Well I rooted my htc wildfire and overclocked it.
Everything seemed to work fine for a few months
and then...
I got a text message, and I responded to it, but I did also see that my battery was almost empty, then after responding, I putted my phone in my pocket, Then like 15 minutes later, I looked at my phone and it didn't do anything anymore, so I thought, my battery ran out, nothing to worry about then I got home, plugged in my phone... led didn't turn on... phone didn't charge. I was like damn, maybe my battery died? So I went outside to someone who also has a Wildfire and asked if I could try his battery, We switched batteries and my phone still didn't work
Does anyone know how i can fix this? my phone doesn't respond to ANYTHING I've tried
These symptoms are a bad omen.
Does it pick anything up plugging it into a computer?

Than that would be the first wildfire thats been bricked AFAIK
Maybe it's a hardware issue, something as motherboard or CPU or maybe the connector for the lcd screen has become loose
EDIT: Did your phoneshowany sign of intability before you put it in your pocket; was it hot?

lol, how can it be bricked if I used the root for a few months and didn't change anything to it for a while?
also @lcd poster
if it was my lcd, my led should still turn on when inserting the phone to a power connection
also I do also think it is something with my mainboard/cpu, i've read on the internet that i'm not the only one with a phone that just doesn't respond to anything anymore (wildfire) even others who hadn't rooted their phone got this issue, although they have garrantuee :s
sorry for my bad english

Rooted and overclocked, I don't think my warranty is still valid?
Yes your warranty is void. But, if you were on a Stock / Sense based ROM, you *may* be lucky and the service guys may not notice.

But maybe they won't start repairing it and give me just a new one, (since it's more expensive to repair the phone then to give me a new one i guess) and then they'll won't notice either?
also, if I do bring back my phone and they find out about it, will they charge me for the repairing costs? even if I don't want it to be repaired if it will cost me? (I already bought an iphone now, but sometimes i just want to experiment back with my android xd)
I really can't answer that mate. Policies vary widely across stores and nations. But, don't hold your breath for a new one, I think that case is extremely unlikely. I guess your best bet is to give them the phone, and have them contact yo regarding it's situation, repairs, and costs (if any) after their preliminary inspection / assessment. Only after their assessment, you give the go ahead to repair / replace (If free ).

HTC and Apple don't roll the same way.
Apple's products aren't even worth repairing, thus they don't bother doing that.
it might be an lcd problem this thing also happened to me...
I know quite a few friends of mine who had similar issues with other HTC devices and they just went to the shop and they were given new ones in a short time. usually guys at the customer service are ignorant and don't check for anything, even if in your situation it should be impossbile to know which rom you're mounting.
my advice is go there and have a brand new wildfire, nobody will discover it's without warranty
Mabye its static?
Once my brothers netbook had a static build up causing a problem i dunno if the same rules apply but try: take out battery -> hold power on for around 30secs, If that didnt work try getting into bootloader holding vol down and power on when your phones off
Hope my ideas worked and that your wildfires better
I have same problems
When i trying root my HTC device ... there are something wrong... so it can't boot after rooting.
I think that it was bricked.
How to unbrick HTC Wildfire? Pls, help me resolv this problem

Wait a few weeks before and enjoy it as is, you will loose your warranty so better be sure there are no defects, also we'll get the andoid 4.0.4 update soon and from what I have seen from custom roms it really is a big improvement
Yes you can do it on a Mac, it's just basic fastboot stuff.
I wouldn't do it straight away though, just to be sure your device doesn't need any warranty stuff.

I would advise not to root it so soon..I also sold sold my Galaxy Note n bought this beauty..the screen of Note was complete junk n was way too big for my liking..wasn't able make long calls due to its sheer size ..I miss the spen though..
N don't root your one x so soon ..first make sure that u don't have any hardware issues n enjoy it as it is for some time..see if any issue pops up in 15-20 days..if it's fine then u can root..coz as soon as u unlock your bootloader your warranty is gone..so wait n observe ..

Ok man thanks for the tip. I thought only if u install a custom ROM, the warranty is gone. Did not think unlocking bootloader will void it. Thanks!
Well, you don't unlock the bootloader unless you intend to tamper with it.

They(HTC) are damn sly about it. At HTCdev it says unlocking "may" void your warranty when what they really mean is it will void your warranty. Wait a few weeks or a month before unlocking.
I unlocked mine as soon as I got it. But the WiFi deathgrip showed up way later. Around a month and a half later. I haven't given it to HTC for repair yet as I'm in another country and sending it to repair from a HTC service center here sets me back by 35US$- Their charge to ship it to a International Service Center.
Your call it is to unlock or not Hf with your OneX.
Incredible to read how people have there opinion ready about HTC without having any
experience other then read from the board. It's so sad to read.

I agree I haven't given mine for repair yet so no idea if they will repair my unlocked phone.i.e No Experience as you call it. But I do have the experience of talking to them on the phone and contact via emails & I did mention a reason as to why I haven't given it for repair yet. A valid reason at that.
"Let me make it more clear then"
My HOX I got from the UAE and I'm in India right now. I can't avail my warranty here as its local but HTC offers an option to send my phone to an HTC International Service Center but they will charge for shipping $35. I sent this mail to them whining a little bit lol. HTC was nice enough to call me back. They mentioned the same thing about me sending it to a int. Service Center since its from UAE. I enquired about why they have to send it to a international service center and why can't it be done here itself and he replied saying that since my phone is from the UAE it has different software and hardware -_- I asked how long it would take for my phone to come back and he replied upto 30 days. I neither have that much time or money, so I'll wait till I go to the UAE later this month and give my phone.
You're the one who shouldn't have his judgement ready. Just because you have a perfect HOX doesn't mean everyone has a perfect one. I'm not the only person facing the WiFi Deathgrip either. So lets just call it quits here, I hope you get a better understanding of my situation.

