rom advice for htc one x - HTC One X

hello fellas finally i got my hox back from guarantee they didnt change the phone also my phone's guarantee is over so i can flash it and use it with custom roms
i wanna keep sense because im in love with it but i need more battery life (because of my gf) which rom i should use for that? also what is the diffrence between original room development and custom room development?

Try Maximus HD. I'm using it for a long time. Very good battery life.

[Q] SLIM ICS 4.2 for HTC ONE X ROCKS MY WORLD WERE OTHERS MADE ME STRES - WHY?S

Hi Folks. My first post on here but have been messing with Android since G1 and was with my trusted Galaxy Nexus until last week I bought the HTC One X.
I must admit that S-On is a pain and i have found it more difficult to flash ROMS to the device after Unlocking Boot-loader on HTCDEV and rooting the Device.
Does any one know of any way to remove S-Off at the minute or is this unlikely in the next couple of weeks?
I tried a few ROMS including CM9 and Paranoid Android without success but have to applaud the Slim ICS Rom for the pure delight in ease of Install and it runs beautifully as it did on my Galaxy Nexus. Is there something about Slim ICS that makes it more simply to port to than others on the market at the minute or is it just my device.
BTW I ensure I went down the Fastboot avenue with Cache and Dalvik clearing etc to try and prevent a Boot-loop scenario but only ICS worked for me.
Anyone out there wishing to try a fast light and very simple ROM to port to then I highly recommend this avenue to explore. :victory:
no, sorry there is no way to s-off a htc one x tegra 3 version.
Did you flash the boot.IMG of each ROM and then erase cache in fastboot? Might be the reason.for other roms not booting.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium HD app
ICSlim was actually ported by the actual developer of ICslim
Hey, since you came from the Gnex can you please tell me if the battery life is actually better or worse than your previous phone? I am using Gnexus right now but I want to buy a new phone and can't really decide between SGS3 and HOX. Although HOX is a clear winner here I am very concerned about the battery life since it is one of the most important things when it comes to phones for me. Thanks for your reply.

Thanks. Well 3-5 hours of screen on time is definitely an improvement for me,since my current Nexus can barely stand 1,5 hours of browsing. I just got an oportunity to buy a grey one although I wanted the white one. Hope that I won't be disapointed in the terms of looks.

I had the white one and swapped it for the grey. Looks more serious and more classy.

This handset is way better for heavy use than my G nex was and I find it to be of a much higher quality than the Samsung unit. I found that after a fast boot cache clear then the One X runs other roms without issue. Currently trying out Cyanogen Mod 9 and it too runs smoothly on this handset. Must say that this is probably the best handset I have enjoyed since the Nexus One and I recommend t to all of you considering a move in handset.

[Q] Thinking of buying this phone ,asking you guys if i shoud :D

Hi everyone ,i recently sold my dumb atrix 4g and i am thinking of buying this one.
I had the htc desire z which was good but had horrible battery(that was the reason i sold it ) ) and an other htc device that i still own and i proud of is my ol trusty htc tytn ll.
I am asking about your personal experience (what is the battery life , what issue does it have) because i dont want the same hystori that i had with my atrix(good specs ****ty phone)
Any comment wil be greatly apreciated please feel free to post positive or negative feedback.
Have a nice day/night.
i think its a great phone... battery could be better but it lasts enough... the only problem is that i'm stuck using ics (sense-based) rom because HOX doen't have S-OFF so i have to wait for my carrier to release the official update to jelly bean in order to get the newest jb (sense-based) roms. it's very frustrating
What is your average battery life if i may ask ?
Mine is between 20-24 hours standby with 3,5 hours screen on time, + calls ......and then i have about 22 % of the batt left ! So it's more than enough for me !
Thanks for the reply, it seems to be the ,,ONE`` for me )
Il buy it thx guys for the fast replyes
I easily can use the phone for a day! So I am pretty happy with it maybe u could buy the plus version for some extra battery capacity.

Better you buy a Nexus phone. The average user tends to flame and cry about too late updates... Nevermind. I regret it to have bought the HOX You know, I remember back in the days with Motorola. It was a pain in the a*s to have semi locked device. You had modifications but they never really worked... Anyways, get a Nexus and leave OEM devices.

[Q]from nexus to htc one x

I've found an offer for the 1x and I'm gonna buy it trading my galaxy nexus.
I love the screen and the camera of the htc but I don't want to lose the stock android look...also with the galaxy nexus i can get 3h30m of screen on and i've read the the one x as poor battery life : /
should i buy the 1x or should i keep the GN?
edit: I would also like to know if after unlocking the bootloader there's a way to relock it for warranty
It's a personal choice... If you want the vanilla look of Nexus (AOSP), you will need to unlock the bootloader of your One X and install a custom rom...
Battery life is average! I'm also on AOSP rom and I get about 3-4 hours of screen time. No Gaming. However, it differs from user to user... All depends on your usage!

I know that is a personal choice but I'd also like to know the opinion of somelse who have gone from a GN to an htc one x
You are probably not going to get a definitive answer as phone and rom comparisons are not allowed, although I can see your point.
Bite me

New phone,new tests!

