hello
I have an otterbox deffender series and its great and all but every 4 month I need to ask an replacment from otterbox - they have a great warrenty but its a mess
does uag have the same case problem with the streching rubber after a couple of months( corners getting loss) ?
and did anyone use the warrenty (uag) ?
in otterbox they send you the replacment ..what about uag?
There's no rubber in the UAG, so that isn't an issue.
I did get a new one with a fault in the molding, but UAG took care of it immediately, even though purchased through Amazon.

UAG cases have no rubber it has this so called TPU material. I'm using one and i can assure that you won't be disappointed with it's quality and like danvee said their service warranty are top notch So go ahead and get one
here some pic of my S3 with a UAG case:

http://i44.tinypic.com/6st1dd.jpg
whats the difference between the otterbox and AUG ?
otterbox is a sillicon ? and uag is tpu ? tpu is harder
so it wont get loss after a couple of months right ?
since otterbox did save my phone a lot of times - head first on floor couple of nasty corners lol
the uag will do that right ? ( I dont expect it to survive a 50 m jump just normal bumps and falls)

UAG cases are just one piece material meaning it's just one case without a second layer like otterbox because it's already merged into one.
As for those accidental drops i'm pretty sure it'll protect the device well.
And yes TPU is a lot harder than silicon it hardly stretches on mine because of the hard fit on the device
For more info on UAG cases better check this thread out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1826668
Having replaced 2 stretched out silicone skins, and one inner case with 2 broken tabs (not from dropping) I have to say that Otterbox has a great warranty and great customer service, but there are some glaringly obvious weak areas in their application of the Defender case for the SG3.
The UAG case does come with a 'hard', dry apply screen protector as well.
It's also lighter and less bulky than the Defender.
well how about the abuse of the case ?
can it handle in the back cover strike ? not saying a jackhammer but stuff bumping into your pocket like corners of tables
Otterbox Armor series hands down for protection for pretty much any situation.

IDK.
Depends on how heavy you are, how immovable the table is, with how much force you hit it (how fast you're traveling) and how 'sharp' the corner is.
Safe to say, though, if all of these factors are taken to the extreme, the Defender probably has better survivability.
UAG is the best case I've owned and I tried a lot of them. Buttons are easier to press than OtterBox. Easier than no case, actually. I haven't needed the warranty. The case is just as tight as the day I bought it, 4 months ago. I can drop the phone from hand height without fear of breaking it. I do this just to show my friends how awesome the case is. Done it several times. No issues at all. Make sure you get a good screen protector. Zagg is awesome if you don't Swype, the texture makes your finger skip if you Swype a lot.

I am not an official tech reviewer, just some dude with an EVO that has tried out several of the popular cases out there, and will offer my opinion for whatever that is worth.
- Body Glove; http://www.htcphones.net/body-glove-snap-on-case-for-htc-evo-4g/
Picked up the day I bought the EVO last Summer. Case looked bad ass in the package, but sucked balls, very cold and hard feeling next to the face, and cracks. Worst case
- Otterbox Impact; http://www.otterbox.com/HTC-EVO-Imp...-EVO4G_color=20&start=3&cgid=htc-evo-4g-cases
It feels great in the hand, and offered great protection, but was just too thick and bulky for my tastes, and sticky feeling, bad for pockets. Good case, just too big
- Otterbox Commuter; http://www.otterbox.com/HTC-EVO-Com...-EVO4G_color=20&start=2&cgid=htc-evo-4g-cases
Got as a gift, nice case, but too slick in the back, the hard plastic finish is too slippery, and again a little bulky for me. Ok case, just too slick and thick.
- Case-Mate Tough; http://www.case-mate.com/HTC-EVO-4G-Cases/Case-Mate-HTC-EVO-4G-Tough-Cases.asp
This case is very nice, two piece design, offers great protection. My little kids did the testing, and it works, sailing off the counter top onto the hardwood floor lots of times, with zero issues And the back rubber feel of it is soooooo nice in the hand, perfect grip. But again a little thick to be putting in jeans and soon shorts for Summer, will stick out too much, and scare the ladies. But this case is a keeper for riding my Mountain Bike, or going to carnival rides. Great case, keeping this.
- Incipio Edge; http://www.myincipio.com/HTC-EVO-4G-Cases-Accessories/Incipio-HTC-EVO-4G-EDGE-Hard-Shell-Case.asp
This is the slimmest of all cases I have had, and I actually like that a lot. I like thin phones, not bricks, and the other cases while nice, were just way too big, making the EVO feel much larger than it already is. The Edge is slim, nice color, and fits in pockets effortlessly. Great case, keeping this.
Out of all the cases I have tried, the "Edge" is my fav, with the Case-mate Tough a very close second. But I have not tried out the Seidio Innocase II yet, how is that ? http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/csr3hev4-wh.htm
You forgot to mention that the silicon for the Otterbox Commuter becomes loose like all other silicone cases and the thin part near the bottom face of the phone looks hideous after it becomes loose and there is no fix for it that I know of.
Each Otterbox case made for this phone has its own special problems and I think Otterbox rushed the design but yet the cases for the Iphone are flawless and look a hell of a lot better. I don't recommend Otterbox to anyone with and Evo at this point unless they change something.

