[Q] Question about ADB pushing? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

sorry if i posted it on the wrong section but unfortunately there isnt a section for my phone(LG DoublePlay)
this is just a general questino about ADB pushing.
i accedentally deleted a system app on my phone and now my phone doesnt respond. i have a stock ROM and want to push the app back into the phone. but i forgot which system app i deleted.
also, i cannot flash the ROM because my phone doesnt allow that
QUESTION: if i push all the system apps/files into the phone, will there be two copies of the same or will it replace the original?

Pushing an app will overwrite whatever you're trying to. Why can't you flash?

i cant. my phone doesnt let my flash. there arent even any roms for my phone ....LG DoublePlay sucks. i wasnt able to fix my phone still. dont
know what i will do anymore. just cause i deleted something.

There's got to be a stock RUU image or something you can run. its definitely fixable most likely. Its late here and I've been sick, but if you send me a PM with the model of your phone and everything I will do some research.
(I realize the irony in that sentence. Lol)

Oh i see now... You're posting in the wrong threads. Anyway, you can push whole folders with adb so you should be okay.

so many thanks bro ive been asking around for days and no one seemed to help me. Anyways, my device is the LG DoublePlay(c729).
I downloaded a file from another guy that has the stock rom(funny cause there isnt a single on ein the internet. had to pm him for it).
anyways, after i rooted my phonei wanted to be an idiot and delete the bloatware. i accidentally deleted a system file on Titanium Backup
and an error came saying 'the process home(lge.SubDIsplayhome.app........" it has a force close button that when i click, it comes up again.
my phone works fine except the forceclose button and the second screen doesnt work(the LG DOUBLEPLAY has a second small scrren when you
slide it). So i read about adb pushing and figured why not? After hours of frustration and hair pulling, i was able to push and apk called SubDisplayHome.apk and .odex thinking that i mustve deleted that , since the there error said the the SUbDisplayHome blah blah stop working.
well, after i pushed both .apk and .odex into the system/app, i rebooted and it still gave the error. i then tried to use this program called batch adb or something(it "takes multiple files and pushes it to system). but i got errors on the program when it was pushing it. the top bar on my android phone dissappeared and so i rebooted it, and it came back. but i still wasnt able to get rid of that force close button. sorry if i made you read all this, ive given up on fixing this and am thinking of paying 200 dollars for technician repair at LG

TrevE.. Bricked my phone!

TrevE you do great work.. and yea i know that this is my own fault for flashing and im not blaming you... BUT i installed (and bought the pro version) your "logging test app v7" and ran the ICQ remove... rebooted my phone like it said to and now its a paper weight... I gets stuck at the "Samsung screen". I tried putting it into "download mode" and odin back to stock and nothing. It goes into the download mode screen but my PC will not pick it up at all. Yes i have the right drivers (I am not a complete noob). I tried it with odin3 v1.85 and v1.61.
Any advice on how to fix it? Any of you guys know if sprint will be able to tell it was rooted when I take it in for a replacement (I have protection).
Phone specs..
epic 4g
stock II22 rooted
persistence pays off. after trying to get my phone into CWM about 50 times it finaly worked! flashing a new rom now... I will not be reloading the app.. but im not going to get a refund either.. keep the buck, you do great things! But if you figure out why this app does not like the epic 4g let me know.
Did you use this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1247108
TrevE develops for HTC devices as far as I'm aware.
If you are looking for the original mod for CIQ removal by k0nane, then go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340083
Try removing the battery for a bit before going into download mode. Try both with wall/usb cable connected and/or sd card removed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359647
First off, if you don't blame Trev you should change the title...kind of rude. CIQ removal is not the same for all phones. You should have read more. Now to restore your phone follow this thread and if Odin isn't recognizing it no matter what then go to post 2 on using Heimdall to restore your phone:

I have had many of issues with odin, from not picking up to my screen turning random colors during odin flash.
You wouldn't by chabce have windows 7 64bit because its a pain with that os for some reason.
I would suggest uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them and it should run through the steps to rehook the drivers for odin, does for me everytime I flash with odin I have to reinstall drivers

Of coerce i dont balm treve... Thats the risk we take when we start to mess with our phones! But his app did crash it!! I sent him a PM so hopefully he will figure it out.. He does amazing this for Android, i have nothing but respect for him! If he tells me he has a problem with my title ill change it..
The first thing i did was take out the SD card but thanks for the heads up.
Odin has never once given me any problems and it now picks up my phone fine.
Thanks for the battery advice! I was only taking out for a minute or so, Ill try it for longer if i have any more troubles.
The phone is working great now.. just had to try to get into CWM about 50 times.
So say you don't blame TrevE yet your title says you do.
Pull the battery leave it out for a say or so and try again.

