Looking to get rid of one of my lines - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I've been wanting to get out of one of my lines, is there anyway I can do this without getting the etf?

Google is your friend.
Most folks won't give you ways here because it breaks the terms of usage rules on this site.
But, quite sure if you spent some quality time on google, bing, etc, you shall find the answer to what you are seeking.....

Thanks, much appreciated!

Yeah pay the ETF its only fair that you do you signed a contract that you agreed to. Why should sprint loose because you just don't want to pay your bill or the ETF. Now if you have horrible service and you get dropped calls all day than I wouldn't want to pay a ETF either but to just say you want to cheat your way out thats immoral. Thats just what I think. Not to offended anyone but right is right

This is EXACTLY the reason the XDA rule is in effect. Every case is different and the reason wasn't (exactly) specified and both opposing view points were listed right in Budde2's post.
Instead of having the community be your moral police and judge you, a simple rule of "thou shall not" is posted. Saves everyone.

Getting booted for roaming

I'm looking to switch to virgin mobile tomorrow. So I want to upload a custom prl to use verizons network and just start torrenting like crazy to get booted without charges or a etf. Any idea how long it'd take to get booted?

Most people are going to flame you for doing this as it eventually raises data costs and what not.

Several months.
With any luck by then Sprint will change the policies and charge you for every KB of abusage.
Just lock your phone in roaming, give it about 90 days, please don't ruin unlimited data for the rest of us. Thanks.
I was wondering the same. Thanks for creating the topic. Super Roam it is.

I didn't know you had to be a saint in order to be a Sprint customer. Why are people getting wedgies in their panties just because some have found a way to get out of a contract without having to pay an outrageous ETF. If it causes Sprint such huge losses, they would have patched that loop hole a long time ago by simply making that customer pay for the overage.
All it takes is for Sprint to add a condition to the contract where it states that if you abuse roaming, then the ETF will apply AND overage charges as well. But as long as Sprint opts to just cut the contract with no ETF charges, so be it. So many moralists in a forum dedicated to HACKING the very phones these carriers provide. Talk about hypocrisy.

Well I think as americans people are sadly trained to think like this. If there is a loop hope let's exploit it. I do think charging people for crazy roaming data would be a good thing. It does cost the company allot to pay for 15gb or what ever it is that people roam to get or of their contact. In the long run it will only hurt sprint customers. Could ruin unlimited data. But people are selfish and cheap and abuse things like this then complain that company's polices are tighter than a rebublicans a$$ hole. Great old americas screwing anything they can to get ahead.

But back on topic; if it's such a big deal for Sprint, this would have been addressed a long time ago by putting it in writing. I still don't think it's a huge deal as many forum moralists here try to make it look like.

Let's also get the numbers of all those who use the hotspot mod and tether for free so we can call Sprint on them, while you are at it. And we can also get Sprint to take a look at the thread showing how to force roam our phones to Verizon from this website. See where this is going? I'm paying 85-90 dollars for 50 to 100 kbps of unlimited data. 50% of the time it goes to roaming. I have to pay an extra 10 dollars for a smartphone plan, plus the unlimited data? Along with the worst 4g roll out I have ever seen. Yeah, I'm getting ripped off. So I'm not paying an outrageous etf of $350 to do something better than to waste my money.
Plus you all realize that when the LTE network rolls out, its a 9/10 chance its not going to be unlimited anymore

Have you considered, if you get banned the odds are you are going to be hit with the eta charge anyway? I don't know this for sure.. but sounds like it's very possible. A contract is a contract till someone breaches it first which in this case would be you. Argue your case to get them to make it right via discounts and other options. Trying to hack your phone and drive up data costs is something that everyone ends up paying for. Do what's right.

Is it against Xda rules to???

I recently decided I would like to ditch Verizon sooo I was wondering is it against the rules to discuss ways to get out of a contract without paying the ETF

I'm guessing if what you're planning to do to get out of the contract is illegal, then, yes, I would like to think that it's against this forum's rules. If not, I would think it's fair game.

I dropped TMobile a few years ago due to excessively bad service. After a 45ish minute phone call I managed to get out of paying the ETF, since I was cancelling due to the fact that I just simply couldn't use my phone.

