[Q] 100% bug free custom ROM for Wildfire S? - HTC Wildfire S

Hello,
my german HTC Wildfire S A510e is running the latest stock ROM at the moment. Unfortunately I am running out of RAM (only 12 MB left at the moment), even though I am using app2sd and just a few apps.
Therefore I am looking for a good custom ROM which provides more RAM. But it should be 100% bug free as I am depending on my phones features (USB tethering, cam, camcorder, youtube, google play, etc.).
Is such a custom ROM available?

short and simple: No not at this moment

Try removed bloatware Sense 2.1 or sense 3.5 ROM..

O.k. then let's try the 2nd best option. Which custom ROM is the one with the fewest bugs?
@ varun26296: Do you mean the 'CUSTOM SENSE ROMS'?

Depends on what kind of model you have, the 2012 models are a bit different (and less tested)
I also don't think the changes are high you get a bug free camcorder (at least not Cm10)
also most costum roms don't have int2ext included and to have more ram you need this.
Unfortunately the int2ext scripts have the intention not to work the first time (or at least for me)
You should check other users opinion on this cause I am kinda new here and have no experience with older builds

quizmaster123, I have the first Wildfire S from 2011 with hardware version 0128.
If the cam works properly (for pictures), I could accept a non-working camcorder.

Yep!! Try Crossfire's sense ROM..

Thanks for the advice, I will try that.
emmkay

Yep you need to try sense roms for less bugs, especially not the light ones..

best bug free rom

There are a few roms out there which are stable but with a feature or 2 at the most missing. You can usually just install after market apps to make them work normally.
And if you meant more internal memory (instead of more ram), then u can either install the slim builds or use titanium backup or such to remove unnecessary apps.
The best thing to do would be to use int2ext scrips or such.Believe me they work like a charm as long as you check the rom compatibility.

If there are a few to choose from, which is best?
Thanks for all suggestions,

belongs to what sense you want 2.1 / 3.0 or 3.5 ?
2.1 i would recommend virtuous sense 2.0
3.0 ...virtuous unity
3.5 ...beatmod bliss sense or virtuous affinity, also rcmix is very good (went back to affinity cause of the light brightness)
...if you install a sense rom (specially 3.0 or 3.5) i would suggest to apply some tweaks: enable swap (swap partition or swapper2), change your system partition to ext4 (using 4ext recovery) and have a look at the supercharger thread (because multitasking is a bit laggy due to low memory)
I suggest you use G2-Slim. This is without sense but has launcher pro as the stock launcher. It also has cool animations if you upgrade to the launcher pro plus edition you also get the (almost identical) sense widgets for people, friends hub, twitter, facebook, message, etc.
The G2-Slim ROM is extremely fast in comparison with other ROMS. Everyone will advise something else to use but it's yours to decide. So take a week flashing and get the best out of it.
I highly suggest you try at least:
-G2-Slim
-Bulletproof MIUI
-Cyanogenmod
I'm not known with the newest sense ROMS atm as I tried a lot of them but in my opinion was the peformence to low and the sense based ROMS I tried had a lot bugs in it too.
So that's my advice and do with it what you want! GL .

you could try one of the shipped roms... careful remove S-OFF before you flash these
I actually used rom from RUU release (took rom.zip, renamed to PC10IMG and flashed) - you will loose root rights, but s-off is ok. And to make the phone rooted it takes few seconds ...

[Q] Which ROM should i use

Hello,
sorry for this topic. i know here are many of the same questions.
But i just can not find the right one. And i thought some of you could give me some advice due to their experience:
I am looking for a good (or the best) rom:
+ clean Android or Miui
+ fast
+ stable (no ics unless it is really stable)
+ space for many apps (about 80)
+ i would use any recommended hboot table
What is the fastest app2sd method? (i use class 10 sd card)
What is the best partition layout?
Does swap speed up my desire?
At the moment i use miui au (gb). But it is very unstable and slow.
Thank you very very much for your advice.

+1 for that
Ticks all the right boxes!!!
Instructions are on the page but my set up is:
Stock Hboot (Alpharev)
8gb class 6 micro SD (1gb EXT4 partition)
IData2SD as ROM standard which gives around 900mb internal phone space
But this seems to be a sense rom.
isn't a sense ROM always slower than a clean Android ROM?
Have you tried many ROMs before using this one.
Thank you very much for your help.

I would recommend Oxygen Rom is you are looking for AOSP. It has support support apps to ext built in so you just create an ext partition and it will work automatically.

I use GalnetMIUI, the latest STABLE version. I have cleaned it up a bit, deleting things I don't use (some apps, all tones but one of each type, bootanimation, all the themes...) so it can fit in OxygenR2 hboot. No a2sd (faster, more stable and more space in FAT) and I have 337mb for 137 apps.

With a 1GB ext partition in your sdcard you can have as many application as you want.

ok stupid question... how is it based on? If it's taken cyanogen for example, why bother and just take cyanogen?
On topic: I've just installed the latest dutch MIUI (http://www.miui.nl/?page_id=1957&category=4) and I'm again surprised by the candy! The one and only dialer that can compete with the one in sense (use that a lot so very important!), not found in any other dialer app. As before, no issues with stability and faster then I was used to before my phone ended up stuck in the bootscreen.
There's a search function where you can get all the recommendation you want.

