how can Google be so stupid!
if you replaced system files, even if you hard reset it still keeping the replaced files!
Wow maybe rather than bashing google for giving you the option of modifying files, you shouldn't be messing with what you don't know, go back to ios if you want all your decisions made for you

wow! google gives us the option to modifying the files! big freaking deal!
you can modifying a windows mobile phone like 10 years ago!
i just saying it's stupid when you HARD RESET, it suppose to restore everything back to OEM/factory. not keeping the modified files when you HARD RESET!
i guess you never do a OEM factory windows OS restore before.

Again, if you've ever modified Android phones before, you would know this, and that's why if you don't know what you're doing, you should wait for a kernel that supports nandroid, or figure out if there is a program to go back to stock (I'm used to Samsung phones, we have a tool called Odin that will let you restore the phone completely to stock, bootloaders and all, not sure if there's an equivalent for lg). Factory reset resets the data partition, it is not meant to restore system, where is it supposed to restore the files you changed from? I'm really not trying to bash here, but again, if you don't know what you're doing, don't do it, or at least own up to your mistakes rather than blaming google

Aah I see... Yeah I don't have any experience with the LG Mobile Software updater, but I understand why you thought you could revert to stock. You said no ADB and the phone wont boot at all? Hrm sounds like you might be screwed until someone comes up with a CWM Recovery kernel or something, or until we find the LG equivalent of Odin. Not that I advocate this but does the screen do anything other than bootloop? If not, you could probably get away with going to ATT and tell them that that happened overnight? They'll probably exchange it for you, I'll do some digging for an LG recovery program though.

my phone is not dead yet. it just stuck at booting screen and keep rebooting.
i can wait for LG to release a new firmware or ICS firmware then flash it.
or lg can just put the current stock rom there so i can reflash it!

Long story short, with above average ROM knowledge, and two previous successful flashes under my belt, I flashed Slimbean JB 4.2.1 Beta1 for my Sprint GS3 SPH-L710, and all was quite fine until I messed with menu/security/SIM PIN. Though I thought I was setting it for extra phone security, I actually implemented an unknownst-to-me feature that upon the following reboot, the phone requested a PUK code for a now-locked SIM card (my phone doesn't have a SIM card by the way).
After a long CS call to Sprint, including International Sprint, I was told to go to a local store. The short part of this story is that no one has been able to help. You see, since I DON'T have a SIM card, I have no ID to provide to Int Sprint for them to find a PUK code for me to enter. Although, I've had many troubles in doing so, I have since been able to reset the phone to stock factory settings; HOWEVER, this has NOT removed the PUK code screen, which prevents me from using the phone at all.
I am out of ideas of things to change, alter or fix to get rid of this issue. I have tried CWM and TWRP solutions with no success. In a sense, although I can do anything with the phone - recovery, download, flashing - except actually use the OS, I would consider this phone as useless as if it were bricked at this point. Any ideas from out there would be appreciated. Thanks.
Have you tried Odin

I would try flashing an odin stock tar, then re-rooting.
Nothing in recovery, such as a full wipe, factory and system reset fixed the problem?

I have successfully returned boot, system and recovery to stock, but this has not resolved the overriding issue. I don't believe I have tried to re-root since doing so. Perhaps that is worth a try.
EDIT: rerooting after Odin stock flash did not help the issue.

I am afraid none of these tasks worked. This issue must reside somewhere recovery can't get to, and only the OS can. The software is likely built so that a regularly performed task can't override a security issue - even if it is a false issue.

Did you have to contact International Sprint CS or just regular? How long exactly did you badger them? Had you flashed the phone, increasing your Binary count? If so, did Sprint not hit you with a bill after replacement? Just curious, as I have really upped my count due to recovery flashes to try to fix the phone. I think I can still get a Samsung E-ticket through Sprint store for about $37.00. But again, I am concerned about the flash count, and being unable to reset it. Perhaps I should do what I can to really brick it once and for all before I turn it over.

I don't think Sprint even implements that rule anymore so he should definitely be fine. Have you tried handsfree activation ------>

On second thought, your phone may not even allow you get as far as being able to dial the activation number, but just thought I'd throw it out there.

