I have never had this much trouble with my S3 to get the gps to work. Its always within 1200m range and never at 10m like I'm use to. What can I do to get this problem fixed. I live in Canada.

Are you using Google maps?? If so clear the cache/data then restart the app should help. Was having that issue b4, and that fixed the problem..

tried it - same thing.
Well,
It's a drastic method, but it seems the galaxy series of phones is plagued with left overs in the hidden file structure.
We root and can see it, but if the devices are stock, that data sits and churns forever, causing what I believe to be, many of the device issues we can't explain.
I suggest a factory data reset, as this will reset "ALL" of the device sensors, and the data contained within the applications that use them.
It is a bit problematic to set up the device again, but if you backup any important info like e-mail etc. and do the wipe, it is pretty quick to set up again.
At least this method will tell you the condition of the sensors within the device.....g

For a while now I've been having some issues with my phone's Internet connection. I'd be in the same room the entire time and all of a sudden Internet is off for a few hours unless I reboot my phone or connect to wifi.
Even as I try to type this plea for help my Internet died on me and I had to restart my phone. Thankfully the xda app saves drafts.
I'm not sure if it's my phone's rom, an app, or whatever else. Any suggestions would what to do?

In recovery you can fix permissions under advanced in CwM

So just a general fix permissions setting? Not something like fix permissions for this app or something?

Yes, when you run fix permission in recovery it does everything. For the internet to 'just stop working,' that sounds like a network issue. I've known people on that rom for a good while and never stated that as an issue.
But the thing is the Internet isn't like this on my non rooted Samsung s3. So I feel like it's either my rom or an app gone crazy.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Try a new rom and see if that fixes the problem. Even reflash your rom. Wipe cache/dalvik/fix permissions. Go through all the motions and find out what works for you. I recommend going back to a stock rom to run updates (prl and stuff) and see if that fixes it. If all else fails try formating and start fresh.
My battery life has been significantly less since I have updated to Ma7. Running it stock, deoxded, and rooted. I've included screens shots

Looks like you got a wakelock, use better battery stats to see what's causing it. That almost solid blue bar in your 2nd screen shot shows way more awake time than what your screen on time is, awake almost 80% or so of your total uptime
I like to break stuff!
I'll give it a try and post back.
Thanks!

Could Google now location services, such as time to work cards, be causing pipe battery life?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
All that maps stuff will kill your battery, especially if you're inside where gps can't lock fast. I use autostarts to force maps to stay off unless I open them. And yes cards in google now do hit battery pretty hard as well.

Yes indeed.
The Google location services is a big user as well, but to turn it off or prevent it's autostart would hinder Google now, at least I would think so.
Good point on the media server. The battery life was better before this update, and I'm sure Google was still hogging battery life. So media server seems to be the problem... Possible.
Could one possible freeze certain apps to eliminate the drain from the media server?

Mediaserver drains battery fiercely due to a bad image file or video file......it keeps trying to read the file. The only fix that I found was to backup your sd card reformat it then add a folder at a time to make sure it doesnt get stuck scanning.

I've found that it is only the network based locating that causes this particular wakelock madness. Turn off network based location and maps behaves fine... Shame really as Google Now is coded to be broken unless Google knows what network your connected to.

I doubt it's any of my files. It never was a problem on LJC. And even now the problem is random. Comes and goes on different boots. I'm thinking maybe Samsung accounts might have to do something with it. A few days ago I noticed it updated a Samsung push service app on its own. That's why I use autostarts to disable everything unless I open it manually. Then you don't need to turn off the location services they just don't activate til YOU tell them too. They fully function just like normal only they only function when the app is in the foreground

Doing what? Disabling network-based locating, or using autostarts?
Google Now to fully function requires knowledge of what wifi network or cellular network you're connected to to...Shame really, and downright creepy.

Sometimes my phone has gotten wonky on time usually as a result of battery swaps. happened even prior to my rooting.
All i needed to do was toggle off/on the Auto time set feature and it resets as it should.
All most over slept one morning because I for got to check the time after a battery swap prior to going to bed. Phone is my main alarm clock.
Just go to settings then under system go to date and time and then set the time yourself.

Samsung has introduced a qualcomm time service that might be responsible for weird time behavior. I know on my phone it can be off by up to two minutes, so what I did was disable this from running. If you're rooted, you can either disable it in titanium/application settings/adb OR just remove the application from /system/app/TimeService.apk

There are no posts in here about it, so am I the only one with issues? Signal loses lock about every 5 seconds, and bounces me all over the place in Google maps, and Navigon. I'm completely stock. I downloaded a gps app, and it's locking on to 12 or so satellites.

Faster fix and top ntp do the same thing it changes the GPS server from a generic one to one to what part of the world you live in
Then use GPS status/GPS test to update agps. Bam good to go. As long as it's not a hardware problem

Same here. I also tried bending the "leaf contacts" on the phone so the antenna makes a good connection.
My phone can see 25 satellites but it can't get a GPS lock, any ideas?
I have had serious problems with GPS on custom ROM's (among other issues). They would show the satellites, but it worked like garbage.
I did a full wipe, and ODIN'd to stock, and it's been great ever since then.
Have you tried making a nandroid, and doing a factory reset and full wipe, to see if it works well after? That should allow you to rule out if it's hardware related or software.