If you have a serious complaint that warrants being removed from the contract without an ETF then bring that up with Verizon.
If you're trying to scam your way out of a contract then you should probably look elsewhere.
Or do what I do and never sign a contract. Ever.

Better yet...sell the phones that you kept and pay your fees. The only reason your bill is that high is because you have atleast 2 smart phones.

you work for sprint is that it sprint service sucks buddy and you will see one day when you need your phone the most
Why would you expect them to work with you? You broke the contract, you KNEW there were fees attached to breaking the contract.
There's dozens of ways to get out of the contract without paying a dime, but you chose the FEE route and you expect them to work with you?
You owe them $, they want their $, what else is there? If you want to fight with them, easier to take it to small claims court, which, you will probably still lose and have court fees at the same time.
Your alternative is "don't pay", and you'll screw up your credit after it goes to collections and you probably won't have to worry about cell phone bills any longer because most other providers won't touch you after they see you defaulted on another carrier.

Yeah here's a suggestion:
Learn to read and write beyond a sixth grade reading level. If you could read and comprehend words clearly typed out on that piece of paper commonly referred to as a contract and/or Terms of Service that you got when you signed up for your service, you would come to understand that if you decided to cancel your contract you would owe sprint an early termination fee for up to $350 per phone, plus any outstanding balance tied to your account.
If you could read the posting rules for the general section of the Samsung Epic 4g Touch forum, you would understand that this isn't the place to talk about contract issues, sprint customer services issues, or billing issues. Nobody cares. Take it someplace else.
Also, learn to articulate, whether you post on this forum or any other. Watch me. I am virtually rolling my eyes at your atrocious spelling and grammar.

Don't work for Sprint, sorry.
I have had Sprint for over 10 years in the St. Louis area and never had any issues at all with them. I am sorry that you had a bad experience with them and I wish you the best of luck with another carrier but once again, you signed the contract and then cancelled. You cancelled for a reason (not sure what, you didn't enlighten us) but you still cancelled. If Sprint wasn't holding up their end of the bargain, you could have called numerous times complaining and opening tickets with them and probably could have gotten out of your contract ETF free, but from what I am suspecting, you didn't make the effort to do this so you are stuck.
Once again, good luck with whatever carrier you go with and have fun paying those ETFs.

WTF...Sprint??? No Deals??

So, I'm not sure that I should be blaming Sprint or not on this one, but as far as I can see, someone has to be blamed. I am currently running with my good ol' GS1...Yes, the OG Galaxy S1 (Epic) on Sprint. I am all set to upgrade and have been waiting patiently for Black Friday.
SOOO... I have been checking the leaked ads as well as checking with stores, connections, forums, whatever....and everyone (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon) is giving away their GSIII phones on black friday through a bunch of different retailers (Sams, T-Mobile site, Wal-Mart, Radio Shack).....all except for Sprint!
Yes...I have seen it as low as $49 in Best Buy (Allegedly, after waiting in line for 5 hours), but why not Free??? I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it, but sh!t, Sprint....not for nothing, but I don't even have a good argument for you anymore.
I used to brag to my friends about the unlimited data that I had...at less of a cost than their 'Throttled' T-Mobile data, but my 'Full Speed' downloads are slower than their throttled speeds. I think should be doing everything they can to increase their customer load...since in the past 4 years, their service has gone to crap. I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years and right now I wish I didn't have other family members on the plan that were tied to contracts. They are the only thing keeping me with Sprint right now.
Ok...Off my Rant box..............
Anyone else have anything to say? Did I miss the invitation to the 'FREE' party? Should I not be *****ing about this? As far as I know, you all probably didn't get a free phone either, so I am sorry if I sound a little...*****y. I guess my question would be....Why stay with Sprint? (Maybe just looking for a little reassurance)
Sprints customer service ratings are pretty good. We have better cheaper plans. You could go get the free phone and pay more for less but you probably won't or you wouldn't still be on the og epic. Pay the 50 bucks and lose the entitlement so we can keep our data unlimited. Seems like a small price to pay.

