IR app for ALL IR devices - One (M7) Themes and Apps

Just to wanted to say i discoverd this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.remotefairy2
Works like a charm! You lose the functianality of a tv-guide (I was not using that anyway) but I gained the ability to control a lot more devices. It costs some money but I cannot wait to control the beamer during a lecture at university
Only negative thing is that there is no option to manually learn the app any codes but it knows a lot by default so no big deal for now.

I have the app, and it does NOT work for me. At all. None of the codes worked for my LG TV or my Sony AV System, both of which are less than a year old. You also can't program the remote using a real remote like you can in the Sense TV app.

Is it compatible with Nikon DSLR??

Not yet, but I have read in the discription of the app that they are working to add support for DSLR cameras. And in a reaction to my review on the play store, they told me that they are working on adding the possibility to manually add codes. In any case, they are at least working on improving the app.

Expect it. The app was likely the first version so expect it to be buggy. Why I know? I tried searching for one yesterday on playstore and didn't find any at all.

The looks are great, but the price isn't. Way too much money for an app that some ways has less features then the One's Sense apk. Sorry the price of $10.00 lost me at the start. Then reading one of reviews of the lack of features. Not for me

when i see it right, there isn't even a demo version of it? Apart from the way too expensive price, this is a no go for me. I love to check first, if apps like those fit my needs before spending cash on them.

Nice lookin app but way to expensive!

Nice Find!

OP, do you mind checking ig it has pioneer TV and Harman Kardon receiver? $10 is a lot for an app that might not work.

I just checked it. Pioneer TV should work but no receiver from Harman Kardon is known in their database. Keep in mind though that I can only say that they have the codes in their database so it should work, I do not own a pioneer TV to test it. Hope this helps.

Make sure you are looking for the right app. There are 2 in the Play store, one for the HTC One & one for the Samsung S4.

Just checked the changelogs!
And guess what... 2 things gave me 2 different reactions.
1st is a wow great!
2nd is a What the heck??? Fail!
What's in this version:
- added ability to add new codes manually (S4 hardware cannot learn functions)
- better reporting mechanism for missing devices

[REQ] Evo Bluetooth compatibility with PS3

I found a few old (and dead) threads on the subject, but I wanted to start a new one now that there are a lot more Evo owners out there who may help keep this going. Feel free to bump this and maybe we can get some support from the devs by demonstrating this will be worth their while.
I have read that the phone was not loaded with a proper Bluetooth stack making the Evo incompatible with several Bluetooth devices out there; the PS3 being one of them. I don't know how accurate that is, or if there are more underlying issues which prevent my requests from being plausible. With that said, here is a list of things I would be interested in:
1) Instead of paying $20 for the Blu-Ray remote for the PS3, I'd rather pay for an app that can control the basic functions of the PS3's media player. Me, personally, I don't like using the PS3 controller for video playback AT ALL. Also, it'd be one less remote to have in the house if I can use my phone instead of Sony's remote.
2) Use my phone as a headset. I cannot stand having an earpiece or headphones on for longer than a few minutes. If I could just pair my phone to the PS3 with a speaker phone option during online gaming, that would be LOVELY.
3) The most obvious one is being able to use the phone as a keyboard instead of buying the keypad that attaches to the PS3 controller. I do have the keypad, but I would put it on eBay in a split second if I were able to do it with my phone.
I'm sure there are some other things people have thought of that would be handy. Feel free to PM me anything else you may want to be able to do and I will gladly add it to the OP. Hopefully there are enough people out there interested in this so as to warrant the devs taking the time to figure this out. Honestly, I do not have the time to maintain a bounty thread, and it is not my intention to start one. However, I will say that I will make a $50 donation to anyone who can get this to work, as that is how much the Blu-Ray remote and keypad cost me on eBay. I am confident that I will not be the only one who donates, but again, this is not a bounty thread and will not be treated as such. If you say you will donate and one of the devs comes through, please keep your word and make your donation.
Mods: My apologies if anything I posted here is outside of the guidelines of this forum; feel free to call me out on any changes I should make.
Thanks in advance to all the devs, mods and forum members for your support on this.