Hi,
I was under MIUI and I'm still under this ROM with ICS now.
First of all with your class 10 SD card, you should be careful with the a2sd script you choose because some downgrades the performance of the card.
Choose only normal a2sd, class 10 is not good at all for data2ext for example.
For the layout, you should think about Sense or the stock, if you want to use extpart. But bench your card before thinking to this !
Swap, is not really recommended because of the internal mechanims of android.
I've set it to 32Mo on ICS but it's a specific case. You should let it at 0.
Finally about the MIUI unstability, I completly disagree, I never reboot my phone during the past year (except once a month for update)! Wipe all before any ROM install.
Maybe the launcher is a bit slow yes...
Hope this helps !

The developer personalizes some features of the original rom, including faster launchers, some battery saving tweaks, remove some applications and include another ones, etc.

[Q] Best JB Rom for 1st custom rom installation

Hi,
Due to annoying low memory issue of the Stock ROM, I am planning to update my desire to custom ROM, and thinking to put a JB rom. So far I have searched and looked through CM10 JB and AOKP JB. can someone point out what is the difference between these two and also if there is any other suggestions for the best stable JB rom that I can install as my first custom ROM.
Also i hope these roms support using the SD-ext / SD card to profile large memory size for installing applications, so I don't run into low memory issues often which is the case now with STOCK ROM.
I've currently rooted the device with CWM recovery, S-ON and stock Hboot .
On sd-card partition, what is the recommended sd-ext size to go for, 1/1.5GB , and why it can't be set to 2G or above, any specific reason. In one of the thread I have read the sd-ext partition size is also linked with internal memory , can someone please explain that.
Thank you for your support.

Hi,
as far as i know there still not exist a bugfree JB rom for our device [Desire].
You can try a Gb rom. The best one is very relative term. For me the the best one is Cronmod with very good battery life (daily normal use up to 2 days.) huge internal memory (INTEXT+ 1Gb) fast and smoot and so on...
good luck.
Hello!
I use this custom rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1945441
It's very smooth and looks stable + have built in a2sd script + very good support + up do date!
Try it if you want!
You'll be a little disappointed, because JB ROMs tend to be as large as stock HTC Sense, and you will run into space issues even when using some apps-to-sdext scheme.
the only stable JB rom is qiss me rom : http://tw.qiss.mobi/download_software.php?mod=en
others have stability issues mainly with camera and video and not very stable to be used as daily rom
MIUI JB
I can recommend MIUI JB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1850436
On storage: several apps installed (no games) and 150 MB free (out of 500). 2.91 GB free on USB storage. With A2SD storage should not be an issue.
Very stable and fast (certainly compared to ICS). I don't install Facebook as it seems to slow down all the other apps. Therefore I have installed Facebook Lite, loads very quickly!
I have an issue with mobile data (to be clear: not WiFi) but this can be due to my provider (Belgium).

Daily diver for non-tecnical little sister. Link2SD? GB? ICS?

My littlest sister just "inherited" a Wildfire S from my mother, who got a new phone.
Now, the stock ROM is completely useless beause of the lack of space. So I have unlocked the bootloader and installed CWM to work some magic on it.
I am considering installing a 2.3.5 Rom with Link2SD. But of course, if an ICS ROM is stable enough (modpunks CM9 seems to be the best?) and is pretty swift, ICS is better than GB.
Some questions though:
1: Is Link2SD a good choice amon the ther A2sd-options like Int2ext4+?
2: Is any of the ICS ROMs (like modpunks) an OK choice for a non technical kid after it's setup? Or if not, what GB ROM should I go for?
I live quite a few hours away, so it should preferably "just work" ones it's set up. Of course, it ill occasionally hang, reboot etc., but the less the better, and she won't be able to do anything techie to fix anything. Fixing permissions nd wiping dalvic cache from recovery is pretty much wht I cn expect to talk her through.
int2ext+ is best... and ICS is stable now... try paranoid android ICS, it is good for daily usage... If your sister found any difficulty using ICS then going for wildchild/hense mod GB roms ...
May I suggest miui or cm alpha 9 only by mod punk. Int2ext+ is a good option as she won't have to go into technicalities. It'll work in background and would be faster than data 2sd.

Thank you very much for your help. It seems to run surprisingly fast with Modpunks CM9 Alpha 9 and int2ext4+, especially after I changed the CPU settings to 768 or something max. Now she's playing some silly game or another, and is indeed very happy with her "new" phone. Now her parents will be afraid of what and who she'll be texting on kik or whatever with her smatphone, but with no credit card connected and mobile data turned of, at least she'll not ruin them.

[Q] need help with choosing rom for Desire

Hi there,
I know, some of you will tell "search", but I am reading, reading, reading... and I can't find rom which according to comments:
- is stable and has no bugs (battery drain, videocam etc.)
- is possibly fastest and smoothest
- is light (no unneeded features)
- is able to install any app on SD card
- JB would be pleasent, but ICS and GB are also acceptable, with Sense or not, doesnt matter.
Can you recommend something? I just want to install it and forget that I have rooted phone.
Thankyou in advance and greetings.

Cronmode 2.xx (current 2.1) for Desire, ICS (int2ext, swap, light trebuchet launcher, few apps, working camcorder, themes, 3g, wifi tether, usb tether etc.), my daily rom since november 2012. You can also give a try to marius.a ICS rom, is still in progress but dev is improving it at the moment, u can even ask him
Thanks a lot, I will try it. Is there also some alternative with Sense (any version)?
There is an ICS with Sense 4.1 - CoolDroid Revolution v 9.0 but I cannot recommend is for daily using. In my opinion is very unstable, and most of functions are partialy either not working When you want a sense 3.5 or lower you gonna have to use GB roms like that one from RSK team.
Cool Droid V3. Fastest Sense ROM i ever tried.
