You need to be more specific, because right now the only thing more vague would be to say 'i have a phone'. But, seriously, we need to know if it's rooted, if so what ROM, any hacks or mods, and even what phone it is. This wouldn't be the first time someone posted in the wrong section.

I can see your point... I am more familiar with the inner workings of automotive forums then this forum.
The phone is a t-mobile my touch 3g slide.
It is using the stock t-mobile program... I hate it, I dont know how to change it
It is not rooted, overclocked or modded in any way.

Ahh, ok. I know of a couple things that could cause the phone to be laggy. One is if you have a lot of text messages, you'll want to delete them. The second would be to clear your cache. Over time, apps that use data, such as the browser, will build up cache. To clear it you go to menu > settings > applications > manage applications > and you'll be brought to a list of your apps. Now just go through and start selecting apps and see if they have any cache and if so clear it. It will look something like the attached image. You'll also free up storage as well. The way you get to it may be a little different as it's been a while since I've messed with stock. Worst case scenario would be to do a factory reset, but I don't think that's necessary and should only be used as a last resort.
Also, I don't know about the random freezing, but the signal loss could be due to the SIM card coming loose or dying. The "locking" SIM card tray sometimes has a tendency to work it's way loose.

Froyo Reward if Found?

Hi all,
Using Froyo on my Kaiser and now its saying at the unlock screen "REWARD IF FOUND Please call xxx-xxx-xxxx (looks like an American number)
Im sure my phone isnt stolen as i distinctly remember buying it lol.
I dont want to give the number out incase some dude get pranked.
On another note, does anyone know how to adjust the touchscreen as the touchscreen adjust app just crashes and ive tried reseting screen to factory default as well.
Thanks.
Ok guys this is getting worse now, is anyone experiencing this?
It now says "This phone belongs to (looks like a Dutch name) and then their number.
The phone cant launch any applications and I am unable to get into fix permissions, clear dalvik cache etc because it doesnt stop there when loading, it just goes straight past and doesnt give me a chance!
Ive tried reloading another nbh on it and still the same.
Help?
Try loading another build on it.
Seriously, this is strange behaviour, but flashing another nbh will not change this, that'll only change the kernel and boot files.
You could also try flashing a stock WM rom, as this will certainly clean out everything on the phone, after that reflash and install android again.
Yea I know, weird or what, its a bit worrying as now I have 2 peoples phone numbers? =S
I would be rather angry if i was using a service like this, only to find out people are getting my phone number?
Ive asked this in the past but, is there anyway to save the txts, its just everytime I switch, i have to clear our data too as it seems to cause issues as well.
Saving a backup saves all data and program data, which I believe causes problems.
Thanks

And either MyBackup or Titanium backup for everything else.

Phone back on and off??????

ok recently when im using my evo, and i do some multitasking, the freaking phone keeps turning off and restarts itself, at the beggining i thought ok maybe it frost or something, but now every other day im using it and im in the internet and facebook and other apps, it freezes for a bit and restarts itself. which is annnnoyyyying me cuz i loose everything i was doinggggg....ANY SOLUTIONS WHATS THE PROBLEM, IS IT THE PHONE???
Are u rooted.... if u are have u tried other roms with multiple wipes before the flash? Also my old evo did that after i rooted it and i could not find a fix but luckily i broke the screen an got a new one that dosent have that issue!
i forgot to ask are u saying a full reboot or just to the boot screen?
My first guess would be that you deleted something that the system needs to run. I believe you cannot delete friendstream, calender, etc some stupid apps that you might believe are completely useless but somehow HTC integrated them into the system as necessary system files.
Also did you fiddle with your SetCPU or kernals? Using setcpu to alter your CPU frequency can result in system crashes and different kernals have different set vcores. If the vcore is too low for your chip it does not have enough juice to operate properly and therefore crashes.
If you are stock then I'm not sure what it could be...
no this phone is not rooted (itz cuz i dont know how too lol), and its exactly how it came when i first got it,
the only things im running is
launcher pro plus as my default launcher. and just normal widgets like fancy widget and custom icons nothing major.
everything works perfect, but it keeps restart itself after a do alot of multitasking, cuz usually a app will get the "Force close" when its not working but for me it just freezes and restart itself , it goes to the "Sprint logo & 4g start up" just like how it would do when you first start your phone, the only thing is doesnt do is that it doesnt shot the HTC EVO 4G IN THE BEGGINING, JUST THE SPRINT AND 4G LOGO, than everything reloads itself on the screen.
and it was like this before u switched to the new launcher?
Interesting... Have you scanned your phone for any malware? Perhaps there is something there that should not be.
Here is what I would do:
Factory reset and run the phone stock without any apps for a day. If you still have issues - switch phones ASAP.
If you do not have issues after the reset, start installing one app at a time till you find the one that is buggy.
Hope this helps.

