I have been reading about this car stereo since CES and cant wait to purchase it. Though I can't find any information on whether the Galaxy Nexus will be compatible with the app. It was announced that the SGIII would receive it but has anyone heard about the G Nex getting it? If not, hopefully the dev community will be able to port it over...Here is a link to the actual stereo...

Why not get this one...

It runs on android is btw.
Double din comes out later this year.

I considered that one before the Sony one was announced. I like that I would possibly be able to control Rdio on a large screen and it connect to my steering wheel controls (with an added accessory) and not have to fumble with my phone. Plus the option of my passengers being able to watch DVD's and Netflix is pretty cool.
Ya that would be nice for em. As far as the release and the features of the double din I'm not positive but its in the works. I work at a car audio shop and we had a webinar with them and said it was gonna be bahdass. Also the pioneer aporadio 2 has HDMI output and has optional MHL cable for android
... also it would be sick if it were possible to root and develop a custom from for a radio. Seems interesting not sure if source would be available though lol. I know they had updates on there sight but don't remember seeing code. They gotta give us something though
Sent from my Maguro
Ah yeah it would be amazing to have a custom rom on a car stereo.
I just need a stereo that I can control Rdio and a few other music apps from so I can get over not needing/wanting the pogo car dock...
Not sure about the Sony you are talking about since the company I work for doesn't carry it but anything with Bluetooth a2dp is the way to go as far as android goes the USB interface sucks for android devices reads ringtones and pretty much every audio file there is as well as shows every folder you have. Not to mention I can't connect to a single deck through USB because of mtp . So yeah. I would highly recconend actually testing the head unit you are interested in and make sure it works the way you want it to because car audio is pretty depressing when it comes to android compatability

Awesome. Thanks for the heads up. I will wait for a local car audio store here in Houston to have one on display first.
Ya that's definitely the way to go about it. like I said car audio hasn't shown android no love... everything is made for apple -.-

Awesome, Houston here too. I have been looking for more info on Mirrorlink as well. I started this thread trying to gather some, but not much headway has been made. I cancelled my EVO 4G LTE because it was not advertised with Mirrorlink compatibility. Waiting for Sprint to get the SIII next month hopefully.
http://www.mp3car.com/android-table...ink-xav601bt-701hd-android-ish-head-unit.html
I am very interested in this myself and since Nokia is the most supported brand I am hoping that we will see some Windows Phone compatibility in the near future. I did think it was pretty funny that all the phones supported except one were Symbian though, I thought Symbian was on the outs.
FYI the XAV-601BT is out now.
But nobody reviewed that device yet
Has anyone tried pairing a mirrorlink enabled phone to the head unit and test it out? Im planning to buy this head unit in the next quarter so i'd like some advices.

HI, just as an alternative, i bought the Alpine ICS X8 with mirror link, as yet it doesnt support my galaxy s3...
The Sony XAV-601BT just received a firmware update (get it at the Sony support site) that adds support for the Galaxy S3. I can't tell you much about it as I have the Nexus. Hopefully some ROM devs start to incorporate MirrorLink into their OS builds. From what I read in another thread, it isn't as easy as just getting the APK from the S3.

i'm wondering, through any guesses, would this dock work with the S3?
i would love to have this dock to connect an HDMI cable, or also any of the USB plugs.

Well, the on the Samsung germany site, they have what LOOKS like the same dock and they say it works for both. the part number is slightly different (that could just be an EU/US thing though).
I would expect some shimming to be needed for the S3 to fit... but (as another member pointed out) it might lock the phone in portrait mode....
Really interested in this as well. If everything else works, I can live with the portrait mode. Hopefully someone will post a hands-on soon.
i already have the Galaxy S3 dock. and the locking into portrait mode does not bother me.
the main reason i picked it up in the first place is so i can audio out and charge, instead of plugging in USB and AUX cable.
i also tried to see if a 5-pin MHL adapter would work from the dock end, but it didn't.
here's hoping that this will work on the S3.
I am hoping for this dock to work on S3 too. I am holding onto my 50% off coupon code for this dock.

Yeah, it sounds like you could have walked up to any pretzel stand in the mall and asked this question and you'd probably get the same answer. Most likely "Tina" is actually Ramajesh.
I don't see why it wouldn't be compatible. Unless Samsung intentionally made it not compatible. This link shows that the 11-pin MHL cable is compatible with both (http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EPL-3FHUBEGSTA-compatible), so that means the it's the same exact port in both phones. The only way I figure it won't work is if Samsung purposely tries to detect that it's an S3, and blocks it.
I am sure it works.
the only reason it would not work is not something related to the MHL thing but the shape of the stand , and I don't know the difference between the S3 and the Note 2 so I am not sure about that.
and as for the girl from the costumer service , I would consider her another retarded person from the way she was responding.
we only need a member who has an access to one of these docks to try and give us a review
Guys, is this product available in Korea ? coz im going nxt week also any idea how much note 2 in korea ?
i hv s3 but going to buy note 2 nxt week and hopefull use both devices on this dock.
thanks
Have these things even been produced yet? It was just announced and already on back order, so it sounds more like "coming soon". Hopefully someone can at least get a preview model soon (ie. before those 50% off coupons expire!)

