[Q] S_ON and Unrooted 2.3.3 GB - Desire General

Hello I have an HTC Desire (Bravo), it was s-off and rooted. I had installed the rom MIUI Pt, but while doing a backup with rom manager had an error and when was recovering the machine crashed, I follow the tutorials and got access to the SD Card.
Through the RUU PB99.img got converted to reinstall the rom.
I installed the 2.3.3 GingerBread because I had read in a forum that was the best (in terms of warranty) but put the phone "S_ON and Unrooted".I don’t noticed that what I had an usb brick. I'm already follow the various tutorials with various exploits to gain temporary root and nothing.
I further made a PB99.img the RUU Froyo 2.2, but gives me an error does not leave installation of rom.
Is there solution for this?

Hey, first thingy can u boot into recovery with an exclamation mark on it? If you can press vol up and power after entering recovery, then hit apply update.zip. Generate an update.zip first (this exact name) of 4ext recovery.img. It has an unbrick function(never tried though)
Request a dev to create the flasheable zip file for you. If you can't boot take to service as in the previous post.

Or download the correct pb99.img (WWE)

Does your PC recognize the phone in bootloader mode?

It's all covered in bortak's guide. Have a look there.

[Q] Flashing back to a stock RUU ROM

OK, sorry for the n00b question, I've only been on Android a couple of days. So, I managed to root my device with unrevoked, and i have the Clokwork recovery on there. I even managed to install a custom ROM which I absolutely love. What I hate is the Telus screen that comes up in the very beginning when you power the phone on. From what I've read, the only way to get rid of that is to flash a stock ROM again. So I downloaded the latest one available (I think it just got posted an hour or two ago), and when i try to install it, everything is fine until the RUU wants to boot into Bootloader. At this point my phone does nothing, and the RUU program enters recovery.
Do I have to reroot my phone somehow? Or maybe clear off the current ROM first? What am I doing wrong? Again, my appologizes for the extreme n00bness.
To return to RUU, u musr copy the rom from a gold card
from my Desire + XDA App
You must use gold card to do that..
from my Desire + XDA App
If it isn't barnded, i know that it is not necesary a gold card. Am i right?
If device isn't branded just download and copy to root of sdcard PB99IMG stock rom image. You can find recovery guides, try search forum.
After you have stock rom, try again...

[Q] Htc desire not booting

I recently attempted to root my desire with unrevoked. It seemed to go well and i attempted to flash a custom rom. I made a nandroid back up too. However, now the device is stuck in boot loop and i can't flash another rom or restore from nandroid backup. I've tried pushing roms from fastboot, running the telstra RUU and nothi g has worked. The closest i have got to it working is on the bootloader, it automatically detects that i have Pb99DIAG.zip and tries to install that but says it cannot verify signature.
I have a pvt4 desire with hboot version 0.93.0001 if that is any help
I apologise if this has been posted before but i have been tring to get this fixed for ages Any help will be appreciated.
Why can't you flash another rom?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
I've tried heaps of roms and none of them seem to install. They all say the rom cannot be found or something.
What recovery do you use?
Also does the sd card mount if you try that in recovery? What does it say when you try to connect it to usb?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Did u integrate amonra-recovery in unrevoked before starting to root with it? Imo the standardrecovery in unrevoked, clockworkmod, does not work with pvt4- desires.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I used amonra. When i try to mount the ext sdit just comes up with an error saying i cant....
Toggle signatur verify (amonra-recovery>other>toggle signatur vetify) and then try to flash again.

So you S-OFFed and then ran Telstra RUU ?
That is supposed to bring your phone to stock. Now you are S-ON or OFF ?
My phone is s-on. When i rooted it with unrevoked it didn't turn s-off. I tried that signature verify thing and it still won't work :S

Rooting and S-OFF-ing are two completely different things. You got confused.
You have to do them both in order to install certain ROMs.
Please check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
Which ROM do you wish to install ?
i want tog back to the telstra 2.2 rom. I have rooted my phone, but i can't do the s-off thing aith alpharev cause it won't turn on properly

Reverting my Desire HD back to stock...

