I think I might've messed up my Nexus... [UPDATE NEED HELP PICKING BETWEEN OPTIONS]

I was installing a full body shield on my phone today ( the kind where you have to wet the phone) and I think maybe I got some water into the phone, probably the charging port.
I left the battery out of the device for about an hour and put it back in and every thing was good. But then I connected it to the comp via usb and the comp recognized it, then didnt recognize it, endless cycle. I thought woah. Took out the battery, blow dried the charging port, left the battery out for a while. I connected again back to the computer and it seems fine.
Now I try to charge it.. weird stuff happening. I connect and let it charge for a while its fine.. then I disconnect and it still thinks its charging. After playing with the phone for a bit in battery settings it realizes its not charging fine. After a while I connect it to the charger, shows not charging, after a while shows charging via USB. Now again its not reconizing the charger.
I'm scared as **** and just took out the battery.. what do I do?

Have you tried the rice trick?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk
some people say put battery in rice for 48 hrs to take away all water. Plus there is like a small litmus paper on battery, it usually is pink w stripes and changes color when it comes in contact w water. If the color hasnt changed you can still get the phone exchanged, but try the rice trick.
this phone doesnt have the liquid stickers.
here's the thing, it was such small amounts of water being used I don;t think rice would work. Like rice just waits for the water to come out and dries it so the phone is fine before you use it.
I'm pretty sure the water is already out, I'm stuck with a problem.
Can I Flash to stock, lock the bootloader and send for warranty.. or will they know there was water involved?
The (insert charger) popup keeps coming up as well. Repeatedly
Odds are, you ruined it the minute you put the battery back in and turned it on. You can try taking the battery out and putting it in rice, but odds are that the damage has already been done.
I'm pretty sure that all of the instructions for the wet application protectors tell you to leave the battery out for at least 12 hrs, preferably a full day, before putting it back in and turning it on, and that is pretty much the reason why. If water gets anywhere it's not supposed to be, it can cause damage to the components. Live and learn I guess.

This phone has 4 liquid stickers. I just found all of them. They all work.
One ON the battery, one above the battery by the gold power contacts and two under the plastic cover.

I just updated my post above because I realized it could be helpful ^
Good luck to you as well!
...and now it's being laggy. I'm guessing this is due to the device always seeing anf not seeing a usb input.
I;m going to replace the charging jack tmrw from a technician I know.. hopefully that would fix the problem.
I gave it to one of my tech's. He's gonna open it up and try to clean any water damage and see if the stickers are good.
I have 3 ways to proceed:
Send it to my carrier, they'll give me a new/refurb phone. Cons: 35$ fee, may get a refurb phone, need to unroot phone, if water damage found, im stuck with a bill for a new phone.
Send it to Samsung, they'll repair it. Cons: I'll have no phone for a while it takes them a week or two to repair it. Need to unroot. If water damage found, they'll send it back unrepaired.
Get my tech to repair it by changing the chargin jack flex cable. Cons: Gotta pay him a fee probably $50-60. If something else goes wrong with the water damage later on, I'm screwed.
Not sure what to do right now.

[Q] Water damage

Hey xda I have a problem so here it goes:
My HOX fell into a cup full of water - clean water. At first he was still on but touchscreen didn't work so I turned it off and removed back housing away and wiped everything and than I putted it in a ball of rice for a night but when I woke up my HOX doesn't even react to a power button. What can I do please, I am desperate
When you picked your phone apart, are you sure you didn't break the connection of the power button? and other cables?
Connect it to your PC and see whether you get any response on PC or phone!!
If not, let it dry for a day or so and keep it on wall charger for 6-10 hours and then try to boot up!
I didn't get any signal on the computer and on the phone. I will try with the wall charger. And I am not sure did I break something but I think not.
could be the power cable. you can get them from ebay for around £10. tried it once and it fixed the problem. :good:
No I don't think it is the cable that connects power button because when I connect it to charger my light doesn't go on and computer doesn't give any signal that it has been connected.

Xperia play doesnt work

I have a R800x Xperia play and it doesnt work no more.
Before whenever the battery would die out all the way to 0% and turn off automatically, it would take like 5 minutes of charging before it can reboot.(I would never let it go to zero but i let people use it and everytime they let it drain all the way and it bugs the sh*t! out of me, that cant even ask me for a charger!!)
anyways this last time it took over an hour of charging (with led indicator on) to be able to boot up. and before that i had left the charger on overnight and the led never turned on and i wasnt able to turn it on. And when it did start working it itwas out of nowhere after plugging it in multiple times.
This last time it was on yellow battery and i fell asleep using it so when i woke up it was drained all the way. (also i found it on the ground so it fell from my bed, but the screen is not cracked so idk if this has anything to do with the problem). I put the phone to charge and after like an hour nothing happened. 3, 4, 5 hours and same thing. i left it all night and still nothing no led no vibration! i bought a new battery thinking i might have messed up the old one letting it drain all the way (the extended battery for a r800i, dont know if that will affect it) and put it in, and nothing still. tried charging and still no led light.
i think that mayb the miniusb port is messed up and both my batteries are drained all the way! even the new one because this is an old device and they probably manufactured the battery a long time ago.
i have taken the phone apart and see nothing wrong, except for the flex cable looks a little damaged, i will upload a pic asap
So any suggestions on how to fix it myself?
thank you for any help!