Our phones can already work as remotes for certain applications, which leads me to believe it can be done by someone with the knowledge and (more importantly) the drive. With apps like Gmote 2.0 already on the market, I don't see why not. I have a Samsung Bluetooth ear piece that pairs to my PS3, and it is 2-3 years old, at least. Why can't the phone do it?
Maybe an app isn't even necessary. Maybe it can be a flashable file that just adds Bluetooth info to whatever is on the phone.
I'm pretty sure this is possible. +1
Devs will correct me if I am wrong.
I love this idea. Id throw in 20 if its workable.
And another twenty if I could use my phone as a tv remote.

Sideloading a game sounds like the game is being pirated. There is no supported method to buy a game then sideload it in the WP7 marketplace.
The only way that this is possably legal is if the OP paid for the game, then sideloaded it but, even then it's questionable.
As I am wondering how this works, it's stil a questionable in a legal aspect, so I will not continue the discussion.
Personally, this promotes piracy (with the DFT rom you can still get achivements off downloaded Xbox live games) and this thread should be closed...if not deleted.

In fact, the payment system records what games you have bought all through. Once you would like to install it again (on same Live account), they will ask you if you would like to installed it again now as you have already paid for that.
I haven't met the double payment for the same app so far.
Even pressing "buy" still doesn't mean you have already bought and paid, instead they will ask you if you really want to pay as there is no refund for it. You may have a try.

That still is not an excuse to pirate. Most banks offer pre-paid creditcard options for this type of stuff.
Now days if you open any checking account (at least in the US) you expect to get a debit card with a Visa/Mastercard logo on it.
As I 100% agree with you, everyone thought, Xbox live=Xbox points before WP7 came out. I would like the option myself but, it should not make you pirate.
If you can afford the collection of phones that you have had or have, I am sure you can afford a $2-5 game or app here and there. If you can not, sell your smart phone and go buy a fip phone. You should not be here in the first place.

Request the GameKlip for the Captivate Glide

Ok my dear fellow users, here´s the thing, since the guys from Game Gripper aren't interest in adapting their product to our devices, I figured out it's time for a different approach, this, is the GameKlip:
This is what I've send to the guy who made this little piece of magic:
Hi, my name is Santiago Console, I’m a Captivate Glide user and an active participant of the XDA Forum dedicated to the development for this phone. A few month’s back, we gathered a bunch of request, from people who were trying to make this guys:
http://www.game-gripper.com/
Adapt their product to our phone, for some reason, they didn’t bother, even after we gather more people than the D3 Community, and that guys ended up getting it. That aside, will you be interested in adapting the GameKlip to our phone ? I can assure you, that, at least, you will sell 30 units, right after you set up the pre-order J
To know the dimensions and the shape of our phone, you can look into this page:
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i927_captivate_glide-4071.php
Thanks, and I hope you can make this happen
END OF THE E-MAIL
He answered that if get's enough requests, he will make a GameKlip for the Glide and, come on, there's a lot of pros about this thing:
1) If you already have a PS3 Controller, you don't have to spend a lot of cash to play like a real Gamer on your device.
2) You can take advantage of the Glide's OTG functionality.
3) It's only a "Clip", so it's not like it's going to broke, get lost, or anything XD
So, the idea it's the same as with the GameGripper request before, so, please, If you have some time, and want to have this "Clip" available for the Glide, take a few minutes, and write an E-Mail to the creator, and tell hin that, If he makes it, you will buy it. His E-Mail is [email protected]
You can learn more about the GameKlip here:
http://thegameklip.com/
Thanks for letting me know about this, filled out a request.
What happens if you try to purchase the "Phone Only" on the Rogers web site?

After putting in your credit card #, can you have it sent to Argentina?
I filled out a form as well. It would be great to have this accessory for the phone.

