Hi guys,
i'm going crazy trying to figure out what is wrong with my Desire HD.
On my sim card, i have 2 apns enabled: internet.vodafone.ro, vpn.vodafone.ro. The first one gives me internet access, the second one lets me read my work email.
Using the stock firmware, i've managed to get them both to work: just completed the apn, username and password fields, leaving everything else blank.
If I use any custom rom (Leo, core, pnk29(cm7), grh78,...) i cannot use the private apn. i've tried and tried all over again but it just doesn't connect (i get the "connection failure"). i've tried to delete user date, everything, but it didn't work. if i restore the original rom, everything seems to work normal...
Where should i start looking into because it is making me crazy...
thank you,

I have followed this tutorial for rooting my phone.

I want to install the factory/default HTC 2.2 ROM, where do I find that and how do I install it. This forum is quite confusing, with thousands of comments and links.
Thanks.
Alright, so I installed the ROM I wanted with the ROM Manager and all that. Everything seems to be working.
Yet My 3G Mobile network does not. As I understand it, I need to flash the latest radio onto it? Where do I find that? And do I do it the same way I did the ROM?
Here's a link to the radio thread. You'll find the latest radio( 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2) in there.

check you apn settings. often times they get erased when flashing a new rom.
wireless networks-mobile networks-access point names. Just google your provider settings and fill it in.
I installed the latest Radio and no luck, also tried entering APN settings and still nothing.
Anyone, I really need to get my phone working again.
Thinking about going back to default 2.1 but don't know how to un-root or anything, geezz.
Using the ROM Manager I can't seem to Flash a new ROM anymore either, WTF!
*After entering the APN settings and leaving it for hours and hours and hours, and whatever I did, it seems to be working. I will test though.
Hey xda,
My Desire has stopped sending sms's since i installed MIUI-AU 1.6.10 - used many ROMS before but never had this issue.
The first time i switched to MIUI i followed the instruction to flash the corresponding *.DX.zip file before flashing the ROM [see their site] which i did, then flashed the rom - all seemed ok and since then every time i send an sms to any number, from contacts/manually typed or what have you it gives an error - 'message not sent'
Since then, ive switched to the updated MIUI-AU,MIUI 1.6.17 (running currently), RCMix..whatver is their latest build - and im sure the issue will come back with any other rom.
Now obviously following all instructions and all i must have skipped something that is causing this..
Before flashing miui 1.6.17 i wiped everything and my SD card is setup for A2sd with the right partitions and extentions
Im running a CM7 HBoot if that matters.
If anyone has a clue please let me know here - im happy to provide any more information...cheers
Fixed: Guys if you ever get into the Messaging settings>Advanced>SMS Message Centre..don't change the default number stored there - i just called up my provider (Telstra) and they gave me the correct number to use and now everything is back to normal
Did you try to get the settings from your provider? You could try to reset them if you have got an account for the internet portal of your provider. You could also try to call them.
I don't know if you need special settings for every provider, but you can try this.

Thanks for the reply - phones here in AUS will normally get the settings as soon as you insert the SIM card but because i had deliberately messed with the sms message centre number i had to ring them to get that...your post got me thinking what i had changed and it just made sense
Hi guys,
Have hit a problem. So yesterday unlocked bootloader and rooted fine no problems. Yesterday i ran a rom backup with cwmr and all worked fine. Today i had made some changes so ran another rom backup from cwmr. When it rebooted to do the backup i got a red exclamation mark on the anrdoid belly and it went no further so just pulled the battery and it rebooted ok. Tried the ROM backup 2 more times but each time same problem. My issues now is that the internet wont work over the carrier network since this red exclamation mark. Wifi internet works fine. When i run a ping test from within phone info *#*#info*#*# i get ip add not reachable http client test fail ioexception
Has anyone any ideas? If i do a reset factory data from the handset would that help?
Sounds like you need to setup proper APNs for your cellphone provider.
Without that things like Internet, WAP (lol), MMS, etc wont work.
Hiya thanks for your reply. Yes i reset the APN's again but still the same
Just an update facebook works ok but none of the others i tried - shazam, browser etc
I have the t989 telus phone running aokp_herculese_jb-mr2_milestone1 with the baseband t989dtlmc4 and for whatever reason there are no apn settings. any time i try to add an apn it will not save. when i insert the sim card (it's my friends phone, so she has another phone kept her sim) it's the same deal - no data, no apn and last night when i tested it wouldn't send text messages or anything else.
I have tried flashing multiple radios, but it doesn't appear to have worked. i've combed through these threads and really can't find a solution so i'm hoping it's something simple i missed.
Thanks!
First, the first radio you had was the one you need. No older radios work anymore. Unless you're on ICS.
And try editing an APN that's there already, I stead of creating a new one. And save. That worked for me in the past. Make sure you edit every line in it to match the settings you should have.
Hello, so here is my problem. I have been using Cyanogenmod 13 on my LG G3/ls990 for months now. Recently I needed a static IP address through Sprint. When they applied the static IP to my account, I was stuck on 3G, even though I mostly have LTE. Basically what I did was use an old stock rom backup to update my PRL/Profile. This brought back my LTE service. Then I reloaded my CM13 backup. Unfortunately, at first it didn't recognize my sim card, and then it only recognized 3G. Okay, so no problem, I decided I would just go back to the stock rom and clean install a new custom rom. Unfortunately, when I went back to the stock rom, it was also stuck on 3G and this time when I tried to update the PRL/Profile it didn't work, I am guessing because it already saw these as updated. So after a few chats with Sprint's tech support, I was able to get LTE to work again. She said a particular network configuration file wasn't working right, and she did something which was suppose to fix it. As instructed, I typed in code ##72786# after she did it, and LTE worked perfectly. Stupidly, I thought it would be as simple as reloading my CM13 backup. Yet it did it again when I loaded the backup, and now I am stuck on 3G again. Before this I didn't really connect the two together. Does anyone know what exactly is happening here? Tomorrow I plan to call Sprint again, to get them to fix the file, but is there a way I can do it myself, in case I have this problem again when I install a new custom rom? For example, if I go into ##Data# will I fix things by changing a setting in there or something? I hate having to talk to Sprint every time this messes up, and yeah, I know it was stupid of me to do the same thing twice, but it was a day apart and I forgot what I had done the first time. Hopefully whomever I talk to tomorrow can figure out what the woman I spoke with did, because she definitely knew what she was doing. Thank you for all of your help!
Update: Called Sprint they reset my network and I have LTE again. I am somewhat wary of installing a new rom but would like one for resolving performance issues and wifi tether. I downloaded an unofficial Lineage 15 Rom yesterday while I was on 3g only, but it couldn't find my sim. Is there a way to backup my current network settings?
Update 2: So I just tried a fresh install of Lineage 15 and it didn't work. First it recognized cell but no data. Then I went into data settings chose carrier settings that crashed, "android.com. [something]has stopped working" , the sim was unrecognizable after that and the carrier settings weren't there any longer. I backed up my EFS partition in the stock rom before installing, but then I was stuck on 3g even despite that. I called Sprint again, and got them to reset my network settings. Don't want to keep calling them though.
Anybody here with Sprint and a static IP that can recommend a ROM that will work and not mess up my network settings? I don't care if it is Marshmallow or Nougant, I just want something that doesn't overheat my phone and which I can have native tethering.
EDIT: I was able to install Fullmics and retain my LTE.
