My phone seems to shut off after reaching and loading the DarkSide splash screen. I've tried to get it into Download mode but it goes into Recovery instead. What can I do? Also, odin doesn't recognize it in recovery mode.

You wont be needing unless you want to return the phone completely back to stock, or if you screw-up so badly that CWR no longer works for you this is a good safety net to go back to stock.
Prerequisites:
Get and Install the USB drivers directly from Samsung website http://www.samsung.com/us/support/do...SGH-T989ZKBTMB
click on "Software" tab
select the one listed as "Device(Install),Tethering (Software)"
turn off the phone
wait for the green battery to show up
use left hand thumb to hold on down vol+ & vol-
NOTE: Telus SGH-T989D only requires vol-
plug in USB cable
wait until it shows the Warning!! screen

Like going into recovery>install from sdcard? It won't load the external SD card for me to flash. As far as I know, I have the stock recovery but I still have the custom ROM splash screen.

Did you flash new Firmware successfully with ODIN.....
and......
did you actually get into Recovery mode and do the following, from the guide you linked earlier:
In recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now with the help of Volume rocker keys. Once it’s done, you then will have to select the option of “reboot system now” for restarting the device.

Hi,
I was updating firmware of my I8150 by samsung kies with cable..
during the download mode(it was saying downloading with green android logo) phone freezed but kies told me that it is succesfully upgraded and want me to restart the phone..I unplugged it and tryed to restart it by pressing power button but phone did not respond and stayed freezed...
than I removed he battery and put it back and now I am having this message "firmware upgrade encountered an issue.Plase select recovery mode in Kies&try again" on the display...
I tried to connect it to computer by kies again but kies could not find it and I can not see my phone in the list of Emergency Recovery Tool. After several googling, I tried to remove battery for more than 15 minutes and tried it again but phone neither enter into recovery mode nor visible to kies

If you can get into download mode as shown above, you can flash a FW.
You can probably find your failed Kies Download, which can be flashed with ODIN, if you search temp folders, as shown in this post:
http://www.samsunguniverse.com/forum/how-backup-firmware-from-kies-upgrade-process-t708.html
If you cannot find, there are any number of FW's which can be flashed....just post your Region, for the Phone[Radio], CSC is not so important, just Customer Software Customisation for Provider or Region and PDA[Software].
To flash with ODIN, check out and follow exactly THE-E tutorial:

I have a stock sprint galaxy nexus that I got off eBay about two months ago. To my knowledge it is completely stock.
I has been working perfectly until last night, when it rebooted suddenly, showed the google logo, then the nexus animation. It then automatically reboots and goes right back to the google logo, then to the nexus animation and continuously loops like that.
I tried going into recovery mode by holding down the volume buttons and power button, and going into recovery mode, but I get to a image like this,
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

then it eventually goes back into the reboot loop.
Is there any fix for this?

umm maybe get a restore tool? and flash it back to stock. im on the VZW one but the gnex tool i use supports all the gnexs and i just double checked and sprint is on it .. do you know if the bootloader is unlocked?? itll show a padlock on the bottom of the screen when the google logo comes up ??

Put it in fastboot mode. Hold volume buttons while pressing the power button.
From there you can flash a stock image either with fastboot or a toolkit

I tried clicking Unlock from nexus root toolkit, but I get ADB device was not found. Does the unlock need to happen when the phone is booted up? This would be a problem since I can't get the phone to boot.

Stop using toolkits. Learn how to unlock and flash your phone manually (check out the stickies in the Q&A forum) and you won't have 90% of these problems.
How can I put SuperSU.zip in the phone if it doesn't boot? How did I even have this problem if I never unlocked or rooted or flashed the phone? Is it possible that this is a hardware problem?
I was able to get to boot into Clockworkmod recovery, I did a wipe data/factory reset and it still reboot loops.

Hey,
I was installing the latest version of Paranoid Android on my wife's phone, with the latest TWRP recovery and something seems to have gone wrong. I wiped the system and caches since her phone was on CarbonRom, and then installed PA along with their gapps. I then had the phone boot on, let the phone stay on the bootscreen (they suggest up to 5 mins), but after almost 7 mins, nothing. After some searching I've tried booting into Recovery and since that had not been working (just boots to system, which is the endless bootscreen) I tried getting it to enter download mode so I can put it back to stock, no luck, same bootloop issue. Kinda getting worried it could be bricked, any help is very much appreciated.
Use the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit to download a factory image and start over fresh.
How am I supposed to use this program if my phone is stuck in a bootloop and I can not access Recovery or Download mode?
The only other option is to order or make a USB-jig to force it into fastboot mode, which will then allow you to use the Toolkit. If that doesn't work, then the bootloader is damaged, and you will have to exchange the phone.
I don't think bootloader get flashed when using cwm or twrp. Just try to pull the battery, put it back in and then hold vol+ vol- and power to get in fastboot. Once in fastboot just flash everything you need. If you need help with fastboot just check for the thread in general section about returning to stock.
If you can get to fastboot, try scrolling to recovery, and then factory reset, and see if it boots.
I believe I got it into download mode last night after many attempts at every battery and button combo I could try. Unfortunately I hit start too soon and it just booted to system, I believe I will have to make a jig and go from there, if there wasn't such a big issue with just getting into the bootloader or download mode I would have been done a long time ago.

