I`m trying to root my girlfriend`s HTC Desire HD cause she's having a big freeze issue with the Stock Rom. So I have tried with the Advanced Ace hack Tools but it says that my device need a downgrade and when I hit yes it I get a 404 errors when the soft try to download a file. So i`m looking for a fix or an alternative to root the phone (and eventually install ClockworkMod Recovery and CyanogenMod 10.1).
This fail : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003 : Because the link to create a GoldCard is dead
this fail : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424023 : Because I cant copy to /sdcard/
AAHK is retired and unsupported. The other things you linked to are also out of date. Use the Easy Ace Root Tool.

i wanted to know how i can root my htc wildfire!! i tried using unrevoked but that did not work it kept on failing!! i done a little research on the internet some forums say that i have to downgrade my wildfire to 2.1 in order for me to root it !!!
does anyone have and easier way of rooting the HTC wildfire instead of the long process!!!!!
also is their a new version of unrevoked that can root htc wildfire with the version 2.2.1!!!!! can you post the link please if there is 1!!!!
Much help appreciated!!!!
Thank you in advance!!!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
The process to root 2.2.1 is far longer than downgrading to 2.1 to rooting
- S-OFF using AlphaRev X
- Push a Custom Recovery
- Push Superuser Binary
The process is outlined in the link I have pasted. There is NO SHORTER WAY, So dont bother asking, and, this method will void your warranty.
And can you, for God's sake, not use so many exclamation marks? It annoys the hell out of someone reading it.
Guide: How to S-Off, Root and install CWM. On a Wildfire running Froyo 2.2.1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have just successfully s-offed, rooted and installed CWM on my mates Wildfire and thought it'd be a good idea to outline how I did it.
Apharev X is still in a beta version and I take no responsibility for any damage caused, but it definitely worked for me.
Step1:
Download Apharev X. Follow the instructions exactly. Please note: Presently this only works for Hboot versions 1.01.0001 and 1.01.0002.
To find out what Hboot version your phone has do the following.
Power off the phone.
Hold down the volume down key and at the same time press the power button. This will boot you into your Hboot menu.
Once you are s-off, continue to step 2.
Step2:
Download the latest version of Gingerbreak(v1.20.apk)
Follow the installation instructions in the above post exactly.
Once done, you should be rooted, you can check this by going into your app drawer and seeing if you have the super user app. If you have, then gongrats, your phone is rooted.
Step3:
Installing ClockworkMod so you can make nand backups, flash roms etc etc.
Download and install the Root Toolbox app from the market.
Download the ClockworkMod recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-buzz.img file. Extract the file and make sure you rename it to recovery.img, then place it on the root of your SD card.
Open Root Toolbox and click the advanced button followed by Erase Recovery, once it's done click the Flash Recovery button.
This should have flashed the CWM recovery to your phone. You should now be able to access recovery to install roms, make nand backups etc etc.
Once you're all done, you can uninstall Gingerbreak.
A list of Wildfire roms is available in this thread over at XDA Developers.
Work Great
You made my day, it really works exactly as u describe it.
S-offed, rooted and nand-backedup my Wildfire (or like thai-peaple say: wifi, coz can't a speak it)
hboot:1.01.0001
One needs to download busybox installer to install busybox to make Root Toolbox work, but great guide.
Now i can flash CyanogenMod-7.1

Hello I have an HTC Desire (Bravo), it was s-off and rooted. I had installed the rom MIUI Pt, but while doing a backup with rom manager had an error and when was recovering the machine crashed, I follow the tutorials and got access to the SD Card.
Through the RUU PB99.img got converted to reinstall the rom.
I installed the 2.3.3 GingerBread because I had read in a forum that was the best (in terms of warranty) but put the phone "S_ON and Unrooted".I don’t noticed that what I had an usb brick. I'm already follow the various tutorials with various exploits to gain temporary root and nothing.
I further made a PB99.img the RUU Froyo 2.2, but gives me an error does not leave installation of rom.
Is there solution for this?

Hey, first thingy can u boot into recovery with an exclamation mark on it? If you can press vol up and power after entering recovery, then hit apply update.zip. Generate an update.zip first (this exact name) of 4ext recovery.img. It has an unbrick function(never tried though)
Request a dev to create the flasheable zip file for you. If you can't boot take to service as in the previous post.

bootloader info
*** locked (oww)***bravo put4 ship s-on
hboot-1-03.0003
microp-0514
touch-panal-synw0101
radio-4.08.00.09

firmware version 2.1-update1
You need to downgrade hboot first to make it s-off. Google a little bit.

thanks guys will have another go tomorrow tried downgrading bootloader but failed :good:
Go here: http://revolutionary.io/ and try to unlock your phone using Revolutionary. Before you start this operation you must turn on USB Debugging, then run Revolutionary. It will read your phone key, which you should enter on http://revolutionary.io/, read beta-key and enter this key on revolutionary. Next step is that Revolutionary will ask you, to download recovery to your phone. Accept ("Y" and press ENTER) and that's all :good:
If you would like to root your HTC then download this file http://www.sendspace.com/file/pniar9 to your SD card, go to recovery and choose install zip from sd card using trackpad and choose downloaded file Good luck

Not working with 1.03 hboot, don't give false instructions.
I don't know if you tried this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1564644
Trying to download downgrade package will alert antivirus software on your PC, don't worry it's just an exploit used to hack your bootloader.
I have just bought 2 HTC Desire phones 2nd hand for my wife and myself. One was already rooted, with su access and Nikez-Lente-1.0.1b2-bravo rom running very stably. The other was unlocked but branded and with a stock sense rom (not sure if if was gingerbread or ics).
So I immediately set about "rooting" the stock phone. I used Revolutionary, got s-off and installed sandvold Beta_0.18.2.1. I then installed Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed and expected to get root/su access on the phone. It was only when I tried using a2sd tool that I found I didn't have root/su access. Since then I've put the phone back to RUU and tried using unrevoked to root, but it fails everytime with a message "do you have a newer firmware?" or something like that.
I've put 4EXTRecoveryUpdater touch recovery on, installed Nikez-Lente-1.0.1b2-bravo again, installed su again, still no access. I've tried Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed, still no joy. Nothing seems to be able to put this phone into su/root mode.
And the strange thing is, both phones are on hboot 6.93.1002. So why can I not root the other phone?
I've searched the net for 2 days now and can find nothing to help. All the guides for unrevoked make it look like the simplest thing in the world to do.
What do I need to do?
Check my sig, desire all things root, s-off using revolutionary. Theres a superuser zip file there, try flash that in recovery. Where did u get that superuser zip file?

Yh i think with that site u have to download and flash the su binary aswell as the superuser.zip
download & flash this in recovery and u should be rooted
http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip
This is the SU file from the guide in my sig

Thanks for that
Tried that one, still getting "permission denied" in terminal.
Just a thought - should I downgrade the bootloader to an unrevoked compliant one?