Yeah, I don't have any access to the phone OS whatsoever. Sprint tech has it now; doing some kind of process which includes a 40-minute file extraction and a 30+minute flash. Perhaps that will finally reset everything. If not, Sprint has already said it will then replace the phone.
Received a new GS3 today and I'm back in the game. Thank you to everyone who tried to assist me. In the end, no one on any forum, not Sprint, and not even Samsung could correct the original phone problem. The moral - be very cognizant and careful when flashing any CMDA variant of a native GSM ROM, as there could be settings within them regarding the SIM cards that GSM's do have, but CMDA's do not, or perhaps other harmful settings if messed with or changed. This warning is really nothing new to anyone flashing custom ROM's; it's simply another hard-learned lesson by one person whose adding more truth to the usefulness of such warnings.
Dodged a bullet yesterday. FreeGee unlock, chose TWRP and then went to flash stock v9 odex. Wiped Cache/Dalvick and then flashed. Upon reboot I saw LG screen then black and nothing. Tried to LGPNST from download mode with LG driver and could not detect phone. After messing around in TWRP for about 2 hours where I performed about every function available (just before throwing the phone into the fireplace), I queued the z9 odex twice let TWRP flash it twice and everything worked. Here's the thing, my wife's phone is incessantly prompting to update, so I need to flash her phone. Should I use clockwork? Anyway to avoid a similar issue and near total bricking of her phone?
Same thing using Clockwork on wife's phone. Now I'm trying everything to get it back. Still have recovery, but unable to complete system reboot. Black screen. Used to flash evo all the time, never an issue. Now I'm 0 for 2 with a miraculous boot and update on my phone. This one doesn't look like I'm going to get as lucky. CWM is a bigger pain too. Frustrated. Not looking forward to lgpnst (still not sure how it all works) and then trying this mess again.
I had a similar problem to yours last night to. Except I didn't really do anything to it. It was just sitting there charging and I took it off the charger and it was doing some kind of boot loop, But every so often it would just stop on a black screen. I lgnpst about six times back but after running root and freegee I would try to get into bootloader and it would do it again. Eventually I tried doing freegee with clockwork instead and it did it again, Than I forced the phone off and pluged it in to my computer to get ready to lgnpst again so I could at least use the phone. All of a sudden I look at the screen and there was a battery charging animation. And then unpluged it and for kicks turned it on and it booted up no problem. Then I tried booting into bootloader and all works now. It was really strange, I did put twrp back though. I like it better then clockwork. I think I sore you asking questions in irc while I was in there asking question to ha.

Frank...yup that's how mine worked. Just not sure how to do this. I don't think my failed lgpnst attempts did anything, b/c mine took the update eventually. I'll keep trying. This phone is so temperamental. Does Shellnut have some input on this problem? I can't figure out why some phones take and others don't when doing the same thing.
Talk to Shelnut2 over pm or find him in irc. I just found out there is a special version of freegee that may fix the problem. I seem to have fixed mine but I sent him a pm asking some questions about the problem. I think you are going to need to lgnpst back. Then root and run the special version of freegee. You have to get it from him because it does some things different that may brick the phone permanently. Thats why you have to ask for it. From what I understand it fixes that kind of problem.
-Frank
I will. I'm going to see if this thing will self correct. Otherwise I will check with him on that. The LGPNST is something I'm not looking fwd to doing.
LGPNST is not detecting phone in dl mode but does detect when in recovery. This SUCKS. Frustrated and out of ideas.
When you installed lgnpst did you install the file that says auto-lgnpst? Also did you run install.bat as administrator?

Always backup your phone before tinkering with system files, and experimenting with launchers, kernals etc.
Titanium backup in WORTH the investment to upgrade to PRO.
Rom manager is a good one to boot directly into recovery without fiddling in the fastboot menu. And for backing up settings and roms.
Always KNOW what your doing. lol. sometimes even the big guys forget this. RESEARCH!
I like lg's hardware. I had optimus 3d and now have optimus g. Both has great hardware.
I have flashed custom roms since windows mobile days, so i should have a little experience..!
But you can never be sure to flash safely especially with Lg. You can loose your imei, baseband...etc

You can't blame LG for a mishandeling YOU made.
I had HTC's and Samsung in the past, they all present a "bricking" potential if you start to fool around with Kernel, custom rom, etc.
Now, you should try to restore it back to stock to see if it fixes your issues.

Yes, I've read your post: You've flashed a custom rom and now get a kernel error.
Go back to stock in download mode using KDZ updater and you should be ok.