yes, i install and uninstall the launcher and did a factory reset to the phone and it still the same way.. just seeing if other ppl have had this problem, if its the phone itself or the sprint service connection.
I'm really surprised your phone is not rooted. I was going to guess you were OC'd just a little too high. My Dad had similar problems with his unrooted EVO before the 2.2 update. I never narrowed it down but I think it was a problem with Beautiful Widgets. I loaded a bunch of non-root apps on his phone (LP, handcent, BW, etc.), trying to set him up, and he was plagued with reboots so he wiped it all and went back to 100% stock. I still can't convince him to root.

Its a combination of things really.
1) HTC is not known for having the best build quality. Motorola, for example, is light years ahead.
2) The Android marketplace is not regulated like the Appstore. You will frequently get force closed apps because 1) Apps are regulated by the devs, not Google and 2) there is just a huge abundance of Android phones with many differences between them.
Your phone should not be resetting itself. A force close is different than a reboot. I would call HTC/Sprint and ask for a different phone. Might want to add the fact that none of your friends Evos do this so it is singled out to yours specifically.
thanks, i might just do that but all sprint ever freaking does is that they gonna do a reset of the phone and i already did that, I KNOW WHAT IM DOING WITH MY PHONE,
and it would be nice to learn how to root, cuz i been thinking of doing for a whileeee after 2.2 update...and see if i can fix this problem.

My 2 cents:
Don't root with a problem already present. 99% of the members here will not be able to help you with any of the issues you might run into. Only the developers will be able to help with real issues. That being said, since you already have a problem the worst thing you can do is void your warranty by rooting.

This is not accurate..
80% of the members here ARE able to help, but 90% of those members will choose not to if you are rude and disrespectful like some other people choose to be.
Rooting your phone may very well fix your problems.
It may not help at all, but many of the roms available are far more stable than stock.
Uninstall all of your non-stock apps and see if the problem persists. If it does not then you know it was a software problem and you can either take the plunge and root and go from there, or reinstall your apps one by one and see when you start having problems again. If you uninstall all non-stock apps and you still have issues then you may have a hardware problem in which case you should try to get your ohone replaced especially if you are still in your 30 days.
Keep in mind that even if you root and technically void your warranty a) your warranty being void is at the discretion of the CS rep you talk to and b) rooting does NOT void your insurance and your insurance covers manufacturing defects at no cost to you.
Try to learn some basic troubleshooting habits and avoid things like: homophobic comments, advising members to kill themselves, excessive swearing, calling people trolls when you are clearly being a troll yourself, and you will get all the advice you ask for.
Unrevoked has been pulled temporarily for some bugfixing so rooting 2.2 is actually not possible right now until they re-release it, or you find a copy of Unrevoked 3 somewhere (which is a bad idea, only use an official copy made available by the Unrevoked team) so take some time to read up, ask questions and understand some of the fundamentals of what you are getting into before you do something like break your wifi and not realize it's an easy fix then come on here and freak out.
Rooting is intimidating before you do it the first few times, but if you follow the guides to the letter and stay calm you'll be just fine. Just don't forget the staying calm part. There isn't much you can do to your phone that is irreversible, it's just a matter of preparing for potential problems and knowing what steps to take to recover from them.
If you are remotely inclined to learn how to root your phone then do it!! But only if you have enough time to devote to what will soon become your new hobby/obsession, it's that much fun

No offense, but why is this still an issue? If OP did a factory reset, which is assumed to bring the phone back to a clean stock, and this problem still persists then the obvious solution would be to get a replacement. Yes, a replacement could take some time to arrive, but if this is a hardware issue, any amount of troubleshooting on the software side wouldn't matter. Then again, maybe you have a faulty micro-sd card and could be simple as swapping for a new one. Anyways, if you did a MSL/factory reset to a clean slate and your phone still intermittenly reboots, go get a new one. Good luck.

