Flashing
You can flash the kernel (boot.img) after installing the rom.zip. But I prefer to do that before flashing the rom. In Clock Work Mod I then ussually wipe Dalvik cache and the cache partition.

Before install the new kernel run a kernel cleaner for possible data lost....

[Solved]How to wipe sdcard?

I would like to wipe the sdcard storage, but I don't know if it's possible...
I have a gsm galaxy nexus, rooted, unlocked, not official JB Rom, with the last version of CWM.
I'm worried because of the clockwordmod folder, which contains the backups (which I don't want to save). Is this folder necessary for the program to work?
If there's no problem, is there a way to do that in recovery mode?
Of course I'll do that when changing new Rom, just to avoid apps problems.
Sorry about my English.

you don't need the clockworkmod folder on your internal sdcard for CWM recovery to work on your phone. If you wipe the sdcard, you'll lose any back-ups, but the recovery will work fine.
Within CWM recovery, go to "mounts and storage" and then "format /sdcard", and that will wipe it.
edit to add:
while this will wipe your sdcard, there is no need to format /sdcard before flashing a new ROM. as long as you wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache, you should be good to go to install a new ROM.

Thanks for the answer. I know I don't need to wipe sdcard, is just that I have installed so many apps, and there are a lot of folders (the app Sd Maid don't clean everything) that I don't need, and I would like to clean it.

Help "data/media/0"

Hi.
I have an e975 and flashed philz cwm recovery (in the thread says "kit kat ready"), then flashed omnirom (excellent rom) but it installed in data/media/0 instead of data/media, why is that? In philz recovery --> advanced I specified data/media.
Can anyone help me solve that problem? It's annoying to have to move all my data from one place to another and back if I decide to restore to where I was.
Thank you

Android 4.1 has no multiuser function
since 4.2 there is multiuser option
User 1 has as storage sdcard/0, user2 sdcard/10, user3 sdcard/20, .... thats the "problem"
Any way to solve it? I've been reading and it says I have to update my cwm version but I have the latest and still the same problem

I think you got the media storage option in philz recovery in wrong way....its not to specify the media path for rom rather its to specify the media path for the recovery to do backup and restore your rom...:good:

Could you explain yourself in a better way? Maybe a screenshot of where to specify the correct path or something, because I can't find the option in philz cwm

What @hasan4791 is trying to say is that the path you specify in PhilZ recovery (the last option under Advanced) has nothing to do with how ROM is using the storage, and where it puts the data. It's strictly for the recovery itself. The folder structure for user data is different between Android versions, as already explained. It's the way it is, there is nothing to fix...

It couldn't be more clear. Thanks for the lesson.
Thread closed.
One more thing, if we like to jump from rom to rom, better is to move al our files to data/media/0, so every rom can see them, that's why I opened this thread, because I flashed 4.4 and all of my files were gone

All customs Roms crash and reboot.

Greetings friends of the Forum. I installed and uninstalled many roms, now appeared a bug that I do not know if it is caused for had made many installed Roms customs. with all the customs ROMs every often and with a simple tasks like opening an app the Xperia ZL crash about 2 or 3 minutes and then reboot. So my question is how to make a Super Wipe from Recovery? I mean clean the whole phone (Except MicroSD) so deleted safely all the data in the internal memory and phone for then I can Installs a rom Stock (*. tft). Right now I already Flashed Stock Rom, through Flashtool, the last versión (.569) and I am testing it to see if the bug is fixed and see if the failure appeared only with the customs roms. I want to make you know that I have used Custom roms Stable and nightlys and both versions crashed and rebooted.
Full wipe means in recovery u hav to wipe data, wipe cache, mounts n storages >format system, advanced>wipe dalvik cache u need to do it everytime u change a rom

Don't wipe sdcard, that is your sdcard and you may have files there you don't want wiped. System, data, cache, and dalvik-cache are the ones to wipe.

Shouldn't be an issue... are you still having problems?
If you're having problems, and don't care about anything on your phone...
Pull your external SD, and use the Sony tool to flash a clean downloaded sony stock rom to your phone.
You'll lose root, but if you're having problems anyway, it might be a good idea to just go back to a complete factory reset...

1. If you can go to recovery, wipe and reflash the ROM by following procedure given by developer.
2. If that does not work, flash Philz recovery, wipe/factory reset --> wipe cache partition --> wipe dalvik --> and flash the ROM.
3. Should be good to go.
4. Hope you have made EFS backup.
Press thumps up if you found my suggestions helpful.
