[Q] Delete all content without removing root - HTC One X

Hi All,
I'm not sure if this can be done, but my girlfriend is in need of a new phone and I've just upgraded to the One. My One X is hers for the taking, so I want to remove all the data and accounts, but not factory reset to remove the root.
What are my options for deleting content without a factory reset - I've not needed to do it before, so I have no idea - other than removing each thing individually, then mass deleting apps etc.. Seems a long-winded way of doing it.
Anyone any ideas?

Use Titanium Backup to clear your data of all the apps... Use app uninstaller from the GO team that removes all apps quickly... Delete the accounts in the settings menu...

It's the same thing as uninstalling from "settings>apps"... :silly:
@ OP
Factory reset, flash supersu... done!
That's the easiest and fastest way! :good:

He has explicitly said NO FACTORY RESET... and the reason why I suggested the application is because you don't have to select the uninstall option each time if you're rooted...

Your response was what I thought might be the case. It's more that, because she's going to be transferring her stuff over from her current phone, I didn't want to leave anything on that would get mixed up or confuse any of the settings if I forgot to remove any. I'd hoped there may be a way to just clear all content (with one lazy-button!), without factory reset.
Don't want to factory reset and flash, as I have a new laptop without all the root stuff - can't be bothered to go through it all for the sake of taking off bloat etc (all my gf will be interested in)
Thanks for the responses - much obliged.

If you have surfed unscrupulous sites i.e porn etc. You don't have to be so extreme, you can clear cache and history. If your ultra paranoid do a factory reset from either boot loader or in your settings then apply root.

Use nandroid backup on other phone?

I just spent a long time tweaking my current system,
TPR 2.21
CC_V2
Apps installed etc...
I'm about to do the whole process for my wifes phone, & I was curious if I could restore MY nandroid backup on her phone, and then just change the account info stuff...
Or is it so much hastle that way that it's better just to install fresh?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
I do it for my GF's phone with all 3 of her replacements. Has to be Epic to Epic of course.

EDIT - i did a triple wipe data in CMW and now it looks good... curious though about unlinking an account if it's possible

i found this below on another site and i'm going to check it out
http://androidforums.com/ally-all-t...ount-android-without-doing-factory-reset.html
Remove main Google account from Android without doing a factory reset.
This worked on my ally running 2.2 Froyo with Cricket flash---Its good for those of you needing to change your primary Google account and dont want to lose any flashing or apps---I only lost the emails and contacts from the primary account so I suggest you back them up if you want to keep them.
You can do this if your phone is rooted:
All you have to do is use Root Explorer and go to /data/system/ find accounts.db and rename it to accounts.db.bak so I could just name it back if I had a problem instead of doing a restore. I also did a Nandroid backup.. Reboot your phone and goto settings>accounts and sync>add account and your good to go!!!!
*You can use AntTek Explorer instead of Root Explorer--its free
**I would do a NANDROID backup before, just in case you delete the wrong file accidentally.

IT WORKED!!! but then i got the Google talk authentication failed error like below
Ok as fortune would have it I had to use this trick recently with my wifes phone recently.
So I did it worked great.
The only problem is now it is occasionally asking on both my phone and hers

So then i found this:
How to fix google talk authentication failed
I just thought id post this information so everyone wouldn't have to search for it. Go to settings-applications-manage applications and scroll down to market and clear data then scroll down to google services framework and clear data then reboot you're phone and that's it enjoy. Remember it will take about 10 minutes to be able to use the market again.

I had to use titanium backup to to the wipe data, but it did the trick
{i only did this on the *NEW PHONE*}
to validate, i did a google talk -> google talk chat session between the phones.
Previously undoable
Now i'm going to make a nandorid of my wifes phone so i don't have to do this again!!

I think you have to add the second account then delete the first in syncs. Could be wrong though.

When you first setup your phone after a clean ROM flash it usually ask you if you want to sync up your Google applications. If you unchecked one of the options it will not automatically sync Google Apps from the Play Store. For me i prefer not to autosync and use Titanium Backup to restore my apps. This is much faster. There are some apps which when restore with TBU will not activate properly and for those i am not restoring from backup.
You could also access the Play Store from a web browser and directly send the installation to you phone. This way you don't have to waste time going through each App on your phone.
Yeah it doesn't work for me either. It worked great on my Galaxy Note but has never worked on the S3 anyone have a clue on how to fix this??? THanks

Safe to remove bloatware apps?

i didnt see any thread in here for the safe to remove apps on the Note 2
anybody have a list?
I think this is a legitimate question. For those of us that choose to remove system apps without using an Aroma type program we can really mess up functionality if we delete the wrong stuff. I would like to see a thread where a qualified Dev makes a list of all the system apps that come pre installed and tells us whether they are safe to remove or not
IIRC that stupid Sprint Connections Optimizer can at best only be frozen...if you try to remove it bad things happen. Most of the other bloat you can live without ime.

Titaniums Backup is your friend. Backup everything, then freeze, test. If ok, then delete and test. If ok, cool. If not, restore or unfreeze.

Notifications keeps resetting back to silent.

I'm sure it's an app that's causing this issue, buy I cant figure this out. My notifications keep resetting to silent some how. Mainly my email notification sounds and occasionally my text message sounds.
Anyone experience this too, or found the culprit?
Do you installed any battery saver app? If yes check the setting for this app and stop the "auto turn off sync"
or install an app called " auto sync" available in the store..

Yeah I was going to tell you to go check what was the last thing you installed last? That might b causing the problem your having! Fyi
Most of those battery app's are junk and don't really help you! That's why I learned with my Skyrocket, not to use unnecessary app's. I've tried everything with that phone. And over time you'll see what is good and what is junk!
So NOW if you want to clear out the audio setting!
Then go into setting, applications, All, setting, clear data, reboot into recovery and then wipe cache & dalvik and see if it's still happening. After you set up your audio sounds! Might b something that was, corrupt in the data causing it!

Clearing out your setting data, you don't need to b rooted to do that FYI.
And another thing if it's a real problem for you then do a FDR [factory data reset] and you should b good to go then.

Hey, I found out the issue to this problem.. Not sure if it can be posted somewhere as "Fixed"...or maybe I should start another post with the original post inside it for reference??
I had my Ringtones/Notification sounds I downloaded from the web or created on my SD Memory card. I was using the sounds from there and not the device. I have now copied and pasted them into the Ringtone and Notification folders on my Device itself and they stay.
To test this, I used 2 different Google e-mail accounts and set 1 Ringtone/Notification sound from my Device and the other Gmail account to a Ringtone/Notification sound from my SD memory card. The one from my memory card kept changing to a 5 Digit number. The other one didn't..
I hope this helps others????

Depends, how clean are you trying to make it?
I remove a ton of stuff, but I do actually use a few of the Asus apps.
I'd also like to see if we could create a list of everything you can uninstall, personally until CM12 comes to the ZF2 I'd like to uninstall every single non-essential ASUS application to the point where my device is as close to stock android as possible. Anyone know of such a list?

I'll get some things put together for app/location. There's a lot that can be removed but causes the Asus experience to suffer. There's a lot that just shouldn't be there.
I'll try to get a list with things organized by impact. There's a bunch of stuff that's installed but doesn't even show up. Straight up junk.

If you're unrooted, you can't uninstall system apps with the regular uninstall process. It will only uninstall updates back to the stock build version. Then it will update again from the Play Store, which is probably what you're seeing.
