Hi,
I have searched the forum, and google but am not getting a definitive answer to my query. Galaxy 4, runs on Kernel 3.4.
But, all the ROMs I have found for Desire HD till now have at max kernel 3.0.76.
So I am wondering if the kernel 3.4 is available for desire HD too to be flashed?
anybody? Is it because 3.4 has not been ported for Desire HD/Ace yet?
If I'm not mistaken the kernel depends on the device. While the
S4 may be running a 3.4 kernel it wouldn't be supported yet on our devices due to the hardware limitations. Don't quote me on it though I'm no expert

Just out of curiosity, is there a specific reason that you want a 3.4 kernel? Or is it just a 3.4 > 3.0 thing?

@bananagranola, I read that 3.4 has better memory management and performance

I see.
You see, kernel sources are hard to get a hold of from HTC, let alone an old device like our DHD, I'm sure its possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath for it

I have a simple question - is ROM RCMix HD better than Android Revolution HD 4.0 ?
Thx for reply.

From personal experience I would go for Android Revolution, however as said above, you can try both. Android Revolution makes it easy for overclocking and I personally found it much faster than most ROM's.

android revolution has a very good thing... the performance... and for my it is very very important... but i think that you can try various roms... test all and decide... all the people donĀ“t likes the same things!
I personally prefer RCMix just for the rotation being so easy. They both are excellent. Try them both.

Dude, I'm also using android revolution 4, but he to over clock the device? I had installed set CPU but the max jz stuck at 1024 MHz

On the Android Revolution Thread, read the FAQ below.
Oh ya, thanks, but after reading, I still din get what it means. ==, isn't Android revolution clocked at1.22 ghz?

The Froyo kernel of ARHD 3.5 allows overclocking to 1.22Ghz, but ARHD 4.0 is a Gingerbread ROM, for which HTC still has to release the Kernel source code.
Thus you cannot overclock with Gingerbread (Sense) ROMs.
Oh, thanks a lot dude.

As pretty much as said already try each rom for yourself, doesnt take do long to do just have to make sure you backup your valuables then test it for a day or 2 in order to build up your cache just to make sure your definitely seeing true performance
Also as stated android revolution is well known for its performance. I've tried both and definitely found android revolution HD 4.4 was very stable and very responsive.
Although I then made the switch to CoreDroid HD 5 ROMS and have personally preferred them because of the awesome visual tweaks which has been well balanced with performance.
It really comes down to what you prefer
I have used both. But RCmixHD 5.9.5 is the best gingerbread based sense Rom I have used so far. So go ahead and install it. Good Luck!!

you cannot overclock no gingerbread sense ROM so what are you people on about Android Revolution easy for overclocking?
its about your preference

thats the best thing to do, you might like other roms due to their features.
try both of them, just flash one of then give it 2 day trail and try the other one and decide
Mike's rom very suits me..
RCMIX HD has the most mods and tweeks. Plus its in rom manager. It suites me fine.

Ya, but jz the gingerbread version can't be oc. The 3.5 ver still cn be overclocked by flashing a customized kernel.
frm bert2662's DHD
I use rc but mikes roms are cool too. Try and enjoy. Thems the rules.

Which kernel is optimal for powersave and oc?
Tiamat 4.1.0 or ManU 2.0 Kernel?
for me cm7.1 kernel is most optimal, and miui of course.

ManU-Kernel is very good, but I recommend to test yourself (at least one week each, kernels need some time to stabilize themselves).
Thanks

Thanks for your advise. CM7.1 kernel is stable but the battery management is definitely not the best.
I made such comments because I had Nexus S as well and flashed -=NexusMV [1.11.30]=- Rom which overall performance is better than original CM rom.
Thanks!

I had tried Tiamat 4.1 kernel for more than a week. I have found the battery performance is slightly better than the original kernel from my MIUI rom but still not good enough...
I will try ManU kernel and see if this works better.
After the battery performance, I will try to OC a little bit.
Most recommend version of the ManU-kernel is the HAVS-AXI-CFS one.
Thanks again!

Besides, if Radio version is also an issue about battery live?
I am now using the latest one: Radio_bravo_32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23
Original HTC Sense Android 2.2 rom from HK: 32.47.00.32U_5.10.05.23
Never heard about it. IMHO radio should only be changed if their appears a problem which is radio (=hardware) connected. Battery life is not connected to hardware, but very strongly to the kernel one is using.

It is connected to the radio as well. Radio can be updated if the user has a wish to do so. The ril is the one which should be best left alone.
@op - make your mind. You asked a question about two things that are a contradiction one to another.

Good to know, thanks. As I said, never heard / read a radio update could change the battery life.
Im running MIUI AU and I find that the best kernel is the ManU 1.4 HAVS-AXI-CFS. I've tried both 1.4 and 2.0 but 1.4 seems to yeild the best results.
Hope this helps.
hi
flashed tonnes of roms for my desire - whats the benefit of chenging the kernel??
Potential for:
Better performance
Lower power usage
General overall efficiency
kernel
cheers!
im running mildwild cm3.3 - any recomendations for kernel?
i was thinking about ""2.6.35.13-ManU-2.1-GB-HAVS-AXI-128-CFS"" ??

For CM, dGB, Redux 1.2, thats definitely what I would go for, yep. Just have a good read of the firts post or so of that thread as lots of cool information about lowering voltages and stuff....
Thanks!

how does one know whick kernel is suited to which ROM then? Or is it just trial and error?
For me, it's trial and error....I don't understand the jargon

There's no better benefits than experimentation and readings. Read the threads that contain valuable information and u will gain knowledge. Knowledge will be implemented to your experiments and thus u will have a better kernel combination in your disposal.
Will The Droid Inc Ever Get a 3.0.X.X. Kernel?
Officially? Highly doubtful. That doesn't stop someone from porting it, though.

Official Is Over rated xDD.
I'm talking about a dev compiling a 3.0.X Kernel, it'll make everything else run smoother.

It wouldn't be worth the work. I have been told by a few kernel devs that it would create more problems.

The Droid 3 has kexec 3.0.8 Kernel.
We have an unlocked boot loader with 2.6.x.x. its kinda sad.
Then again this phone is 2 years old. But i just don't want to see this little device die.
A hybrid 2.6.38/3.0.x kernel might be possible, although it still wouldn't be a pure 3.0.x kernel. One of the problems is that we don't have 3.0.x kernel drivers for the HTC incredible.

Possibly. The jellybean interactive governor could improve performance with a small drop in battery life or you could just use the performance governor to help smooth things out. Newer version does not always mean better or faster especially with old devices.

Hey everyone, I've been searching for OC kernels(beyond 1.2), but sadly there don't seem to be any. I managed to find the doom kernel but that has long been depreciated, and that's the only kernel I could locate with GPU OC available. Anyway I was curious as to others know something I might not.

A few old kernels (pre-JB) were OCed to 1.3, but it proved to be very unstable in more than half of the devices. The 1.3 setting was never again introduced since the release of the 3.0 kernel.