You can find on youtube videos of how to dissamble the Xplay.
Anyway if it's the miniusb port broken, why doesn't the phone boot up ?

the battery was completely drained. n ithink the xperia play is one of those devices where it has to be ON to charge. now it charges through the port. i have let it die again, and it wont charge no more through the port. if i use the battery seat charger and as long as it has a lil bit of charge, it'll charge thru the port. but connecting the xperia with the pc, the xperia isnt recognized. so the usb port IS messed up, it'll charge but wont sync

[Q] Galaxy Nexus charging issues...

A while back, after sweating profusely into my phone during a workout session, my gnex started behaving badly when I wanted to charge it. Needless to say I've got a battery app installed that is able to detect the plugin state (whether the phone is on battery, whether the charger is plugged in or whether it's just a usb connection such as a computer) and actual % voltage the thing has in the status bar. The app itself is: Battery by MacroPinch.
Well I figured the usb port was probably going so I got a new one of those (i.e. flex cable microusb etc.) for my sch-i515. I also decided to get a new battery just in case... so I replaced the battery (it's an oem samsung one) and fwiw, the thing stabilized its behavior! I've since swapped them back and forth with no apparent issues. However, I took my phone out with me on a run and it started acting flakey again. I've (in the past) had to clean out the port with a toothpick, I've had to on occasion bend the flap in there, do battery pulls (which believe it or not worked for a while), and so on. This time however was different. The phone wouldn't wake when I plugged in or unplugged the charger... and in no way shape or form would the charge indicator come on (you know, lightning bolt in the batter icon etc.) and to make matters even worse this time, my laptop simply didn't recognize the phone was plugged in. So I bit the bullet and and did the surgery and replaced the usb board and mic.
It could not have gone more smoothly, unfortunately (as might have guessed) all is not well... so now:
if the screen is dark -
the phone will wake when the charger is plugged in
the phone will wake when the charger gets unplugged
Using a moto droid cable (from my og droid)
the phone/computer realize they are plugged in together and Wug's NRT works and so on.
BUT the battery STILL won't charge.
I guess the phone is a couple of years old and it doesn't really owe me anything (I guess) but I'd really like this thing working better until I can get a new one. Does anybody out there have any ideas on what I might have missed? The phone works as before, exactly fine except it won't chare so I'm pretty sure I managed to get all the connectors back together properly... I suppose the usb port I replaced the original with might be defective but....
Any help is greatly appreciated...
Oh I'm rooted but stock, android 4.2.2
No advice at all??
I WOULD have said bad usb port, MAYBE try another? They are cheap enough, mine has been broken forever and I do not want to take device apart to change it because crack in my screen I'm worried will get worse if I take device apart.
so since its impossible for me to charge battery in device, I'm NOT worried about THAT tho, BECAUSE a LONG while back I had purchased 2 extra OEM batteries, PLUS a OEM samsung EXTERNAL CHARGER/stand which ALSO came with a battery. so I NOW have 4 total batteries, and I charge them up in the external charger, then just swap them out as needed.
which honestly is GREAT, cuz if I'm going out all day, I can just bring my extra fully charged batteries with me, and not have to worry about battery drain from heavy use cuz I have 3 other fully charged ones WITH me.
that's really all I can say, if you would like help finding the exact external charger that comes with a battery as well let me know, I had bought mine on amazon couple YEARS ago for only like 25-30$ BRAND NEW, I'm guessing TODAY that price would be like ten bucks
Thanks... that may be the way to go but I use this thing for my gps... but the thing doesnt get power when plugged in at all it seems (I plug it in, pull the battery and it does not stay on) so far I've been using my wife's gnex to charge my main and spare... but like I said the thing is, the phone doesn't even stay on when plugged in and I pull the battery (hers does so I'm thinking that there may be something deeper in that's failed here). I cracked the thing back open last weekend to make sure all the connectors were engaged, but I did not find any issues with them past that point.
Does anyone know if there is a hidden connecter somewhere in there that i could possibly have accidentally unhooked that prevents input power from reaching the guts of this thing?
OK it's getting crazier all the time...
Since my gnex was "working" except for charging (also, the phone would not stay powered on with the usb plugged in and the battery removed) I decided to go for a long run yesterday... I take the phone with me for music, tracking and general "safety". About half-way through my run, I look at the window in the neoprene armband I'm using and it looks like a sauna... the bluetooth cuts out on me... so I pull the phone out and with a minimum of fiddling I get the music back on... regarding the charging issue ... I was using my wife's gnex to charge my two oem batteries.
Well after this run, I try and use voice to text in a text message after I got home... well guess what... the phone records NOTHING. It's like I'm not talking. So I try a few phone calls... the display shows the call in progress, but I hear nothing! So I use my land-line to call the phone... NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING.
I had previously replaced the usb port, so I took out the tools and disassembled the phone. there was some moisture in there... anyway I dry it out as best I can and reassemble. Now I plug in the headphones, and guess what... I make calls... i.e. the damn phone works as a phone. I pull the jack out and nothing. I turn on speaker mode ... I can hear the phone ringing when I place a call... turn off speaker nothing. Bluetooth works with the phone fine, and the volume control for multimedia makes no sound when I toggle it...
Fast forward to today. I disassemble it again thinking I might have not reconnected one of the straps... I disconnect the volume rocker connector and the usb port connecter plus I remove and re install the antenna housing.
NOW the phone CHARGES but no lightning bolt indicator in the battery... but the battery level is CLEARLY increasing! Also when I plug into a laptop, the usb debugging symbol comes on (since I have it enabled) but when I unplug it does NOT go away... I unplug, disable usb debugging it goes away... reenable usb debugging and the symbol comes back without the phone plugged in until reboot.... but now the phone WORKS again as a phone!
so now the phone:
charges but without any visual indication (other than the % reporting of the battery widget I use)
phone recognized by my laptop (which wasnt' working either until I reset some of the connectors today), but unplugging doesn't make usb debugging indicator in status bar go away.
Phone speaker and mic now working without having to use bluetooth, plug-in headphones or speaker phone. (mic was not working with speakerphone turned)
This is just too messed up. My sweat does carry a lot of salt.... and Im wondering if I managed to shake something loose... I did also pry the usb tab up a bit as well...
Is there some way... some fluid I can dunk the phone into, which might clean the thing without destroying it?
My galaxy nexus after some drops not charging.
It can only work only when i have connected with my laptop, charger.
I think usb port is ok.
I must buy a charging port to make that work?

