Did you remove or freeze any bloat on your phone? If you did, you probably did it to quickremote.

Quickset SDK drains battery

Guys,
What is this QuickSet SDK ? Its draining battery hugely.
How can I fix this issue ?

Quick Set is for the IR remote control. Do you have it activated and showing on the lock screen?

Yes I've activated it.
The problem is when the screen is on and m not doing anything quickset is at large and hogs cpu. Never let it rest at 384 MHz...
Deactivating remote control is not helping. Quicksetsdk is still hogging cpu...
I checked running processes and cached processes. Nothing BT the name quicksetsdk is running...

The **** apk is a helper apk for qremote.
Now just for this remote functionality I can not let quicksetsdk to hog cpu all the time and make it run at 1134 or 918mhz even when remote is not used.
I disabled them. Now since then:
1. Cpu is at 384 for normal operations.
2. This resulted in battery temperature to be reduced by 5 degrees during normal operation.
3. Battery life of 25% is saved which otherwise quicksetsdk would have consumed. 25% of 85% of 3140mah = 665 Mah !!! Means ~1hr screen on time.
Its good to have remote functionality but a properly optimized one.

I am facing the exact issue in my phone . The Quickset sdk is consuming 40% of my phone's battery. Can you please tell us how you disabled the quickset sdk? Which ***apk are you referring to here? Need to get rid of this asap.

it works! :good:
my G pro now can last more than a day. Nice!
btw, I dont have Titanium, so I just go to App setting, and clear data of those 3 apk, and the battery hog is gone.

You only cleared the data of these apks ?
But when u start using the qremote the data is going to be there and the hog will return I guess...

yes, I only cleared the data, not freeze them
I haven't root my g pro, so I cant use Titanium to freeze them.
if I ever use the qremote again, of course the hog will return
another battery hog I know is Safety Care app....
it keeps running on background.
but I think I manage to shut it off by declining the terms of usage of the app
so far so good, the app doesnt go back and running in background

I have same problem, this quickset sdk draining my battery. But i still want to use it. If i freeze this apk's, that's mean i cannot use remote again ?
If you disable the apks you won't be able to use remote.
If you want to use remote then unfreeze them but 35-40% battery is consumed by remote once you configure and start using it.
LG is a black mark on android software development.
Okay thank you. I think i will freeze it for daily use. And unfreeze it when i need to use remote.
No root needed
Just disable the Quickset SDK app
you can do it using system setting > apps > all
scroll to quickset SDK > select disable
However, if you're rooted your phone. you can make a custom widget to enable/disable quickset SDK straight from home screen without getting hassle digging the setting menu.
Install app Freezer from PlayStore, use it to make custom widget.

[Q] Disable services for Apps?

I recently purchased the G3 I also have a G Pro. On my G Pro I could disable services for all the apps I jade on my phone through my task manager...am I missing something or is that option no longer available?

You need an app that requires root to disable system services, you can use an app called Disable Service or System Tuner, both will get the job done, I personally prefer Disable Service since it's nice and light weight.

[Q] Lockscreen Bypass

I heard a while ago there would be a way to bypass your lockscreen if your moto 360 is connected. Is there a way to do this through a 3rd party or root?
It's built- in in lollipop...

You can do it with "Tasker" and "Secure Settings" also, Got it running on mine.
If u have xposed framework. Install no lock home. Works with fingerprint scanner too.

Thanks, I'll have to check that one out. Here's the XDA thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-lock-home-v0-1-wifi-unlock-t2799087
Dislock (formerly Pebble Locker) from the Play Store also works. It only supports one device and does not support any lock other than pin or password, but it's free. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lukekorth.pebblelocker.
"Wear Unlock" in the app store does the job, works fine for the rest of us not on lollipop yet.

IR remote app?

My favorite IR remote app, AnyMote, seems to have trouble with the G4. Are there any apps that support it?

The built in remote app actually works really well, give it a try!
The G4 comes with an IR app called quick remote. Working pretty good for me, and as far as I know, more comprehensive and easy to use than anything on the Play Store.
If you don't have it, get it from the settings, about phone, update center app updates
Smart remote works nicely and has a big big library of remotes. Not the cheapest (or at least it used to be quite pricey) but I bit the bullet and its the best one I have tried.

Ah, didn't even see that in the app drawer. It's always a pain to sort through the bloat.

This Smart Remote? That's the app I've always used in the past, but it wouldn't work with my Samsung TV when I tested it out yesterday.

That one. Very weird. Maybe contact the developer and ask to add the remote.

I agree. I have been using that app for a while and never had trouble. Using it now on my G4 with remotes backed up from an S6.

Hmm, maybe it's my TV. This is the first time using it with that specific model, but the LG app worked. I'll have to give it another look. Thanks!
I use Smart Remote and havent any issues with about 10 products
The build in apps works for every single device in my home
Yes the stock app is good but it cannot be easily connected to tasker for some automation task like "AnyMote" which has a plugin for tasker
The best remote app I have found is RCoid. It's got a lot of remotes available to download but not as much as some other remotes. I like the interface which allows easily swiping up to switch devices.

Question enable taskbar with ADB?

Hello
I disabled the taskbar by mistake and wanted to enable it again, but everytime I try settings just crashes...so wanted to try enable it with ADB if possible, Thanks!
edit: I fixed it by transfer settings from another Fold4 via smart switch.

Just wondering why when you reenabled it it didn't work. A lot of people on here are using an app to disable services that you need a PC and your phone to work. I have disabled 20 or so services that I don't use but if I ever need them I can just reenable them with the app and have done so on occasion. Never the less I'm glad you got it straightened out.

I came on here to look for exactly this. Do you mind sharing what it is? I can't stand not being able to disable services and apps I don't use.

It's a paid app that's not in the Play Store. I've used it on my Note 10, Note 20 and Fold 4 with no issues.
