More to the point, why do people root, when they have no reason to..... If you want to know things you can do after root, there is no real need to root.

Now that your rooted you can get rid of bloatware by using an app called root explorer, navigate to the folders stored on your phone and delete everything you see. Bloatware will be gone

Personally, I think Titanium Backup is better for removing bloat because it removes data associated with the bloat too
Also, to backup and restore your rom you need an unlocked bootloader. Root won't help you with that
I think you might have missed the sarcasm, if im not mistaken

And also, this should have been in Q & A not general.
Titanium is awesome.

get titainium backup and freeze everything. Then get app 2 or sd and move some stuff over
Good Luck
i saw app that change the command of the R and L buttons
but i cant find her now
Maybe it's time for a sticky thread about the best apps with root access? I think that would be a great idea. I wanted to root for a couple reasons (WiFi tethering, Six Axis controller, and removing bloatware) but there were still some things that I didn't know about that I do now because of a previous thread I made like this one.

Bloatware is any app installed on your phone by a service provider that you don't want, but without root cannot get rid of. (i.e. On verizon, they include vzw navigator, a pay-to-use navigation system; backup assistant, a "service" that works the exact same way as any android automatically syncs your contacts with your gmail account; and visual voicemail, a pay-to-use voicemail system that is equivalent to google voice)

Aww come on people, xda search button fail is 1 thing but google fail takes the cake. Now you must be trolling.
Whats next? Are you going to ask how to find google in the dev forums?
Hey dude. If you dont want to answer then just shut up. If i am really trolling then who cares, if other people know im trolling they wouldnt answer me and it is fine with me. Just freakin mind your own business and dont take opportunities to show off that youre better than any of the xda mate here.

Dude go take your fustrations out on your wife or kids, if you think im showing off because i know how to read then that really doesnt say much about you.
Like the majority of people here, if i do not know something i will go look it up, not ask others to do it for me. Your either super lazy or just plain stupid.
If paxchristos already answered then its over right. Why would you add up on things on which is already answered. Isnt it showing off. Why would i be frustrated? It is you who should be frustrated because nobody cares about how you show off here. I bet youre also doing it on others. Theres a problem with your attitude man. And stupidity is not even enough to describe. Maybe its just reasonable enough to take that frustration out on yourself. This is a place of information, from basic to advance. This isnt a place of showing off.

I'm going to be rooting mine and my girlfriends phone in the next few days. I wanted to see about removing the Bloatware on the phones once they are rooted. Is there anything special I need to download to be able to remove them? I have most of them disabled but would like to totally get rid if them. I searched all over for an answer but was unable to find one.
Thanks in advance.

Titanium backup. Just download it from the play store and that will do the trick. Search the forum to see which apps are safe to remove tho.
Sent from my SGH-T999
Titanium backup. It allows you to uninstall anything. If you are not sure about a program, you can freeze it, which will not allow the program to run, then if no problems occur it can be uninstalled. if you search, you can find an ongoing list of programs safe to delete
Thank you guys, I ended up getting the pro version and will search for that list of apps you talkrd about and go from there.

You can't do that with TB. Find these bloatware-free ROMs in the android dev forum.
Hey guys, I just got an S3 3 days ago, just got paid again and was wondering if I should go ahead and spring for the note 2 but everyone keeps telling me since the note 2 has exynos, it will be hard to develop for or something? I've had an iPhone for 5 years so I'm a clinical retard when it comes to android stuff. It almost seems like the people saying that are kind of jealous that they don't or can't get the note 2. I was just wondering if you can easily root the note 2 and flash CM10, because I hate bloatware and love CM10 sounds. If CM10 isn't available is it possible to de bloat it at all?
De bloating is no problem. CM10 will lose the S-pen functionality on this monster.

