I was looking into upgrading my microSD card, and so I started looking around on the web. I came across the SanDisk 64GB microSD card. Is that even compatible with the HTC Evo? I have only heard rumors that they would work in some smart phones. Do any of yall know if this would be an option for an upgrade.
I don't believe so, as it only supports up to 32gb sd card. I believe 64gb technically classifies as an SDXHC, and only the thrive tablet I know of supports it.
That would be cool if it did, my 32 gb card is maxed out.

Most phones only support up to 32 but if you use easeus partition manager you can format the card to one primary 32 and one logical 32 fat32 drive. If it does actually work it will only recognize the primary 32gb side of it. The logical side would be storage that the phone wouldn't be able to use.
But like he said it wouldn't be able to read and write to a 64 compression.
I'm using a 32gb and if your full it's time to delete some movies.

Try it! Phones like the HTC EVO 3D and epic touch have been confirmed to work even though they only officially support up to 32gb but the 64gbs work just not at the fast sdxc speed

Personally It's not worth it, I mean it's cool to store stuff on the phone and movies are good to watch but for 200 bucks it's just not worth the storage.
Like I said I have a 32gb sdcard and with 15 movies that I'll never watch a second time it's still over kill.
Mine is full of music, no movies. I would love to have more of my collection on my phone.

If your card is full of music, try uploading of to Google Music - now out of beta, and you can store up to 20,000 tracks on their servers for free. Nothing anyone here doesn't know, but a possible solution for you.

True, but then he'd always have to be on wifi or 3G to play, and music could be interrupted if a bad connection.
I do keep my music backed up on google music, and dropbox. I still like to just have it all on my card. If I could swing $200 for a card just to see if it worked I definitely would. Someday maybe

True but I'm not a fan of the data or battery use. I keep my phone on airplane mode a lot when listening to music...coming out of it periodically to check for missed messages, voicemails etc.
so im thinking about installing it and linking it to my citi card...does even use it? is it really more convenient? do a lot of places you go to in your everyday life accept it?
I use it at 7-11 a lot. I'm on Verizon by the way.

apparently i already have google wallet enabled online...my card is linked to my gmail for apps in the playstore...i guess i just need to log in...but im not sure i want to do that if its not useable at a lot of stores...and i dont want to stand there like a moron tapping my phone on a pay device and it not doing anything lol
if these paypass locations are really prevalent then it would be awesome thing to have...if its hit or miss, then theres no point
Try it?
What's the loss here, I don't get it?
But for me, yes, it is hit and miss.
I think it's due to lack of a decent pay pass here.
Our 7-11 works for me...usually.
Everywhere else it practically never does.

the loss:
1. a lot of people are getting locked out of google wallet after flashing new roms (i read that resetting the app prior to flashing something is needed)
id whether not risk it right now and wait until google wallet takes off in case i got locked out..then ill be mad when i cant use it when i actually want to
2. security reasons...i dont need my CC info stored on an extra app if im not even going to use it
I flash cm9 nightlies all the time and use wallet almost everyday. I don't get locked out. But i am only wiping cache and dalvik cache. If you are doing a full wipe between roms then it is advised to go into your google wallet app and de-provision your wallet so that you don't risk getting the secure element lockout. Also nandroid backups are always recommended. People got locked out a few weeks ago too because of a wallet security flaw they needed to patch so provisioning of new cards was disabled.
Security isn't a worry here especially if you're using a prepaid card. Everything requires your pin and also if you link it to a prepaid card the only thing at risk would be whatever small amount of prepaid money you have on there. If you had a remote wipe application you'd even be able to wipe your phone before anyone even attempted to guess your pin. Also let's not forget a quick call to the money network could disable your wallet just like you would with a traditional credit card.

No you can also use a wallet prepaid card. You can put however much money you want on it and fill it up whenever it runs low. It'll process just like a credit card.

I use it for small purchases at places like CVS, Duane Reade, 7-11. Always gets a cool reaction from cashiers.
the pop machines at my school (ohio state) have credit card/paypass readers. i use it all the time there. it makes me feel like im saving money by not actually feeding cash into it. i enjoy lying to myself!
I've tried it but it seems to me that unless I open the app beforehand, it takes more time than Swiping a card. Every time I put it on the reader without first having opened wallet beforehand, it asks me for my pin before it goes through. Seems to take more time. Now, if I open the app before placing it on the reader, it works well. it is pretty cool and saves a second maybe.