Ya but $0.96 is a bigger steal. And only thing they really have to keep their customer base is a promise of awesome 4g ln the coming months. Question is, is that enuf for u to Stay? All while you pay for a premium data add on for 1x type speed. If tmo had the uncapped unltd data in june u better believe I'd be with them instead right now. I get where the op is comin from. Granted sprint may still come out with something nice for black Friday considering the value of this phone seems to be plummeting thanks to the note ii
My .2 cents

I sent an update reply. I did see that they had it for $.96. I'm not greedy or feel entitled. I was simply wondering why every other carrier had it for $.96. Why is that so out of line? Would anyone willingly pay $50 more for the EXACT same device just so they wouldn't have a feeling of entitlement or so that they could say that they weren't complaining?
well part of the problem is that we live in a very selfish society if we can't have something we get upset if anybody else can get it so for example if you paid 100 dollars you might be annoyed at anyone else getting it for 50 dollars so you would complain about their position or claim there entitled because they are potentially getting a better deal than or desiring a better dealg or if you would want to get that better deal you wouldn't be complaining that your part of the nature of human beings
you also see a little bit of if I can't have it neither should you mentality
our society is based around on getting the most you can at least you can and we massively overpay for cellular service in this country so we tend to look for the best deal we can get
this further create animosity when someone else manages to get a better deal than you did so we complain about it
Is normal and natural don't let it bother you

That's not how XDA does things, that's no fun. Plus I'm a single parent who lost his job due to the pandemic so I don't have just $700 to throw down.
XDA doesn't condone theft of services as best I can tell.
Even if you did unlock it the carrier could still blacklist it.
Perhaps you could refinance it through your current carrier.
Talk to their retention dept.
There's absolutely NO possible way to perpetrate "theft of service" with a wireless carrier so don't go there. It's very simple. If you don't pay your bill what happens? They disconnect your service until you pay your bill. Therefore they don't allow people to steal service from them. Impossible. As for the devices bought on flex lease, etc. They technically belong to the carrier until you complete the lease and pay the phone off. If you don't pay off the device what happens? They simply blacklist the IMEID and report your delinquent account to the credit beureas and if enough time goes by they will sell your delinquent account to third party collections companies. 5he cost of phones don't warrant the cost of court filing and attorney fees in order to try to physically reclaim devices from account holders who went into collections due to non-payment. No need to preach to people espif you don't know what you're talking about.
OP there are websites out there that can SIM unlock your Samsung for a fee. If you SIM unlock the phone and activate it BEFORE your Sprint account were to go to collections, it will continue to work on another carrier. Im not assuming you have no intentions of paying your bill I'm just letting you know. No matter what, its not theft of service. It could only be theft of property in the eyes of the law. But that never happens.
Wrong terminology on my part, my bad, but your plan tx_dbs_tx doesn't sound that great.
Be best to find a way to minimize the damage to the OP's credit.

Again I would talk to the retaintion dept at Sprint. Most carriers have them. Their sole purpose is to retain customers.

Wrong, XDA is not about circumventing legal stuff, and, any way you see it, a debt is a debt, you have to pay, no way around it, things we all use/buy, must be paid in full, you say you are a single parent, so, better try to be a reponsible one, one that pays his debts and doesn't look for ways to avoid being responsible

Nobody's talking about avoiding my debt here... I'm not getting rid of my Sprint account, especially while I'm working on my credit.
Paid unlock link removed!!

What is your reason(s) to have it unlocked?
If you don't want coverage by Sprint the best solution be to get another carrier to take over the contract as per the link I posted.
Not sure how well that will work... exploring those options might yield a good outcome.
If you've really gotten behind and are paying off old debts with little or no emergency money... talk with a good bankruptcy lawyer. It's more complicated then it was 20 years ago but within 3 or so years you be debt free and be able to easily rebuild your credit.

I live in the mountains, where I travel around here I'll only have the option to use one provider and not the other and vice versa in places.

Explain that to the retainment team and see what they can do. The squeaky wheel gets the grease; keep calling and/or escalating your case until you get someone that helps you.
At times it's taken me 30+ calls to get things straight with corporation's.
Only persistent is omnipotent...
A signal booster/external antenna is another potential option for you if some signal is present.
