Hi there guys i was going through the thread about the samsung galaxy tab series not having a keyboard and how samsung has withdrawn their keyboard dock. So now i am working on a project to get produce something similar to that for the samsung galaxy tab series.
I want to know your opinions, lets make this come to life not just some thing we want and cant have :good::good:
I took some time to create a mock up which didn't charge my device but totally working and comes with 2 otg USB port.
Needs a track pad.

That will be implemented in the end product .
Will the keyboard also be able to incline tablet at different angles? And close perfectly like a asus combo does?
If u can make it.. I promise to buy it.
Thanks for taking the initiative.

Thanks i will try and make it cant say the cost price but looking at about 100-120 pound.
it will, also thinking of implementing a rotating hinge like that in the hp touch smart laptops for the galaxy note version.
And i also noticed the different samsung tablets 10.1 has varying dimensions have to get a standard dimension to meet them all
And taking up a notch a illuminated keyboard. How cool will that be
Would it be possible to have an integrated battery also?

Yes it will have a battery of its own.
more of the same
I've returned two keyboards for my Note in the past week and they had similar "flaws" :
- When the tablet is on the keyboard, the charging cable can't be in place so you can't charge the tablet.
- One of the reasons I got the Note was because I use handwritten notes for my meetings throughout the day - the keyboard has to get comfortably out of the way when I want to write on the table.
- The tablet's 30 pin port needs to be accessible when the keyboard/case is closed.
Almost all of that is satisfied by mimicking the Asus design for the Transformer series, except for the keyboard getting out of the way for handwriting. A Swivel hinge like on the Thinkpad Twist would solve this
That aside, you're on the right track. The features I miss most from the Transformer pad is how it folds shut so neatly, charges the tablet and runs off of its own power. Also it looks damn sexy.
Good luck with your build and I can't wait to see what you accomplish.
A keyboard that has illuminated lights, has a built in battery, HDMI and USB support needed. Ethernet port if possible
As long as it closes the lid as well like a laptop.
Then yeah that would be cool, wouldn't mind paying a bit more for those.
I hope the 100-120 pounds includes international shipping
Also, if you can create TPU keyboard protectors for it then that'd be awesome (unlike those cheap silicon ones)
Subscribed. Been looking for this exact concept for my 10.1.

Subscribing to this for sure.

Keep it up!
I would love to have one of those!
Please do not make compromises in quality!
I could life without trackpad, if the keyboard is of decent quality (i.e. Logitech/Zagg Keyboard stand or Samsung Keyboard folio for the Tab10.1N)
The rotation feature would be awesome too!
Looking at the whole dev in Linux ports lately your keyboard will get a sales hit, as it would turn our tab in a kind of convertible ultrabook!
It's a great idea. If you get it, i will be a future owner.

You're saying that you're product would be for the Galaxy Tab series. I am a new Note 10.1 owner and haven't done a lot of reading but it's my impression that the design of the tab vs the note would make this product incompatible. Is this not the case?

Welcome to the Note 10.1 club. When i say galaxy tab i mean the 10.1 tablets and the note 10.1 is part of that family. They share thesame connector (30pin) thereby making it compatible with samsung and other upcoming tablets

Thanks for the response. Good info. I guess the only concern would be that it would fit the dimensions as I've read that there are variations. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

hi,
i'm looking for case that could transform note 10.1 into netbook. the problem with cases i can see on the market is that all of them are unstable or need a kick stand to work properly. what im looking for is pretty much like a laptop where screen is actually a note 10.1.
below is the link to the ipad case which is exactly what im looking for note 10.1 but no luck.

please has anyone found anything like this?
thank you!

Alas. That is what I have found too. The Asus Transformer has a wonderful snap-in keyboard that has a laptop-like hinge and provides extra ports. Companies make similar things for iPads. While Android tabs outsell iPads, the iPad form factor is by far the biggest in use as one company makes them all. I think the Android tablet market fragmentation makes it too costly to make good products for a specific model as there isn't a big enough market.
My only question is why doesn't Samsung make a better keyboard dock. It seems it would be in their best interest...
Just a couple of posts down from this is a post on an original dock for the Galaxy Note 10.1.
Am I missing something?
edit: Oh hinged

Actually this still isn't true for tablets. While Android is outselling the iPhone when combined (and in some markets the S3 is the best selling smart phone), the iPad still has over 50% of the tablet market.

