[Q] AT&T S3 won't boot! - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

I had my phone rooted and on cyanogenmod nightlies. I woke up this morning and my phone won't turn on. When I do a battery pull it turns on, vibrates and goes dead, every time. I have tried to go into recovery and download mode and every time it vibrates will stay on for a second then dies. I have no idea what to do and I am freaking out!

Have you tried a jig?

I do not have one and do not know where to get one. If there is any way to get one fast that would be great because I don't have a backup phone. I am in college and my stuff is at home.

You need three 100k ohm resistors. Tie them in series. You will need to put them on pins 4 and 5 of the usb port of your phone. I don't know if you will need to hold down any buttons. I've never used mine on my S3, but heard that they work. You can search the forums. Once in DL mode, Odin away

[Q] Epic 4g won't turn on

My Epic won't turn on in any way. I can't get into download mode, can't get into recovery, can't boot in a standard way either.
I was in the middle of trying to Odin back to stock, and it wouldn't finish the download mode. I tried to flash one of the EI22 tars on the forums here, and it wouldn't finish. I tried the standard stock EC05, and it wouldn't finish either. I had to pull the battery/cord multiple times. I tried with different ports on my PC, different times using Odin, everything. Nothing worked.
So at some point after all this, it refused to go into download mode. In fact, it refuses to do anything at all.
Anyone got any advice? I'm at wits end.
Take the battery off. Make sure no cords are connected to the phone. Keep the battery off for about 5mins. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. The put the battery back in and try booting into download mode.
Before u do any of these steps. What data cable are u using? The one that came with the phone, or another one?

What version of odin are u using? Try using a different version of odin.

Odin 1.85
Stock data cable.
Tried the battery out thing, but it didn't work.
Ok...so that u know, u can't use the stock data cable, its generic...u need a thicker cable , like a blackberry one. Not for to get ur phone back to life. On the back of ur phone with the battery cover off. There is a tiny whole, that's a reset button. With only the battery in the phone, place a paperclip in that hold and press it for 30 seconds. Then pull out the battery, then put battery back in. Try booting into download mode. See what that does

Lol the mythological hole is back!!!!! Just leave the battery out for a bit and hold the power button with the battery out for about 20 secs to get any left over charge out... with battery and sd card out hold down the power button and 1 key and plug into your computer while holding down and that should get you into download mode.... for future reference I have taken MANY epics (over 30) and there is NO BUTTON under that hole... no spot for a button at all... there is no hard reset and this is a myth... the people that have said they have gotten their phones back working after pressing this non existent button only got it back into download mode because they left their battery out long enough for it to reset itself... the "button" had nothing to do with it... disagree? Take your phone apart and take a pictue of the button... not the hole but the actual button... I guarantee you its not there!

Interesting... I have never done that form of a hard reset, but a friend of mine has. There is videos on this all over youtube on this. But if u there isn't, than I really can't argue with that. Since I have not done it myself.

Watch those videos and send me 1 where they take the phone apart and actually sow you the button... its not there trust me... that being said though, it is extremely hard to completely brick this phone... not impossible but damn near... almost everything you do to this phone it can be recovered if you follow the sticky in developement entitled how to recover from a soft brick or bring it back from the brink... go there and do everything it suggests... btw please search before posting a new thread as this is in a sticky and tons of other threads... please search first!

Is it really no good?

No what you want to do is leave the battery and sd card out and press and hold the power and 1 button and plug into your computer to get into download mode. The odin the ec05.tar with victory.pit and check repartition and reboot and you are good to go

Should have done this from the begining you take the battery and sdcard and plug in the phone to the computer using the computar as the power source and go into download works almost everytime unless you slid brick it. If this doesn't work go online and buy a download mode jig there like 8 bucks or you can find a tutorial to make one..... this will reset the odin counter ( I think) and jump you into download mode.

Guess what gentlemen, that method didn't work for me before. I had to literally keep the battery out for awhile and then place it back in. I will tell u why. U don't know how stable the power source is on a usb port. Take a cable and plug it into a camera or something, start wiggling it just a little..it will start to flicker (turn on and off)...reason being...wear and tear on the port. That's why I never state that method.. I say this to u with all respect given.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
And the port can send a micro-static charge through the cable and right to the phone.. (google it) u will see what I'm talking about.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I tried this to no avail either. I took the battery/sdcard out of the phone and left it for a minute, then held the power button down for 30 seconds or so... then I let that go and pressed and held 1 and power. Then I plugged in the USB cable. Nothing.
Tried plugging it in, then pressing 1 and power. Nothing still.
Phone still refuses to turn on. I'm going to leave it for an hour or two and give it some more time to discharge the capacitors, but I fear it may be bricked (something I thought pretty much impossible for an Epic 4G)

I have read that thread, however it mentions nothing about a phone that will not turn on.
When ur phone doesn't turn on, its bricked. That explains how to unbrick it. If ur phone won't turn on at all no matter what...u may have to take it to sprint for a relacement. That's ur last and final option.

For anyone, when your phone vibrates every 2 seconds while off and connected to a power source, unplug it, replug it and DON'T DO ANYTHING! Wait for the battery to charge up and it will boot itself.

I have a Galaxy S II (I727) that is just vibrating (after it dropped from a desk to the floor). I can see a hairline crack in the glass at the top right corner if you hold it at the right angle. Though the buttons all still click, it doesn't respond to any combination of buttons. The battery is fully charged and tested on a voltmeter. Connected to a power source with the battery out, it still just vibrates every second or two. The only way to stop the vibrating is pull the battery. It's out of warranty, so I'm up for trying anything. Help?