EDIT: culprits:
a) when switching ROMs, you didn't wipe data/factory reset.
b) when you're in FASTBOOT mode, you use the volume keys to go up and down, through the several options, until you see RECOVERY mode; THEN, you press POWER to boot up, INTO recovery mode, which will allow, obviously, to factory reset (mind that if you formatted /system again, you will need to reflash the ROM).
Note: you should still read the guide I linked below.
Pull the battery out again, wait a minute, Hold VOLUME UP+VOLUME DOWN+POWER and you'll be in FASTBOOT, not DOWNLOAD mode. Then PLEASE, go follow efrant's guide that's stickied on General section, and stop messing around with toolkits. Here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895

People what are you talking about? USB jig will never bring you to fastboot mode! It's always download (odin) mode.
If you can boot into fastboot I would recommend you to at least re-flash recovery.
It goes straight to the battery screen. One time I've reached the stock recovery but that's it.
Hold all three buttons, vibrate , release power and hold volume up and down correct?

for download mode, it depends on the phone. The SGH-T989 is both volume buttons and power. The SGH-T989D is volume down and power. Or you can get a USB dongle that can do it for you (bridges 2 pins... I think it is pin 4 and 5, but I could be wrong).
OR if you can get it into any mode, you can use adb to get into download mode I believe by running "adb reboot download"

If phone is booting the rom that far and crashing on an app, I'd suggest to just boot into recovery and Wipe Cache & Dalvik Cache and reboot to see if is fixes issue, or try a Factory Reset in recovery.
To boot into recovery: Power off the phone and hold Vol Up and Down and Power.
Let go of Power once it vibrates, keep both Vol pressed until you're in recovery.

If no luck, then I'd just flash another rom from recovery, make sure you have the right recovery version based on rom you flash, if your recovery is TWRP, use 2.6.1.0 for any JB 4.3 based rom, and most will suggest to use 2.6.0.0 or 2.5.0.0 for older JB 4.2.2 or 4.1.2 etc.

Hello bro, i cant get in Download Mode, but i can go into Recovery, but when i try to install CWM or anything else, it says the Signature is Failed, and i dont have the toggle for signature, i dont know what to do, im thinking in test a JTag...
Worked for me, thanks!
Got TWRP installed and flashing away! What' are the good ROMS? New to this phone.
Stuck at "Recovery is not seandroid enforcing", can't boot into download mode.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S SM-T700.
Was following "Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 TWRP Recovery install super easy" on youtube trying to get TWRP installed. Flashify was giving an error, so I used the official TWRP app. I then rebooted into recovery, but now it just gets stuck at the Samsung boot screen with "Recovery is not seandroid enforcing." I tried volume down + home + power and volume up + home + power, but they just boot back to here. I found some guides online that said they can fix the issue, but they seem to require booting into download mode which I can't do.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
While holding down volume +and volume - and power button and plugging in a USB cable then when you see the battery logo then power volume -and the home button this should get you in to download mode but don't have the USB pluged in to a laptop only in to a charger......
Thanks for the reply - I tried that button combo while plugged into a wall charger and it does the same thing, immediately boots into this:

The only thing that I can recommend is remove the back cover and pull the battery plug for a second it look like you have flashed the wrong bootloader in Oden dose it have custom recovery or stock

By the way your tab isn't a tab pro 8.4 so there a strong possibility that you have flashed the wrong thing and bricked it....

Doesn't matter what state the device is in now simply hold POWER + HOME + VOL DOWN until the tablet restarts and DOWNLOAD mode appears.
Please don't post back saying this does not work as I guarantee it does if you do it correctly.
You have only flashed the wrong recovery there is no reason why you can't boot to Download mode.
Once in download mode flash the correct twrp or firmware.

Incorrect on both accounts.
I've recovered many devices and have bricked god knows how many times while developing.
If the device boots it's not bricked and considering he can boot to the Samsung logo the the bootloader is intact and thus download mode.

The only reason it's not going to download mode is because he's not timing the button combo right.
You can't permanently brick a Samsung device by simply flashing the wrong recovery.
If it boots it's not bricked that's all there is to it.

There is no timing to it is just pushing three buttons at the same time.....
You have to kill the boot loop by pushing power and volume up and down then put the USB cable in from the charger then the battery charging icon comes up......then you push power and volume down and home button to get you in to download mode......if this doesn't work then it is bricked

See you're incorrect again, you don't need to do any of that.
It does not matter whether it's boot looping, stuck on boot logo, in recovery or booted to android, you can hold POWER + HOME + VOL DOWN at ANYTIME for long enough and it will reboot to download mode.
Would you like me to purposely brick one of my devices to prove it? I'll do exactly what the OP has done and post the video. I[emoji55]