Sup guys.
I'd like to ask owners of SGN-II - do you guys think this mobile is worth buying now, some months before release of SGN-III? It - presumably - will have better hardware and bigger screen, but would it really matter?
I'd also like to ask if somebody uses SGN-II on a regular basis to take notes and stuff - I'm planning it to use as a student (Bc.) instead of "old" paper notebook and wonder if it's screen going to be sufficient for that.
Cheers.
If you wait for the note 3 you might as well wait for the note 4. The s-pen works really well for taking quick notes but the screen may be a bit small for your needs. Have you looked at the note 8.0? The note 8.0 would be a lot better for taking long notes, IMO.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Imo the note2 would be too small for your needs. I have note2 which is an awesome smart phone but I wouldn't use as a educational tool, I also have the note 10.1 which given the extra screen space is a much better option.
I also recently sold the galaxy tab 7.7 which I loved and only sold as I realised my note 2 is JUST large enough to make a small tab unnecessary, so now I use the note 2 while out and about and the 10.1 while at home. Just my opinion.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
As someone who's got all three of the current Galaxy Note range, I'd say the Note 8.0 would be best for your needs. The screen on the Note 10.1 looks like fuzzy garbage and it's a bit too heavy to use comfortably as a paper notebook replacement. The Note 2 is ok for quick notes but not suitable for use of any duration. Note 8.0 is the sweet spot, both portable and practical. Battery life isn't the best but it will get you through a full 8 hour day.

Thank you for your suggestions guys, I'll take a look at Note 8, however I really liked AMOLED screen on SGN-II, looks so... vivid and bright after my Desire S, lol.
Y'all may think I'm crazy, but I went to the AT&T store last night to look at the LG Optimus G Pro and compare the screen with my Note 2. As far as resolution goes, I couldn't tell the difference and my daughter agreed with me. Maybe if you hold the phones 5 inches from your face you would see the big difference that everyone is talking about. The only thing that looked a little better to me were the whites. The speed I've been hearing so much about, well my note 2 was just as fast at scrolling, loading apps and browsing the web. Maybe its the rom and kernel I'm using (Hawkish rom and Perseus kernel). I'm glad I went and looked at the LG because I was jealous of the 1080p screen that I've been hearing so much about, but no more. The Note 2 is a fantastic device with a nice screen and a tone of features. The development is outstanding as well with the Note 2. We have a lot of very talented devs.

Some suggestions were made about getting a note 8 but you could also consider getting a Bluetooth keyboard to type with the gnote2. Take the nerd factor to the next level.

Hi,
Simple answer. Yes.
I am a student but I make my notes old skool with pen and paper. The Note II is fast and smooth enough. After 2 or 3 years I will buy the Note 5 or 6.

My firends, I'm thinking that I really need a tablet to complement my SGN2. I don't want to close any option before I hear from you. I'm an advance user, and I'm looking for something that really gives me more that my sgn2. I used to have an iPad I sold it because only my children were using it to play around, but since the anounncement that office 365 was out in USA, I'm thinking to get me an iPad mini. Another choice might be an w8 tablet, since I want it only to get my job done (lots of reports and presentation, microsoft dominates my working environment). I was thinking also to let go my SGN2, get an HTC one and buy a note 10'. What do you think?? Please help me out here.

I have been wondering same thing, as I don't want smaller than 10" tablet with my 5,5" phone, also I've been thinking about W8, because would it be slightly stupid to have android tablet with Note 2?
Can't you do everything as with android tablet with your Note 2?

I would honestly go with the iPad, despite what "some" people might say.
You already have an Android phone so you can get best of both worlds if you get an iPad. Similarily, it is hard arguing against the fact that iOS has a slightly better standard of apps than Android and is streets ahead on WP8 (which i actually quite like). Also, more apps are designed specifically for the tablet and you will get the benefits of this.
Therefore, despite how good something like the Nexus 7 and 10 may be, I would definately be more inclined to get an iPad if I ever decided to venture into the tablet world.
Yeah, I see your point. I was thinking w8, but I don't know if it is up to the challenge, and also creating a new account and buy all the software that I need again it just doesn't seems right