I was thinking about this, maybe I can even make Rogers send it to my courrier on the US, it's there any custom taxes for sending something from Canada to US ? Because if it is, then, I would just make my courrier pick it up directly from Rogers, it would be a little more expensive, but, safest as well.
And, about the thread, keep going, Game Gripper for the Glide it's possible, we just have to make sure that people over GG know that there's a lot of customers willing to pay for this device.
I like the iControlPad personally, it has 2 analog sticks that are great to use, but will request this for you guys anyways!

Done! How many submissions are they supposed to get before they consider doing it?
Maybe it's time to face the reality, we are not going to get the Game Gripper for the Glide, also, with MOGA around the corner, I would discourage anyone who's considering to buy the iControlPad, because, no mather how expensive the MOGA could be, It can't be very far from the iControlPad's price, also, it has better materials, and support from the big fishes like EA and Gameloft.
Farewell Game Gripper, you had your chance, and you lost it.

We need an NFC revolution!

Hey all!
I love NFC, just as much as you - seeing as you're reading this in the NFC section, I assume you use NFC regularly. I think it'll be fantastic when it's main stream, however for it to become a truly mainstream it needs more data type. just like you get vCards, URL's, SMS's etc - I think we need more help from Google, Microsoft and all the hardware vendors - along with the NFC forum itself - to help extend NFC's capabilities.
Sure we on XDA know how to extend it's abilities - either by hacking it or knowing which app lets you do a certain additional function. Unfortunately normal members of the public won't know about the XDA way or about the apps. For example the problem is you can write an NFC tag to connect to a a device to a particular wifi network, however you need the app that wrote the tag or another app that understands what to do with the tag for it to work. Now the problem is that your guests probably won't have the app installed, so you'll have to connect them manually or download the app over 2G/3G/4G and depending on network strength - just like my area - could take a long time!
What came first, the chicken or the egg? What came first the wifi or the adoption of more standard / capabilities, across OS's / vendors ?
There are plenty more examples, but this is the most useful and self explanatory I can think of.
Please, please, please read my blog post about this and if you so wish, sign the petition, message the NFC Forum telling them to get their butt's into gear - message Google and the Android dev's do what you can to make NFC better and help it's adoption :good:

As much as it pains me to say it...we need Apple to implement native NFC support in iOS. I was really excited to see Passbook (or whatever its called) and was nearly positive this meant NFC support for the iPhone 5. Unfortunately, not this go round. It's ok though, wait a couple iterations of iOS/iPhone and NFC will finally be deemed acceptable for the public...magically...revolutionarily.
I know, and I think why the heck should we wait? Apple might only bring NFC with the iPhone 7. What's the harm in trying to change it now?

Yeah, they need something the can control - they need to devise a way to make money out of it otherwise it's not in their interest.
I know this is XDA Developers and we can make NFC do what we want, but we all have people in our lives who won't even use NFC because they don't know about it or know what it can do which is why I'd like us to make a change at the OS level on behalf of all of our non-technical friends and family. Let's get the big players like Google, Microsoft and anyone else that's already using NFC in their products to want to make a change - for Grandma
Lets be honest guys, the majority of people around us have iPhones, mainly 4s's. Imagine if all of them had NFC and we could all play nicely sharking playlists and sending phone numbers to eachother?

I agree - a revolution. Right now, when I mention NFC to most people they give me that "HUH???" expression. Then I have to explain what it is and then I have to give them examples of what it can do. Seems like almost no one knows what it is or has any idea all the cool things you can do with it.
What we need is a Samsung or Google or HTC to run a commercial that features people using NFC - with tags to automate stuff at home/work, with Google Wallet to pay for stuff, other things. Then the average person would be like "oh I know what that is - I saw it on a commercial"
Unfortunately right now it seems like it's just us tech geeks who know about it...

How much data can actually be transfered via NFC? I always thought the bandwidth for transfers was rather small, which is why most items transfered are under 144 bytes.
For larger transfers wouldn't using NFC for the handshake then Bluetooth for data transfers be better?