Dude. That is not for our phones. HTC only. TrevE has nothing to do with samsung phones.
Let's just throw an htc sense framework over touchwiz...it'll be fine!

you can modifying a windows mobile phone like 10 years ago!
i just saying it's stupid when you HARD RESET, it suppose to restore everything back to OEM/factory. not keeping the modified files when you HARD RESET!
i guess you never do a OEM factory windows OS restore before.

Again, if you've ever modified Android phones before, you would know this, and that's why if you don't know what you're doing, you should wait for a kernel that supports nandroid, or figure out if there is a program to go back to stock (I'm used to Samsung phones, we have a tool called Odin that will let you restore the phone completely to stock, bootloaders and all, not sure if there's an equivalent for lg). Factory reset resets the data partition, it is not meant to restore system, where is it supposed to restore the files you changed from? I'm really not trying to bash here, but again, if you don't know what you're doing, don't do it, or at least own up to your mistakes rather than blaming google

before i modified the file, i want to make sure i can go back to stock so i opened "LG Mobile software updater" and click on "phone recovery" then it gave me a screen that said "this will erase all users data. Aah I see... Yeah I don't have any experience with the LG Mobile Software updater, but I understand why you thought you could revert to stock. You said no ADB and the phone wont boot at all? Hrm sounds like you might be screwed until someone comes up with a CWM Recovery kernel or something, or until we find the LG equivalent of Odin. Not that I advocate this but does the screen do anything other than bootloop? If not, you could probably get away with going to ATT and tell them that that happened overnight? They'll probably exchange it for you, I'll do some digging for an LG recovery program though.

HELP! I lost my soft keys!?!?

Ok, i changed up my soft keys a few times... as per this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1413582
Here is my problem... I changed them a few times with no problem. I even made my own and it worked fine... then after I changed it maybe a 6th time, the keys just vanished all together. I'm not talking that they are just blacked out, I mean the screen has streached out the full 4.65" and there is no slot for the keys. I have no way to navigate around.
I followed the "Easy Breezy Method - Using MetaMorph". I worked every time, except the last one. I have tried reapplying ones i knew worked, but no joy.
ANY ideas???

Restore your last nandroid backup? If you didn't make one, then I'd run an adb backup and flash your ROM again:
Code:
adb backup -apk -nosystem -all -f /backup/backup.ab
Using -nosystem means your SystemUI.apk (which is probably hosed) won't be backed up (although I doubt it would back that up anyway). Then, restore using:
Code:
adb restore /backup/backup.ab
Curious, what was the last one you flashed?
I didn't make a backup because i'm running stock... stupid me..
The one i flashed that killed it was "grungetext"
I'm going to try flashing with the "Automatic Method - Images using Softkey Modder" ... that one doesn't require much from the phone itself... lets see what happens..
ok.. well doing the "Automatic Method - Images using Softkey Modder " didn't work.. i think i broke it...
Just noticed i don't have a notification bar either...
Your SystemUI.apk is borked. Find a stock one from whichever build you are on and push it to /system/app directory.
Metamorph has been very sketchy as it is kind of outdated and is not %100. ALWAYS just push images into apks manually. Its safer and you learn how to theme properly. Takes less time than Metamorph anyways.