From my experience I like having Android tablets (a Galaxy 10.1 and an Asus EeeTab) to compliment my Android phone- lots of nice sync-ing between the two from factors is good to have. I also have a w8 RT tablet that gives me all the sync-ing between my PC's (both business and personal). I do have some cross-sync between my Androids and my w8 worlds with Lync and office using sky drive.
I've made a personal choice not to have any Apple in my tech Universe... I simply don't find it very appealing... Same goes for a windows based phone. But anyway, that's the spread that works for my wordl... both all Android and windows 8 based tech.
Cheers

I found it works fairly well, given of course the smaller screen size. I have the touch (the one with the raised keys) keypad that I can type really well with, plus having a full usb port I can attach a real mouse. Of course the big thing for me will be when windows blue comes to the RT tablet- this is promised to give full outlook. The native mail app is ok, but it's not outlook. Windows blue is due out in the next few months, so this should make my w8 tablet even better. As far as the other office apps, these are like the PC versions and come pre-installed on the RT. Of course, with office 365, web office apps are a possibility as long as you are connected.
Then there is the windows 8 pro tablet that is available now... this is full pc... not really sure it's worth the extra $$$ since the rt does what I like... super mobile, long battery life, inter-connected with the work life, etc. Until Office comes out for Android, I don't know that I can fully switch to the Android platform for my entire mobile life.

One must always consider the possibilities... and indeed RDP into a remote PC... yes doable... then there's those Office Web Apps... but like lauchon... I was thinking about a single smaller than a PC larger than a cell phone device.... and the thought of carry all of that to my Starbucks - I hate lugging the laptop about... so a tablet is my ideal device foot-print. and the Surface tablets fit the bill for me... the touch pad is light and has a mouse area built-in... so a single device can be done... when you don't need the full keyboard and mouse.... like in the bed... you have the touch screen...
Today I saw this articule, what do you think??

I Always felt that tablets were useless, but i needed an office compatible device and I decided to go with the Acer iconia w7 .
It has changed my life. Great battery life (up to 6/7 hrs At minimum brightness) good performance (i have the i3 versione) and really awesome full hd display.
It also has Windows 8 pro, so I have a real pc in a really small form factor.
I bought mine for 450 euros, ir was used for one month and actually i was Lucky since it was like new

I don't know if you made your mind already. But I must advise you to buy the iPad mini (32gb with cellular).
I played with lots of tablets in my work and I'm telling you, no tablet came near to the qualities of iPad mini.
It's perfect for writing with both hands, very fast, has beautiful screen.
I wanted to buy an android tablet, but when I played with iPad mini, I changed my mind
I compliment mine with a Note 8.0, I do use it for mind mapping but not for spread sheets so I can't comment in those

I just ordered it and I will have my paws on my Note on Monday. I am very excited but I want to know what everyone else thinks. I have gone back and forth from Android to Apple and back. I wanted to go not only Android but back to Samsung. I am looking at going to the Galaxy Note 4 when that goes on sale next month.
But really. with not having root access (yet) are you still happy with the Note 10.1?
Happy? Yes, very.
I have the P605, so am rooted without knox fuse trip.
It took me a while to choose a tablet, UK Note 10.1" 2014's are only 16GB Wifi only versions AFAIK, and for the money I was spending I wanted better specs, so I had to order a Hong Kong p605 import which allowed me to have 3g/4g and have 32GB storage (64B would have been too much $$).
I was replacing a Note 1 (n7000) so needed something that I could use as a phone too, didn't want to mess with 2 devices, tethering, etc.
The only issue I have so far is a distinct lack of accessories. I wish there was a choice of docks, cases, etc.
So yeah, other than that, very happy, it is fast and smooth and does what I need it to.
Some UK carriers don't allow tablets to be used on their networks, my 3 sim detected and rejected my p605 saying it was not allowed, but that is not really the tablets fault.

First let me say that some people are not happy with anything, and nothing is ever perfect.
I have a stock SM-P600 32 GB and I'm very happy. I also have a Stock GT-8013 that was restored back to stock from root and my wife is happy with it also.
Had my SM-P605 LTE tablet since December and still loving it. Not rooted and with OTA updates I am at KitKat 4.4.2. I use Nova Launcher and it's smooth as butter. No issues whatsoever. Enjoy your new baby
The best tablet ever, even sale my iPad to get this one and I dont regret it. I have upgrade to KK rooted and install custom rom. ?
Am I happy with the tablet? Thats a deffo yes it is truely an awesome tablet.
Am I happy with samsung updates? Thats a different subject lol. Either way overall theres no denying this tablet is amazing but maybe I'm just a tad wierd and slightly annoyed at the way Samsung handles their updates (Still no kitkat in UK 10 months on), I keep blabbering on that this is my last samsung product but who am I kidding - nothing compares in terms of note features. Will have to wait and see haha.
Anyhoo am sure you'll love it

The screen is outstanding, the performance is great, the spen works really well. I don't like that the USB plug is at the bottom of the device. You cannot charge the 10.1 while watching movies in landscape. The 12.2 has the plug on the side.

