Scratch

Hi , I got a scratch in my nexus screen, is it possible to change just the outer glass? The LCD screen is intact.

You could, but to do it properly you'd have to find a way to separate your digitizer from the original broken glass and re-seal the new glass to the digitizer. This is extremely difficult and nearly impossible to do properly outside of a factory equipped with the proper equipment and it is far easier to simply buy a new digitizer assembly.
If it's just a scratch and not a crack, I would recommend simply putting a wet-application screen protector on the device. According to many posters around here, that typically covers scratches very well and protects from future scratches.

using a sheet of gorillaglass as a screen protector

hi i was wondering if you buy a galaxy note front glass only and apply some silicone glue to it can you use it as a screen protector here is a link http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-GT-...sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351699974&sr=8-1-spell
This probably won't work, they thin layer between the two sheets of gorilla glass will cause problems with registering your finger, especially if there is silicone in the way

You may want to look at the Spigen GLAS.t; same idea as what your talking about. It's chemically hardened glass, not gorilla glass, but it works fine over top of the regular screen. It does cost a bit more than what you linked to.

Exactly - Spigen or this other one (there was another one, cheaper). Right now your idea doesn't make sense. Using the front glass as a screen protector? What for? If I bought a front glass I would simply stop using screen protector altogether and just change my front glass for the one I bought when my original glass gets too damaged.

Just got my Glas.tr installed

I've seen a few posts for the spigen glas.t, but not much for the glas.tr for this phone, so I thought I would share my experience. I took the plunge and bought one recently. Let me preface this by saying that I hate, and I mean hate screen protectors, but I just got it installed and I must say this thing is awesome. I can't hardly tell the thing is on there, clarity is great, and it feels just like the screen. I'm using it with a poetic atmosphere case and they both work together perfectly (I actually hate cases too but this phone I am scared of :silly. The lip of the case comes almost right to the edge of the glass, and the rounded edges make it seem almost part of the design. I will say my first one had issues, as the edges didn't stick to the phone so it had bubbles around it, I took it off almost immediately. Amazon overnighted me a second one and that's the one I have on right now, it has no issues at all. So if anybody is interested I would totally recommend this thing, coming from a screen protector hater

Thanks for the pics. In #2, 5 & 7 It looks like the glass is not flush with the bottom or sides and has a gap. Wont you have issues with dust in those areas

The glass lies flat with the screen, but the round part of the rounded edges don't go all the way to the bottom, it created an edge part of the way down, so this edge catches a little dust.

I bought it through Amazon, contacted their customer service, and explained the issue with the first one. She said since the item listing said no exchanges, she told me to buy a new one with overnight shipping, she then removed the shipping charges, and gave me a label to return the other one. So essentially a free exchange, but in a roundabout way.
I've been wondering how these were, thanks!
Ive never used a glass screen protector before. What are the main benefits over something like a Zagg? Have you noticed any reduction in sensitivity for the screen or capacitive buttons?

you cant really compare this to Zagg. this screen protector feels exactly the same as no screen protector.
how is the responsivness of the screen with the OP tr. glass ?
(I see on the other topic with Mime tr. glass, the responsivness was a bit affected, so I'm curiuous about this one)

I haven't noticed a difference in sensitivity, sometimes it's a little weird to hit the rounded edge when you go for the home/back button. But everything works just as it did without the glass on.

Yeah there are a bunch of other glass screen protector threads, just do a quick search.
Either way though, that is the purpose of the protector. It cracks so your phone screen doesn't. Sounds like it did it's job.

I agree... I don't understand why some people are angry when a case or a screen protector is broken after a drop...
it dies to save your phone, be thankful

Breaking from a drop is definitely understandable, but chipping or cracking from being in your pocket with nothing else is pretty fragile. Definitely use a case with it, even the ones with rounded corners have been known to chip quite easily.

Question Testing other curved glass protectors on the 6pro

I have already tried a OnePlus 8 pro protector, but that protector is just ever so slightly too tall and not wide enough. It is 6.78" after all...
Does anybody have any ideas on what I can try next, so we can find a solution to this screen protector situation... I like the look of curved, but I absolutely hate the hassle it causes with screen protectors.
Does anybody have any suggestions... I'm willing to buy and try until we find one that works.
WHY put a protector over Gorilla Glass Victus?
I gave up screen protectors!

Because some of us like to use a protector, and the glass will eventually scratch... Especially the oleophobic coating. If you don't have anything constructive to add, then why bother. Go and be happy with your phone without a protector....

Bailed out on protectors back in the Oneplus 7T days and rapidly realized I was wasting my time with a protector. Never used one and my 8T and zero scratches over the last year. Hope the tech only gets better, so I for one see no reason for it. But.. This is an opinion.

Exactly! I'm tempted with every phone to add a screen protector but Gorilla Glass Victus is also said to surpass Gorilla Glass 6 in terms of durability. Corning states that Victus is two times more scratch-resistant than Gorilla Glass 6 and up to four times scratch-resistant than competitors.

I REALLY AM LOOKING FOR A GLASS SCREEN PROTECTOR, I PREFER THEM. SO WOULD YOU PLEASE STOP INTERUPTING THE THREAD WITH YOUR PREFERENCES.
I have 2 on the way, Super sheildz glass and a basic tpu from amazin. Considering how scratched even the glass protectors get, and I do not kick my phones around, I want to be able to sell it mint and You cannot do that if it doesn't have a case and screen on it from day one.
I get top buck for my phones because of that. Your MMV but it's a cheap investment. IntelliGlass has been sold and that was my fave so no screens from them and I'll be damned if I'll pay 40$ for one from Spigen even if it's the best, ill wait till it's half off.
There will be more entries into the market but it's limited right now. I'll post back on how it goes.
There seems to be a problem with the fingerprint reader not working when a glass screen protector is fitted, the one i fitted to my Pro was absolutely rubbish and pinged off so i didnt get to see the problem but the Spigen on i put on my wifes 6 means her fingerprint scanner doesn't work correctly now.

This. I don't see any scratches on my 2 year old 4 XL. Screen protectors were a pain in the ass to apply in the old days when the screens were flat. But now, not only the screen is curved as fuᴄk, but there's also that on-screen fingerprint reader that is already not great. Over my dead body am I dealing with the nightmare that would be a screen protector on this thing.

I get it bro... Is using the finger print unlock important to you? Every glass protector I've seen (on Amazon) the title either says "doesn't support finger print reader" or the reviews say that. Since your phone already has glass screen (please don't tell at me for saying that ) would you consider one of those plastic screen protectors? That's what I'm thinking about getting. Yes I'm answering your question.
Also you spelled interrupting wrong. You forgot the second R.
