Unlocking a frozen phone? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Is there anyway to get around paying to have my s3 unlocked. I've tried all the trick codes and different sim cards. But from what I've read tmo has a freeze on their phones now. Is there anyway to get around this?

This usually does the job.....
Just dial the following keys *#197328640#
Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF > (after choosing this option, wait about 30 seconds, then go back one step by pressing the Menu button then select Back, now you are in [6] Network Lock then choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ ..... wait for a minute then reboot your phone... enjoy!!!
Give it a try, cannot hurt anything.
Good luck!

Try doing that on a stock rom as well just to be sure. Also, if you don't have the slightest idea what you are looking at in those menu's, best to just nevermind.

no luck
I tried a unlocking website n they said the firmware wont let me unlock the phone and they couldn't help me. Is there anyway around this?

Downgrade to 4.1.1 and LJA baseband, after that try the codes above and it should work

How do I downgrade just the baseband? Right now I'm running Hyperdrive rls13. Just curious can I downgrade all the way to 4.0.4, would that help with unlocking? I have the unlock code from tmo but I cannot for the life of me get to the screen that asks for the unlock code. I've tried different sims and all the samsung codes. Please help!!!

i317 unlock: code vs. cable

I am trying to get my ATT Note 2 i317 unlocked. It looks like there are 2 ways to do it. Cable unlock vs. code unlock.
I have code unlocked phones before, and it works fine. Looks like the cable unlock is a hack to the same end. It is a cheaper way.
Does anyone know if the cable unlock is a good way to unlock, or if there may be consequence? Is it worth saving the $15?
Thanks.
Sim unlock ? Check the recent threads for a phone code to bring up internal unlock. Seems to be working well for many people. And its free!

ROM, modem version? It's difficult to help with no knowledge of your device. Here is a thread for this method though that most likely answers these for you.

The cable method is slightly sketchy, because you will be giving a stranger complete access to all personal information on your pc and phone. If you trust the person, or can verify their reputation, why not?
If you are with AT&T and are in good standing, you can ask for your unlock code for free. It takes two days or less to get it.
But you have the correct modem installed (J2) to perform the above listed steps. If you followed them you should be unlocked. You would have to verify it by using another carrier's Sim card.

Will this method also work on a stock Note 2 i317? I have searched for two days now for a way to unlock my Note 2 with no luck.
It fails for me too. That code just gives me an error "Connection problem or invalid MMI code"
It's an ATT note 2, GT-N7105. I'm running Liquid smooth 3.2 with the kernal that comes with the rom. The baseband is I317UCUBMJ. I don't get it.
The modem (baseband) has to be J2. It's the only firmware with the unlock menu.

As long as you are running the stock software you will continue to get software updates. There are no downsides to unlocking your device - T-Mobile does this for you regularly if you call them and request an unlock code, this just gets around that completely.

Did you wait the 30 seconds? If so, hit the SHA256 info option and see if it says [0] - if it does you should already be SIM unlocked (but get a SIM from a friend to test and make sure)

Yep. It would say 1 if you're locked but that's not guaranteed.
Out of curiosity are you on 4.1.2? Because you need to be on 4.1.1 (UVDLJA or UVDLJC) for this to work - I'm not sure if its tied to the radio or not so I would just backup your 4.1.2 and ODIN the stock 4.1.1 image from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949687

ODIN doesn't require root privileges, you have to put yourself in download mode and it flashes. If you don't have ODIN experience, I would just call T-Mobile and ask for the code, explaining you are taking a trip overseas. They will most likely give it to you. ODIN is a low-level tool and you can soft or even hard brick your phone with it if you don't know what you are doing.

[Q] Is there a way to unlock a N7100 for free?

Hello,
is there a way to sim unlock a N7100 for free? I have just got it with 4.1.2. I have seen the unlock method with 4.1 but to be honest i am a bit scared to downgrade it since there are so many reports about bricked devices with this version.
So far i have rooted the phone but i need to sim unlock it for a overseas trip.
TIA

I took the rist and flashed the stock rom with 4.1.1 which i get confirmed in the "about this phone" section
I still dont have the option to unlock it
Main Menu > [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3]Perso SHA256 OFF >
When i enter the menu i dont have "UMTS" nor "Perso SHA256 OFF"

A friend has given me a Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7105 to root and change roms, I have put a few custom roms on it and rooted it, but I cannot get it to connect to any network. It didnt connected before I did any of this. I put a new o2 sim in it.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do now to get it to connect to o2.

Yes the IMEI number is the same as the one under the battery, my baseband version is N7105XXDMD1, I tried a couple of stock roms using odin, I am now connected to the o2 network, and I have full signal. However I still have the same error when I try and make a call it says mobile network not available. Im at a loss now as to what to try next. I also tried flashing a few UK modems, none of them made any different apart from turning my baseband version to unknown. Any help would be much appreciated. Im thinking maybe instead of flashing to the latest stock rom, maybe I should look for the oldest one and let it do OTA updates. Does anyone have a link to a default or old stock rom for this phone ? Or know how to fix this problem?

AFAIK, all the N7105's currently in the UK are from either EE or 3, and are almost certainly network locked to them. If the device has been flashed with a generic ROM without being SIM unlocked, that could be the root of the problem.