Rooted and unlocked with a custom bootloader is not stock. You can have a lot of issue with the wrong bootloader. I once did!
Get it back to stock with the KDZ, you'll know if it's a software issue and if it's related to the custom/unlocking/rooting.

Finally... I figured it out. I have used the old KDZ updater and after tons of try, i did it. But again as i said no more LG... Maybe we should stick with a phone that has a sd slot. : )
A sum of what i did
1- find a stock rom from http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=20
2-Get old KDZ updater i have uploded and remove zip from the name
3-In KDZ updater choose 3GQCT and i think it was cs emergency, i am not sure and choose your kdz file and finally launch software update
4-Connect your phone in download mode to pc. KDZ updater has kicked the phone out of download mode and couldnt find the phone. Just try again and connect phone again while it extracts kdz file. You could also try different usb ports as i did.
Thats all.

Hi. I am encountering problems after installing this CWM-based Recovery v6.0.4.4
I admit, I am a noob regarding this.
Going back, the phone can access The CWM-based recovery by pressing the power button and volume up, can use menus, advanced menu,
I wiped the partition and cleared cache and dalvik cache but when you restart, screen stops at LG logo and (Secure booting error, Cause: boot certification verify) text is displayed.
I know I was unsure of everything and flashing androids are new to me especially on my device.
can I unlock the bootloader even with the CWM-based recovery alone?
Model name: F240S
android version. 4.4.2
I'm having a similar problem. I have CWM from Freegee on my phone.
Last night, when I was unable to flash either or two different roms, I decided to check for an OTA update. The phone downloaded it, and when it was finished, it went into looping into recovery. I then decided to factory reset, wipe data.. still phone goes back to recovery. Then I decided to just use the backup I had made earlier in CWM. Still stuck in recovery loop.
Anyone? Anyone?

You can't install an OTA update with a custom recovery. It needs the stock recovery. Time to familiarize yourself with the TOT method of flashing back to stock

I just did some more searching. I'm coming up with stuff like "install the lg flash tool" , "and if that doesn't work, install (If you cannot run LGFlashTool2014.exe, please install Visual C++ Runtime Library) - VC_RedistInstaller.exe - 47.7 Mb"
HOLY PHUCKING HELL! WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO? Go get a phucking degree from MIT to just to use my phucking fone???
Seriously. Someone on this site needs to learn how to teach. I know that there are men here with IQs in the upper range of 140 plus.. but they can't teach. sad sad sad.
I've been going at this for so long now. My computer is littered with downloaded files. And then the phone I had before this it was like, hmmm, I'll flash a cyanogenmod rom because they under stand the common man. WRONG. Their mods suck battery life more than stock roms. Okay, I'll flash Carbon rom... not any better, devs have purposely darkened the screen to make it look like battery life is better.. I tried rom after rom after rom. They all have problems. NOt just minor problems either.
Android is the punk in prison that gets passed about by the violent inmates. First Samsung has his way with Android, then Google gets in on the gangbang and then Verizon or AT&T gets sloppy thirds..
I have an e980 and this method had been flawless multiple times. As far as battery life, that all depends on 100 different things, but I always flash madmack's modem, then wipe cache and dalvik. Deep sleep is pretty much guaranteed after that.
Edit: forgot the link for the back to stock method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302660

I searched for a day or two from the forums and they said that there are no unlocked bootloader for 4.4.2 OTA yet.
so sad.
What i did was I used the LG mobile support tool and my phone went back to stock.
my device is also unsupported on Freegee and on CWM, my device isn't available.

Your dramatized posts between threads show you are having a hard time. A person does not need a degree to flash, just the patience to read a lot on a forum like xda regarding their phone and android in general.
People only notice something like battery life on a given rom due to the presence of other options they can compare it to. Apple, for example, is just one thing. One ios iteration having a better something over the other is irrelevant as there is nothing to apply degrees of comparison to. Then, hardware variety, etc.
Some of the points you are upset about in the process of flashing could be resolved by a google search or xda forum search.

Well I finally got it working.
What one has to do to get roms flashed is to use madmacks's term. And when you're on recovery mode, you must toggle Loki support to disabled or the install of the new Rom will abort.
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.

For the record, I did search. And search. And search.
The problem here at xda is that many of the developers are so smart that they are unable to articulate down to us regular people.

