Totally not a stupid question. The ROMs do not have modems installed it comes from you stock rom or the Over The Air update from the carrier. You can download and flash them separately and to any version you desire.

Yep, what this guy said! They come separately, look for freeza's all in one if you're looking to update.

[Q] how to flash stock i9505 rom to m919

sorry, NOOB here.
Been doing some research here. I want to flash stock i9505 rom to my m919. From my understanding, I just need to flash the rom without the modem? If so, where can I get the file? all the stock i9505 rom files contain the modem. maybe there is a way to get rid of the modem from the file?

The CWM flashable are ok to use, just flash a T-Mobile kernel from T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4-> Android Original Development and you'll be fine. Just don't mess with the i9505's Odin stock .tar.md5's (or ANYTHING from the i9500 section); those are the ones that will contain all the good stuff to screw up our precious little phones.
Also, you must not have done much research as this subject has been covered many numerous times; not trying to be rude, just pointing it out.

None of the CWM flashable stock ROMs there have modems. There are modified/stock, debloated stock, and I think if you dig deep enough, there is just plain ole rooted stock; all w/o modem.
Get the omega rom and flash and flash a kernal from the tmobile so wifi can work *faux123 that im using and it for i9505 but on m919

[ REQ] Please port this tool

This is a tool from international gn2 section. It is intended tobe compatible with any 4.3 tw custom rom, installing all gn3 apps. If one of the very talented devs here could port this to our device, I'm sure it would be appreciated by many here.

I'm not a dev but I'm willing to do anything I can do to assist in making this happen.

Why don't you just use one of the roms that has the Note 3 features inside it already? All you have to do is flash t-mobiles modem on top of the rom install and it'll be just like stock + the n3 features.

Sorry if this is a stupid question: when flashing a modem after custom rom install, does the modem have to be in a .zip format? If so, where can I find a Tmo note 2 modem in .zip format?

Yes it does, but it has to be a signed .zip file. You can just download the latest one that's already been signed here: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23252070760975430

Paranoid Android (N7100) to LTE (T-Mobile, ATT Variants)

So, I hear that you can flash a N7100 rom to our Notes just by flashing the modem? If that's true, where are the modems so I can flash them after I install it or edit the package or something.

Where did you hear that? I am pretty sure the 7100 has different hardware and the roms are incompatible. You can port roms to our versions but as far as I know only 7105, T-Mobile, and att roms will work

N7105 ROMs are OK. No need to flash modern unless the ROM you flash has the modem included (very few do). I wouldn't run N7100 ROMs as there is enough of a hardware difference to potentially cause problems.
Damn, why dont they make ports for our phones? I like PA and Its only for the N7100 =/ Nobody updated the ports in the forum in months.

Flashing New Firmware

Ok, so after I update to a new firmware, does it stay with me after flashing a different rom? Or do I have to update to the newest firmware every time I flash a new rom?

You don't have to reflash firmware.
Well, that depends on the Rom.
If the Rom you'll install requires a new firmware then the answer is Yes.
Most Rom upgrades do not requiere firmware upgrade, that is why you need to read thr thread of the Rom.
Example: viper Rom. V1 to v2 requiered new firmwar, v2 to v3 required upgrade as well. 3.0.1 to 3.1.0 was a minor upgrade so no firmware upgrade was required.

Ummm... he's asking if he has to RE-FLASH the same firmware after a ROM update, not asking if he has to update his firmware to flash a new version ROM.
So yes, the answer is no.

Yeah, you got it. I just wanted to know if the firmware would "stick" after flashing a new Rom.

Updating my old GT-I8160 Ace2 to cm11

Hi there,
Sorry for bringing up these old stuffs.
I have a GT-I8160 ace2 brought in Hong Kong.
Running GB 2.3.6, baseband: ZSLG1, Build no.: GB XXLK7
using this custom rom.
i tried flashing TWRP then cm-11-20140807-UNOFFICIAL-codina.zip and finally Gapps . And of course, PWNED. Everything run smooth&nice except no radio signal. Did some search here and noticed i should first flash JB firmware before going KK/cm11.
My problem now is which JB firmware i should pick? and where to download it as most links here were dead.
also, i assume the firmware is one i need odin to flash, while kernel & rom can be flashed via cwm/twrp. sorry for these dumb noob questions, as i have been away from my ace2 too long and missed so many stuffs. sorry.
Thank you.