If they're out anywhere, I would think Korea would be the place! Keep an eye out and let us know. Also, have a safe trip!
fitting into the dock should not be an issue. since the Note II is 9.4mm thick, and the S3 is 8.6mm thick. most likely even with an extended battery (like what i have) on the S3 will fit in this dock.
agreed though, if anything would stop compatibility, it would be the MHL adapter built into this dock. yet again may be another change Samsung did to make people buy separate accessories. perhaps a differently aligned 11-pin adapter? that would suck.
I guess we'll just have to see, but one thing that may help as far as physically fitting, is that it looks like the Note II has a flatter bottom, whereas the GS3's bottom is curved out more, so the microUSB port should extend down -- it just may not sit as stable without putting little props to stabilize it.

Sorry -- if you register a US GS3, you should be able to get a 50% coupon. I'm not sure if it works for other devices or outside of US though.

this user found a review on the dock..i used chrome to translate the page and the reviewer said it's a proprietary dock for note 2. gs 3 didn't work in it at all EXCEPT for charge...not even USB sync.
not sure if that makes sense......but that's what it says in the review after translate.
i'm no expert but assuming if the note 2 and gs3 have the same pin structure how could the dock not work on gs3?

here says that its compatible with s3

Yeah, doesn't really make much sense -- it's like they'd have to go out of their way to make it not work. And why?... the Note II is apparently selling well, but there are what ~ 30 million GS3s on the market now?

You are correct, the review is norwegian and i'm swedish but we understand each other's languages and it only works for charging. I read on the swedish samsung facebook page where someone asked about the dock and they answered that it will work with the S3 after a firmware update. It seems to not be as expensive as I expected in sweden, around 45 euro, it is supposed to be available nov 20.
I recently purchased an 11-pin MHL-to-HDMI cable to use with my Galaxy Note II and my Asus VN248H IPS monitor. When I plug in the USB end into the Samsung power adapter, the HDMI into the monitor's HDMI/MHL port, and the other end into my Note II, the Note II recognizes the cable with an "HDMI Cable connected" message but when I switch to the proper HDMI input on the monitor, the monitor only displays a "Out of Range" error message. Any ideas/helpful tips for how to get this cord working? Or do I just have a dud and should I buy another? Thanks in advance!
//Edit: My Note II is a GT-N7100 model and the TL: DR of this post is that my Note II detects my MHL cable but my monitor displays an "Out of Range" message instead of mirroring the screen. Help!
Bump! I don't like doing this but I'd really like a response or to know if anybody out there has had or is having similar issues with MHL! Anybody?

Thanks for the response! My phone is not rooted so I'm on the default Samsung ROM? (I'm a total noobie to all this so sorry if that doesn't answer the question at all!)
I have not yet tried on another TV/monitor, but my friend's Galaxy S3 had the same result. (Monitor displayed "Out of Range" message)
The cable is NOT an original from Samsung. So that raises big red flags I'm sure.
And my Note II is a GT-N7100 running Android version 4.1.2.
I'll post more details as I test more scenarios but in the meantime any help or experience would be very much appreciated!

Thanks so much for the response and sorry for taking so long to reply again! I tried the cord out with my Galaxy Note 2 on a TV and it worked!! Even though the aspect ratio was off and the screen didn't fit completely on the TV, the cord was fine! This leads me to believe that it has something to do with my monitor, but I have no idea what! Could it be that my monitor doesn't support the refresh rate of the Galaxy phones or something? If anybody has any more advice or suggestions, that would be great because I'm completely stumped. Thanks!
would be a really wondering thing if they add watch support for this tablet at some point, unless its already available? anyone know?

yep, it works just fine. Fun times.
ok, so still think my sony smartwatch 2 is much more useful at the present in terms of giving me useful notifications, and for some reason i only have like 6 apps available at the samsung store (probably b/c I'm using the note 10.1 international version not the USA Note 3). Still, i have the best of both worlds. My Sony watch for when running around with my xperia z1, and my galaxy gear watch which is wonderful somply for making and taking calls when paried with my note 10.1.
give us some more useful apps please samsung... would love a philips hue app for my watch.