Another point I'd like to add is that custom roms also have the 2.05 base which was leaked but hasn't been released yet. It has great performance and lots of fixes. It killed the overheating problem my HOX had. Some people find the colors messed up on the 2.05 roms but I don't.
Anyways great custom roms here thanks to the amazing devs around.

You can try talking the story nice and straight but I don't take it.
Just because you're on a trip and HTC offers you an option to send it to an international service center doesn't mean they must pay for the shipping cost isn't?
The shipping cost they are charging you are just regular international shipping cost you pay for an item, nothing fancy about it.
Reading what you're writing now HTC is not bad at all so I do not understand why you start
moaning about them without any experience.
About your last sentence, I don't have any judgement ready I'm just telling you what I think about it.
To my opinion it sucks what you are doing, it's as simple as that.
Be patient till your back from your travel, return your device to HTC and then judge,
and please don't start crying here again if HTC doesn't repair your device under warrentee because that's there right too, you unlocked the bootloader and agreed with the terms.
It's there expertise and you're just a regular customer, they have a lot more experience then you.
So fingers crossed they repair it for you.
Goodluck with it.

Hello
Just thought I would let concerned people know that the UK service centre have no problems repairing phones that have been unlocked. I sent mine in last week and they replaced the main board, even though the phone was unlocked and even had a custom rom installed. Spoke to the guy there and they stated they are happy to repair unlocked phones as long as its a genuine hardware fault.

Thanks for the input, I guess thats why their disclaimer says "May Void Warranty" :good:
Indeed so. Just quite refreshing that even the guys at the other end realise that flashing custom roms does not in any way make hardware fail.
Why did they change the board? What the problems? Battery drain? Screen flicker?
Thanks

Sent mine away on Thursday due to a faulty digitizer with a relocked bootloader and things seem to have went smoothly. Using their tracker my status today went from "in repair" then briefly to "repair complete" then back to "in repair". Now it's reverted back to the very first stage "request initiated". Not sure what's going on now, might have to give them a call.
The screen would not come on when you pressed the wake button, only the soft keys at the bottom. Funny old thing mine went from in repair right back to awaiting phone. Gave them a bell and they said it had already been picked up by UPS. Good service thats for sure.

HTC One X Service
Just wanted to add that I sent my 3 branded one x off to htc uk on thursday and got it back all fixed and working perfectly the following tuesday, Also my one x was unlocked and also had a custom rom on it as well and nothing was said and I was not charged for the service which was for a replacment screen due to the yellow patches issue. they even fitted a whole brand new digitiser as well into the bargain.
I am one happy customer and now my one x feels solid and has a perfect screen like it should have had in the first place lol

Hi !!
I have a huge problem with my HOX. I've had this for a while and tried two factory resets and I just dont know what to do anymore. I contacted HTC but they said the problem was probably due to an app that I installed. I dont agree so I used the phone today after a factory reset and no installed apps and after a while I got the same problems. Here is a video that sums it all up...........

Does anyone have a clue to whats wrong and is there a solution for it ???? I will contact HTC again and I want them to check out the phone because I just cannot use it anymore. Oh, and is anyone else having these problems and were they solved ???

Thank you for your reply. I have just seen at least 6 videos on youtube with the same problem and what I can tell from the comments........there are a lot of people with this problem. If you haven't rooted your phone, send it in for warranty...
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Have you rooted your hox ? If you have could be a bad app like htc say, what i would do is make a backup of your current rom dl a rom (viperjb) do a full system wipe flash the zip file then go into fastboot flash the boot.img & dont forget to fastboot erase cache. Then without installing apps see if the problem is still there if it isnt install your apps one by one test again if its there before installing any apps it is proberly a hardware fault so either send it back to your provider or htc. Hope this helps in some way.

Restore your HOX to the stock rom and relock the thing (lots of guides out there) and then contact HTC about your problem if it still exists. I've had good experiences with HTC warranty in the Netherlands (and yes, i was unlocked too). And with good I mean that they weren't whining about it being unlocked, their actual service was very bad..

Actually htc replaces anything for free if 1. Your boot loader is locked ( but in India might not figure it out they are dumb) 2.the damage is not personal (if u literally broke it after making ur HOV fall ) 3. Your phone is still in warranty period...
If u plan to submit phone to HTC revert to stock completely if possible...:fingers-crossed:

No actually ear phones are a part of the accessories ..i know they do such things with eraphones my friend had ordered a replace but he recieved his new earphones 2 months later ..that to when his father called the company and said that he'll sue them:laugh: .. but i don't think that any such thing should happen with ur handset ..i had called HTC once then they said that they'll first figure out whether it's a part of personal damage or not if it's not personal damage they'll fix it fr no cost.. I didn't even mention the word root...

JUST MAKE SURE YOU REVERT TO STOCK ROM THEY KNOW WHAT SENSE LOOKS LIKE AND THAT ONE V DOESNT WORK SO SMOOTH...
PLUS THEY RECOGNISE SUPERSU APP OR ANY OTHER SUPERUSER APP..
GOOD LUCK..:good:
if they are smart enough, you will get caught
If they boot into bootloader and see the Unlocked sign, bye bye warranty xD :silly:
if its costing me less than 100 bucks i ll do it otherwise i have to trick them some how
