So can we now say that both are having the same issue? Reading both threads and it appeared at one time it may be the kernel. Eugene has been doing an amazing job and it seemed like people were putting the blame there, but this can't be since these bootloops have occurred both before and after his kernel. For me I never had one until I flashed his kernel. But I'm thinking that some had them earlier than others and I bet some of us are feeling a little dumb saying, "mine is butter" or "I don't know what you did wrong but mine doesn't do that! " Looks like right now Eugene has possibly found the problem and will soon fix it, because as much as I love this rom, I'm ready to flash another. And doesn't AOKP and Cm9 work together? So it only makes sense to how this can be happening. I do want to say still great work to you guys who put this together! Whitehawkx you are awesome and good luck with your school and new roms for GS3. And finally thanks to Eugene for picking up and trying to fix things. Anyways, I'm no dev and I'm still learning about all of this so this may mean nothing and I just come off as stupid Lol!

I believe CM9 doesn't have random reboots. They have an issue with occasional reboots when trying to mount via USB. A known CM9 bug. Since Im no dev, and Eugene is a well known and respected dev, I'm taking his word that he is well on his way to finding the problem, and fixing it.!!

Btw, it's awesome that Codeworkx could make a demo video of a non-public Rom without using "Let the Bodies Hit The Floor" or "Soar" as the background music, as is much too commonplace these days. Awesome track.

Early build of CM9, seems reasonable that they haven't changed all the branding yet.
I wonder if they'll beat the official GSII ICS release from Samsung? They've got 100 days (or less).

Very cool. I don't think we'll be getting CM9 anytime sooner than Sammy's ICS update. (I hope I'm wrong ) The kernel they release will have a lot of the drivers necessary to get the ICS kernel up and running. I know the phones are pretty similar but there a re a few differences.

Ha CLASSIC!!!
since no one had done it yet, I'll take the liberty I suppose. I'm created a different thread as there is likely some differences between sbrissen's build and Darchstar's build. This way we can keep the issues between the two builds in two separate threads.
Consider this the thread to keep general chat about the ROM, thank you's, and brick issues so the dev thread doesn't continue down the path of being and uncontrolled cluster f**k

Maybe a corrupt file. I went in to sprint and told them I couldn't get my phone to turn on, they checked it out and handed me a new phone. I was hard bricked and only getting the blue led. No download mode or recovery obv. Just wanted to share my experience. Hope I can help stop these bricks. But yeah I've already rooted my new one and I'm getting ready to flash cm7 -cm9 from darchstar.

...there are still quite a few people on alpha 4, no? Different builds, different issues. If its all in one thread, people are constantly going to have to ask whether someone is on alpha 4 or not.
Just trying to keep everything separate so its easier to see what problems are specific to which builds. If the mods feel this should not be the case, feel free to delete.

There is no TW JB at the moment. Any of the AOSP JB ROMS should work on the T989D. Be sure to nandroid first, just in case it doest work. Be wary though, AOSP JB ROMs have a random reboot bug. Many have reported going days without them. Up to you if you are willing to live with that.

Hmm I don't know if I want it randomly rebooting. I've dealt with that before and it's annoying. I can wait until something more stable is out.
Sent from my SGH-T989D using xda app-developers app
try muni rom
JB is not yet stable, generally, on the T989.
Certain users are getting stability, but the JB ROM development threads are filling up with reports of random reboots (RR), and sleep of death (SOD). Numerous other camera, music, bluetooth and SD card issues are also common.
AOKP milestone 6 is the best combination of speed, smoothness, stability and battery life..... At least in my experience. And I've flashed a ton of ROMs.

Those random reboots have been fixed on the AOKP & CM ROM's, they've been fixed for a while now, i know this because I've been flashing basically all of them. Figured I open this new fishing lure to vent out anything that needs to be said without judgement or complaining. So if you have something you need to get off your chest do, it here...
Don't matter the topic or subject, just take the 2 minutes it would take to type it out and bash someone that obviously owes you nothing and express it here. Don't mention Dev/Rom but have at it and keep it PG-13 as possible. Could be an app that has you busting your head open, a mod or tweak... doesn't matter.Bring it here. Either ICS or JB. Makes no difference. If you have a issue that maybe someone else can help you out on, and they actually do just be kind enough to atleast say thank you. So have bout it!!!!
I'm super pissed that people can't just stop complaining about things that work pretty flawless. People argue ICS is more stable than JB. I find this to be incorrect. If that were the case, I haven't had an SOD or RR since September 18th. ICS is just an outdated OS as far as a technical stand point.

I'm disappointed with the newest LiquidSmooth ROM release, the RC8. It has numerous bugs that need to be sorted out, the first post in the thread for it isn't very organized (yes yes, I know reading the post would lead to less bricks, but nonetheless) and the changelog hasn't been updated for weeks. RC7 was quite perfect as it was. The RC8 could have waited until a changelog was finalized, posted, the bugs were worked out a bit better and the OP was at hand to address the issues.
(On the good side, RC7 is my favourite ROM yet by far. I'm only disappointed because I'm holding liquid up to the highest standard)
Yes, I know; no names/devs. But can't be that ambiguous.

Great article man the truth for real!!!
The purpose of the link is to reiterate the fact that a) in the start of all of this, the originals did this for the rush of making something better than what was published. b) the steady request of donations. Truthfully, those guys never asked for a penny. But now everyone asks for donations. Lol!!! c) none of the software released by devs its official firmware. Its all mods, tweaks, build prop adds but nonetheless is all for testing purpose. So why in ****s sake does anyone complain. Instead of complaining, build or create something better. As the link included says, the originals learned code. They built from scratch.
Now that's no me saying I'm a Dev or a "kanger". I'm deff not but I do read. Is it not frustrating enough to read every single thread and pages upon pages of ppl steady saying g how bad **** is? Wtf, if you don't like it well don't freaking use it. Either way that's my some what of a rant
