Is it already working with new version on the note 2 and is it only for paranoid or also for rootbox or pac-rom(newest versions)
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

Not yet...

It's currently only available for officially supported devices (the nexuses and the oppo find 5 I think)
Until the source is released to legacy devices (like the note 2) we won't get it.
However someone has already ported it on the s3 and tilaksidduram has said he was trying to port it for the note 2 recently, do we may get it earlier.
In any case, it'll most probably be in a paranoid android rom before it's available in others such as rootbox.

Note II LTE and custom rom future?

Hello,
Since there is no custom rom for LTE, i was wondering what is the reason behind that. Are the firmware files for the N7105 device not available or is the source closed unlike N7100. I am currently looking to buy the LTE version, however if the custom rom wont come i will rather go for the N7100 version.
Cheers
PS: I have never owned an android device before and currently use the Nokia N900 (running maemo linux)
1) There is a stock, rooted, deoxed rom available.
2) Samsung have hindered asop development at every pass so support is low.
3) Touchwiz is VASTLY improvesd. No where near perfect but most people are happy.
4) The devs are busy working on the 7100 which is understandable so give them time.
5) The other idea is a patch to make n7100 work. (But it's looking like the changes are more than skin deep.)

You can always flash one.... If you're looking for an official release I would certainly say yes. How long remains unknown. The GSIII and Note2 are Samsung's flagship phones... and 2 of the best phones on the market. It will come, just a matter of how long.

Thanks for the advice acrually I don't wanna flash it will make my S pen useless. So , why did nexus devices got android 4.2.2 early ?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium HD app
Because the Nexus IS "the google phone" It's Google's very own. It's made by various companies depending on which one (previous "google" phones), but it's "vanilla" meaning it has no UI on top of it. Example: HTC phones have "Sense". Samsung has "Touch Wiz" It takes time for Samsung to implement their stuff on top of the new OS.
Ok ok thanks

The nexus will have 4.3 or 4.4 by the time Samsung gets around to getting a 4.2.2 rom out for the note 2 ... just the way it is .... Nexus is always ahead

You would be better suited to post in your phones forum. This is the sprint note 2 forums (sph-l900) and you're using the international variant (n7100)
I like to break stuff!

We'll get 4.2 TWiz ROMs when we get 4.2 TWiz ROMs. Which will be sometime, who knows when. A leaked GS3 4.2 build appeared in the wild today FWIW.
This phone runs awesome on the current version. I'm very content

Key lime pie.

I'm just wondering if the galaxy will get the new update in a couple months.. I know there using the 3.8 kernel and do not know if our phone will be compatible. I hope so cause I don't plan on a new phone until the next nexus device. However it may be that our phone will rest in peace with 4.x. Your thoughts?

There has been an armada of threads about this. Google updates the gNex for 2 years. Closed.

There is already KLP thread in this forum and in this 'general' section so I don't understand why to do new one thread..
Ofc. Nexus gets newer version ... It doesn't mean nexus can't get the update when some devices gets newer kernel....
And Iif for some reason nexus won't get android update then I'm sure there will be the new version as CM's build version or something like that...
Answer to the question is that Google promises 18 months of development for a nexus device, either way I'm sure developers will make it happen.

3.8 kernel is not essential, there are some screenshot where you can see kitkat running with 3.4 kernel. Yeah, we don't have 3.4...

I doubt it, I only see log entries for nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10 running 4.4 - Though now I am seeing slightly different builds i.e. KRT10F instead KRT10C
Nexus 7 4.4 KRT10F
Nexus 10 4.4 KRT13
Nexus 5 4.4 KRT10F
Nexus 4 (Svelte test mode) 4.4 KRT08C

in fact it's not suprise that our GN not receiving 4.4...but still feel a little bit disappointed when knowing that
My two cents...I would be very surprised if we don't get 4.4 officially. It is technically a minor version bump.

...Not as minor as 4.2 -> 4.3. UI drastically changed (not just the launcher) and they decided to make a universally available Launcher called Google Experience, so you see Google is determined to make KitKat a large step forward.
But yeah, based on this point (universal, unified experience) and Google's saying of "making the best experience for everyone", I can say that we're going to get KitKat in one way or another (I don't personally care if Google decides no official release, AOSP is always there). Plus, who said we need 3.4 or even 3.8 kernels to run it (any RELIABLE sources)? Many older devices run JB 4.1 and even 4.2 nicely with 2.6.xx kernels. Many 3.4, 3.8 and even 3.1x features are being backported too.

I'm surprised that you're this delusional, personally I'm planning to rollback to 4.1, the recent versions of android is just too choppy for my liking, ram management is horrible too.

Well, I have had nothing but a well-running Nexus on 4.3 for the last little while, so it really sucks to hear you're having problems. I appreciate a discussion here, but starting off a reply by calling someone "delusional" seems a bit rude and harsh, no?

Look i don't know about Linux Kernel, etc..
But i just saw that the 3.8 is officially discontinued.
3.4 is continued until October 2014.
So i think the next Kernel version for Android will be the 3.10 (long term: until September 2015) not 3.8.
By the way....a Nexus 5 with 3.10 kernel would be pretty nice. But it seem it will be 3.4.
Source
I remember when 3.0 was released (after the 2.6.39), Linus Torvalds said exactly this:
"So what are the big changes? NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. Sure, we have the usual two thirds driver
changes, and a lot of random fixes, but the point is that 3.0 is
*just* about renumbering, we are very much *not* doing a KDE-4 or a
Gnome-3 here. No breakage, no special scary new features, nothing at
all like that. We've been doing time-based releases for many years
now, this is in no way about features. If you want an excuse for the
renumbering, you really should look at the time-based one ("20 years")
instead."
I post that, only to say that sometimes numbers mean nothing..3.4 is a stable kernel, there isn't a big difference that you can see in the daily use with 3.10..really
Lets pray, for kitkat on our phone..!!!

I thought the new nexus an kitkat would have been launched by now, everything has gone quiet now an the hype has gone, iOS7 is keeping me amused for now, the kitkat screenshots look like google got a lot of their inspiration from apple an iOS7, just hope the nexus 5 is as good if not better than iPhone 5s.

They said that 4.4 will work on devices with 512mb of ram. And they said it will be available for older devices.
I think we'll get the update, even though it will be the last one...

[Q] which ROM is nearest to pure AOSP Kitkat ROM? (e975)

So I'm looking for a ROM with as little extra features and modifications as possible, since my girlfriend like the way my phone and tablet are set up* and has asked me to try and replicate it as close as possible on her phone.
What would be the nearest to this on the Optimus G?
* Stock Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 with Xposed and root.

Anyone?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Paranoid android? Reportedly featureless like a stock aosp. Haven't tried it yet though. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51405891
Cyanogenmod Definetly. Or Vanir AOSP.
Your first stop should be cyanogemod. But since, your girlfriend wants to set it up closest to tablet revisions, you should go for Paranoid Android. I havent seen official PA downloads for Optimus G but there are 4.2/4.4 based projects floating in dev
PA seems to have begun over from scratch, so this might be a good choice. Thanks!
