[q] new hox rom - HTC One X

Hello.
After some time, decided to root and flash custom rom to my device. The problem i have is can not decide which one to flash, because there are a ton of them. I could try every, but do not have time for that, using HOX every day for work, so i need it to be well-functioning.
So maybe someone who is invovled in HOX XDA android development more than me suggest which ROM should i choose? Mostly i use the device for navigation and stuff that internet connection is involved. HTC Sense is not the case, most of the time i use other launcher. I prefer best balance between connectivity, speed and battery life.
Thank you for your time.

U can try blade elite with xm kernel. Is working for me great

Best rom for battery life?

I have been searching the web for the hands down best rom for htc one x concerning battery life. It really does not matter what the pros/cons are with the rom, all that matters is that the battery life is the best. So what rom & kernel should i go for?
My research have shown that the clean rom is probably the best for battery life, but i have the INTERNATIONAL version, not the at&t.:silly:
I've seen many people achieving good battery times with sense ROMs such as ARHD. I personally use IceColdJelly by LordClockan with n3o kernel, have undervolted by 125mv and I'm quiet happy. Yesterday I achieved 18h of total up time, of which 5 hours screen on time, brightness less than 20%, 3g always on, manual sync.

Im running ARHD right now, but im not sure what kernel i have. I have downloaded a kernel and im not sure how to install it. Do i just go into fastboot and flash the boot.img from the command prompt?

Are you sure? That sounds like a light answer, because i am willing to install the most lightweight slimmest rom in the universe if it had the best battery life.

Just look around forum, there are a lot of noob friendly guides. Basically yes, you flash boot.img in fastboot, then flash modules(zip file in which you find boot.img) in recovery. Sometimes you need to repack kernel for it to work. http://nibble.cc/repack

i am using ARHD now and i quite like this Rom and i won't change it.. but i noticed that, while on idle (screen off) i got an increased battery time.. but while using it i get less battery time.. with my normal usage i was able to get 1,5 or 2 days, now i struggle to get a full 24h..

SURE. Please check the replies and this sentence "Proudly presenting you the most popular ROM for HTC One X..." For me the best rom ever made :good: link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603
I've tried a few. I'm using ViperX 2.1.0 at the moment which is the ROM I am sticking with.
But I'd say the best for battery was ARHD.
I try many roms and all have about the same battery live,
it all depends how you use the device.
Try Renovate..best ever
I've tried several roms and kernels, and I absolutely swear by football's maximus roms. The current one with its stock kernel is the most perfect hox experience I've had so far. Currently on 68% battery after a full day, listened to some music, done facebook and whatnot, I have had data off for big chunks of the day, tho that's only because I'm in a weird signal area. On WiFi I leave it on and it seems to idle indefinitely.
try viperx
Actually try them all. Battery use is dependent on personal preference. Some could get good battery on one rom while others can not 'cause the use pattern is different and each rom reacts different on that pattern.
One Maximus and ARHD are probably going to be the right direction.
The best way is to try some different roms and i've experienced that the sense-roms have better battery-life than the jelly-ones
I'm pretty interested in this thread. :good:
I'm a big believer, that regardless of spec an functionality, if your battery sucks, its game over whatever the device.
I've tried:
Stock 4.0 Sense - Rubbish battery, and launcher IMHO
CM10 Beta - I love JB, but could see the battery trickle away as I held it. No way its a daily ROM
ARHD, 4.1 no-sense, GO Launcher - Better, but still caught out frequently. Plus, not all of Sense is removed regardless of the 'No-Sense' install
I'd be interested to know if Paranoid Android (most complete JB rom by the looks) returns decent battery? I missed the opportunity to download the ICS version.
Its a shame that the battery is the achilles heel in this device....
Stock. Had nothing but poor battery since I rooted and flashed a custom rom and I've tried a few different kernels and roms.

@Op, in hours, days..... or years?

[Q] What custom ROM to choose?

So here I am, ready to root and all read up on the procedures and methods on how to root and so on, yet, one question remains;
What ROM do I choose?
I've been looking at various options, such as ARHD and CM10 nightly but even with all the reading of both presentations for popular ROM's and the threads themselves with feedback and so on from users, I still cannot decide which one to use, so I thought I'd reach out to the community!
I've got a list of certain requirements/desired software, but first I got to ask another question, with the official HTC JB update hiding just behind the next creek for me, with it quite possibly arriving next week for my area and type of phone, is it worth waiting until developers dissect it and take out the good parts and throwing the bad ones away and then merge it into their own creations?
Either way there are some requirements/wishes I have, such as;
Jellybean (4.1.1 or 4.1.2, but 4.1.2 is of course, prefered)
No bloat (I despise bloat)
Good Performance, I don't mind tweaks and optimizations, I'm all for it.
Better battery life, when the phone isn't in use, I realize that using more power through performance enhancements is paradoxal to this, so if good battery life when idle isn't at all possible with better performance, do tell!
Multilanguage (English language, but I need Swedish keyboard)
Flash support would be good, but it's not required. As far as I understood, they removed this in JB, but if I'm wrong, do tell!
I am indifferent to a sleek, non bloated version of Sense 4+, but with a new version of Sense coming in the JB update, this might not be optimal and the stock Android UI might be a better choice then.
Some of my friends in other circles recommended ASOP/ASOP K based ROM's, any comments on these?
This is pretty much it, if you got good suggestions or comments, please do tell!
Well you either want the benefits of Sense or you don't. Sense based roms are better in that they are optimised with the correct drivers and such. And sense is improved upon in the Jellybean builds. Only you can decide if you like sense and it's benefits or want a vanilla rom.
As for choosing a rom, try them all, pick one test it and monitor your battery life with your own usage if you don't like it try another and see if it improves on battery and such.
No one can say one rom offers better battery life over another as battery is totally user dependent based on their usage, type of data used, signal strength, etc.
If your phone has a matching CID for the current leaked JB roms then feel free to try any of the builds.
You can easily debloat manually by using root Explorer or even rom cleaner can debloat for you.

