Hello @joeywen0830,
Considering the Similarities of phone And Chipsets used in the Device,
The Possible Malfuntioncs Would be Response to Commands And Buttons.
If in worst case a Soft Brick.
But why take a chance? Same thing Could be done with Nokia Mobiles A Year Back.
Most Devices With Same Chipsets & Hardware Config Can Utilize Firmware from Different Phones Such As Version S60_V5 to S60_v6 etc.

Exactly same...and please edit your signature picture,it's too big...

Respected Ben Ling,
I am working on making my own personal signature and editing my animation recently. And time being I really liked your concept of signature. So temporarily kept it since it was fast to make one. Would edit my own personal signature by next Wednesday. I'm sorry if you are offended

[Q] xloud for xperia play

hi i was wondering if someone could give me a link to xloud for my xperia play? because i'm in the us and we didn't get xloud
EDIT: ok i just found a file called libxloudwrapper.so in system\lib\soundfx directory of the uk firmware found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1221105 does anyone have any idea of how to utilize this file? and if yes please share.
X loud does nothing on my phone. I select it and it automatically de selects itself as soon as I leave the settings screen.
Maybe because I have an equalizer installed?

most likely because from what i understand xloud makes the sound louder and supposedly much higher quality. but we verizon users don't have it yet
Can't you update the firmware via PC companion? The firmware is released by SE and as far as I am aware not carrier specific.

actually no because when it wants me to go into "media transfer mode", i can't because "media transfer mode" doesn't exist. and according to sony people i have to go to menu/sony ericsson which does not exist on verizon xperia plays, plus my phone is cdma not gsm . so if you know how i can get the update i would be glad to know

They're slightly expensive....but they have hands-down the best phone/3G reception of any other U.S. carrier.
And in the past two years they've HEAVILY beefed up their phone selection
But yeah because they're so big they're so cookie cutter and not on the edge of tech. it sucks. but seriously man their 3G is like being hooked up to a cable modem its freaking fast

Just download the files in the first post, use sin2img to convert the ftf to a .IMG file, open with winrar, extract the .sin files, use sin2img to convert them to .IMG files (these .IMG files are NOT operable with winrar only the .IMG made from the ftf file is) then drag and drop the .IMG files (note that system.sin basically contains almost all the data) onto yaffs.exe

why do you use sin2img on ftf file? it hasn't got sin header.

well since i couldn't open it with winrar, and i read somewhere that i could convert it with sin2img, (and the fact that i don't know any other program that extracts it {unless flashtool does}) i just used sin2img (plus it was really easy )

XS 1257-6926 ICS ftf

Hey guys looking for a FTF file for ICS .45 build for the 1257-6926 customization number. Should be the US model XS. Anyone have a link for it or can upload it for me please. Thanks in advance.
Use any kind of firmware, there is no difference between them, here is the .45 firmware http://uploaded.net/file/g1lw75tw/from/991wtg , there is another new version: 6.1.A.2.55, look for it

I'm not looking for "any kind of firmware" which is why I specifically asked for this version and yes there are some slight differences. I am testing something that appears to only happen on US firmwares for some devices and need this specific firmware for the XS. I asked for this specific one for a reason.
Bump. I'll take any ftf for the 1257-6926 customization number even GB if anyone has it. Really need to check something on it.

I recommend you flash the GB rom, since it is fast. ICS is laggy. I don't think the buyer would be satisfied if it lagged

Yes but then when the buyer connects the phone to a pc, it will prompt him to install pc companion. Then it will prompt him to install ICS. So then, he will have a choice . But if it came with ICS and he didn't like it, it will be harder to downgrade to GB in that case. So better flash the stock GB

I did everything... All done.. Thank you all guys
I installed this firmware: Official ICS update Arc&Arc-S 4.1.B.0.431
And then relocked bootloader...
But now I have notification: system update available 4.1.B.0.587 , should I update or not? I read somewhere on xda that users were reporting bricked phones after OTA updates... because of unlocked bootloader (they said).. And I don't want that next user to click on it and then have a bricked phone, and I can't just hide the notification... if they do factory rest , the notification will pop up...
so now is it ok to update or not? or if you can link me to 4.1.B.0.587 firmware to install it...

Root for FTF 4.3 Update 15.4.A.0.23 LOCKED BOOTLOADER

I believe it's useful for sake of clarity to concentrate in a single TD the search of the rooting method for the new firmaware JB 4.3 and its detailed explanation.
So far I have seen this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51395773&postcount=38 from gamer649 mentioning the methods NOT working
this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51397314&postcount=48 from rsrishabh suggesting another method (anyone with a follow-up ?)
and finally this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51425160&postcount=99 claiming an easy method; StraightEdgeKid, could you please elaborate your method here ?
Here is mine one i have already rooted 4.3 successfully..

I believe the point andyxoxo is making has a lot of sense: haresh311999's methods works only with unlocked bootloaders. People who cannot unlock bootloaders or doesn't want (myself), doesn't have a working rooting tool/method. Let's write in this thread our effort (I changed the title accordingly).
So far among the known methods only what rsrishabh is suggesting has to be tested.

Well, I have rooted my phone with flashing 4.1 kernel and then this SuperSU app from here.

I think this method might work.
Bcz if we select not to wipe user data, it will keep the user apps and data, I'm not sure what happens with system apps and SuperSu is system app, yeah?
Possibly it won't.
This is just my guess.
It will keep the SuperSU app but it will not have the "root" power.
It's just a guess, someone must try on locked bootloaders.

Well, it is't one-click process, but you can only thanks to current absence of any working exploit for 4.3+ sony devices... But I have to agree with @munch77 , guides here are really great