[Q] Cannot get wallet to work

Ok. I am really upset with Tmo for blocking Wallet. I used it ALL THE TIME on my Nexus S on AT&T and I LOVED it. I've been trying to get it installed since October when I bought the phone and I cannot for the life of me get it to work. Everything I try fails or screws up the phone and I have to re-flash, so I eventually just said screw it and went to AOKP because I felt like trying something new. My friend said that I would be able to just install wallet once I did, but that is not the case. the install fails when using an apk, wallet is hidden in the market, and once when I got it installed it says "not available on your device/carrier blah blah blah" and quits. So, what I want is a solution. I need to know how to make this work because I am starting to get really upset. No solutions I can find work, nothing I've tried is successful... I might just be doing it wrong or missing something but I am determined to get it to work. NFC is working fine, I used it several times already.

I only did this for Stock rooted, but I think on you only need to modify build.prop and install like normal - if you want to change the build.prop back, you have to use the Modaco modified wallet apk. I think. I don't know, I just remember it being discussed in the thread that went over how to do it on stock.
If you want to use stock, there's a thread that will walk you through it on these forums, it's like, only one more step.

I tried that the first time and it caused a failure to boot. second time, it was a program that was supposed to do it for me - same result.
If you're using the Touchwiz fix (which I think is what you're talking about in the "do it for you" program bit -that will brick it since it's for TW ROMs only and not needed for/compatible with your ROM.
Did you do that or follow a different thread? If he latter, it might help to post in there or at least link to it here so people can see exactly what you did.

up until now I was using touchwiz. I screwed up the phone both times while using touchwiz. Now, I'm on AOKP and cannot find anything that works for that - everything seems like it's for touchwiz. What I tried was flashing wallet now on aokp, and it didn't harm the phone but the program will not work. If I load it, it just says "Unfortunately, Google Wallet is not yet available for your device or mobile network." and I want to know how to get around that on aokp, ignore touchwiz, I was just mentioning that because I ditched it in part due to the problems it had with wallet.
Like I said, I think you need to modify the build.prop just like before for the Wallet apk to install.
In the TW wallet thread, someone kept bricking their phone because they had a non-TW ROM and it was explained to them what to do instead. I would look there and read through until you find it.

There is a thread in the themes and apps section that does this automatically for you. You install the apk, you choose your ROM, phone an carrier and then it reboots, installs the all and a lot you need to do is open the wallet and activate your card. Then go back to the original installer app and revert your build.prop. it does everything for you almost. Check it out

I was using this exact app that it screwed up my touchwiz last time, and now it does not show an option for AOKP, just AOSP. Will the AOSP work?
Ok seriously. I didn't even run the app this time I just opened it and it screwed up my rom! God, why is this so infuriating! It was the thread about the by-hand fix for Jelly Bean.
I'd do it by hand just so you know exactly what you're doing so that you can troubleshoot if it goes wrong.
Are you rooted? I did this on the root66 root-injected ROM. I did find that you really need to check to make sure your build.prop has been properly edited - at first I was using an editor that just didn't work for whatever reason and wasn't saving the file.
This was the reason I rooted my phone and it worked great - so I'm sure you'll be able to figure out what is going g wrong and get it to work.

used an app from the market to edit my build.prop and it works perfectly now. Thanks!

Updated to 4.3 and now I lost hundreds of pictures and videos from gallery

I updated it on 12/09/2013 and I can only see pictures back until that point and not before! I noticed it too late..
Man I tried every thing I could. ****, I downloaded the entire internal memory and converted it to VHD so I could run Recuva but still most of the recovered files are in huge zips and cant open them with any 7zip/winrar type of software. I downloaded other picture apps and they dont see it either. The SD card has it's stuff still there so thats not a problem.
I have been told its because the first roll out of 4.3 was bad and some people had issues. I want to able to downgrade to 4.1.1 but for some reason most of the methods out there are for people who have a non-stock 4.3 OS and not the OTA update.
Can anyone help me? I really want those pictures/videos back!
So, how can I go back to 4.1.1? It might be my last chance to get it right. I have Clockwork recovery and tried to put on the stock tmobile OS but it always fails via Odin and Rom manager. Phone still works. please help!

I tried everything. I do believe it's gone at this point. I recovered a few pictures that were half cut off with a professional recovery sw. Freaking terrible. Lost so much stuff. Never again I suppose :/

Take a quick look in data/media/0 or data/media/legacy
Easy way to tell instead of looking thru all your folders.
Is the space still taken? If yes, then it's there somewhere, if not, then they are most probably done for.