First i wanna say "Hello!" the whole HOX community.I bought a few days ago a ONE X and i must say cause i`m very happy to be the owner of this phone.I coming from an htc sensation,so i`m not a stranger The HOX was bought from Germany and i use it in Romania.Last days i did official update to 4.2.2 with Sense 5 after that i unlock bootloader and root cause i wanted to remove some system apps i don`t use.
So,now i want to ask you guys of you Sense 5 experience. How are the battery?Cause mine are not so good. And i don`t know, yesterday was better but today my battery drain much.I see in battery monitoring app cause kernel (Android OS) consumed most (cpu usage: 4h 11m).Otherwise,i must say Sense 5 are very smooth and i`m very impressed.I saw there Vipers and ARHD roms who are very good in my Sensations. And again, ask you guys, what rom(Sense 5 rom) did you use and have best battery life? Also, you use custom kernel? I know cause aren`t "best" rom, must try different combinations of roms/kernels but i want a starting point
Finally,i want to apologize for my bad english.Cheers!

Welcome to hox community!
Back to your post, there is no clear definition of "best rom" as it's very much subjective, and even two phones with same specs, cid, rom..will perform differently.
Well, in short, you like sense 5, and now just updated to latest official stock 4.2.2 with some concerns of battery. So, same as me, try Alex V kernel with better battery time, also some cool tweaks.
Btw, you might note that after update or flash new rom, battery normally gets better after a few cycle of full charge. So, dont judge too quickly.

Everyone's battery life is different because everyone has different uses. Apart from battery saver mode you can try "greenify" in the play store to make some apps sleep when you are not using them.
and you will not get an answer to "which is best rom" as it is not allowed, against the forum rules, it is best just to read about different rom's and try them yourself.

You're welcomed. I was once newcomer before.
Stock kernel is also good and i used it since ota update until i found alex v kernel with s2w/dt2w functions which are really amazing, and can help the power button last longer, plus other benefits. And I started using alex v since then.
Also, wanna share some info: with official ota 4.2.2 update, my phone is now at new hboot 1.73, base 4.19.707.3, and radio.. Most of the custom roms are built on previous base which I dont see good reason to switch to those custom roms, unless it's using same or newer base than mine. So, just to ensure proper checking before flashing custom roms.
Have good time with hox..

My phone cid is HTC_044 (Asia_WWW), using stock rom + alex v kernel. I tried some 4.2 and 4.3 custom roms but still prefer stock due to above rom base reason. But you can try custom rom freely as base is same.

Factory reset after rom flashing could make battery life better and smoother (as phone system is likely to run without any obstacles).
Play with stock kernel for some days and notice the battery life, then try Alex V Kernel and compare.
For me, I lower CPU speed to 1.2GHz and phone is awesome: running smoothly, just get warm up a little bit after nearly 1 hour of constant web surfing or play heavy games (Fifa 14, Real Racing...). Ofcourse, some small delay can be encountered but it's fair enough in exchange of cooler temperature and better battery. Man, try some small tweaks until it seems best for your usage!

[Q] Which rom should I choose for the best battery life?

Hello HTC Desire community!
I know that "What's the best rom" topics are generally awful and honestly, I hate them myself but this one is a little bit different.
See, I use my MOTO G (xt1032) as my daily driver, well it is fine but the issue with it is I'm not sure if it is carrier locked and I do not want to cut up my other sim to test it.
I'm having a trip (to another country) within few weeks, so I decided to ask you, which ROM should be best for making the phone last as long as it possibly can.
First thing that came into my mind was good ol' Cyanogenmod 6 (possibly without gapps) and underclocking it to 500MHz or so. I know it's old but I don't care. I don't really need any other features than being able to call from HTC Desire and play some music on it.
If any of you have a better idea of a rom, please let me know.
(After further inspection I found that official Cyanogenmod 6 is no longer hosted, so that won't work..)
I apologize for bringing up "what's the best ROM" topic, but I saw no other real place where to look for it. And thank you in advance.

I've used it for quite a long while when HTC Desire was my daily driver, It became kinda choppy to me and battery could be better.
I was very satisfied with 4.4.4 CarbonROM. I'm using ParanoidAndroid ROM(Android 4.3) now but I still haven't tested the battery life on this one. On CarbonROM i managed to get 6-7 days of battery life with little to no daily use of the Desire.

I flashed CM7.2 without any gapps, set my cpu governor to powersave + underclocked to 500MHz and now, after around 4 or 5 days, phone says it has around 50% juice left! Wasn't expecting it to last that long in the first place since it wouldn't usually go through a day because of the used battery. Let's see how long it'll last...
Well, I don't really care what android version my phone is running because it is so called "backup-phone". In case if something goes wrong it does its basic functions correctly. That doesn't sound like me at all because I flash almost every new 5.0 rom on my Moto G whenever a new one comes out but about desire... I feel like we should leave it in a place which it belongs in and does the job perfectly. (2.2 / 2.3)
