Does the ZL allow you to swap the SIM card without rebooting the phone? The Nexus 4 makes you reboot every time a SIM card is swapped.

Which phone does that??

I unlocked my ZL the other day and it had to be reset to pick up a signal off the Telus SIM.. On the bright side, the boot time is much faster than any other phone I've played with

Sadly, the iPhone. It's probably the only thing that I like about it. Must be a Qualcomm thing with the Xperia Zs, the Nexus 4, and I bet the US version of the Galaxy S4 and the HTC One are the same.

I posted the same question on the HTC One forum, and someone said "No problem with hot-swap on the HTC One". Not sure what that means, I asked for clarification.

Hi everybody! My Note II is coming for me tomorrow, from England to Brazil, it is sim-unlocked.
But I have a (maybe a noob) doubt about updates - Via Kies or ODIN:
I am sure that the Big Baby Note II will receive the update to enable multi-windows coming directly from BTU - As the firmware I suppose will be BTU Unbranded.
But, after the update, it will still be sim-unlocked? And if it locks again, there's an safe method to sim-unlock again? Hypothetical speaking, if it locks again.
I never had an imported device, and here in Brazil all devices comes unlocked from factory - It's a Law.
Someone could, please, answer my doubts, or even indicate some safe method to unlock it - Hope I will not need this - Just in case, and as I didn't found any thread here talking about this subject.
Thanks!
If you bought an unlocked phone, it will be forever.
I've never heard of a carrier who forces a lock on your SIM free phone. That'd be wrong.
So don't worry.

are you happy with N7100?
before I had an Xperia x1 and loved the ability to use differents ROM's and, now I have an Iphone 4, but wishing to try the N7100 because of my bad eyes...
aslo, are you going to use another microcard?
thanks
Not sure I understand completely. But as my phone is SIM free, I have the liberty to use any SIM card.

So I have the DNA, but I really want to go back to my Nexus till development picks up. How do I go about doing that?
I know when I had the Droid Charge, they had to send me a new sim card when I changed phones. Can I just put the micro sim into the Nexus and it works like GSM? Poor does Verizon have some sort of stupid grip that you have to jump through loops for?
Please let me know! Thanks!

Actually you can switch devices from your Verizon account on your computer. I switch between the iPhone and nexus without a problem.

What I'm wondering is, will it kill my SIM card making me get a new one? I'm assuming you have the iPhone 4/4S, correct? If so, you don't have the dilemma I currently have. If you have the 5, that's a nano SIM which isn't able to be swapped back and forth between any device other than itself.

Are we sure about that? I just want to be completely clear whether or not that's true. I don't want to have to call and get a SIM card shipped to me resulting me without a phone. I'm on an Employee account so everything I do, it has to be done via telephone-o service.

Does the Verizon GNex use micro-SIM? The GSM one doesn't at least, it uses mini-SIM. (Of course, there are adapters to handle that.)

I'm just making sure because I really don't want to have to get a new SIM sent to me. Essentially, this post is a precaution for me.
I can confirm the whole thing with not being able to reactivate sims is done and over with. I too go between my iPhone and GalNex with no issues, just have to type in...well copy and paste the IMEI and SIM card number each time.

When I switched from my GS3 to a Gnex, I didn't even have to do anything on the website. I put in the new SIM, set up the phone, and it worked. Didn't even have to dial activation. When I went to check the website, the GS3 was gone and the Gnex was there. No need to do anything.
Can you give more details as to why you are switching back? I get that the dev is probably not existent, but I just remember drooling over that phone when it was announced, and am curious if it's really that bad running stock sense.

The Sim in the vzw nexus is responsible for both lte and CDMA. Swapping them in phones will let you switch devices.

Literally just a SIM swap on VZW when dealing with LTE phones, as easy as GSM now.
Like others have been saying, it's a simple SIM card swap. No need to do anything else. I've done this several times already.

Honestly, I miss AOSP so damn much. I hate having to deal with Sense. I just want to install AOSP and my own kernels with ease. With this phone, I have to wait and wait and wait for developers to even want to jump on it, and then I still have to play with ROMs that are developed on Sense to even get something close to AOSP.

Well strange thing happened. Received my SIM card replacement and when inserted in to the phone it asked me if want to install latest settings and services, so I hit yes and phone restarted and all my widgets were gone. Basically it somehow reverted to factory preset. Now, is it possible, that operator can "manage" the phone via SIM?

Don't think so. Phone is running perfect ( apart from crap battery =-O ) almost a year now. And running clean stock ROM.
Oh and btw, the pop up mentioned "setting and services" ,but didn't find any new service/option...

I'm thinking about getting the HTC One but I want to know what changes Verizon's made to the device. Hardware and software changes. I currently have the Galaxy Note II and I'm disgusted with what Verizon did to the phone. Removing the WiFi toggle and replacing it with an ongoing WiFi notification that can't be disabled, removing Blocking Mode, putting their ugly logo on the home button, and making completely unnecessary changes to UI.
nothing to the hardware i dont think.
the software is raped with verizon stuff, per usual.
nothing a little root wont take care of though.
its a great device .

Also rooting this phone is very easy
none
All Verizon's bloat can be wiped out with root and a custom ROM, and it is so easy to root. Just download rumrunner, find your build number, right click in a exe file and let it go.
Get the device, i've had it for 6 months and really like it.

Think again. VZW deleted the FM App, but even if you reinstall it, you'll find that they also disabled the ability to have the headphone cord act as an FM antenna.
Result: instead of listening to any FM station in your location at no charge, you can run up Verizon data usage by an app like TuneIn.
So to this day the most updated HTC one for Verizon has an unlockable bootloader and is root able? I have the galaxy s4 and am considering buying one off contract but only if it's not locked down like the Samsung s4 is.

The specs are so close it doesn't matter... The Samsung is slightly better on paper but lags sometimes with bloated touch wiz and I think it's locked down right now.
Yes us s4's on Verizon are locked down. But we get to play around with some Roms due to Safestrap recovery. Last question. Anyone know the off contract price of the One? Only one I can find is from release day.

No, keep your Sim cards or toss em.
No need to send to anyone, they will need their own.
No, keep it or trash it as Santod said.
Whenever a device is removed from Verizons system it flags the SIM card as unusable for 48 hours, sometimes burns it completely. So whoever buys your device needs to provide their own.
Thanks to both of you.