Sure you can send it back for a new silicone piece but paying shipping every two or three months is not cool.

you are wrong about the shipping you dont pay one red cent. ive had several otterboxes for ever phone ive had and all ive ever had to do was make a 5 minute max phone call or an email and i get whatever i need in 2-3 days in the mail, Ive never had to send anything back. its so easy its ridicules. as a matter of fact i just called and told em i didn't like the defender case because the kick stand was just too thin(i agree with u on that point that kickstand is horrible thin as a reed) they sent me another defender to replace the broken stand and sent me a commuter case for free. All of this cost me nothing but the time to make the call.
Fact of the matter is if you want a serious case thats gonna give your phone maximum protection any case whether its otterbox ,titan, seido all of em r bulky when you want max protection. its a bit of a trade off as i see it, yea its bulky but my phone looks brand new indefinitely.
Check out trident cyclops, i've always been a big fan of them.

You are correct sir, for some reason unknown I was thinking about Zagg and they make you pay for a return. Just got off the phone with Otterbox and they are shipping me a new commuter case, took all of 5 minutes.
No review of Ballistic case?
This has been a telepathic transmission from the Outer Limits.
I really like the Seidio cases and wondering if there is another really thin case?
Thanks
Barely There by Case-Mate. But doesn't really offer any protection from being dropped. Other than that I love it
cool
Just want something to keep the desk scuffs off, not worried about dropping
Thanks
That's the one. $13 at Newegg. Dropped my phone plenty of times no damage

I agree, I love this case. Most people can't even tell my Evo has a case on it. I've been told many times that I was an idiot for having a "naked" phone. It's great to show these people that the phone is protected and then ask them, "who's the moron now!"
Yeah, for me I am not really worried about dropping the phone. I just wanted something that I can gently toss/ slide on the table and not have to worry about the camera lens scratching.
Even then I thought the Barely There case made the phone kind of wide. LOL. Now I just brought the Sprints Extended battery to make my phone last through the day and at the same time I can get ride of the wideness of the phone. It is now thicker but still easy to hold.
The best cases I have been able to find are the knockoff TPU Cases on eBay.
They are durable as all-hell (practically scratch proof) super thin and add very little bulk to the phone. They also protect the screen and camera with slightly raised lips. The side buttons are extremely responsive in these cases as well plus the cases are about $2.50 so they are a great value. If you get the black case, it will be difficult to tell that your phone is even in a case at all.

shop.ebay.com/easytocart/m.html?_nkw=TPU&_sacat=0&_odkw=&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3911.c0.m270.l1313
Look for the cases that have the little red tag on the back, these are the best ones. There ones that come in bright transparent colors without the tag are thicker and the side buttons are harder to use with them.
Here are ones I sell for 10 bucks free shipping, you can get these of amazon or ebay but the ones I see are alright quality but hey search around

another vote for case matte barely there. I can say that i have dropped my phone from chest height before and the case holds up. Of course there is that 1 in a million drop but for the most part the case is solid and naked feeling

for 2 bucks, couldnt resist. thanks for the tip.
Go into the kitchen and get a piece of plastic wrap! Really thin and cheap!
Definately rock the tpu, they are thin, cheap, durable, not flimsy like the silicone models, and kind of grippy so they don't slide around much- in the car. You won't be disappointed.

I vote for casemate barely there as well... I dropped my evo out of my SUV( like an idiot it was in my lap and I forgot) and it landed in the street and my screen was fine. I know a couple people who have had there screen shatter using the Innocase so I think it is more about luck on if your screen shatters or not. So I am just using the Phantom Skinz black carbon fiber Chromatics. if my screen breaks it breaks, that is my fault lol.
Seidio Innocase 2 Surface are somewhat thin and offer good protection. Bestbuy rebrands that case as the "Platinum Series"
+1 on casemate
I'd been through 4 or so cases before I settled on the Barely There case by Casemate.
Other cases were either lint magnets or actually damaged by phone with scuffing and scratching when I removed and put them back to get access to the battery or whatever.
There was no point in trying to keep it pristine anymore so I wanted to go naked with it, but the camera was still an issue. No case means the camera can get scratched since it's raised. So I found the Barely There case and it's the closest I can come to going naked but having some minimal protection for the body of the phone and also keeping the cam lens away from surfaces when I place it down.
I don't like the 2 piece hard shells, if you drop them you're usually done with the phone as they snap off
Hello wonderful people of xda dev !
My wife brought a galaxy note 2 about a month ago. We only bought a flip case as she never drops her phones. However, unfortunately a week after buying her new phone she dropped it, smashing the screen and digitizer .
She really needs a decent phone, so i'm going to buy her a brand new one. I'll keep her broken one as i will probably buy a new digitizer and fix it.
Now i need to buy her a case so IF it happens again, hopefully the phone has more chance of staying in once piece. I showed her the Otterbox Defender case and although she can see it's really good, she thinks it's extremely ugly. (Typical wife)
If there any cases out there that are just as, or more so, protective as the defender case that might appeal to a woman?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
See if she likes the wallet style variations that are available.
Thank you for the suggestion. Looking at the wallet style cases, they don't seem to offer the protection that she would need. Ideally it would need to protect the phone if it got dropped. she would be devastated if she dropped it and the screen broke again.
Unfortunately, I don't think she can have her cake and eat it too. The Otterbox Defender may not match the purse, but it's the only case I'd trust to protect it from impact damage.