Been googling and searching XDA for a while now and I can't find a clear guide on how to do this halp!
I just want the latest stock ROM from HTC on it, was an upgrade from Virgin and wasn't branded before I rooted.
I tried flashing one of the WWE RRU via Clockwork but it just aborts after unpacking.
Also I flashed a new radio when I rooted would that be the problem?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
try this downloading the RUU .exe from here - LINK (credit goes to andy!)
The latest would be the GingerBread version
The RUUs are official releases from HTC so why would they work via CWM? Just run the ruu...exe on your computer with the phone connected via usb. And come on, you really think you're the forst one wondering how to get back to stock??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12931738&postcount=2
Also checking the threads you used to get a custom rom might help, e.g.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537
Please stop filling this forum with multiple threads of the same subject.
I would recommend the .exe method as well, simple, straightforward and really quick! Would advise you to get ROM manager too to backup your rom if anything goes wrong

[Q] Red exclamation mark when trying flash rom

Hi!
I just rooted my HTC Desire Z which was Android 2.3.3 through downgrading it to Android 2.2 and the running Visionary+.
After that I installed ClockworkMod and flashed ClockworkMod Recovery.
When I use Reboot into Recovery in ClockworkMod I get a red exclamation mark only also when I go to recovery from bootloader manually.
Someone said my phone is restoring the stock recovery after every reboot due to the way its rooted.
Alternate bootloader in ClockworkMod is grayed out so I cant install that either.
Any ideas what to do?
Did you follow this method?

Correct. It is the most recommended (actually I think the only) method currently.

First if you read what biohazrd51 linked you to then you would now understand that Visionary + can and usually does brick your phone or make it impossible to use. The root method that biohazrd 51 linked was what you NEEDED to do rather than use the Visionary +. Chances are good you now have a very expensive door stop. I am NOT a programmer by any stretch, I hope you can recover, if so please let us know so that others may read and it help them. Best of luck to you.

Ok I factory reset my phone and now root is gone. Its still Android 2.2 which is good since in the first link you gave me one needs to downgrade if having 2.3.
In those rooting instructions one is asked to load the appropriate Hboot file:
Download the appropriate HBOOT for your phone:
T-Mobile G2: vision.hboot-0.76.2000.zip (md5sum 7669AE12DC2FAA10AE555A164980EFD0)
HTC Desire Z: vision.hboot-0.84.2000.zip (md5sum 2CE1BDD5E4C1119CCFCECB938710D742)
HTC Desire HD: ace_glacier.hboot-0.85.2007.zip (md5sum df4fd77f44993eb05a4732210d2eddc6)
How do i find out if I have a T-Mobile G2 or a Desire Z since to my knowledge both look same. I live in Finland by the way.
...if you bought your device in finnland you propably got a desire z. anyway if you flash the g2 hboot on a dz or the other way around you wouldn´t harm your phone...
only the desire hd hboot is a no go.
if you want to be sure look into your bootloader and google your hboot number
best thing to do is use the desire z hboot, because then you can flash sense 3+ roms (even if you have a g2)
EDIT: before you start, does your bootloader show s-off?
That red exclamation mark is the stock recovery. If it happens when you have sorted S-OFF (do not use Visionary !), just try flashing ClockworkMod recovery again.
Sent from my Desire Z running CM7.
At the top, just under the speaker grill of the phone, does it say htc or t-mobile?
If its htc ==> Desire Z
T-mobile ==> G2
-Nipqer
The other method root worked and i could install ClockworkMod properly and flash to CyanogenMod rom.
Worked! Thx for you help guys!

Not "usually", but there were a decent amount of soft bricks when Visionary was being used by more people. Enough for most folks on here to conclude that its not as safe as the Wiki method, so not worth it.

you do NOT need unrevoked. Forget it, delete it.
Flash recovery (look at my guide, or download 4EXT recovery updater from market).
Backup ROM
FULL wipe (delete every partition apart from sd-card)
flash a rom you want.
Easy.

Oxygen, with oxygen r2 hboot.
Or
Any D2EXT ROM (uses EXTn partition on your sd-card, shouldn't be larger than 1024mb)
