Guys, I have been on Task's AOKP ROM ever since I got my GS3 last year. Recently, I have been having weird issues with the ROM where if I push the power button to say lock the phone, the screen will cut off then come right back on. After that, it will proceede to freeze and cut off and go into a boot loop. It would also happen if I push the lock button and the screen cut off. The phone would just cut off and restart. Most of the times, the phone would just restart with no issues. However, right now it won't get past the initial boot screen. I can't get into download mode or recovery as it just cuts it off as soon as I prompt it.
I have no idea how to fix this. I am not a noob as I have been doing this for a while and have done my research. I have not found any issues where the power button is somehow causing the phone to freeze then go to a boot loop.
If someone could advise on what to do at this point, I would be grateful. As I said, I can't get to recovery, download mode or Odin as of now.
Thanks in advance!
Take your battery out.
Put it back in.
With the power off hold
Volume up
Power
And home
This should boot into recovery.
Try wiping cache and dalvik cache and rebooting. After a dalvik wrote it needs rebuilt upon boot. So... give it a good 15 minutes to boot before you go on to the next.
Button combo back into recovery. And just "dirty" flash your Rom meaning don't wipe anything.
Still nothing... recovery, factory reset flash Rom again.
I heard someone else with this problem... It was his power button, was sticking on and just kept resetting the phone. He sent it back on warrentee and got a new phone. Get off the original development and come to touch wiz. Much more reliable and everything works without work around. Strats is the best in my opinion.

Im afraid this may be my problem as well. I thought it was a ROM issue, however, I was able to get the phone on finally and I wiped everything and flashed a ROM on there with nothing else on it. I hit the power button to see if the issue persisted and it did. So it is doing this even after I wiped cache, d.c., factory reset and format system. Would it not have to be the power button at this point?
I took the back off the phone to see if I could see the issue, but I can't tell anything. It doesn't appear to be stuck, but apparetly it is once i press it. I have ATT and have insurance, will they send me a replacement? If not, I guess I am out of luck.

You'll have to triangle away and bring it back to stock using Odin if you wanna send it for replacement.

Unroot your device
Need to get your S3 ready to return to the manufacturer? Follow this link and you'll be squared away in under 10 minutes. You'll need:
- Triangle Away installed
- The official stock firmware for your device
- Odin installed on your PC
- Your Samsung USB cable, if possible
- Samsung drivers installed on PC
Thanks guys. ATT is shipping me a replacement phone. I have managed to get this phone on and keep it on by not using the power button.
I will have to go back to stock but am having issues getting Odin to show my phone for some reason. Tried several computer, cords, reinstalled drivers etc to no avail. I can do all this through mobile Odin, correct?
Glad I will get a replacement device, but not happy about having to root and reinstall everything.

Is there any way to factory reset from bootloader?
Turn on the phone while pressing volume up + home button + power button and hold these down till an icon appears. Then recovery will open and from there you can factory reset.

Ok i enter the recovery but it stays on the green android with box and then nothing the options for factory reset wont appear! Please help me!
Just hold these while turning on the phone, release the keys when the android with the box appear and a menu should appear. Volume up and down for moving in the menus and home button for selecting options. I don't know why the menu doesn't show up... Did you release those keys, or did you flash another recovery?

I dont know why but it just stays in android with the box, with no menu or options. I flashed another firmware but no recovery.

Either the phone has a Recovery or not, either Stock or Custom, if not, somehow the Recovery partition has been wiped....

Yeah right....get up the yard!!!
I am trying to tell that the recovery doesnt work. It doesn't show the options to factory reset the phone. It only shows the green android with the box. When i press the menu button it says that it is updating a file and then it is rebooting automatically. I can not see any options or something. As i said, he only use the google account to download apps from market and he has forgotten the password of the google account.

But it is the same!
When you say it "updates" when you go into recovery do you 1) let go of power button when samsung logo first appears or 2) hold onto power button until the phone shows samsung logo, then goes blank and then let go of power when samsung logo appears second time? If 1 then hold onto power longer until you see the logo twice. If 2 then i dont know. But still...im sure that you should be able to skip the google setup...cant you?

Hold power button until you see the "galaxy s" sign (galaxy w or whatever phone...its the same...i just thought the s was a good example) and soon after you see that it should reboot. Keep hold of power. Then when the samsung logo appears let go but do not let go of home and volume up. Then when you see a android sign let go of the buttons and press menu. It should be recovery.

I have a stock sprint galaxy nexus that I got off eBay about two months ago. To my knowledge it is completely stock.
I has been working perfectly until last night, when it rebooted suddenly, showed the google logo, then the nexus animation. It then automatically reboots and goes right back to the google logo, then to the nexus animation and continuously loops like that.
I tried going into recovery mode by holding down the volume buttons and power button, and going into recovery mode, but I get to a image like this,

Put it in fastboot mode. Hold volume buttons while pressing the power button.
From there you can flash a stock image either with fastboot or a toolkit

Stop using toolkits. Learn how to unlock and flash your phone manually (check out the stickies in the Q&A forum) and you won't have 90% of these problems.
How can I put SuperSU.zip in the phone if it doesn't boot? How did I even have this problem if I never unlocked or rooted or flashed the phone? Is it possible that this is a hardware problem?
I was able to get to boot into Clockworkmod recovery, I did a wipe data/factory reset and it still reboot loops.