Should I move this question to another post?
I have another problem. my phone just got no signal and says "Service disabled". on the notification bar it just loads and says "Searching for networks". it never found any networks. I switched the same SIM to another phone and it has a signal. the problem happened after I edited the build.prop and changed the ro.build.local from "KR" to "US" just to remove the dual clock from the lockscreen (because F240 has a dual clock which is non-removable except if you use the sqlite editor but that method did not work for me. the editor closes and says "*programname* has closed unexpectedly").
I made a factory reset and still there is no signal. I'm using stock kitkat firmware from LG and not rooted. can you help me with this one?
Thanks
Have you checked your apn settings?
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.
No, I don't have APNs listed.
but, I was able to install sphinx rom and now the phone always says "unfortunately, com.android.keyguard has stopped" and the phone app was gone, APN settings also gone, call logs gone,
For a short while, I didn't think I had apn's listed but I was not looking in the right place.

Probably no baseband or null baseband, my suggestion, flash stock through flashtool, if you have free gees made an efs folder you can always restore that too, but i think flashing stock would solve the baseband problem, if that doesnt, there is an online flashing method, that can help

I don't know about the flash stock through flashtool. I use mobile support tool which I did last night and it was a success. "com.android.phone has closed unexpectedly" or something like that does not appear now on SETTINGS>Tethering & Networks>Mobile Networks OR T Roaming>Select roaming network. because before I'm encountering if I go there.
one last thing is that everything is now stock but still I don't get the signal. unlike before. the signal goes back automatically.
about basebands, I do have a baseband. same as before and I still have my IMEI intact.
That is strange, there is a thread of hyelton, in general section, get the lg flash tool from there, and try to flash the appropriate tot file, if you flash the tot or kdz file for other model, this might result in loss of network
Sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I messed up my phone cause I'm not very smart and do not know what to do. I have an ATT LG G4 H810g rooted with LER. I foolishly froze my systemui in TIT BACKUP when freezing LG apps and when my phone rebooted I was stuck in a loop with Unfortunately Stystemui has stopped and my phone wouldn't let me do anything.
SO I tried to a system restore (not sure if I should have done this on rooted image) my phone restored and got me to the setup screen but when I tried to finish the process, I get a crash that says Unfortunately LG Setup Wizard has stopped (assuming its a app I froze with TIT BACKUP). So my phone is not unusuable and not sure what to do.
I tried to reflash rooted 10g image with LER but the same thing happens after its done with the Setup wizard failing.
PLEASE HELP how can I fix my phone?
Thanks.

Something similar happened to me and my setup wizard would fail in an endless loop. Had to go to AT&T and get a replacement.
Also...
Adding to my stupidity, I don't have stock image on my phone, so even though I downloaded the stock 10g, my computer won't recognize my phone Im assuming since usb debugging cannot be selected.

Yeah I have insurance so that is my last resort, but will they know my phone was rooted and not give me a new phone? Not sure what the carrier will do for me.

No, they wont know since it won't boot anyway. They will see the setup wizard fail and won't be able to troubleshoot it any further and will give you a new one. At my repair center they said it's not a phone they stock and had to mail me one so be prepared for that.

yup...a couple times, even reflashed the rooted 10g image, still fails, i froze the setup wizard with tit backup (didnt realize i needed it) and now the phone endlessly loops the setup screen and wont let me into the phone, nothing works, cant enable usb debugging to add stock image to internal storage to flash, cant do anything, keeps looping.

Definitely just do a warranty claim. The exact same thing happened to me with the setup wizard... it sucks!
A possibility is to kdz an uprooted version of the 10g image so the titanium will no longer have root. If that doesn't work I think there is an option in the kdz method to erase data, which should erase all the apps.

no kdz for ATT, only TOT which is unavailable, my thought was to put a stock image on internal storage, but since phone is now restored, cant access usb debugging, so computer wont read phone.

A KDZ would be very very helpful... if there were any available for the AT&T variant. Currently there are none so this isn't an option.

Yes you can but you won't ever be able to come back to AT&T firmware and thus won't receive any AT&T OTAs (if you care about them). You will be stuck on the PR firmware and will have to wait until updated KDZs for PR are available to update to newer firmware. I chose not to go with this because of the OTAs.
Another option then is to find an unrooted system image of the AT&T g4 h10g and flash it like you would the rooted system image. Just make sure you change the name of the image file in the command to the name of the image. Then try a phone restore after that.

Can you not just put the file on sdcard and use that?
Dont have my g4 yet so im not sure.