I think what he meant was weather or not this still happens without installing launcherpro at all, when you're just running the default launcher. Also, does it still happen if you remove/uninstall all of your widgets/apps? If yes, and this still happens with no widgets running, and no apps installed, you may want to talk to Sprint about an exchange.

Issue with apps on SD after reboot

Hi all,
I have as strange issue in regards to apps on the SD card. I'm rooted, S-off on 3.29 stock. I installed installLocationMod, which enabled me to move any apps, even those not necessarily programmed, to be moved on 2.2 to the SD card. I basically moved everything that's not system, gapp, or widget related.
Everything works great, until I have to reboot, or I attach the phone to a PC as a hard drive. Basically, the apps don't come back after the phone comes back up, or its disconnected from the PC. I have to spend many hours doing reboots, battery pulls, dalvic cache wipes, etc, and then seemingly randomly, they pop back up.
When they're missing in the app list, the settings / app manager shows that they're there, but they're always "computing" when I select one to read the properties. Also, the market installer gets stuck, and I can't uninstall anything either.
Recently, I've read threads about partitioning the card before moving apps to SD.. is that still necessary with 2.2? Is that why this is such a pain? I'm thinking maybe the only solution is to move everything back to where they came from, and only move those apps that are specifically programmed to be moved on a non-rooted phone, and get rid of the modlocationinstall program altogether. That's a drag because I don't have room for all the apps, so I'll have to lose some... which is one of the reasons I rooted to begin with.
Any ideas? BTW, this is the second SD card that does this. The card is good.
Thanks,
Mike
Hey, I found this elsewhere on the forums in the LimeMOD rom in regards to mod install location:
"important !!! after a reboot you need to stop LauncherPro in the running applications menu to reload all sd installed apps !!! "
Could Sense be the reason for the missing apps issue? Is there a way to 'postpone' it on reboot?
Thx,
Mike

I'm thinking I might try stopping the Sense service after the reboot and letting it restart and see if they come back. I'll try it if I have to reboot again.. I'm actually avoiding rebooting at all cost now since it takes hours of frustration to get back to working order again.
Another thing I noticed.. alot of programs have that I moved have hidden services that are listed in a start-up auditor I installed just to see what the system was doing on boot up. I originally thought I'd be safe moving them since I didn't have widgets associated with them, or they didn't seem system related. Now I'm beginning to realize that I might have to be more careful what is moved, since I don't always know how they'll behave on boot. I suppose that's another reason why its best for non-techies just to rely on devs to build the default 2.2 a2sd behaviour into their programs, rather than forcing them there with stuff like mod install location.
Oh well... I'll keep you all updated when I know more. I'm rather surprised though, that more people aren't experiencing this...
Restarting Sense doesn't do anything. It seems still to be completely random.. usually after 4 or 5 hours of me continually manual rebooting. Nobody has any input at all?

update:
After several unsuccessful reboots, I was able to get back the apps by going into settings / phone storage and unmounting the card, and remounting it, with no reboot. I've tried that in the past and just had the phone lock up, but this time it worked. FWIW, modinstalllocation was set to auto, and debug was off. I don't know if its repeatable, since I don't relish having half my phone unavailable for half the day to test it, but next time I lose everyting, I'll try it again and update the thread. I realize that judging from the lack of responses, most of you all don't really care, but since one guy did say he had the same problem, and to prevent someone in the future from going through all this aggravation, I'll keep on top of this. It will be my little contribution to the forum...
UPDATE: Had to finally do a reboot, and all the SD apps came back! I'm thinking the card dismount/remount did the trick

[Q] Sporadic Incoming Calls, My Phone Number Unknown...

