Hey xda I have a problem so here it goes:
My HOX fell into a cup full of water - clean water. At first he was still on but touchscreen didn't work so I turned it off and removed back housing away and wiped everything and than I putted it in a ball of rice for a night but when I woke up my HOX doesn't even react to a power button. What can I do please, I am desperate
When you picked your phone apart, are you sure you didn't break the connection of the power button? and other cables?
Connect it to your PC and see whether you get any response on PC or phone!!
If not, let it dry for a day or so and keep it on wall charger for 6-10 hours and then try to boot up!
I didn't get any signal on the computer and on the phone. I will try with the wall charger. And I am not sure did I break something but I think not.
could be the power cable. you can get them from ebay for around £10. tried it once and it fixed the problem. :good:
No I don't think it is the cable that connects power button because when I connect it to charger my light doesn't go on and computer doesn't give any signal that it has been connected.

Hey guys,
I've had my GN for about a week now with absolutely no problems until tonight. I went to bed with my phone plugged up into the charger thru the wall and when I woke up it was still at 73%
Tried unplugging and plugging back it but the phone won't even detect that the charger is even plugged in. So I tried plugging it up to my computer and it still won't detect anything. The charger is still in perfect condition and I tried plugging into the car charger, but it will slowly charge.
you know when you plug in your usb cord to a computer or charger....that little icon on the top left pops up with the usb icon on the top left
well..i tried plugging in my phone to charge thru the outlet but it won't detect it so i took it out and tried to plug it thru the computer..but my cpu won't detect anything either
also
You know how when you plug it up to your computer and you hear that chime indicating that your has recognized it as a media dive. Well, my computer won't even pick it up / recognize it anymore
I've rooted this phone, but I've done nothing else with the phone. I rooted it last week, but did't have problems until last nite. It was charging just fine when I went to bed, but woke up and it just stopped charging
Just an obvious question so forgive me if you've already tried this. Have you done a battery pull to fully reset things and see if that helps? If it's a h/w problem it won't have any impact and probably means an exchange is in order.

Yeah I'm doing that right now. I completely took out the battery and put it back it back in with no luck
I've been using the extended battery. SO i took that one out and replaced it with the stock battery and still no luck
What if I already rooted teh phone?
This is my first smartphone ................. I'm so freakin nervous right now
Did you try different cables?

Don't have another one; Like I said, this is my first smartphone
Weird; I currently have the phone plugged into my computer....it seems to charge just fine ONLY if I have it faced DOWN
Would that mean it is a cable issue?
try pushing the cable upwards to see if it makes contact...i had a problem with my usb cable and had to change it.

Looks like it. Better than the alternative.

you can always unroot the phone if you need to send it in. I would slightly jiggle the cable when charging, maybe its a loose charge port on the device itself.
Have you had a good look inside the phone's USB plug and the USB cable plug? There might be something stuck up inside one of them. If so, you can clean it up with 99% alcohol, or contact cleaner by dabbing some on a soft toothbrush and scrubbing it out. Phone off, battery out of course.

This phone is plastic! I wouldn't put 99% alcohol anywhere near it!

You press the tip bristles up inside the usb connector and flick downward, avoiding other areas. And the brush doesn't need to be drenched. Alcohol won't phase it unless you spill it all over the device, the alcohol quickly evaporates...considering alcohol comes in a plastic bottle.
i had this problem with my stock phone.. turned off phone and it would charge... i let it go to 100 and did battery pull and worked fine ever since

man, spoke to soon..... been a while since it happend , but now its happening again...
charging while phone is off seems to do the trick....
what is also wierd is that i plugged it in while the phone was off for about 5 mins and turned on the phone.... it went from 12% battery to 45%
I've just been charging it faced down. Where is the cheapest place I can buy a whole new charger?
Hi!
A few days ago, I was on a three-day biking trip where my Galaxy Nexus was in a back pocket, trapped between a sweaty back and a very heavy backpack.
I had it turned off for most of the trip, and never charged it once on the trip.
When I got back, I tried to turn the phone back on, but nothing happened. I thought that it must be the battery sucked out, so I tried charging it, but no response (it didn't even show the charging symbol). Then I kept it plugged in for an hour or two, and it charged again! I thought everything was all right, but it wasn't.
My problem is that it doesn't charge when the phone is turned on, and only partially charges when it's off. When I plug in the charger and it's off, it shows the lightning icon, then the charging animation for a few seconds, but then it's starting again at the lightning icon, then a few seconds animation, repetitively for ever.
I think something's wrong with the phone's micro-USB power plug, as I've tried two batteries (one of them I didn't bring on the trip) and it does the same thing with both.
Is there any way I can try to fix it myself, or will I have to send it in for reparation (and will that work), or do I have to look for a new phone?
Thank you!
Have you tried charging with a different cable directly from USB on computer, or from a car charger (to eliminate your wall charger and cable)? I'd try that before assuming there is a problem with the phone itself.
Did you find any solution for the problem ?
Hi,
Were you able to find the solution for the problem ? I am kind of facing the same problem :crying::crying::crying: . The lightning screen shows up and then charging screen shows up for 2 cycles and then it goes back to lightning screen .
Regards,
Tas

A bit late, but I always put my phone in a zip lock bag while biking. Thought if it after seeing condensation on the screen after a few hours on the bike. You can still interact with the touch screen without removing. Best of luck getting things up and running.

Are you sure the micro usb is engaging the port properly to charge?
I've dropped and yanked mine around enough that the charging port doesn't always work unless it's a nice tight cable connection.
Try using the factory charger instead of a usb port if you haven't, and let it sit plugged in overnight if you can. Maybe even weight down the cord right by the phone, either right side up or flipped over whichever engages the charging light (if either)
Just thoughts.
The volume up plus power takes at least ten seconds to kick in the power off as well
My 4yo son helpfully dropped my phone down the toilet after he decided to borrow it to watch youtube. it blanked out and was totally dead. i left it in rice for 5 days (pre ordered the Mate 20 Pro)
Amazingly when i plug it into a charger it will now power on!!! but it wont charge and soon as i disconnect the power cable it dies, also the captive buttons at the bottom and microphone don't work... so i ordered new captive buttons, new charging port and the circuit board that contains the microphone etc that was at the bottom of the phone and will try to take the screen off without breaking it and fit them tonight... does anyone know will this fix the charging issue? do i need to replace the battery? or anything else? or am i wasting my money trying to fix my beloved OP3?
all advice gratefully received.
Kind Regards
Mark

So I have now replaced the charging port and soft keys and it still won't charge, I'm guessing that means something in the main board is dead. So sadly I guess I now have to give up.

When you encounter water damage, shut off the phone dry it as much as you can, use a hair dryer and cloth.
And then dump the phone into uncooked rice for a couple of days. That will suck all the moisture out.
Trying to start the device or trying to charge it will send current down the board and the elements, if any of them are covered by water, they're bound to short-circuit and die.
Remember this with any electronic device henceforth.
Sorry about your loss.