There is original dock station for our baby and also I have information from official samsung store that this one
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/EDD-S20JWEGSTA
also will work, still I did not test it yet.
To be in subject. I love my P605 and I hate Samsung that they did not focus more on promotion of it and there is few accessories in the market which you can get to it.
Second thing is the lack of support for many software designed for it. For example:
1. No possibility to unlock your PC(send ctrl+alt+del) when you are connect to it via Samsung Remote PC
2. Few note themes to SNotes - they could add much more
and much more.
Still it is defo worth to get it since it is still the best Tablet with Android in the market(TAB S don't have SPen and Xperia Z2 tablet is only marketing nymber1)
BR.
I have the exynos p600 and am very unhappy with it. I'm used to very fast speeds as I find on my smart phones but Samsung tablets lag way too much. Doesn't matter what specs you load them with. Nova helps a bit, but the Kitkat update is probably also enough already.
Sort of; great tablet, great screen, pen is a blessing for school notes and drawings, the processor is a beast and it has enough ram. Now, i dont like almost anything that samsung did with it, it is either useless, buggy, slow or too small a detail to have touchwiz for. I wish i could deal with it installing cm or any other distribution but i have the p600 model so it seems i am ****ed. Sorry if i cant give opinion of roms like hydronium and xkat but i havent tried them because they seem to be only scrambled touchwiz.
All in all, for the price i got it for(around 400$) and with so so writing apps like "write" this is one of the only tablets that let me use it as a notebook so i am mildly happy with it.
TL;DR: Tablet is great, Touchwiz is not that great. Get p605 model.

I'm happy with this tablet, but not happy with stupid Samsung.
Very happy with this tablet, but can't stand TouchWiz and any of the S apps.
Replace TouchWiz with either Nova or Google launcher and S apps with anything else from Google Play (example: lecture notes).
About a year after Android L comes out and we are still on kit kat, I might feel a little different.

HI,
I am recently looking for a tablet for my nephew who likes to do alot of skype and selfie as well as watch cartoons and play games. Is this tab still worth a shot? What about the development for this device till now? Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Still a good buy, my T800 display is the best I have ever seen, and supposedly being updated to marshmallow by samsung within the next couple of months.

Hello Friend,
this tab is long on the market, so the last the last possible new official OS would be 6.0 (supposedly, it should roll out soon, I am writing probably because I won't believe unless I see it). I won't write about unofficial because i haven't use it yet, stock is (FOR MY NEEDS) perfect. But let's back to your topic:
- front camera could be more better for selfies and skype, in my opinion it's low
- display -resolution, colorus , quality - FABOLOUS (referring to cartoons and games)
- battery, I think it could be better, just my opinion, I get 5-6 sot (mixed ,some youtube, but some reading text, some internet browsing) in my opinion it's too low, but of course any user can have even less or much more
-performance idk about games - don't play, but youtube in 1440 p, browsing the internet it's pleasure
- if your nephew is young and doesn't care about screen quality, and may broke tablet easily I would by sth cheaper, with lower resolution , somthing wit nice ratio of value for the money
what else? it's thin, elegant, I just like it and hope to get official 6.0, no matter what it wil stay with me for long time (hope battery will stand it)
Cheers,
I have worked at Samsung when Tab S2 was releaed and I decided to buy Tab S LTE and I like it. Almost a year with me, running on custom 6.0.1 now and I have nothing to wish about, except of probably 10.5" foldable tablet. There is no alternative of that weight and quality forva ful scale remote computing I use daily.

Foldable tablet !! Lol . Here too I want foldable tab! [emoji23]
BTW I got both Tab s and S2 and both work great except tab s2 has better battery consuming . If development is most important thing and screen quality . Look at Nvidia tablet. it is good in development side and gaming.

If screen quality isn't of major importance (not that it's bad) then I'd look at the Tab A, it's just got mm and less than half the price of a Tab S.
