I somehow managed to brick my phone. Three button combo does not work. However Odin v1.87 sees my phone when i connect it to my pc. Also i hear that USB connection sound but nothing i have tried can get my phone into download mode. So in my case would a usb jig would work considering the phone is still not fully dead i believe ?
Odin sees your phone if it's bricked it wouldn't see it. How does it see it? You are only fully bricked if you got nothing period or computer reads phone as QHS_USB_ DOWNLOAD MODE. I bought a usb dongle for $ 5 at amazon. Works great just plug it in and 3 seconds you are in download mode so it's worth it to get one in case you need it. Try getting into download by turning off phone, while its off take out battery and hook phone up to computer. Now keep both volume up and down
pressed while you put battery back in. If you do it right you should get into download mode. As long as you can get the phone to boot at least the samsung logo it can be fixed.

My epic randomly started acting up last night. So i went to restart it an now it just sits at the samsung screen. I was gonna odin last night but i went to charge it 1st and it comes up to the screen with that battery and locks up there i am not even sure if it charged at it.. any advice? just worried it got no charge and will die during odin.
Just Odin without the battery in. The computer provides the power. With Odin up and the phone off plug in the USB cord and quickly hold the 1 key and power. Should go right into download mode.

Also, you don't even need the battery in to go into DL mode, if you remove battery and plug unit into your computer, it will still boot into DL mode with no battery in it. Good luck!

Neither my internal or external storage will mount via usb.
The card I have works fine in other devices, and can be read by my phone but won't show up on my computer. I was going to take it in to sprint but my phone also won't boot using my jig...
What do I do?
make sure you still have the mtp app, if not enable usb debugging.

Epic 4G Touch SGSII USB Charging Problem
I'm having the exact same problem. I was using an official MHL adapter for a few days and plug it in the next morning, and the phone tells me it's charging.
2 hours later only 2% battery charge was added and as soon as I unplugged it battery power started dropping drastically. 60 to 19 after 3 minutes of having screen on, ~2 hours idling.
I just got this phone about 2 weeks ago so least to say I'm kind of pissed that it's crapped out on me already.
It's not the cable (works fine on my old Galaxy S) it's not that battery (I can charge it fine in a separate battery charger) so I can only believe it to be the usb port itself.
The bad part is, I have a yellow triangle when I boot the phone, and the only instructions to get rid of the triangle involve ODIN and using the USB port.
I have TEP with Sprint but I'd like to just take this in to a Sprint Store and get an exchange for a working phone (Service and Repair). I've ordered a jig but I think it's a long shot to even get it to work.
PC cannot recognize phone. Windows 7 Says the usb device is damaged. SD doesn't mount. USB doesn't mount. The phone while in recovery doesn't mount.
The phone will say it's charging when there is not anything plugged into it.
The phone will not stay off with the battery in - It automatically boots.
The Home Dock will automatically pop up after pressing the HOME key
Outgoing calls are automatically switched to speaker phone (phone thinks it's on the dock)
Battery life seems horribly worse than normal, I suspect this usb problem is causing extra software to be ran (Maybe it's trying to output via MHL, eating my battery)
It just sucks. Cmon Samsung.
Worst case scenario: I gotta break the phone and pay 100% deductible to get a replacement under TEP (vs Free exchange via Service and Repair)

So i was in recovery mode and pulled the battery, now it will not even power up.
tried to hold up/down + power, nothing ... any pointers?

download mode? I dont think so. I'm getting no battery 'vibe', no nothing. I cannot power it up at all.
I only had clockwork installed (no root or rom) and performed a backup then i went to another screen where CW froze, pulled battery and now Its dead. Is there a PC program that i can access the oc from the back side?
I'm figuring that i wiped everything off the phone but if there is a way to access the recovery partition I would like to know!

lol, obviously!
Install Samsung kies, (this will insure you have the usb drivers)
have your usb connected to your computer but DISCONNECTED from your phone.
Take the battery out, make sure the phone is off.
replace battery, hold down the vol. up and down key at the same time.
while both buttons are pressed plug the usb cable into your computer.
This should get you into download mode, just choose to continue.
From here you can either use odin or kies to flash the complete firmware.

Yeah as soon as it happened I slapped myself for not having patience... I'm away on work right now so getting a replacement is not going to happen for a few days.
I'm going to try the warranty angle.

apparently there is a company that can JTAG it and basically rewrite to the phone. (hardware needed) I'm mailing it out today.
$80 with express return shipping and unlock.
if this works I will have them do the same for my G2x (apparently I'm good at hard bricking phones <F- I never had a problem before>)
Looks like you had a bad phone to begin with. Never heard of it freezing in cwm before. Just do a warranty exchange. They mail it next day. Then you can mail yours back. No need to do a replacement.
If it doesn't vibrate at all then yeah Hardbrick

ok, so i mailed it to mobiletechvideos.com... paid $20 to express ship it to them, they got it on Friday, fixed it, mailed it out the same day and express shipped it to my house ( i was gone on a trip) and so when i got home, went to my mailbox (today Saturday) and it was sitting there waiting for me.
keep in mind, this was from a solid true brick (would not even power up).

I had a restore state before i screwed up my phone and guess what, like new (old new) all apps and everything.
I had my phone rooted and on cyanogenmod nightlies. I woke up this morning and my phone won't turn on. When I do a battery pull it turns on, vibrates and goes dead, every time. I have tried to go into recovery and download mode and every time it vibrates will stay on for a second then dies. I have no idea what to do and I am freaking out!
Have you tried a jig?

I do not have one and do not know where to get one. If there is any way to get one fast that would be great because I don't have a backup phone. I am in college and my stuff is at home.
You need three 100k ohm resistors. Tie them in series. You will need to put them on pins 4 and 5 of the usb port of your phone. I don't know if you will need to hold down any buttons. I've never used mine on my S3, but heard that they work. You can search the forums. Once in DL mode, Odin away

Hey not really a noob, been flashing rooms since I had my vibrant. Flashing this morning ran into an issue. Was using Odin, said passed, disconnected my phone and its been completely unresponsive since. No charge no recovery, no download. I just think I'm doing something wrong, anyone have precise steps to check to see if it will enter download mode from this state so I can flash back to stock at least?
Feel free to move or link to a thread with the answer.
try removing your battery sim card and micro sd card for 5 min then then plug the wire back to phone while holding both volume buttons then put all your sim sd and battery back (OR JUST YOUR BATTERY IS FINE)and see if it reads it now ?
So the wire should be plugged in the wall or computer?
Still nothing. Just hoping I don't have to get rid of it
The wire should be plugged into the computer assuming you have all the Odin files you need to flash it back

If the phone is completely dead after unplugging in the middle of odin then the phone will most likely not boot up even after using a jig...the reason i say this is because the same thing happened to me and i tried the jig but nothing your best bet might be to claim the warranty if you still have it (usually lasts for 1 year or more if you have their plan) and act stupid when you go to tmobile...
