Hi guys I have just flashed this ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705334) however it is not the renovatePLUS version, how do I flash with the PLUS version, need it since it has mods and tweaks which I will need, auto-inverted rotating screen is driving me nuts!
FYI: I downloaded the plus zip but I dont know what to do with it, do I just extract into my phone? Because that did not work.
Also, I saw this guy, username(csec) with this signature (Phone: Renovated Endeavoru, F4, XM-Kernel #296 (Most fantastic combo in my entire experience with HOX)). I want to use have those thing stated, already have Renovate(will flash PLUS once I know how), and there is F4, anyone knows what that is? and finally XM-Kernel #296, which I believe is this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136731), can anyone please confirm is that is a similar one that I can use? Sorry for asking so many question, I finally decided to go deeper with flashing kernels and stuff and I require some professional advice, so please help! Thank you!

It doesnt seem to state on that thread that I have to do it through recovery. But thanks anyway!
For kernels I have one more question. Can I just use the kernel as provided? Of course checking that it is meant for my device 1st. Because there seems to be this confusing thing called repacking...

I RUINED my device before with kernels i didn't know how to use them and obviously i bricked my device so please dont try anything unless u gain experience
Repacking is like making peanut and jam sandwich its like making the kernel work with ur rom if u are using renovate u dont need to repack for XM kernels

If there are no Ramdisc tweaks in the ROM, you don't need to repack the kernel... Mostly kernel repacking isn't needed for Sense roms... So you just have to flash the boot.img from the kernel's zip and then flash the modules from recovery...
AOSP/AOKP Roms need kernel repack each and every time before flashing!

Help once more!
Hi, so after researching a little bit more, I decided change my kernel to the XM kernel(original non-repacked), tried it for a few days, noticed that it response quite slowly compared to default kernel, things like slow display of lock screen upon power on, less smooth transition when. Could I have done it wrongly? Other than the slow response everything else seems fine, I noticed one of the features is S2W, I tried that on my buttons and it worked, however fast charge usb and usb mass storage isnt working, is there somewhere I can enable it or do you have an idea where I can find a guide for XM kernels that describes its features and functionality? Sorry for asking so many questions, thank you!
You have rather detailed instruction how to deal with fast charge and USB mass storage in XMister's thread (first one or two posts).
I suggest you install some of the kernel manageent applications:
- trickster MOD
- Set CPU
... There are many. Choose one that fits you (I am personally using Trickster).
There you will be able to play with your governors and scheduler, and thus achieve better performance or battery life. Or both. Check Q&A, there are few very educative threads about it.
You seem to be on a good way. Keep reading.

hey guys
i have just flashed the leedroid rom, and i want to flash the latest kernel since kernels optimize the performance and speed... the thing is that i dont know how to choose kernels, and which one fits my rom and phone, add to the consequences of installing kernels...
i hope anyof u could help, or link me to any thread...
thanks in advance
As far as I know, snq is the only one who has updated the kernel for sense roms. But try them out.
Thank u
I didn't find it in everything desire thread
I would propose some explanation abt the reason of changing vilolts and wut does kernels improve exactly

A kernel controls a lot of stuff and can be important. You can change stuff like CPU speed, performance increases. I don't know exactly what a kernel does.
Here's the link for snqs kernel. No idea why it isn't in the desire everything thread.

Hello!
I just received my wonderful HTC One V from Koodo, and I managed to unlock it's bootloader+ rooting it. From now on, I am completly lost.
My main objective is to overclock it for a better gaming experience. How can I overclock it? Do I need special kernels? Where can I take it? Are those kernels included in specific roms?
My second objective is to install Android 4.2 JB. So how do I install a rom? Can you recommend me a specific rom? Oh, and is it battery-hungry?
Feel free to post links, tutorials, instructions and any other useful tips.
Thank you very much everyone!

Yes you can use any kernel EXCEPT the stock , all custom kernel for one support overclocking , when u have such a kernel the next thing u have to do is use any app from play store to overclock it ..try CPU MASTER FREE..
The most stable and battery friendly ROM on 4.2 is shpongle ..you will find it in original development sections and its installed the same way as the other roms..nothing special just remember to flash the kernel specified in the post..just flash the rom via recovery after performing a full wipe..
Thank you soo much guys now I'm all set with RC9.5 FX+ Sense 5 Rom and TK Kernel ;D

If we are talking about Sense
There are 2 kernels: Titanium-KISS and Charm-KISS (which is pimped up Titanium-KISS)... for now Tk is the best, cause ChK is in developing process and few thing may causing problems (for unknow reson, when I've flashed new adreno drivers, ChK was lagging games, sometimes as much, that I was made to restart my phone by power button)
We have 4 ROMs: myONEv (light Sense, development has stopped due to the fact, that there's nothing more to do with this ROM to make it better ), mySense (full Sense, same thing as with myONEv), and two ROMS that are in development - HTC Droid and Ignorance. They are all ICS.
We are wainting as doga will make his Sense 5 JB ROM ready for daily use
If we are talking about non-Sense
We have Hellboy kernel... and that's the only well-workin non-Sense kernel
And we have one ROM that can be use without bigger problems - Shpongle
And that's all
Kernal or Rom??
My primary objective is to speed up my mobile performance,
Do i need to flash Rom , or any directly kernel can solve my problem , example - primo u (kiss) .
i'm noob in this , do tell the procedure and links how to flash it in easy steps

