Well strange thing happened. Received my SIM card replacement and when inserted in to the phone it asked me if want to install latest settings and services, so I hit yes and phone restarted and all my widgets were gone. Basically it somehow reverted to factory preset. Now, is it possible, that operator can "manage" the phone via SIM?

Don't think so. Phone is running perfect ( apart from crap battery =-O ) almost a year now. And running clean stock ROM.
Oh and btw, the pop up mentioned "setting and services" ,but didn't find any new service/option...

Just received my One X after sending it back for repair after flashing a bad rom and my phone would no longer charge.Just been returned to me today and they have relocked the bootloader.Unable to check if its the same phone I sent in for repair until I get the sim reactivated.
Check the IMEI, easiest way
Does it say 'Relocked' or 'Locked'?
All my packaging at home will do that tonight.
Did you had to pay any additional costs for repairing? Want to send mine for the wifi fault, but it's unlocked and rooted as well.

I think HTC can give you a new MOBO with your old IMIE
Just says locked where it used to say unlocked.

I contacted HTC told them HOX was now longer charging did not relock the bootloader but removed all roms and backups they arranged collection/return foc,but did have it 2 weeks.
Sounds like they replaced the mainboard, and you can check the IMEI without the SIM card. Just boot the phone and go to Settings>About phone>Phone Identity
Or call *#06#
At work until 6pm will check when I get home all packaging still at home.
IMEI number has changed but serial number is the same.Inserted sim card nothing, onto Vodafone website to try to activate it and has to go to a store just been to store tried several cards no joy.Called HTC collection arranged for tomorrow.Worse phone I have ever had, selling when I get it back.
Naughty HTC.... how could they do that ... ??? ... ???

The first repair they have changed the motherboard thats why they have changed the IMEI number,I have emailed them to say I want a replacement handset but they have not replied to this.
HTC 'dun goofed, they should've also kept the same IMEI.
I think this handset is now defective and believe I should be entitled to a replacement not repair after repair.
You can also Check the imei without having your Phone on, just Check the sim-tray

Lol, its a lost art!
Yesterday (in fact today, it was 1 am) I updated my ICJ AOKP ROM from 1.2 to 1.3 and also installed repacked Trip's ENRC2B kernel. I was playing around with phone for about an hour after this and then connected it to charger and went to sleep. I woke up at 11 am and noticed that my dear and beloved HTC is dead. I can't turn it off, I can't go into hboot, LED doesn't give any sign of life.
I will have to send my precious smartphone to HTC, right? Damn... How long will it last to repair?
Very, very sad

did you rooted it? because in that case HTC won't repair it very easly
I don't think they can tell if it's been rooted since it's completely dead.
I've heard they replace the motherboard no questions asked in a situation like this.

Does anybody else have an issue with their m8 where on occasion it gets stuck showing its charging after unplugging? It doesn't happen all the time , and a reboot fixes it, but I'm planning to send mine in. Just curious if mine is buggy or if it's a known issue. Happened when I originally purchased and continued after rooting/romming as well.

I never charge with my phone off so only with it on. Since a reboot fixes it I can't imagine it would mess up with it off though. I'll try it a couple of times just to see, I'm curious now

i would try
fastboot erase cache
and see if that helps. Sounds more software related.
I had the same problem on an htc one x, it doesn't happen occasionally but it was a problem with the software. try fastboot erase cache as thay guy said. hope it works
