So i'm looking at this ad from a kid who wants to sell his One X right. The only problem is, it is not recognized by computers anymore but it can be charged. He clearly says the usb won't work because he rooted it, now surely this can be fixed. I'm thinking of buying it and of course repairing it.
Now my question is, what's the worst that could have happened to the One x that makes the usb unusable?(sofware wise of course)
here's a photo of the bootloader

Is this an actual final state picture of the phone ? It says fastboot usb in red text ! That's a good thing. I think its a pc driver problem. Fastboot usb is only active when the phone is recognized by the pc.

I actually already contacted the guy and I hope this One x is going to be mine!:good:
On the other hand maybe he was referring to internal storage? I really want more info out of this guy but on the other hand I dont want him to revoke his offer because maybe he'll think he can repair it himself haha
I personally think its a driver issue. Can be a pain in the ass. But once correct installed it will be fine. Dont hold me responsible
Cheers and welcome to the club

Haha of course I dont hold you responsible, my guess on worst case scenario is a usb connector swap, also not sure if this photo was taken in its final state. Anyway I can't get this offer get away, the price is ridiculous
Then go for it. You have my blessing

Little update, decided to call him and he said someone is coming over tomorrow night to check the phone out, also that someone is having a one-hour drive to get this phone! Pretty sure this offer slipped through my fingers damnit
That's a shame.....
All the best.

About a week ago I started having the same issue as the person who started this thread:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/25020-screen-pixelated/
Now my question is, I have a ding in the casing of my phone that happened long before the screen issues. Would Verizon warranty my phone even with the ding in it? Seeing how the screen problems aren't related to the ding? And if they were to, would they charge me full retail for the replacement phone once they get my old one and see the ding?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Here's a picture of the ding in case anyone asks.
It looks worse in the picture than it really is.

Bad thread URL, bro. But for them to deny warranty work, they have to prove that the ding is related, so I would say you are good, as long as you arent taking it to them for the ding.

Link fixed Adryn
Thanks for the catch.
That's a little bigger than a "ding"...
As adrynalyne said, unless they think the screen issues are related to the case damage, you should be good. Kinda depends on the CS rep you get.

Yea, heat gun it and solder a new one on.
DON'T stick anything in, I repeat, DON'T stick anything in that hole, i know it's tempting to fulfill your sexual urges, but please DON'T, you won't like it.

I've been searching over the web for a galaxy nexus antenna connecting port(not sure how you should call it) and I can't find a site where I can buy a replacement part...
Do you know where I can find one?

Ok...I screwed up here and need a little direction
I installed a rooted stock image to my phone, then installed CWM and then stupidly installed a custom rom called omega. Unfortunately that was for the I9300 version and I have a SGH-I747M
So now my phone is unresponsive, meaning it will not turn on using any button combo. Took out the battery and let it sit for awhile and and then tried button combo's again and still nothing.
The only sign of life I have right now is my computer detects it when I plug and unplug the usb cord and if I leave my battery out and plug in the usb cord I get a red light in the top left corner. Nothing on the screen though to indicate charging or anything.
I have gathered I have a hard bricked phone on my hands.
Now what are my options? I read about a USB jig as well as a jtag fix so please tell me more about these and if they are my only option please. I wouldn't mind a referral to someone within Canada that fixes them for a decent price.
I'm pretty sure USB jig is your only fix. Where in Canada are you?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Hard brick.
Highly doubt a USB Jig will fix that.
You'll need to JTAG. There are folks on eBay who offer the service for $30+.
I am in Halifax, N.S. . I have a friend that has some equipment that might do it but since I am not sure exactly what equipment that is, I cannot be sure he can do it. I will check out ebay but do you know of a solid jtag tutorial for this that I can show him?
Is there anything besides RIFF equipment that can do this? Like I said my friend does have some special equipment but I highly doubt he has a specific machine like the RIFF jtag device.

This will not work for me. My only option it seems is a jtag fix.
What I am still looking for is if it is possible to use hardware typically used to jtag xbox 360's to re-flash this phone. I have a tech savvy friend that has this type of equipment that can do it for me locally but I need instructions to give him. Can someone point me to directions that don't just use the RIFF equipment?

Something like that...but I'm dealing with it well. I'm usually pretty good at following instructions but this time I just got tired and careless.

Is there any option two replace just the cable instead of buying a whole new display assembly?
Thanks for your help and sorry for my bad english.
Greetings

Thank you! I try it!
Hey,
the cable arrived today. I tried to get it build in but no change. It's too tricky. I think it's not possible to get the screen off without a brick. If someone can put the screen away without bricking it, it's very hard to connect the new cable to the screen.
The phone is dead. Maybe i found a cheap damaged phone with a working screen on ebay... We will see.
I will try it.
Hope you can fix the phone asap
The button does nothing, I guess. Not sure what it is. Kinda looks like received from phone, ear piece and battery

The cables are more receivers then connectors
The 2 white connectors on the left are usually used on 12 volts mainboards. Never seen them on any phone before.
Cant link it in any way to a phone, where did you find it ? Thats some wiring stuff from something else, thats also a battery thats not used in a phone. How did you link it to the M8 ?
Think this is off topic as its no part of an htc m8, so not even shure why you ask here ?

Lol I was looking for off topic but I also had it in my mind that it was some sport of Bluetooth. Found them stuffed away, like they were even being hidden. Maybe in my head though hahaha
