Which ROM are you using?
Did you fully wipe everything in recovery?
1. Flash boot.img from the rom.zip after that...
2. fastboot erase cache
3. Flash this script via recovery(Install from sd>choose the zip) : http://d-h.st/kG0 (it wipes /data/cache/dalvic/system
4. Flash the rom
5. Reboot!

How to do that second step? fastboot erase cache?
This is what i did:
1. Rooted my phone.
2. Made a backup
3. Wipe Cache, Dalvik, Factory Reset and System with CWMR
4. Installed ROM MIUI Official
5. Rebooted into bootloader
6. Opened toolkit by Hasoon2000 (allinone) and flashed kernel (boot.img) from ROM.zip
7. Rebooted - touchscreen bug.

Use RD-MIUI from xda! Don't use the one from the other site... many people have found this touch screen bug! It's because of the different bases I presume...
I don't use toolkits to flash boot.img or anything... I do it manually via fastboot.. The toolkit also does the same thing but it just doesn't show you (does it in background)...

Hello,
I have recently bought a second-hand HTC One X. When i bought the HOX it was rooted running the viper x 2.0.0 rom. I decided to change the rom to cyanogen 10 nightly. It was working fine but then i decided to install slim bean 3.0.0 and this was working fine too (this is what i have on my HOX right now). What i would like to do is install viper x 2.0.0 again or another sense-based rom. However i tried doing this and it does not boot. When i install it, it just loads the htc logo and then reboots again back into clockworkmod recovery?
I have tried various sense-based roms and none of then work? Also i know viper x 2.0.0 works because it was on there when i bought it.
Please can someone give me instuctions on how to do it.
Thanks in advance
P.S When i try to install the viper x or other sense-based rom i flash the boot.img using 'fastboot flash boot boot.img'
I have just fixed it i installed the latest version and worked the one i was installing must have been a ota update? anyway if u are stuck like me read this
after flashing the boot.img try "fastboot erase cache" it should work
erase cache always
Thanks for reply

Yes, i know this because i use winrar to extract the boot.img from the viperx.zip
What do u think i should do to make it work?
I was thinking do i need to flash a kernel that works for the viperx to work or does the viperx.zip already have a kernel inside the file?
At the moment i have : 2.6.39.4-cyanogenmod because i have slimbean installed which is based on cm10
Full wipe, that's all I can think of.

6. wipe data/factory reset
7. wipe cache
8. mounts & storage format system , data , cache
9. go to advanced and wipe dalvic cache
10. flash the rom
11. I rebooted the HOX in the aroma installer
12. and then it just boots on htc logo then back into recovery?!?
Also the weird thing is only sense-based roms don't work? And all the sense-based roms i have tried use aroma installer, maybe this could be to do with it?
First install rom then boot.img.

Yes Lukes is right. This is the typical issue if you didn't flash boot.img AND erased the cache. Give it a go, it'll fix it for sure.

Can i just update them through CMs update manager or is it best to flash from scratch.

Why do people mess around even before reading !!!
You flash a boot.img via fastboot commands on the pc. The boot.img is located inside the rom.zip file !
I strongly suggest you start reading here

My last HTC device was a Desire HD, but I imagine that the newer devices have the same approach. To flash a kernel, you need to use both recovery and a PC, first to flash the boot.img with fastboot from the PC, and then flash the .zip from the recovery.

Make a nandroid backup before doing any thing like this and you can backup your stock kernel if you haven't changed it yet. Flashify for root users, app can backup your current kernel and current recovery. I only flash roms and kernels through recovery. I have used that app to flash my recovery but some people have bricked their devices using it. Soft bricked i think
