When you first setup your phone after a clean ROM flash it usually ask you if you want to sync up your Google applications. If you unchecked one of the options it will not automatically sync Google Apps from the Play Store. For me i prefer not to autosync and use Titanium Backup to restore my apps. This is much faster. There are some apps which when restore with TBU will not activate properly and for those i am not restoring from backup.
You could also access the Play Store from a web browser and directly send the installation to you phone. This way you don't have to waste time going through each App on your phone.

Yeah it doesn't work for me either. It worked great on my Galaxy Note but has never worked on the S3 anyone have a clue on how to fix this??? THanks

I'm having the same problem.... That sucks.

Use Rom toolbox its amazing and the dev actually helps you

Backup Google Wallet

So I have Google Wallet and I'm bout to flash my phone... I need to know what the best way to back up and restore Google Wallet data is...
I could definitely be wrong, but i was under the impression that if you restore Wallet data after changing ROMs that it will most likely cause the 'secure element' error and you wont be able to use wallet anymore ever.
I believe the correct thing to do is to open the Wallet app, clear all data from within app. Then after installing your new ROM do a fresh install of Wallet (if it wasnt already included in the GApps you most likely had to flash).
Hopefully others will chime in and correct me if i misspoke
I use Google servers restoring all my apps, when switching to different rom . I've been using google wallet with stock, axiom 2.4, and milestone 2.
I never use Titanium or other method to backup apps.

if I clear my wallet data will it restore my $100 balance after re-installing it in a new ROM?
You won't lose your money. Google Wallet reactivates itself when you reinstall the app and log back in to your Google account. I've done it multiple times already on mine going between different roms and haven't had any problems with my google wallet.

Ahh the beauty of Google services and Android
As stated above, before wiping data and flashing new roms, reset the app from within the Google Wallet settings menu. You should be good to go after that. All your money and card info will transfer over.
make sure you document your user ID so if it doesn't successfully restore your account, google can locate your funds. some people here have lost their balance and sol since they didn't write this number down.

This is probably the safest thing to do. However, I don't even reset the app before i flash a new ROM (which I do twice a week), and i have never had a problem with my $$ transferring when i re-install Wallet
Does anyone know how to flash factory image to the phone via fastboot? I need help with this and my other thread about that is dead :<
Anyone wanna be generous with their knowledge?
http://www.wugfresh.com/dev/gnex-root-toolkit/ If you download the factory rom and use this tool it will flash the factory image for you, I have used it to unroot my Nexus and it works great.
This video encouraged me to activate google wallet on my phone. I got $10 for doing so.

There is a few work a rounds for this and it is different for different people.
1.go to sync, then Google. Click to unsync Google mail and click to sync again.
2. Go into all applications, find Google services framework or something like that and clear all of it's data.
3. This is known to work less but just try hitting install repeatedly and it MIGHT work.
Hope I helped.

Two frozen Google apps return

Two Google apps -- Play Books and Play Movies & TV -- keeping returning from the land of the frozen. I go back into TB Pro and refreeze, and within a couple of days at most they are back. All the other Google apps I've frozen remain so. Is there something else on the list I also need to freeze?
When I disable them in app manager they come back after a reboot as well. I think its tied to the play store or something that keeps activating them.

I checked on Play and on app manager for auto update option and don't see one. Odd that only these two are persistent despite freezing. I have the feeling there's another item on TB that needs freezing as well to fix this.
I got sick of this and since I do not want nor need them, I just deleted them

Ah, the more brutal approach. If that worked, and you have no regrets or issues as a result, that seems my only course of action as well.
Why you bother to freeze them or delete? It's part of former Google Market. Do.'t see benefit from deleting it. Can you share your thoughts?

Basically, I have four pages of icons under apps, and many of them are for services I have no interest in and will never use. I'm not trying to save space...I think there's 11 GB free, but I find the clutter off-putting.
Not sure I understand the part about Google Market. Play is just the same thing renamed, isn't it? Plus new look and feel.
Anyway, just de-cluttering the UI.
Yup it comes back now.. Use menu - > hide applications or you can stick them all in one folder and hide just that folder

[Q] SOLVED-Apps not gone after flash?!