I have to admit I am one of those people who do not know about its capabilites. I know what it is and have it activated on my phone, but what can I do with it...I do not know besides I think you can tranfer pictures, phone numbers and stuff.
Can someone maybe explain it in more detail and tell us about its uses? Maybe I should have done a search about NFC (Near Field Communications) before I wrote this.
P.S. I wish more people would put the acronym meaning after the acronym, like I did above, in this forum...ooh that gives me an idea!! (light in head goes off!! lol)

I cannot tell you if there is a limit in filesize, but since the biggest NFC tags you can buy at the moment (afaik) are 8kb, anything beyond 1mb is most likely to take to long to be economic.

Taking control of portals and working with your faction to create mind fields is the goal, the Enlightened want to conform to a collective in mind control and the Resistance wants to rid the collective mind control for humanity.
The story can be found on line at: www.ingress.com but this thread is designed to assist on the basics, it would be unfair to favor one side over another as tactics of the game are only shared with the respective factions.
Do Not post personal information here, this game puts you in a real life proximity of other players and with that in mind it is easy for something to get personal in real life even though it was not intended.
This is a place to better understand the game itself and to collaborate for the community to learn everything involved.
I do not have any control over beta codes nor does anyone else in our community, don't ask and do not try to share your account or you will be banned, they do know everything you do in the game. Do not try to sell codes given to you by Ingress as they have been known to give out batch codes that are intended to be shared not profited from.

To get an invite you need to be creative, you go to your Google+ account and friend Ingress then create an image or anything supporting ingress in it and post it using these shouts.
@ingress
@ingressinvite
@inhressenlightened
@ingressresistance
Make sure it's publicly viewable so others can add comments to it and the better the idea the better your chances are, the ingress site email link isn't being watched but if you watch ingress on G+ you will see they release codes in batches try to time it in those posting times.

Great idea for a thread. I'm playing the game and I just love it. I'm sure I miss a lot of options though.
At least now I know how many android phones are in my neighborhood

There are a few really good features on the desktop as well, they keep adding stuff in though. The one I thought was cool was on the desktop login when your on the map if you go over to the right and you see the +/- to zoom in there's a little yellow image of a person if you go over it with the mouse it will lean over to the left. Drag and drop that little yellow guy and it will give you street view of the location your looking at.
Finally got my invite

If you sent in your email then they haven't even looked at those from the beginning but the best way is G+ and stay on them. I suggest getting an aftermarket battery (I bought a 4500 mAh battery online) your gonna need it.

I think this is a great thread. The OP was well written so as not to let this thread turn into a sided one, but rather general info for all for when it comes out of beta. I'll be watching this one for sure. I've been playing for a bit now as well.
There's also a Google community (G plus) called decode ingress that discusses ingress and daily pass codes that can be used to level up.

The codes are only good for a few seconds now, there's a plug-in you can download for chrome desktop that notifies you the second a code releases but it depends on how many people use it so you have to be quick about it. Go to chrome app store and search for the Ingress plugins, there's 2 of them but remember to go in settings and choose for notifications to be displayed in the top right corner. If you don't it will cover the area you have to type in the code.
There are a few places you can get info for the game, I just figured I would give the section a base location for XDA GS3 members to ask questiins and get answers that you don't have to go all over to find simple facts.

They were cool in the beginning because you got what you needed instead of hoping the farmed portals kick you back something. Now it's like pulling teeth to get anything from the portals and unless your one of those that enjoys decrypting code your kinda outta luck. Once in a while a code works but now that everyone gets the auto responses you'll be lucky to get a chance ti put ut in.

I've noticed more people reporting that they are having a hard time getting portal keys so I'm gonna post this trick I learned a few weeks back.
You go to a portal you already have a key to and need another for that portal, make sure your just out of range to hack the target and drop the key you have for that portal. Give it at least one minute for the server to register that you dropped the key then back out of ingress, turn on ingress again and you should see the portal and the key close together , now make sure the target circle only boarders the portal and NOT the key you dropped and hack the portal you should get a key. Once you get it retreave the key you dropped. Now you have a second key to give to someone else.
I've been able to get up to 5 keys on the same portal it doesn't always cough up a key the first time you try it but it will by the second attempt because you don't have one in your items. Good hunting.
