[Q] will it work if use mobilcity sim card?

This is my scenario. I own a galaxy SIII bought from ROGERS. I'm fed up with them and I want to switch to mobilcity. a customer rep from mobilcity told me that their simcard will not work on my phone . is that true? My phone is unlocked and I have a custom ROM. He mentioned because of the difference in the hardware. I'm not knowledgeable enough in this filed but I thought it was bull****. If my phone is unlocked how can it not work with their simcard?
That's interesting because they sell sims specifically for your gsm s3 here:

It might be because mobilicity uses a different baseband. I'm not too sure about it though.

The customer rep is correct. Mobilicity uses AWS spectrum for their network (1700 MHz), and the Rogers version of the S3 does not support this frequency. You need the T-Mobile version (SGH-T999).

I see. Are they the only network that operates that way? I've seen some of their Web ads and it appears deceiving, like any US/Canadian variant will work on their network
All SGH i747/747M have the exact same hardware. The only difference is the carrier

Mobilicity, Wind Mobile and Videotron are the three new competitors on the market, and they all use HSPA on AWS. They don't typically advertise that you need a specific phone, but the FAQs on their web site do, and their reps are quick to point it out.
All three are rumored to be looking at LTE, but that's only likely to occur after the upcoming 700MHz spectrum auction.

Well I made a fool of myself... I had forgotten mobilecity was included in the t-mobile forum. It looks like t-mobile phones will but not one like rogers and at&t.
EDIT: Does Canada has a prepaid/no contract carrier that is compatible with the big three in canada ?

Yes, there are a few MVNOs, such as Petro-Canada Mobility, PC Mobility, Speakout Wireless; these all use either the Rogers or Bell 3G networks, but not LTE. Each of the big three also owns a few more companies: Fido and Chatr (Rogers), Koodo (Telus) and Virgin (Bell).

[Q] Using AT&T Galaxy Note 2 in India (3G/UMTS)

Hi,
I searched whole Galaxy Note 2 Forums for my question but did not get direct answer. My question is
Can I use AT&T Galaxy Note 2 (SGH-i317) in India and get 3g data as is without making any modification to Bands?
or
Should I enable AWS (TMobile 3g/4g) bands in this phone to use 3G in India.
If anybody is using this phone in India, let me know how / which carrier in India are you using.

Depends what bands your carrier uses. The phone (without the AWS hack) supports 850/900/1900/2100 MHz for 3G.

I thought it supports only triband for 3g (900MHz being unavailable). Can you please confirm that SGH-i317 supports 900MHz for 3G.

I can't confirm that it actually works, other than this screenshot from my i317 (I did the AWS hack, which is why 1700 MHz comes up). GSM carriers in the US use 850/1900 (AT&T) and 1700/1900/2100 (T-Mobile) for 3G. So I can't see if 900 MHz works:
http://db.tt/WTFsWwwa
However, I don't think the phone will show bands that it doesn't support, so it should work. I have a hard time believing the phone is only Tri-Band, when my Galaxy S3 i9300 is quad-band (850/900/1900/2100 MHz) UMTS.
I know that the Verizon version works with 900 MHz because on Samsung's websites, it's quad-band UMTS. Yes, the Verizon version can also do GSM. It comes unlocked as well. You just have to use root and an APN application to add your carrier's APN, or just install a custom ROM that enables the APN menu.
I actually had the exact opposite question. I am planning on buying the Galaxy Note II (N7100) in India and I wanted to know if the 3G facility would work for any GSM provider in the United States?? I wanted to know if all the N7100 models (including the ones in India) are Quad band 3G. If so I guess the AT&T 3G should work as quad band would be compatible with the 850/1900 frequencies used by AT&T. Any help in this regard would be appreciated. I hope to be in the US from September for studies and thus wanted to be sure Id be able to use this phone for 3G there.

I wish... but couldn't find any on the web..
There was 1 on ebay US when I posted. BIN $550 but not sure if they shkp to CA tho.
Mine was delivered yesterday. I added 2 lines to my share plan. Got 1 S4 Active and a Note 8 LTE for $362 shipped. The Active I'm selling and terminating the line. Needed to buy Active for $99 to get the Note 8 for $199. If I get the $100 billing credit it showed I got.a smoken deal.
The AT&T promotion might make more available on eBay possibly.
There is an sgh-i467M model for Canada. Samsung just hasn't released the details about it yet. Pretty sure it's coming here and it will be different than the U.S. one. Maybe give it one more week. Starting to see leaks about July 11.

You could be right but I don't remember seeing a difference with the Note II. There's always the advantage of the proper frequencies and warranty coverage though.

Well for one thing the LTE Bands most used in Canada is the AWS 1700/2100 and then the 2600 Band. Most people in Canada don't want the AT&T version. They want the full version with phone function. The HK or Singapore version has the 2600 LTE Band but you have to watch out for the HSPA Bands because some of those models are missing the 1900 3G Band. Rogers/Fido uses the 2600 Band though it's not as large an area as the AWS Band. The HK version should work but I don't know of anyone here with one to test.

I tought the sgh-i467 wasn't the hk version but the att version ... don't att and rogers uses the exact same frequency range ?
also, for the phone feature, it's not in the sgh-i467 ? do you mean only the apk was removed or also the microphone ?

I'm talking about the device as it relates to it's N5120 LTE version number not specifically the source code numbers sgh-i467, sgh-i467M. The AT&T version removed the phone earpiece hardware from their model. If you look at the HK model you will see the earpiece speaker above the Samsung logo. I don't know if the internals have been changed but the source code doesn't allow for phone function. People are trying to get the phone function to work through Bluetooth or wired headphones but I haven't heard of anyone doing it yet.
In Canada the 2 LTE Bands are AWS 1700/2100 and the 2600.
I think AT&T also use the AWS and the other one is 800 or something like that. Ok so it's the 700 not 800.

[Q] Are all N900T LTE capable?

I would like to know if all the N900T are LTE enabled or if there is a 3G only model and a LTE model, and if there is how to differentiate them.
I'm looking to buy a N900T in ebay but only a couple listing actually mention LTE capabilities, while a lot of the listings mention 3G capabilities, so I'm a bit confused here.
I can't find any info on different versions of the N900T, and all the info I've found points to all N900T being one model with LTE capabilities. is this correct?
thanks

For Telcel - you would be better getting the N900w8 Canadian/Mexican version -- This version also has the ability to root without tripping KNOX and upgrade/downgrade to/from 4.4.2/4.3 - Which is nice -- Check out @polish_pat's guide over on the international Note 3 forum if you decide to opt for this model :good:
EDIT: Side note, not ALL note's support LTE - N900 Exynos do not support LTE as they have a different CPU.

Thanks for the suggestion, but besides the point that N900W are much harder to find, my main carrier is Movistar, Telcel is my "backup" mainly for my mifi liberate hotspot. The SM-N900T Note 3 supports bands 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), and 8(900)
The B series LTE bands supported are B4 (1700/2100) and B17 (700)
It doesn't look like there is much of anything you can do since the SM-N900T doesn't support the LTE bands that are used in Asia.

thanks, im in the Philippines, not really coz i do have a pocket wifi which suppports LTE and im having no problems with it. it's just that the phone is not picking up
i tried to do some research and found that my model SHV.. caters 1800 and 850 band for LTE, Smart telecom does cater 2100 and 1800, so that means that even if the phone doesnt support 2100, i should be able to get LTE through 1800 band..
thank you