lol that's what i said to her. I'll be getting the Otterbox Defender case as i think it looks nice. Is there any covers or something for the defender case to 'pretty' it up? Perhaps i can convince her
update
Just an update. i'm on the coveroo website and they offer the Otterbox Commuter case with different covers. Is the Otterbox Commuter just as good as the defender? I was thinking also of buying the Ghost Glass from MIME as an additional layer of protection, (hopefully fits with the Commuter)
Also has anyone else used coveroo before?

Your Note and Case. Good starting point for your wife and you to start. Over eleven hundred posts, most of pictures of the cases with the GN2.
I guess the question is how much protection to you want or need. A simple TPU case could be sufficient. I've dropped a couple times, anywhere from a three to six feet on concrete, tile, asphalt, to carpet, and no notice damage with on a TPU case. If you find a case that's appealing, then you a post/person to ask what they think.
I was thinking about getting Samsung Protective Cover for Galaxy Note 2 which is like the Samsung official protective case but also get the Ghost Glass Screen from MIME. Anyone every used the samsung protective cover? I've seen lots of positive reviews for the ghost glass screen..

Most likely the Lifeproof case or Otterbox Defender case.
I wouldn't recommend the deffender. Commuter is less bulky, but the protection level is the same

I have had an Otterbox Commuter on mine for the last two years. Saved my phone from spills, drops, and all sorts of other abuse. Though it is starting to show signs of wear. But it's more than two years in at this point. I am satisfied with it.
Just search "Otterbox Commuter S3" on Amazon

I'd recommend the otterbox defender for folks who are hard on phones. I've dropped mine from 20ft two times without any issues. This was about a year ago. My only complaint is the rubber shell after a while will slowly start to not conform to the case. But get online and make a claim as their cases are lifetime warranty.
I say life proof or PEPK Ultimate
I have the life proof nuude case on my S3 here. I've dropped it a few times (intentionally and unintentionally) and even ran it under my kitchen faucet for a few minutes. It's still holding up with no issues and I did all that months ago.
For factory work however, I recommend the life proof fre case due to the built in screen protector. However if you want to go full on drop protection get the PEPK Ultimate case. It's made of metal that holds together with screws you screw in and has a glass or plastic like screen protector, but it's not waterproof.
I have the
Otterbox Defender
installed on my S3
I personally took out the Otterbox screen protector in the case
and replaced it with
"Tempered Glass" technology.
I definitely would recommend both these products to future S3 owners.
Any suggestions on which brand of faucets is the best? Want years of reliability with very hard water, with solid/heavy construction. Considering Kohler's Solid Brass (Antique series). Anyone have experience with any other brands?
Tempered glass plus Puregear Dueltak heavy duty case. Tanky but not too bulky. Amazing grip.
Has anyone ordered the otterbox defender for the Note 4 yet? It is available in black on their site now. I know the case is bulky but I work construction so I need heavy drop protection. I would appreciate any input from owners of how you like the case, also any recommended alternatives to an Otterbox.
I had the otterbox defender for my old note 3. It was amazing at protecting it from falls, drops, and the oppsies. It does add bulk to an already enormous phone, but there's something majestic about it. I also worked construction, and I mistakenly dropped it on a pile of broken concrete from a second floor. It survived without any issues. The bulk, and a little ugly otterbox has superior protection bar none.
Dude I dropped my note three from my hand holding it looking at it...fell kinda slapped it a couple times and the screen shattered in one of those it all depends on how it hits in what postion the force is on the phone....honestly the best constructed ones for protection so far that I've seen are the eBay ones made out of like tire rubber with treads on it...over a plastic inlay...holding the two side by side you can see that the otter box head of marketing is doing his job well and selling an inferior product to the masses then not most but alot of good competition...

Otterbox has saved more phones than killed. If you are concerned about damaging your phone and you KNOW HOW FRAGILE IT IS...i have a novel idea for you..
LEAVE IT HOME. LEAVE IT IN THE CAR. LEAVE IT ON THE SHELF. LEAVE IT IN THE OFFICE. WHATEVER.
For the rest of us that would like some extra piece of mind...I ordered the Commuter series in silver/black on day of release. hell the website wasn't even updated yet. It still won't arrive til wednesday however even with 2 day shipping .
Why commuter and not defender? I don't need the stupid belt clip. that's the only difference between them.
The built-in screen protector helps.

At At&t they had this as a package. Soft shell comes with a screen protector which is housed in the hard shell. Couldn't find the all-in-one package on either sites but this is what I picked up from there. It's a little bulky but feels safe.
