I have a Sprint GS3 and it has a bad ESN (Bought it that way) For use like a pocket computer. I was wondering what apps are allowed to be deleted that have to do with the phone etc parts of it that I will never use that are just there taking space and RAM. If someone has a list of these items it would be great. I already saw the "Apps safe to remove" Thread. But this is only stuff that has to do with actual Cell usage that is worthless on my phone now. Txt msging, Phone, Turn Cell Radio off. Stuff like that. Any help would be great!
I'm running Goodness ROM

I cannot figure out a way to manage currently running apps more efficiently then the program already installed on the phone under "manage apps"
Basically the phone freezes and randomly drops signal. It is also running extremely slow and laggings even during simple txt messaging.
Any ideas

You need to be more specific, because right now the only thing more vague would be to say 'i have a phone'. But, seriously, we need to know if it's rooted, if so what ROM, any hacks or mods, and even what phone it is. This wouldn't be the first time someone posted in the wrong section.

I can see your point... I am more familiar with the inner workings of automotive forums then this forum.
The phone is a t-mobile my touch 3g slide.
It is using the stock t-mobile program... I hate it, I dont know how to change it
It is not rooted, overclocked or modded in any way.

Ahh, ok. I know of a couple things that could cause the phone to be laggy. One is if you have a lot of text messages, you'll want to delete them. The second would be to clear your cache. Over time, apps that use data, such as the browser, will build up cache. To clear it you go to menu > settings > applications > manage applications > and you'll be brought to a list of your apps. Now just go through and start selecting apps and see if they have any cache and if so clear it. It will look something like the attached image. You'll also free up storage as well. The way you get to it may be a little different as it's been a while since I've messed with stock. Worst case scenario would be to do a factory reset, but I don't think that's necessary and should only be used as a last resort.
Also, I don't know about the random freezing, but the signal loss could be due to the SIM card coming loose or dying. The "locking" SIM card tray sometimes has a tendency to work it's way loose.
So, I can install it just fine from the play store, however when it goes to download the extra data it tells me it's not supported. I've gotten the same message on my HP touchpad, Galaxy Tab, and HTC Sensation. The method I was using was to just drop my data file into the correct folder, and start the game. Unfortunately that did not work this time around. Maybe I've forgotten something critical to the process?
**EDIT** Crap Probably should have thrown this in Q&A with a [Q] in the title! If a kind mod sees this, a little push over to Q&A would be great
MOD EDIT: Thy wish shall be granted.
I am currently using Android Revolution 22.4 (Jelly Bean 4.1.2).
At 1st when I newly flashed this rom, I found it no problem and it is stable.
But after few weeks of using it, problems coming out.
The problems are as follow:
1. When I start Candy Crush with internet connectivity, it close my Candy Crush after a few second when I go in level selection menu.
2. Few weeks after I discovered the problem no.1, it get worse, my Candy Crush automatically closed up without internet connectivity.
3. A couple days ago, I discovered another problem, when I open my message, it close up automatically as well.
A little remark here ( I never tested it with other apps; I only use Facebook, Candy Crush and SMS+CALLS )
Can anybody help me? =(

So i followed the one-clieck rooting guide on here and rooted my att galaxy s3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2042775
ever since that, the battery life is horrible. i unplug my phone at 7am and by 3 it's down to maybe 40%, by the time i get home from work, it's down to 15% maybe..
could it be the amount of email accounts / messages i get in a day.
are there better options for upgrading the phone to a new build ?
can i update the phone without losing what i already have on the phone? or when you flash a rom is it like resetting it back to defaults and i'll have to rebuild the apps and everything.
thanks

on a side note, i did install the SPB shell onto my machine and am thinking that all of the animations and crap that program does might be doing it to my phone as well....
Well i'm sure people are going to tell you to get betterbatterystats and go through a day and it should show you whats draining your battery
Betterbatterystats: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
If you titanium backup or carbon backup (both are in the play store) you can backup your app and app data so you won't lose anything if you decide to flash a new rom. A different rom might help with battery life.
Also get the Wake Lock Detector... Since you're saying it might cause by your email then try to check on the email push sync setting as I recall my device also suffer battery drain due to the push sync set to immediate. You can set it to check mail every 30 mins which I think is sufficient...

Rooting doesn't do anything to the battery life of your phone. did you install some other mods? I'm guessing your phone isn't going to sleep, download cpu spy and see if it ever goes into deep sleep.
did you make a nandroid backup? if your recovery is backing up in .dup format it creates thousands of files for the media scanner to scan. if using a custom recovery make sure it is set to .tar format.

hi all,
i have searched the topic i question, but can't find any satisfying answer. to anticipate situation if we lost our android phone, i.e SGN 2, what would you do to make the phone plainly useless for whoever find it ? i am comparing to iphone in this case (the other smart phone i ever own, sorry..). if i find your iphone, and you put simple 4 digit password, it would be very hard for me to bypass to get into the phone's system & data or to restore it. unless i would try 4^10 = 1,048,576 combination trial. no way i would go to the apple store to ask for help . on android, if it's rooted, i can go to recovery and restore to factory condition and i have a fresh device.
let's put aside the IMEI blocking feature imposed by carrier, as it's only effective for a specific region/country/carrier.
any feedback will be appreciated. thank you !
I use this.

Id recommend a program called androidlost. Much more functionality. I can snap pictures of a perpetrator using my phone, secretly record audio of them without their knowledge, enable gps ( even if they turned it off ) and track on a map, and is persistant even if they pop out the sim card and put in another. It notifies you of the new phone number too.
I use the gps all the time on my wifes phone (she gets lost easy ). Other features include remote file downloads, remote wipes, changing or setting a password on the phone, push the last 25 sms sent and received to your computer. Its an awesome program.
Even if they have factory reset your phone immediately and still had your sim inserted, you can push it remotely, and enable the software. Wicked awesome. Ive messaged the developer with a few ideas to make it system persistant..... hopefully he implements them as even a factory data reset would not remove the app

apologize mod. thank you for the action.
thanks for the replies guys. we hope future android OS will feature complete lock down from unauthorized user. from description, those kind of 3rd party apps will stop working if a perpetrator installs customROM although big chance legit owner can take action to protect their data.
You can also put in a pin, password, or even face recognition for the lock screen. That's the first line of defense, but on top of that, there are plenty of apps that can remote wipe, locate lost phones, take a picture after someone tries to open it and fails, etc. Cerberus & Lookout are really good. With Lookout, T-mobile customers have a little bit extra features, like the ability to make your phone scream remotely. I've tried it and I have to say it's pretty loud!
