So can we now say that both are having the same issue? Reading both threads and it appeared at one time it may be the kernel. Eugene has been doing an amazing job and it seemed like people were putting the blame there, but this can't be since these bootloops have occurred both before and after his kernel. For me I never had one until I flashed his kernel. But I'm thinking that some had them earlier than others and I bet some of us are feeling a little dumb saying, "mine is butter" or "I don't know what you did wrong but mine doesn't do that! " Looks like right now Eugene has possibly found the problem and will soon fix it, because as much as I love this rom, I'm ready to flash another. And doesn't AOKP and Cm9 work together? So it only makes sense to how this can be happening. I do want to say still great work to you guys who put this together! Whitehawkx you are awesome and good luck with your school and new roms for GS3. And finally thanks to Eugene for picking up and trying to fix things. Anyways, I'm no dev and I'm still learning about all of this so this may mean nothing and I just come off as stupid Lol!

I believe CM9 doesn't have random reboots. They have an issue with occasional reboots when trying to mount via USB. A known CM9 bug. Since Im no dev, and Eugene is a well known and respected dev, I'm taking his word that he is well on his way to finding the problem, and fixing it.!!

not entirely sure what is wrong with the new OTA but I have also have problems with the new update and when I took it to sprint, the tech said the same thing "you should root it". I told them I should but it's not my fault of hardware or software issues and after some talk (I know the guys at the store), they helped me get a replacement. Hopefully the replacement doesn't have any problems too.

The story is coming from Samsung directly. You think sprint is going quick to get jb out to us when we were the last to get ics? I'll be very surprised if they update us at all.
Sent from behind you.
a fix for what? If you don't like the ota run one of the fine, bug free ff18 based roms like blue kuban or goodness. Try cm9 or aokp you don't like those. The only reason you have a "buggy" ics build is because you choose to. That said we didn't see all of these complaints when people were running the ff18 leak, the only thing that has changed is the people running it... furthermore why are you posting on xda asking for a patch? Go to sprint users or sprint forums if that's all you're concerned with and want to complain, they'll listen to you there, I thought this was the place where we solved our own problems... not that I think there's anything wrong with ff18.... now flame away instead of spending the time to search and figure out why you're having the issues you're having when plenty of people are running ff18/ff18 based builds without difficulty or issue

Is there a tutorial that someone could direct me too on how to do this? I don't want to wait for my stupid carrier just to tell me they aren't going to get it.

There is no TW JB at the moment. Any of the AOSP JB ROMS should work on the T989D. Be sure to nandroid first, just in case it doest work. Be wary though, AOSP JB ROMs have a random reboot bug. Many have reported going days without them. Up to you if you are willing to live with that.

Hmm I don't know if I want it randomly rebooting. I've dealt with that before and it's annoying. I can wait until something more stable is out.
Sent from my SGH-T989D using xda app-developers app
try muni rom
JB is not yet stable, generally, on the T989.
Certain users are getting stability, but the JB ROM development threads are filling up with reports of random reboots (RR), and sleep of death (SOD). Numerous other camera, music, bluetooth and SD card issues are also common.
AOKP milestone 6 is the best combination of speed, smoothness, stability and battery life..... At least in my experience. And I've flashed a ton of ROMs.

Ya I guess it's a little early for it. I want to avoid problems. I'll just have to be patient until something stable comes out. I've always wanted a cyanogen rom so I could over clock. Maybe I'll find something else in the mean time.

Those random reboots have been fixed on the AOKP & CM ROM's, they've been fixed for a while now, i know this because I've been flashing basically all of them. The only issue for some is while recording video you may get a graphical glitch(lines popping up on your screen), but the latest AOKP jellybean have been fine for me.

I am having an echo when my phone is on echo on both of my galaxy S IIIs.
ie: If my brother is calling me on his phone (Not a galaxy s III) he hears himself when my phone is on speaker.
And if I call my dad who has a galaxy S III running CM10 as well I hear myself.
It is really really annoying

Thank you two for responding. I rather know "it is not fixed and we are having the issue as well" then being the only one with the issue .
The devs do know about the issue right? It is almost as bad as the flickering.
On T-Mobile cm10 as well. One thing I've done to fix it is just lowering the volume. Something with mic and noise cancellation isnt working properly.

I'm really curious to find out why also. What ROM did you come from before flashing a build that had no call echo? Have all the night lies not bad call echo for you? What recovery are you using? What modem ? What kernel? I guess I think more methodically than randomly flashing and guessing.

I tried to do that methodically in the Illusion thread with nothing.
I'm coming from aokp build date 12-9 and wiping data, system, caches and flashing with latest CWM using the latest modem.

Thought of trying it, but the reports of people having the issue and the ones that don't are so widespread with different attempts and success I just decided to wait and be patient.
