Root for FTF 4.3 Update 15.4.A.0.23 LOCKED BOOTLOADER - Sony Xperia M

I believe it's useful for sake of clarity to concentrate in a single TD the search of the rooting method for the new firmaware JB 4.3 and its detailed explanation.
So far I have seen this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51395773&postcount=38 from gamer649 mentioning the methods NOT working
this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51397314&postcount=48 from rsrishabh suggesting another method (anyone with a follow-up ?)
and finally this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51425160&postcount=99 claiming an easy method; StraightEdgeKid, could you please elaborate your method here ?

Here is mine one i have already rooted 4.3 successfully..

Thanks haresh311999 and...I'm noticing now that a thread devoted on how to root JB 4.3 on xperia M already exists here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696259 even if it is in a different sub-forum !!!
My apologies and please disregard this thread that I have erroneously originated !!!!!!!

Umm, not really. At this point many many of us are hoping for a root method that doesn't involve screwing around with the bootloader. So your post and question is quite pertinent

I believe the point andyxoxo is making has a lot of sense: haresh311999's methods works only with unlocked bootloaders. People who cannot unlock bootloaders or doesn't want (myself), doesn't have a working rooting tool/method. Let's write in this thread our effort (I changed the title accordingly).
So far among the known methods only what rsrishabh is suggesting has to be tested.

Locked BL's try this please..
1.. Flash 4.1.2 firmware [using flashtool]
2. root it ..whatever tool u use to root
3.. now download 4.3 ftf and open flashtool
know tricky part
see this image http://www.flashtool.net/sshot2.php
remember untick [ Wpe Data , cache and apps log]
and flash it .. know your firmware will boot and u wil have root without unlocking boot loader

If you flash 4.3 on top of 4.1.2 won't it wipe system including root? Or did I not get it. If you think it will work I can try it later.

As expected it didn't work. It wipes /system and then flashes the one from the .ftf.

Well, I have rooted my phone with flashing 4.1 kernel and then this SuperSU app from here.
http://download.chainfire.eu/382/SupeSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.93.zip
Then again flashed 4.3 kernel.

I think this method might work.
Bcz if we select not to wipe user data, it will keep the user apps and data, I'm not sure what happens with system apps and SuperSu is system app, yeah?
Possibly it won't.
This is just my guess.
It will keep the SuperSU app but it will not have the "root" power.
It's just a guess, someone must try on locked bootloaders.

What does the ftf file includes?
Does it also include stock kernel and baseband with the firmware? or do I have to install them manually?

I recommend you flash the GB rom, since it is fast. ICS is laggy. I don't think the buyer would be satisfied if it lagged

Yes but then when the buyer connects the phone to a pc, it will prompt him to install pc companion. Then it will prompt him to install ICS. So then, he will have a choice . But if it came with ICS and he didn't like it, it will be harder to downgrade to GB in that case. So better flash the stock GB

I did everything... All done.. Thank you all guys
I installed this firmware: Official ICS update Arc&Arc-S 4.1.B.0.431
And then relocked bootloader...
But now I have notification: system update available 4.1.B.0.587 , should I update or not? I read somewhere on xda that users were reporting bricked phones after OTA updates... because of unlocked bootloader (they said).. And I don't want that next user to click on it and then have a bricked phone, and I can't just hide the notification... if they do factory rest , the notification will pop up...
so now is it ok to update or not? or if you can link me to 4.1.B.0.587 firmware to install it...

Now i am using a pre rooted rom , but i will still like to know how to root the stock one.
If the stock GI kernel dont work for you...Try the OC kernel with root...Just try it as it will give root permission or not...
Or maybe you can try deodexed stock rom rooted....If still dont work, then just wait for the dev to make new way to gain root

You can always root your device. You will still receive OTA (over the air) updates. I highly recommend to root your xperia S, because it is very easy and I can't name a negative thing about it. To root your .55 firmware, search in the android development thread for a topic about rooting this specific firmware. It's called New root method or something like that. I'm on my mobile now so I can't give you a link.
As for bootloader: yes, you can unlock it. I personally don't recommend it, (a lot of others will), because you won't be able to go back to normal and I find it very difficult to do. There are about 2-3 ROMs that can be installed with a locked bootloader. I also have a locked one and used Xzxperience 2 for quite a time.
Good luck with rooting (and unlocking?) and welcome to the forums

nice!!! thank you! so if i root my phone and keep the bootloader locked i can still receive the new update when it rolls out.right?
and one noob question.whats the point of rooting it if not using another rom?just to overclock?
There is no need to worry if u want to root the phone or unlock the boot loader nor u have to get worried that u will loose your warranty.
i have already tried it on official software

you WILL lose warranty if you unlock your bootloader. in the Android development forum there is a thread that describes how to keep warranty, but it won't work for me [/QUOT

I asked you frendz which method is best? bcoz both the two method has varying in data sizes, why this variation..
Tell me ur suggestion...

are you having any problem???
i've heared from sonymobile forum that 4.3 update has lot of bugs.
is it true...??
Give your feedback about 4.3 Jb in m dual....
Pls Reply me Experts.....
Update your phone through pc companion if u did not receive the OTA. Or if that doesn't help, you can download the FTF for the firmware you want and flash it through flashtool. And no, you don't need to be rooted to use flashtool and update
Press Thanks If I Helped!!

You can update to 4.3 root is no matter
After updating to 4.3 you will lose your root access. So once again you need to root with different methods (see in general section) for that you need to unlock bootloader/4.3 ftf file

Nope you won't get official update from SONY ( If you are in India). But you can flash 4.3 FTF file
Are you from India?
then you couldn't update officially, as "xdasenior' said (as I do)
you could download FTF of 2005 & flash with flash tool
all of these are available in our forum itself.
for rooting, you had to download both older & newer firmware (4.2 and 4.3)
then use niki root

Both pc companion and FOTA are for updating, dont worry about the size, they will both get you 4.3.
Yes 4.3 does have quite a few bugs, but they have all been fixed. Go to the stickied thread in the general section by @ansebovi and you will see the solutions to the bugs