Alright, as I said I was indifferent, but if I have to choose, I'd rather use Sense than stock, so if you want to suggest a ROM, do go with Sense primarily.
I'm not one to reflash my phone all the time, I was back when I was younger, but today I prefer stable "don't need to touch again" software!
Yes, my phone have HTC_Y13 as it's CID, so it's compatible.
Thanks about the suggestion about using root explorer to debloat the phone, but in this case I'd rather prefer it not being installed at all in the first place.
As for battery lifelength, fair enough, but if there is a ROM that advertises it's amazing battery life it's a good point.
EDIT: Seeing as I'm leaning towards Sense, is there any point to getting a custom ROM with Sense 4.1 right now? If I need to reflash the phone in a week to get 4.5, I can't say it's all that compelling to root and flash this moment.
Try OrDroid but it's based of the HOX+ base the new version like ARHD12 and such based on the new X+ bases but their older versions are based on the leaked JB builds for HOX.
OrDroid has a handy app removal selection whilst installing in aroma to un install bloatware that comes installed.
And I've been getting good battery life from it.
But they are all very similar so bare that in mind. It's kernels that improve battery but no source code as of yet for the new JB kernels.

If I read your post right, I shouldn't have any problems with using HOX+ based ROM's such as ARHD12 correct? Looks like ARHD is where it's at.
The biggest things I noticed with ARHD on my DHD were the huge optimisations in performance and battery life!
I have used both cyanogenmod nightly Builds and paranoid android on my international htc one x. Currently using PA. My advise would be to test both and more. Different strokes for different folks. Use apps like SwiftKey to help with language items and juice defender to help with the poor battery life of this device (as I watch it drop 2 percent as I write this message) I'm going to buy the Mugen battery pack!! Always backup up a good mod using Cwm!!! For fast swapping

All most every Rom in the Android dev sect have all of your required features. You can flash lyapota's mod on top of any sense rom to get the sense 5 goodies. Try on your own and check which ones best suited for u.
Don't start a thread with these kind of questions.

I'm right now using Cyanogenmod 10.1, flashed it like 20 minutes ago and it works like a charm. I don't really know about the battery yet, we have to wait for later for that!

New phone,new tests!

First i wanna say "Hello!" the whole HOX community.I bought a few days ago a ONE X and i must say cause i`m very happy to be the owner of this phone.I coming from an htc sensation,so i`m not a stranger The HOX was bought from Germany and i use it in Romania.Last days i did official update to 4.2.2 with Sense 5 after that i unlock bootloader and root cause i wanted to remove some system apps i don`t use.
So,now i want to ask you guys of you Sense 5 experience. How are the battery?Cause mine are not so good. And i don`t know, yesterday was better but today my battery drain much.I see in battery monitoring app cause kernel (Android OS) consumed most (cpu usage: 4h 11m).Otherwise,i must say Sense 5 are very smooth and i`m very impressed.I saw there Vipers and ARHD roms who are very good in my Sensations. And again, ask you guys, what rom(Sense 5 rom) did you use and have best battery life? Also, you use custom kernel? I know cause aren`t "best" rom, must try different combinations of roms/kernels but i want a starting point
Finally,i want to apologize for my bad english.Cheers!

Welcome to hox community!
Back to your post, there is no clear definition of "best rom" as it's very much subjective, and even two phones with same specs, cid, rom..will perform differently.
Well, in short, you like sense 5, and now just updated to latest official stock 4.2.2 with some concerns of battery. So, same as me, try Alex V kernel with better battery time, also some cool tweaks.
Btw, you might note that after update or flash new rom, battery normally gets better after a few cycle of full charge. So, dont judge too quickly.

Everyone's battery life is different because everyone has different uses. Apart from battery saver mode you can try "greenify" in the play store to make some apps sleep when you are not using them.
and you will not get an answer to "which is best rom" as it is not allowed, against the forum rules, it is best just to read about different rom's and try them yourself.

You're welcomed. I was once newcomer before.
Stock kernel is also good and i used it since ota update until i found alex v kernel with s2w/dt2w functions which are really amazing, and can help the power button last longer, plus other benefits. And I started using alex v since then.
Also, wanna share some info: with official ota 4.2.2 update, my phone is now at new hboot 1.73, base 4.19.707.3, and radio.. Most of the custom roms are built on previous base which I dont see good reason to switch to those custom roms, unless it's using same or newer base than mine. So, just to ensure proper checking before flashing custom roms.
Have good time with hox..

My phone cid is HTC_044 (Asia_WWW), using stock rom + alex v kernel. I tried some 4.2 and 4.3 custom roms but still prefer stock due to above rom base reason. But you can try custom rom freely as base is same.

Factory reset after rom flashing could make battery life better and smoother (as phone system is likely to run without any obstacles).
Play with stock kernel for some days and notice the battery life, then try Alex V Kernel and compare.
For me, I lower CPU speed to 1.2GHz and phone is awesome: running smoothly, just get warm up a little bit after nearly 1 hour of constant web surfing or play heavy games (Fifa 14, Real Racing...). Ofcourse, some small delay can be encountered but it's fair enough in exchange of cooler temperature and better battery. Man, try some small tweaks until it seems best for your usage!