Let me start this question with a big thanks to all the developers/etc. out there. The work being done is AMAZING!
I am a new "rooter", but learning fast. I am running Cyanoginger 1.1 on my MT3GS. I have noticed a few things that aren't quite right, and I am unsure if they are related to each other, or to Cm 6.1.1, or ~ginger 1.1, or...
1. Incoming phone calls seem to sporadically go to voicemail instead of the phone. My phone can be sitting on my desk with full bars, I'll call my phone from my desk, it'll ring once or twice and jump to voicemail (nothing shows up on the MyTouch). I'll call again 10 seconds later, and it goes to my phone. Very sporadic (maybe 1 in 20 calls?)
2. My phone number shows Unknown in Settings > About phone > Status. I read in a few forums that this may be the case untill you place/receive a call, but mine is still showing unknown.
3. My market purchases are no longer integrated with carrier billing. It's asking for a credit card instead of automatically billing me at T-Mobile.
Like I said, I'm a noob at rooting/modding, but I learn quick Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated!

The unknown number thing has to do with cm6.1.1. It shouldn't affect you anyway. For the first issue, probably t-mobile issue, neither your phone nor your ROM. Happens to me on all my phones, even my dumbphones.
The market thing is something that you give up when you flash a custom ROM. I think there might be something that can tie market to your tmobile account, but I can't find it again, it was mentioned in a thread recently.
Thanks for the quick response!
On points 2 and 3, I guess that's just the way it is. Little things, I can definitely deal.
On the first point, I just want to make sure this isn't happening because of how I flashed new roms, or how I upgraded the radio, etc.
FWIW, here's the process I used:
- rooted phone with adb/file copy, etc., etc.
- booted to ESPRIMG.zip (oops, rebooted, no backup of system!)
- booted to Clockwork
- cleared data, cleared cache, flashed CM 6.1.1, flashed gapps, rebooted
- went back to clockwork flashed radio from 7.07.(????) directly to 7.09.35.10, rebooted
- "stumbled" across Cyanoginger 1.1...
- booted to Clockwork, cleared data, cleared cache, flashed to Cyanoginger 1.1
The phone prior to rooting never had any issues receiving calls, but who knows, maybe it's because I'm staring at it, maybe it's solar flares, maybe I've angered the cell phone gods...ok, humor's "off" a bit today
If you have any further thoughts, let me know; otherwise thanks for your help! I really appreciate it!
Yeah that all sounds right. I haven't ever had issues with my phone number showing up, it seems to only happen to some people, and like you said, normally it goes away after placing or receiving a call. Who knows. I don't think it affects any apps though. I could be wrong about that, not sure. It might be your sim card, which would explain some calls not going through as well.
I know there is a way to tie the market to your t-mobile account, I just can't remember at the moment. I googled around, couldn't find anything. I think it's called market fix or something rather. I could be thinking of something else though. Frankly I like paying with my debit card better, it was never a huge deal for me, so I never thought too much into it.

I know exactly what you're talking about... I just can't seem to find it either. It was in a thread recently, like you said.
Maybe it's just vanished
I'm gonna keep searching though.
EDIT: So I was starting to flip out, cause I could not for the life of me find the thread...
But I decided to go to my phone and see if maybe I could just find the app in the market. Then I saw that I had already searched for it before, because I actually have the same issue. I just never downloaded it and tested it out.
It's called "Market Enabler"
I'm going to download it now and test it myself.
EDIT 2: Or maybe that's not it. I don't know, I can't seem to figure it out. Maybe MusicMan can take a look? I could have sworn this was an app suggested for that, but it just looks like it makes it so you can see apps that aren't on certain carriers.

Well, I "stumbled" across the solution to #2. As far as I've heard from others so far, it's purely cosmetic, but...
Go to Settings > Call Settings > Additional Settings > My phone number and enter the number. Now when you go to Settings > About phone > Status it will show the number you entered.
Again, this may be purely cosmetic, and I've noticed if you reboot, the setting gets wiped. Strange...but there you go...
Sorry to bring up this issue back up but I just recently Rooted my phone as well and am having the same problem with sporadic calls not coming to my phone.
For example, last night my father told me that he tried to call me at least 3 times in a row and it would go straight to voicemail, however today he called me (like 2 mins ago) and the phone rang as normal. Heres what I've noticed on the phone:
-the phone will drop all bars sporadically for no apparent reason, as I have never had any service issues in my house.
-it does this when its been idle for a couple of minutes and as soon as I wake it up it will show 0 bars then jump to the normal 2-3 I usually get at my place.
-whenever the bars drop to 0 my 3g/HSPA service will still show as normal
I'm not completely new to Rooting (Rooted my original G1), however my last experience with it was back on CM4.1 on my G1, so there may be a o couple of things I missed
Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi, I've a similar problem: on outgoing calls anyone on any phone is able to see my number, they always get calls from "unknown" from my phone. I use wolfbreak's rom with cyanogen and I've allready set in the settings the option to show my number on outgoing calls, but doesn't work. how can I do?