[q] help me please serious problem

So I've had a my Galaxy Nexus for some time now. I'm rooted and I was running AOKP with absolutely no issues what so ever.
Then out of the blue my phone wouldn't charge when it was turned on, so I had to power down to charge. When this finally stopped and I actually COULD charge while powered on, when I would disconnect from the wall outlet the phone would continue to display the bolt icon and say charging - an issue which I could never solve.
Then the next day the Power Button stopped responding all together and the screen would not power down because I have settings configured to keep the screen on whilst charging, and as the phone was under the illusion it was still charging this meant the screen would never turn off. Other than those two issues the rest of the phone worked perfectly.
But eventually constant powering of the screen whilst ACTUALLY off charge killed the battery. So, obviously, I plugged it in. And all I get is the white charging indicator of the large battery and the bolt inside, I cannot boot beyond this because of the irresponsive power button but the animation shows me that the battery is charging and I imagine it is full at this point.
Reading through some forums online for the past few days a reoccurring suggestion appeared to be unscrewing the back and checking the connections to the power button - but upon trying this I managed to get out 5 of the 6 screws and unfortunately failed and rounded the final one off.
I really need help you guys. My phone is my life and on it at the moment are lots of important files. Any suggestions are appreciated greatly.
I'm only worried to send the phone to either Samsung or my Carrier because it is rooted and because of the rounded screw, surely my warranty is voided now? and I can't unroot because the power button is dysfunctional. The only good thing I think is that the fact I see the charging indicator tells me that the phone is not bricked, but how can I get onto it without a power button?
I only need the phone booted up so that I can restore my data and at least attempt to unroot. HELP PLEASE HELP!
Try to boot into recovery by pressing the power bottom and both volume up and down. And try a fresh install of the ROM also try not using the keep screen on feature as it uses a lot of battery and takes longer to fully charge. And you can burn the screen with that feature turn on.

My power button isn't responding. All that happens is when I connect it to power I see the white charging indicator - tells me its not bricked - however, a couple of times I've help the power button trying to boot it and it boots into ODIN MODE but then where its says start and points to the power button, I press it and nothing. It's totally irresponsive about 99.99999% of the time:/
When ever you start having issues with a ROM it could be an app or a setting in the ROM features causing issues a fresh install can sometimes fix it. I would keep trying to see if you can boot in to the recovery and flash something. With one screw being mess with I can see Verizon charging you for a replacement unless you have the extended warranty. Which is still 100 $ to use. Good luck.

That would mean booting would it not? I have no power button:/ I just need the phone to boot, that's all. I can get some vital data from it then and send it back
If you can get it to be recognized by USB
adb reboot bootloader
From there follow the guides to get back to stock via fastboot once you get back stock
fastboot oem lock.
Then try warranty if your problems still exist.

I actually have the same problem. Running the blackice ROM. I absolutely love the ROM but i have to keep switching chargers and/or hoping it will charge. Had to take battery completely out and put it on one of those wall things. Have done a compete wipe and reinstall but didn't change. It's not charging when plugged in but it's not charging either. Just goes from discharging to not charging in the about phone stats..

If it boots into ODIN mode and you're _just_ pressing power, that means you probably have an error where it thinks your VOLUME DOWN button is being pressed, not the power button.
You have to do a battery pull to get out of ODIN mode, btw.
Let us know: what happens if you boot into ODIN, pull the battery, and then just boot up pressing power....
No one else sees the trend ?
All of the people having this issue are running AOKP (or a kang of it(blackice)).
Funny how that works eh ?

[Q] Would USB Jig Work in My Case?

I somehow managed to brick my phone. Three button combo does not work. However Odin v1.87 sees my phone when i connect it to my pc. Also i hear that USB connection sound but nothing i have tried can get my phone into download mode. So in my case would a usb jig would work considering the phone is still not fully dead i believe ?
Odin sees your phone if it's bricked it wouldn't see it. How does it see it? You are only fully bricked if you got nothing period or computer reads phone as QHS_USB_ DOWNLOAD MODE. I bought a usb dongle for $ 5 at amazon. Works great just plug it in and 3 seconds you are in download mode so it's worth it to get one in case you need it. Try getting into download by turning off phone, while its off take out battery and hook phone up to computer. Now keep both volume up and down
pressed while you put battery back in. If you do it right you should get into download mode. As long as you can get the phone to boot at least the samsung logo it can be fixed.

Galaxy S3 suddenly died

Hello Guys!
Yesterday my phone was low on battery after i talked to someone. I forgot to put it on charge and just left it there. I picked it up later and it wasn't turning on so I thought the battery is dead so i plugged in the charger but the red light didnt turn on. I put in my second battery which is charged but the phone is still not turning on. I tried download mode but nothing works. I plugged it into PC but the pc doesn't recognize it because its dead.
My phone fell before and digitizer broke which i replaced.
I was wondering what happened and what I can do.
My phone:
Galaxy S3 T-mobile SGH-T999 rooted running latest dandroid I've had it for 1 year and 4 months.
You can try the debrick thread.. But first try to just leave it plugged in for at least 15 minutes to see if there's still no signs of life

When i leave it on the charger the phone gets hot so the battery is charging but no light.
Is it seen in device manager? If it says QHSUSB_DLOAD you are hard bricked.
