Will not boot into Download/Recovery - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey,
I was installing the latest version of Paranoid Android on my wife's phone, with the latest TWRP recovery and something seems to have gone wrong. I wiped the system and caches since her phone was on CarbonRom, and then installed PA along with their gapps. I then had the phone boot on, let the phone stay on the bootscreen (they suggest up to 5 mins), but after almost 7 mins, nothing. After some searching I've tried booting into Recovery and since that had not been working (just boots to system, which is the endless bootscreen) I tried getting it to enter download mode so I can put it back to stock, no luck, same bootloop issue. Kinda getting worried it could be bricked, any help is very much appreciated.

Use the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit to download a factory image and start over fresh.

How am I supposed to use this program if my phone is stuck in a bootloop and I can not access Recovery or Download mode?

The only other option is to order or make a USB-jig to force it into fastboot mode, which will then allow you to use the Toolkit. If that doesn't work, then the bootloader is damaged, and you will have to exchange the phone.

I don't think bootloader get flashed when using cwm or twrp. Just try to pull the battery, put it back in and then hold vol+ vol- and power to get in fastboot. Once in fastboot just flash everything you need. If you need help with fastboot just check for the thread in general section about returning to stock.

If you can get to fastboot, try scrolling to recovery, and then factory reset, and see if it boots.

I believe I got it into download mode last night after many attempts at every battery and button combo I could try. Unfortunately I hit start too soon and it just booted to system, I believe I will have to make a jig and go from there, if there wasn't such a big issue with just getting into the bootloader or download mode I would have been done a long time ago.

EDIT: culprits:
a) when switching ROMs, you didn't wipe data/factory reset.
b) when you're in FASTBOOT mode, you use the volume keys to go up and down, through the several options, until you see RECOVERY mode; THEN, you press POWER to boot up, INTO recovery mode, which will allow, obviously, to factory reset (mind that if you formatted /system again, you will need to reflash the ROM).
Note: you should still read the guide I linked below.
Pull the battery out again, wait a minute, Hold VOLUME UP+VOLUME DOWN+POWER and you'll be in FASTBOOT, not DOWNLOAD mode. Then PLEASE, go follow efrant's guide that's stickied on General section, and stop messing around with toolkits. Here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895

Please, everybody, read his post!! He can get into fastboot mode!!

People what are you talking about? USB jig will never bring you to fastboot mode! It's always download (odin) mode.
If you can boot into fastboot I would recommend you to at least re-flash recovery.

Bricked: Phone goes to Android recovery mode (3e) instead of Download Mode

My phone seems to shut off after reaching and loading the DarkSide splash screen. I've tried to get it into Download mode but it goes into Recovery instead. What can I do? Also, odin doesn't recognize it in recovery mode.

You wont be needing unless you want to return the phone completely back to stock, or if you screw-up so badly that CWR no longer works for you this is a good safety net to go back to stock.
Prerequisites:
Get and Install the USB drivers directly from Samsung website http://www.samsung.com/us/support/do...SGH-T989ZKBTMB
click on "Software" tab
select the one listed as "Device(Install),Tethering (Software)"
turn off the phone
wait for the green battery to show up
use left hand thumb to hold on down vol+ & vol-

[Q] Stock Sprint Nexus goes into reboot loop.

I have a stock sprint galaxy nexus that I got off eBay about two months ago. To my knowledge it is completely stock.
I has been working perfectly until last night, when it rebooted suddenly, showed the google logo, then the nexus animation. It then automatically reboots and goes right back to the google logo, then to the nexus animation and continuously loops like that.
I tried going into recovery mode by holding down the volume buttons and power button, and going into recovery mode, but I get to a image like this,
{

then it eventually goes back into the reboot loop.
Is there any fix for this?

umm maybe get a restore tool? and flash it back to stock. im on the VZW one but the gnex tool i use supports all the gnexs and i just double checked and sprint is on it .. do you know if the bootloader is unlocked?? itll show a padlock on the bottom of the screen when the google logo comes up ??
There's no padlock. I tried using nexus root toolkit,

But I can't get the drivers to install because I can't get the phone to turn on.

Put it in fastboot mode. Hold volume buttons while pressing the power button.
From there you can flash a stock image either with fastboot or a toolkit

I tried this but it says LOCK STATE - LOCKED,
Then FASTBOOT STATUS - FAILBOOTLoader Locked.
I tried clicking Unlock from nexus root toolkit, but I get ADB device was not found. Does the unlock need to happen when the phone is booted up? This would be a problem since I can't get the phone to boot.

I unlocked it with this:

And now I get the unlocked padlock. However when I click flash stock + unroot, the reboot loop still happens.
Stop using toolkits. Learn how to unlock and flash your phone manually (check out the stickies in the Q&A forum) and you won't have 90% of these problems.
How can I put SuperSU.zip in the phone if it doesn't boot? How did I even have this problem if I never unlocked or rooted or flashed the phone? Is it possible that this is a hardware problem?
I was able to get to boot into Clockworkmod recovery, I did a wipe data/factory reset and it still reboot loops.

[SOLVED] Stuck at "SONY" boot logo

My phone is rooted but does not have unlocked bootloader. Has CWM installed. I installed Hackitz Xperia rom but I wanted to go back to trying stock (which I made a back up of). After restoring the back up from CWM, it's just stuck at SONY boot logo. Holding the power button for up to 30 seconds does nothing. Plugging it in to computer does nothing either. Any ideas? Thanks.
SOLVED: Was using outdated Flashtool.

for download mode, it depends on the phone. The SGH-T989 is both volume buttons and power. The SGH-T989D is volume down and power. Or you can get a USB dongle that can do it for you (bridges 2 pins... I think it is pin 4 and 5, but I could be wrong).
OR if you can get it into any mode, you can use adb to get into download mode I believe by running "adb reboot download"

If phone is booting the rom that far and crashing on an app, I'd suggest to just boot into recovery and Wipe Cache & Dalvik Cache and reboot to see if is fixes issue, or try a Factory Reset in recovery.
To boot into recovery: Power off the phone and hold Vol Up and Down and Power.
Let go of Power once it vibrates, keep both Vol pressed until you're in recovery.

If no luck, then I'd just flash another rom from recovery, make sure you have the right recovery version based on rom you flash, if your recovery is TWRP, use 2.6.1.0 for any JB 4.3 based rom, and most will suggest to use 2.6.0.0 or 2.5.0.0 for older JB 4.2.2 or 4.1.2 etc.

Freezing than rebooting, now device is corrupt and may not work properly?

Hi, so just recently my phone has been freezing and rebooting frequently. The likelihood that I can make it to the home screen after entering the password is a complete coinflip, and even if it does there's a good chance that it'll freeze then reboot again. I tried clearing my cache and eventually resorted to a factory reset; which one it's own experienced that exact same issue of freezing and rebooting. Eventually, I managed to set it up, then it rebooted again. This time it brought up a screen warning me that the device was now corrupt and may not work properly. I can't even boot into recovery mode now since that warning screen is the first thing to pop up, and pressing power will continue.
Any tips/advice?

It'll boot to the lock screen. Which seems to be the safe spot since I can turn it on and off there without any issue. But the second I enter the password it's likely to crash before I can even see the home screen.

Now that corrupt error is back and when it boots I'm greeted to a black screen with constant phone vibrations instead of the lock screen. Would clearing system data in recovery mode do much?