Ok so I've searched and read up on all these great kernals, but my brain is so boggled and confused on everything, I'm hoping 1 of u great devs can advise and or gimme your opinion on what's right for me considering what I'm looking for:
I'm running stock rooted rom 4.4.2 sense 6, twrp 2.7.1.1 verizon
Basically I'm just looking to stay as close to stock as possible while at the same time enabling wake gestures (double tap to wake) etc… I don't really mess with over/under volting at all. 1 more thing I'm looking for is the system to mount as r/w automatically on boot. (im pretty sure I read the kernel is what controls this) if anyone can guide me on which kernal is best for what I'm looking for, it would b much appreciated…
Kernels are all a matter of opinion and what works best for the end user. Try each one for a little while and find what works for you. They all should have system r/w access by default. The only one I think doesn't is the actual stock sense kernel which none of these roms use. I would suggest however that you upgrade your recovery to version 2.7.1.2 from here. http://mdmower.cmphys.com/twrp-m7vzw/

I was wondering about that recovery… how exactly do I upgrade it? I've never upgraded a custom recovery, I installed 2.7.1.1 with flashify… do I just do that again? N it'll just overwrite 2.7.1.1?

Also give the below kernel a try. It has some more bells and whistles for battery and performance optimization. I don't know if it specifically has gestures, but it does have dt2w s2w s2s in it. I get amazing battery life compared to stock kernel with absolutely no loss in performance. Post #214 that I linked has the 4.4.2 version of the kernel and is up to date with kernel.org version and security/stability fixes. (Just read the OP of the kernel threads to see if they upstreamed the kernel version patches, like that link for 4.4.2 is kernel version 3.4.99)

If you get bored... And want yet another to try, I did post one in the stock thread a while back, just search that thread for wake gestures.
I'll wind up giving both Kangaroo and Santods a try eventually… Definitely more confident now that I've flashed roms kernals boot splash screens, recovery's, etc…
custom ROMs for HTC one V (differences, bugs, info)
Hello,
I am new to this site, and new to this thing, but I am interested to update my HTC one V with some custom ROM (jellybean or higher) and I wanna know some info about which one is the most stable and popular one, with no bugs or trivial bugs.. It is frustrating because they are plenty of ROMs and kernels here.. and what is the difference between AOSP and AOKP version? somewhere I read that aokp is less stable but better... I actually want features included RAM and CPU clocking, because this is the coolest thing in these custom ROMs.. :cyclops:
- I have HTC one V (GSM) rooted and bootloader unlocked
- I have CWM recovery 6.0.3.3 installed
- I have official android v4.0.3
so which ROM you guys prefer to me and which kernel that goes along? and is my CWM version OK or I need other one?.. I really want to get more of this phone than I am getting now.. it's a really nice phone but it's a bit lazy when operating tasks, so it's not for impatient users
I am new to this, but I somehow succeeded to root my V, thanks for detailed instructions on this site, so thanks to you guys ..now I just have to update my ROM, and I will be more than happy
Get kitkat and you'll be happy
It's really fast, mostly bug free and gets security updates...
I use lollipop personally and I like material design to much to go back.

I am afraid I will kill my HOV as I am reading some reports of black sreen or won't boot... but the hell with it, I need to do it, because I have a cool ant camera which app only works with 4.1

You can't (you really can't) brick your phone by installing a recovery, rom and a kernel.
It's really easy. If your still using the stock rom (rooted or not), you first have to unlock your bootloader. This is important because with a locked bootloader you can't overwrite to parts of your storage.
Just search for some guides (like this one) and only do the unlocking of the bootloader, not the rooting.
After unlocking the bootloader, flash a custom recovery (this is the newest version of TWRP, a popular recovery).
Then you reboot into the recovery and install any custom rom you like. Then you reboot into the bootloader again and flash the kernel for this rom, because the recovery can't do this.
And now you're finished. Just reboot and you'll have your new system.
If you need help with something, just use some guides here in the forum, those things have been explained thousands of times
Oh, and don't forget doing a backup of your data before. It will be deleted when installing the rom.
By the way: "rooting" means gaining root access on your system by using some vulnerability in the system. Root access is a bit like the admin user on windows, it can do everything and has no limits. But rooting only affects your current rom and is only needed in the stock rom. Most custom roms already have root access enabled.
can with only TWRP flash CyanogenMod 11? I see in the post is written that need latest TWRP to flash this ROM..
but I have already CWM recovery 6.0.3.3 installed. So shall I delete it? What is the difference between TWRP and CWM?

TWRP has much more features and has touch support.
Yes, you need twrp, because it's much newer and has selinux support, which is required for installing.
Install this TWRP by rebooting into bootloader and flashing with: "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" (replace recovery.img with the image you want to flash.

I have used dedicated kernel in zip, it is ok without issue, pretty fast, running for a day now.
btw... I was just considering if I could push the clock of CPU a bit more.. is it possible or it's already done OCed with this kernel? ...is there some app for that maybe?

If you enable developer options you get a performance settings menu in the settings. There you see the kernel is overclocked to 1200 MHz by default, which is still ok on most devices. For my phone it's no problem to go up to 2 GHz, but 1200 MHz is enough for me.
all good, but MMS messages don't work, can't download them.
is this a bug in CM11?