Thanks for the reply brother. Another quick question, I used a very easy toolkit to root my S3, I don't remember who made but it was in green text and in console. Is there anything like that available for the note 2, it was amazingly simple to use and easily un rooted my S3, I've been on Android for all of 4 days so excuse my nubishness. Lol
Right now it is a little more difficult to root than a 1 click method...but in time I bet the developers will make it happen..
MY honest opinion...get the Note II...

I rooted within 5 minutes of getting the phone, but I would imagine that this only applies if you're rooted. AT&T doesn't want you taking its bloat/spy/malware off, so I really doubt they'd let an unrooted user go through and delete the apps.
I'm waiting for the Multi-view update before rooting. Save myself from having to unroot. And as for bloatware, you can just "disable" it - without rooting.
And as for it being "dead in the water".... what you talking about? News to me...

As far as rooting goes... There is a method on here that literally takes about 3 mins from beginning to end.. very easy. Once rooted, just download and install Cleanrom Lite 1.0...this rom is debloated and extremely fast/smooth. There are plenty of sms apps that provide quick reply... gosms/chompsms/handcent are just a few. This is one awesome phone and I wouldn't worry too much about development, or lack thereof.

No need to root to de-bloat. I'm on the stock ROM, haven't seen a need to root yet.
1. Go to: "Settings | Application Manager" and swipe over to the "All" tab.
2. Find what you want gone (i.e. all of the AT&T apps) and tap it.
3. Clear data, Clear cache. Some apps might also require you to "uninstall updates".
4. Force stop.
5. Disable.
You're done. If you later want to re-enable something, scroll down to the bottom of the "All" list ... it has everything you've disabled listed there. I've disabled about 32 things that came preloaded, including almost all the Samsung cloud stuff, GMail, all the Google Sync services, all the Google additional services (apps like Google+ and Google Play Magazines/Movies & TV/Music, not Android system services), with no issues whatsoever.

Is there an SMS app with Quick Reply that preserves the look of the stock Jelly Bean SMS app? I really like the way it looks already loaded on the Note 2 so I don't want to take away its aesthetics.

yes go to setting-application manager slide to the right until u see all apps then scroll down to any app u want to debloat select then disable. Boom the app will disappear. Remember this method only disable the app if u want to delete them then need root. Learn about Odin stuff that easy for new noobs. Good luck
Hello Everyone,
Since it looks like I will be stuck on OTA 4.3 version for awhile,I might as well play with it for awhile... I was just wondering what would be the best way to de-bloat this sucker? I am rooted already and have CWM 6.0.4.3 installed. Has there been a script developed already like Ashman's for this new version?
Thank you in advance!

I haven't seen a new list or script. An old list I came across has a post to a docs spreadsheet for the SGS3
docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?pli=1&key=0AqTvctlW89DtdC1qVUlLeVFTV3ZOdUtDclpBdVRQOUE&f=true&noheader=true&gid=0
attributed to the xda member 1234568
Please understand that I am not vouching for anything on that list, even the things I have frozen with TiBu
Thank you all for your help with this. I got rid of a bunch of apps I didn't want and things are running smoothly

I have found as others have if you turn off Paper Artist that Gallery force closes when you attempt to share a picture. Not sure if using Tibu will cause the same issue, I haven't re-rooted yet. You may want to test if you got rid of Paper Artist. Just a thought.

Depends, how clean are you trying to make it?
I remove a ton of stuff, but I do actually use a few of the Asus apps.
I'd also like to see if we could create a list of everything you can uninstall, personally until CM12 comes to the ZF2 I'd like to uninstall every single non-essential ASUS application to the point where my device is as close to stock android as possible. Anyone know of such a list?

I'll get some things put together for app/location. There's a lot that can be removed but causes the Asus experience to suffer. There's a lot that just shouldn't be there.
I'll try to get a list with things organized by impact. There's a bunch of stuff that's installed but doesn't even show up. Straight up junk.

If you're unrooted, you can't uninstall system apps with the regular uninstall process. It will only uninstall updates back to the stock build version. Then it will update again from the Play Store, which is probably what you're seeing.