What is "Carrier Call Utility" ?

I've never seen this "app" before. It just appeared today. Looks like it was pushed down from Sprint. It's called simply "Carrier Call Utility" and the icon is the Sprint logo. Version 6.0.015
It can't be opened, stopped, or uninstalled.
Does anyone know what it is? Is it new or did I just not see it before?
Carrier Call Utility
I do hope someone comes up with an answer for this. I just this morning (04/08/17) saw that it had "successfully been installed" on my phone as well. I have an ex son in law who installs imsi catcher quality spyware on the phones of his ex family members, so it is especially worrying for me. I can't imagine that it is something I need since the phone has worked fine without it all this time, so even if it's not something dangerous, it is 17.45mb of space being used by something utterly without merit at best and a liability at worst...
Anyone have any ideas? Talking to Sprint is not likely to get an answer that makes any sense.
It appeared on my phone too. Really annoying. I tried to find out what it is online, and finding nothing but this thread, I decided to just pull its plug if I could. I went into Settings, General, Apps and found it there. "Force Stop" and "Uninstall" weren't active for this app, so I clicked on the upper right dots and was able to disable the app that way. It showed way too many permissions for it to access my files and information anyway, which never makes me happy. It said that all data would be lost if I did, and asked if I wanted to revert back to the old app. Since I didn't ASK for this app, I clicked okay for it to remove and replace it. The app was replaced with the old Sprint Zone app. Which I never used anyway.
I check my phone just now, 4/11/17, I don't have this app....
I have Boost Mobile and just now it was force installed and a message said boost zone is now my boost. I unistalled app update for carrier xall utility and unindtslled my boost and carrier call utility disappeared but nothing shows in uninstalled apps. I cleared my browsers cache and rebooted phone.
Update to my reply: It has reinstalled on my lgk3 phone three times now. I uninstall "my boost" which reverts back to "boost zone" which gets of call carrier utillity from my installed apps. But it just reinstalls again later.

Have to agree with Annoyed Too; it is another version (maybe?) of the Sprint Zone app, which like Annoyed Too, I never used. I never even opened it to see what it supposedly did. I can force stop mine after doing the reversion back to original app, but this is almost as annoying as Sprint Optimizer, the function of which is evidently to eat your battery. That's another one I have to keep force-stopping and can't get rid of...
I have boost mobile too and lookout security said it was safe to install

Oh, I'm sure it's safe enough, as it is a Sprint program, but the point is that it is there taking up resources and space with little if any benefit to the phone user. It is 17.45MB of uselessness that I'm certain no more than 0.5% of the population will ever even open to access and about 10% of THAT number will never use at all. I actually don't know a single person that has used Sprint Zone for anything, ever! More than half the people I speak to regularly have Sprint and none of them ever uses it; most of us have no real idea what it is supposed to be for, lol!
When I uninstalled the updates, it reset itself back to the old Sprint Zone.
Same thing happened to me. I have Boost Mobile so the app on my phone is called My Boost. I reverted back to the factory version yesterday (Boost Zone) and discovered that such reversion only lasts 24 hours. My Boost was reinstalled. Looks like I need to root, though I don't want to because I bricked my previous phone.
I've never rooted a device simply because I figure that what you said would be exactly what would happen to me; the device would be a paperweight at the end of the process. I just wish we had a little more control over what ends up on our phones. If we wanted the particular software, we would research the apps, choose apps useful to us as individual users and install them ourselves. It seems like they would get that the fact that we didn't do that means we don't want the app on our devices. Of course, what WE want rarely plays a role in what the carrier companies decide to clutter up our phones with...
It just popped up as an update on my phone a little bit ago. I pressed on it and it disappeared. Had to go into settings to find it. This is the only link that comes up when I googled it. Then I had a notification pop up saying is the new Sprint Zone. I'm about sick of these updates and random stuff being added to my phone without my permission. Hell, I have an S6 so I can't install a sd card for more space so please stop. We should be allowed to delete applications as we please unless they are really needed period.
