I had the same problem with my old MP3 player, where the connection from the 3,5mm socket to the board was defect, I fixed it with soldering the connection.
Im not sure if your problem is also caused by a defect connection to the board, but a suggestion is better then nothing

I have had issues with my speaker after multiple attempts to repair. Its not the first time I've seen it, I've seen a few phones with this issue. No repair is possible. I've used 3 different known good speakers and no luck. I checked the connector and it looks good....I cleaned it after the fact anyways to see if it would make a difference and it didn't. So my question is has anyone run into it and fixed it with out getting an exchange and where can I locate a diagram of the main board so I can fix this problem.
Also spare me the just get an exchange BS. Please any help would be appreciated.

How was the screen affecting the speaker if you don't mind me asking? I'm curious to know as I've had issues with mine also.

So my note 2 mic is not working . Only speakerphone and bluetooth work. My question is is the mic easy to replace? Is it part of the motherboard or seperate? If its seperate anyone have a broken note 2 willing to sell? Is it weird that speakerphone works and not regular method of talking on a phone? Any help would be great. And by the way no voice apps work either ie google svoice etc. Thanks

Try going back to complete stock rom. If you are on custom rom.

What's funny is that if the speaker phone is working. Then in theory the Mic should b good. Because it uses the same one! I agree with the above poster, if your running a custom Rom I would go back to stock to see if that fixes your problem. Another thing I would look at is if the Mic, is clogged up with lint/dust. It happen to my brother's daughter phone. Called me saying her phone don't work, can't here her talking!! Cuz I'm the tech guy of the family, told her to try and clean out her Mic. After that she called her dad now he can here her fine.

Thanks for your help. I am on stock rom. Already faxtory reset. And tried to clean the mic hole. I'm out of ideas and don't want to take this phone apart. I use the bluetooth but it's driving me crazy.

Isn't your phone still under manufacturer warranty? Why would you pay or do this yourself?

Why would you pay for a Samsung defect

I forgot to mention I bought this phone used and have no paperwork . So I cant do warranty I dont think.
I bought it from cl and it worked fine for a few days . Before you say I got ripped off I only paid 100 cash + a galaxy s1. So even with the 25 $ mic still came out clean . Phoneis mint except non working mic .

I work for a cell phone retailer as a repair technician and warranty repair is free lol. I can see any manufacturer charging for shipping though, unless you complain enough. The warranty follows the device not the phone number
Well after over a month I finally got my note 2 back. .. They sent it back to me broken so I sent it back and finally got it yesterday. They replaced the pba which is the mother board ... It works great and glad to be back

Sorry to revive this thread, but I'm having the same issue. Completely stock, mic works with speakerphone and obviously bluetooth, but not on normal calls.
Thoughts?
Hi guys since yesterday afternoon for some reason my headphones or even my headset keeps disconnecting automatically. If I insert them they will work for a few seconds and then itll stop. If I place it in a certain position it stays connected but if it moves just the slightest it cut off again.
I looked at the connections inside the jack port and it seems fine.
When the problem started I was on stock .211 firmware rooted locked bootloader. I then updated to .96 firmware hoping it would.fix the problem. But it didnt.

It is phisycal problem, conector inside is damaged.
I got the same problem, and that why i will sell this and buy some newer phone.
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
I dont understand how that could happen because this was a replacement phone about two months ago as my other one was damaged. And there has been no physical damage to the phone.

Don't know mate, i listen to music a lot with headset and On speaker.
My jack input have been damaged somehow, external speakers, headset, any kind of external speakers conected to my Sxs must be holded tight or it gets disconected.
Sorry mate, faulty unit like my. :-/

Hello
My Gnex started to act weird. It shows that it is charging but it is not connected to anything. If I connect it to a charger it takes about 20-30sec to start charging.
Could it be a faulty battery?
Please help.
Thanks
Probably no . Just restart your phone twice and try to clear the cache .Then it would be normal...

Yes. It is the port. Damn it. I cleaned it and it worked for 5 min. Now it acting up again.
The part is on its way. I think I got a good deal for 10$ with shipping included. I managed to repair the actual mini usb port by pushing on the two top metal clips and it seams that it is working. But better be safe and replace it with new part.
So I sent my nexus to Asus to "fix" the well known speaker static issue. Got it back, different rear casing which is damaged and different CSSN in the about section in settings. Speaker issue still persists, no surprise there. Asus explained the CSSN change is because the main board was replaced, would that story hold up in court?

It's possible, and of course even odds of their switcheroo. Have you contacted them about another repair? I know at this point you'd rather not, but...
Yes it's gone back for another repair after many phone calls and emails and waiting. Had my fill with their "support". What's more frustrating is that a software update has helped/cured the issue.