Ever since I've started flashing ROMs, I've become accustomed to jumping on the market and re-installing all the apps that were deleted during the wipe process. No problem really, I like the idea of a fresh install. However, oddly enough, since flashing Ev1lArt's Wicked v7 and now his JB v3 Roms, the apps from the store persist. Third party apks are still in my downloads and I can re-install them, but the ones from the market instantly start downloading and updating once the phone is done booting up.
On one hand, I think it's fantastic! No more searching the store for all the apps I want.
On the other hand I'm concerned this is an indication of something gone wrong.
If anybody has any insight, I'd be very grateful. Thanks!
Edit: Another question/afterthought. When I went from Wicked v7 (ICS) to v3 (JB) I used Odin and the root66 tar for a clean JB install. I was under the impression partitions would be re-allocated during this process, but there was no PIT file and the instructions are very clear about which boxes to check (ie, don't check re-partition). Am I missing something? Are PIT files not necessary going from ICS to JB? Also interesting to note, when I booted up after ODIN, my apps, wallpapers, Nova Launcher setup etc were all still there. I thought the point of doing a fresh ODIN install was to get the phone to an "out of the box" condition.
Am I just a worry wort? Should I just be happy that some Android magic has saved me some hassle? Thanks again.
Google is supposed to back up what was on your phone and then red download it (restore) from the play store. Downloads always stay, unless you wipe it.
When you say "wipe it", do you mean wipe data/factory reset in recovery? Cuz I always do that.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
That doesn't wipe storage/sdcard. The folders you see when you plug into a computer. Uninstalling apps also doesn't delete those folders
On some roms when you flash on the locations setup screen it will ask if you want to restore your apps from google play...if you leave it checked it well immediately start downloading your apps based off your google account...
Googles backs your data up always when flashing a new rom fireup the play store and go throught the log in thingy there will be an option that you can tick it says "keep my phone backed up whit google" simply untick and voila... its no issue at all trust me

If you are a little paranoid and want a true clean install, wipe system in recovery before you install your preferred rom. The Google restore had been hit and miss for me over the years so I stopped checking the box and relied on titanium backup. Sounds like it is working better now.

Nexus 7 Flo 4.4.2 gapps failure

Gapps failure is the best way I can describe my problem. About a week ago my nexus 7 decided to reboot itself while I was in the middle of some gaming (asphalt 8 I think). I took it as just you know the system needed it and said whatever.
The next day some apps start having problems. Specifically Google play apps. Then all of a sudden my nexus reboots and starts boot looping on the 4 colored balls part of the boot animation and then keeps going Google then balls. Back and forth.
I used nexus toolkit (v1.8.0 I think) to reboot the device in adb then ended up reflashing stock because the problems persisted.
Now the device is not bootlooping but every few mins some app force closes or pops up saying jot responding. Or even 7-10 different popups...
Idk what to do now. Please help?
NOTE:
This nexus 7 was purchased around Christmas time at my local best buy. It has been unlocked and rooted. Only things I ever did was use titanium backup to restore some game data from my phone. Never did anything more than that! And I guessed maybe a virus (if there is any such thing on android) did this but kaspersky reports no malware of any kind.
Apps and processes that fail:
Google play
Play music
Play books
Play games
Play magazine
Google+
Gmail
Google currents
Play movies
Google search
Google keyboard
Google text to speech
I don't remember the processes that crash so when they do I will update you on what they are. Please help!

What I would recommend that you do is use the nexus root toolkit to install twrp recovery manager then boot into recovery manager and try clearing cache and everything but dont clear data and see if that helps.
If after you try that the problem still persists then boot into recovery manager and wipe everything....cache, Dalvik, and data.
By wiping data you will have removed your apps but they can easily be reinstalled with google play. You can use titanium backup to restore game data.
Oh and give this a try first...create a new gmail account and add that account under settings and see if that fixes anything. If under the new account you dont see any problems try switching back to your original account and see if the problems go away.
Hope it helps...

Thanks droidshadow for your response. Seeing how no one else commented this really must be an issue with my device. Not widely known. I attempted your solutions to no avail so I will be sending it to Asus. Hopefully they will give me a nice unit back that has no problems.

You did get TWRP on it? You could go all out with a custom ROM. In any case this looks like a simple enough issue to fix. Go to settings > apps > scroll right to all > now scroll down to Google Play Services, click on it and then clear cache. Now go down to Google Play and clear data, clear cache and then force stop. Ignore any misbehaving warning you may see. Now go open Google Play and re-register if asked. Let me know of if this helps.
What's going on should not require you to send it in. Worst case you do a complete factory reset with fastboot and not some tool.
Sent from my Nexus 7 Flo running Odex SinLess ROM 4.4.2 with ElementalX kernel using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Thank you for your tips. I actually did clear cashe and data on the services and even on other apps that randomly shut off. It temporarily fixed the issue for about an hour then all issues came back.
I have reset with nexus toolkit, I have factory reset while on the tablet. And I have also erased everything in the stock recovery.
It sounds like a simple issue but its not being resolved! I thought about just putting on cm11 or something but not sure if that would fix it considering these problems persist. Even with a different gmail account on it.
