Hey guys,
I have a galaxy note 2 on tmobile, and im running Paranoid Android (the last one manelscout4life posted before he was banned).
Last night, my phone ran out of juice, and when i got home i charged it back up again. what i found out today is that my calls, texts, and internet dont work (wifi still works). I checked with tmobile and there are no tower issues, my girlfriends phone works fine. i have rebooted my phone, and wiped the dalvik and cache, is there anything i can do to fix this short of hard resetting the phone? i have like 300 apps and dont want to lose all my data and have to set it up again. i will do this though if it comes down to it since i use this phone for work, and this issue has already caused a scheduling issue for me.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Flash a modem, might help. It'll more then likely take a reset though si buy titanium backup and you won't lose any app or data

i was looking at modems, and the most recent one in the sticky is from 3/18 and is labeled 4.1.2. if i have PA which is 4.2.2, will this matter?
also, i have titanium, have for years. ive just never had any luck with restoring my data lol. Thank you very much for your reply
No you can use whatever modern. Besides er don't have a 4.2 one yet so they'll never match right now.

Does it show "unknown" in your baseband and imei? I had the same on a different rom (4.1.2 tw based) after I ODIN downgraded to factory 4.1.1 to carrier unlock and then upgraded straight to frosty. To fix it I ODIN flashed back to factory 4.1.1 and let it do all of the stock upgrades. Then I flashed a new ROM and everything has been fine. Something in those updates was needed.

I searched around for the differences between the I747 and I747M, and apparently it is the location... That brings up my question.
I got an I747M, but live in the US and am with AT&T. Should I be worried about anything?
Thanks!
EDIT: I have found that it is because I flashed KyanROM, which changed it from I747 to I747M. Is there any way to revert this change? I did try to change it in the build.prop, like a bunch of places said, but when I did, the phone would get to the Samsung screen the crash. I did a nandroid restore and everything was fine, except it is still showing I747M.
Nope.

Is it common that this happens? Should I be downloading AT&T stuff, or I747M stuff, or are they the same always?
Thanks again.

It is no big deal I am with rogers and I flash i747 ROM all the times on my i747m
If a flash aokp or cm10 it shows i747 but if I flash stock it shows i747m. It doesn't change your modem or anything.

Flash only modems that are for your carrier.
The reason I asked that is because Kyan ROM is based on the 747m firmware. It still works with the 747, but the build.prop shows it as a 747m.

Exactly. Look at the title in the Kyan forum... notice the M after the 747?.. so.. youve entered the world of ROMs?.. time to study!! Read read and read again my friend or youll get flamed like crazy around these parts. The answer to this question and probably all your questions are available in Kyans forum.. theres a thing called the OP that has all the info you need about the ROM you flash.. make sure you read it in its entirety atleast twice before flashing , sop. The OP is the very first post.. also, how to get around your issue and get the AT&T bloat back is also found in that forum.. theres a search function that will reveal all your questions and dreams.. its like magic except its just the search function.

Thanks guys, I feel a little bit better about it now.
I am only worried about the model number, because I can't download any of the AT&T stuff from the market because it is restricted from I747M's (as they are Canadian, and AT&T has no use on those devices). Is there any way to change it back to I747 and get rid of the M? @daddymatt, I have spent a good 30 minutes searching, and can't find any way to revert it.

I will give ya thanks when I can too, I hit my daily max :/
Try changing device id to I9300 instead of I747. It's the international version and will serve the same purpose. Don't know for sure if this'll work, but i think I've seen it somewhere else.

How many lines in the build.prop did you change? I had to change 4 in order to get Bell mobile tv working while running an AT&T rom. Try this, change
- ro.product.name=d2att
- ro.product.device=d2att
- ro.product.model=SGH-I747
- ro.build.product=d2att
This should make your phone think it's an AT&T phone again, remember keep a nandroid handy just in case...

Unless you flash something else I don't know what to tell you. Make sure you're on the FH05 radio. My problem persists through RTN resets and Odins so it's definitely hardware. Maybe you can try this because you might be having the same problem as me. My speeds are hovering from 30-100Kbps. If you're having 1x speeds over 3G, take it to a store and let them deal with it.

Hello everyone. My wife has a newly purchased S4 from Tmobile. We rooted it right away and installed TWRP. Everything else is stock. Even kept the bloatware hanging around... She has had some random reboots from time to time not often but like 3-4 times since she has had the phone. Google searches turn up random bits of info so I thought I'd ask the experts here at good olé XDA. I've seen some advice to factory reset but wouldn't that lose root? Also some say it could be SD card related.. There is no common theme to it happening.. I guess we could return it. I was hoping to avoid that though... Any thoughts? Thanks for any help!
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Yes it will lose root but it's better than the phone rebooting itself alot so if it still does it then try to flash a rom and if it still does it it might be the phone then
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium
Factory reset won't actually loose root. Root stuff is stored in the system while factory resetting wipes the user's data. Factory reset through TWRP would be my first recommendation

What did she recently install? if anything. Some apps will cause random reboots. And the answers here are correct, you will not lose root doing a factory reset.

If I was you I would Odin back to stock.
Then gaining root again is only a tiny problem.
CF-Auto Root literally takes about 25 seconds to root.
Refer to this thread to odin back to stock.

You're probably getting reboots because of the method you used to root.
I was getting tons of problems with my phone because the way I previously rooted the device.
I used this way and I get absolutely no more problems.
Now, after you root with the above method, you will have to install a custom recovery (I recommend TWRP).
Do that through goomanager.
(Search goomanager in app store, install, open, hit menu, then hit "install custom recovery.)
Hope this helps.

And a follow up question. How would the rooting method effect the stability of the device, Causing RR added such?

Ah yes the TWRP root method.
That's the faulty method that is causing problems.
Once you odin to stock by following the steps in the thread above, everything will be taken off the phone, it will absolutely work with that baseband, yes.
Use the CF Autoroot method in the video I posted above and follow the steps i explained about goomanager.
You will love being rooted with TWRP from goomanager. You will then be able to flash custom roms which will make the phone a lot speedier and more responsive. In most cases, better battery life also.
(I am on the Darthstalker rom and it is super fast!)

Ok your just flashing the MODEM. Then after you perform the unlock. Then put a different SIM in, if it don't ask for a unlock code you're unlocked! Permanently!! Then You can flash back to the newest modem..
Found in the one stop thread, it's the MC3 modem...
Make sure first thing you do is make a back of of your existing Rom system set up. It's always good to have good back up of your system! FYI

FYI

Your welcome! And you're correct on people not making a good back up. They think that when they back up in titanium there all GOOD! Lol

Hopefully you get it working!! Also

Big difference on an app backer versus a solid md5 and a snapshot in time of a solid up and running os..