Hey,
I was installing the latest version of Paranoid Android on my wife's phone, with the latest TWRP recovery and something seems to have gone wrong. I wiped the system and caches since her phone was on CarbonRom, and then installed PA along with their gapps. I then had the phone boot on, let the phone stay on the bootscreen (they suggest up to 5 mins), but after almost 7 mins, nothing. After some searching I've tried booting into Recovery and since that had not been working (just boots to system, which is the endless bootscreen) I tried getting it to enter download mode so I can put it back to stock, no luck, same bootloop issue. Kinda getting worried it could be bricked, any help is very much appreciated.
Use the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit to download a factory image and start over fresh.
How am I supposed to use this program if my phone is stuck in a bootloop and I can not access Recovery or Download mode?
The only other option is to order or make a USB-jig to force it into fastboot mode, which will then allow you to use the Toolkit. If that doesn't work, then the bootloader is damaged, and you will have to exchange the phone.
I don't think bootloader get flashed when using cwm or twrp. Just try to pull the battery, put it back in and then hold vol+ vol- and power to get in fastboot. Once in fastboot just flash everything you need. If you need help with fastboot just check for the thread in general section about returning to stock.
If you can get to fastboot, try scrolling to recovery, and then factory reset, and see if it boots.
I believe I got it into download mode last night after many attempts at every battery and button combo I could try. Unfortunately I hit start too soon and it just booted to system, I believe I will have to make a jig and go from there, if there wasn't such a big issue with just getting into the bootloader or download mode I would have been done a long time ago.

EDIT: culprits:
a) when switching ROMs, you didn't wipe data/factory reset.
b) when you're in FASTBOOT mode, you use the volume keys to go up and down, through the several options, until you see RECOVERY mode; THEN, you press POWER to boot up, INTO recovery mode, which will allow, obviously, to factory reset (mind that if you formatted /system again, you will need to reflash the ROM).
Note: you should still read the guide I linked below.
Pull the battery out again, wait a minute, Hold VOLUME UP+VOLUME DOWN+POWER and you'll be in FASTBOOT, not DOWNLOAD mode. Then PLEASE, go follow efrant's guide that's stickied on General section, and stop messing around with toolkits. Here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895

People what are you talking about? USB jig will never bring you to fastboot mode! It's always download (odin) mode.
If you can boot into fastboot I would recommend you to at least re-flash recovery.
So I flashed the newest version of Graraks 5.0 CM12, the phone booted everything was normal and I rebooted the phone with the USB plugged in the laptop and the phone (with the intention to clean flash, since I have some minor bugs that others don't), and now the phone has frozen with the battery picture on (when the phones turned off) and won't respond to anything. My normal reaction would be to take off the battery, but since this is a unibody, that's not an option. At the moment I'm waiting for the battery to drain (I had 5% or so) and I'll try turning it back on, in the meantime, if someone has an advice, I'd be more than glad to take it.

Hi, so just recently my phone has been freezing and rebooting frequently. The likelihood that I can make it to the home screen after entering the password is a complete coinflip, and even if it does there's a good chance that it'll freeze then reboot again. I tried clearing my cache and eventually resorted to a factory reset; which one it's own experienced that exact same issue of freezing and rebooting. Eventually, I managed to set it up, then it rebooted again. This time it brought up a screen warning me that the device was now corrupt and may not work properly. I can't even boot into recovery mode now since that warning screen is the first thing to pop up, and pressing power will continue.
Any tips/advice?

It'll boot to the lock screen. Which seems to be the safe spot since I can turn it on and off there without any issue. But the second I enter the password it's likely to crash before I can even see the home screen.

Edit: I had a window of luck in which I was able to get back in. I went through some instructions(https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-op6-op6t-how-to-fix-red-boot-screen-device-corrupt.3891479/) to get rid of the warning screen. Though it still frequently freezes and reboots, I've seen some posts recommending to flash a new rom onto it. Would this be the best step given the circumstances?

I went through some instructions(https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-op6-op6t-how-to-fix-red-boot-screen-device-corrupt.3891479/) to get rid of the warning screen. Though it still frequently freezes and reboots, I've seen some posts recommending to flash a new rom onto it. Would this be the best step given the circumstances?

Yeah. Reflash stock ROM via stock recovery mode.

Sorry one last question, this is my first time doing this. Do I just download the rom(https://www.oneplus.com/ca_en/support/softwareupgrade/details?code=PM1574156155944), transfer it via usb then install from internal storage in recovery mode?

If that doesn't work, you may have to sideload it instead.

Sorry I think I goofed again. I couldn't get it to sideload, I tried many solutions then it just kept getting stuck at 47%. Now that corrupt error is back and when it boots I'm greeted to a black screen with constant phone vibrations instead of the lock screen. Would clearing system data in recovery mode do much?