Z5P problems.

So I recently purchased a Z5P unlocked, with a contract in vodafone, regardless of that ive been having many problems with the Z5P. I love the phone and all its features. On to my problems and if anyone has an idea how to fix it please tell me!
1: my first problem is the water thing, if i take it in water its all fine, until water touches the jack, say if im in the rain, listening to music(which i have done to experience this problem) it will keep going into headphone mode, this isnt a huge problem, but if theres some work around to this id greatly appreciate it.
2: This is my biggest problem, the charging port just doesnt work properly! i connect it, it charges just fine, 100% in an hour or so, then it drains throughout the day i get home from college, from about 8-5/6 its down to about 50/45% i plug it in and no charge, or even worse half way through the day it'll pop up saying charger not charging battery, with nothing connected into the charger! its just died on me and will not charge at all, until i plugged it into my computer via fastboot and the lil blue light pops up and is now charging. Slowly, but is charging. any ideas as to why it isnt charging through wall charger? all official cables, and around 3 it was charging, in college fine. i get home and it doesnt charge.
other lil problems include the brightness thing, which i guess will be fixed in marshmallow? it keeps going into adaptive brightness even though i turn it off?
another problem is when i turn it off (Press the power button>Power off) it doesnt turn off, it forever restarts, red light, sony screen, black screen-repeat.
also another problem is the lag?! not in general, its all smooth but in snapchat the device starts lagging and then heats up? might be snapchat, i dunno. but the charging ones the big one!:crying::crying:
EDIT: i have done a full reset of my phone before it fully died on me, and this is the first time its ever fully died.
I don't know what country you're in but I'd return it for a new one. To many problems you got there...
Sent from my SGP311 using XDA Free mobile app
Can any body please help me Nd let me know how i can search messages in massaging app? using search option it only searching inside message content but i want to search by contact
I have the same problem as you, when i plug in the phone to the charge, nothing happend but, when i connected to my PC the phone appears to work fine until i restart it, after that, my pc wont reconice the phone either and i cant charge it until the battery is completely dead and of course, when i turn it off, the phone do the same as yours, white scren whit the sony logo after the red light and do the same thing over and over again, i tried hard reset twice but wont work, dont know what to do either............. did you connect your phone on a PC with windows XP in college???, because my problem start when i connecte to an old PC with Windows XP...