Hey I'm at OSU too. I use Gwallet as much as I can because I want to push the standard. I agree it's annoying they don't have more options for debit or credit, but I'm willing to go out of my way a little bit to try and move things toward a digital wallet.
As you guys know (or if you don't, you will now) that many manufacturers are releasing phones in which do not have an external SD card and are banging us over by providing really low storage option inside of phones. What got me thinking is that there is a 64GB SD card on sale for 40 bucks at certain retailers and i wanted to buy one and then i came out with the thought that, almost every new phones coming out doesn't have a slot for the SD card. Sure the s3 does but i wont have the s3 forever. What would you guys do?
I know some say, turn to cloud but lets be realistic (at least here in the states). For starters, t mobile doesn't have the best coverage meaning internet is not available everywhere which means if you go visit grandma's farm, you are bored to death and forced to play with cows or ride horses (although riding horses should make you put your phone down lol). Lets say you have glorious verizon with its "great" LTE network and coverage. Well then you are stuck at 2GB or what ever plan you have. point is that you are stuck, so once over the threshold, you are going to get rocked with a fee.
Taking a more personal look, my SD card consists mostly of music (7GB, 800 songs and counting..I like my songs high quality ala 320kbps mp3/aac or 1000kbps Flac), I have 2 nandroids (1 for stock TW JB and the other for AOSP...you know these can make dents on the SD card, apps that require large amounts of data on the SD card.) so right off the bat, i dont need a 64 gb but i know in the future (give or take 2 years, ill HAVe to go that high.)
What are your thoughts? should i just get it anyway? what do you think can be done to get the attention of manufacturers about this issue? any other thoughts?
I'm pretty sure that Samsung has no plans to get rid of the sd card slot.

Being a professional photographer on the side... I will give you this advic - nothing less than a class 10 card, and nothing else besides sandisk or PNY
I've heard enough about how finicky the 64Gb cards can be that I decided to go for 32Gb. 32Gb is only $20. If $20 is still more than you want to spend, 16Gb is like, $10 or less. For $10, does it really matter if you're going to use it forever ? I mean, the phone likely cost many times that and has a limited lifespan of its own.
Just get whatever you're comfortable paying for.
I just bought a SanDisk 32G sd card, but it won't mount. When I try, it said blank sdcard or unsupported files. I tried formatting it but I get the same message. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am confused why the biggest concern for people when buying these things is simply cost. Sure you can pick up a 32 GB card for 10 bucks... But when it crashes on you a year from now, and the cheap ones typically do, don't come posting a thread here asking why it doesn't mount or why all of your stuff is mysteriously missing from your card. QUALITY people... Not quantity. Its like putting $30 tires on your Ferrari and wondering why it doesn't handle the way it is supposed to. I have had my PNY class 10 card for almost 2 years now with no issues, and yes it was a little more expensive but it is way more reliable than these cheap ass Kingston and no name class 2 or 4 cards that people throw into these things.
Both of the sandisks I have owned have crashed on me. A 16 and 8 GB. Never again will I cheap out on SD cards. Its not worth losing 2 years or a year's worth of data.
I've been buying 32s and compatible 64s every chance I get.
SD slots will be with us for the long haul.

I totally disagree! I don't think Nexus phones set the standard. I do understand that Google would like to gently nudge us all into using the cloud, but I will go kicking and screaming all the way. I hope they come to their senses and support choice like they should.
Get it.
I think you should get it. You might need it down the road. And even if you don't need it right away, it's still be handy to have. I have a 16GB card now, but I'll get a 32 or higher later on.
And you're right, these lack of SD slots are crazy.

I think the bigger question is whether we should start training ourselves to use the cloud rather than relying on our sd cards. But I still say the answer is no. Samsung is a big enough player that they can dictate design rather than be dictated to. I don't think they'll abandon these removable parts anytime soon. Maybe in 5 years, Samsung will have their own cloud offering and will force us to use it in lieu of local storage. MAYBE.

I think we really lack the infrastructure to go cloud-only for things like music and movies. The cell towers aren't everywhere - many people can't stream everything even if they want to. People still want to watch movies or listen to music on an airplane without having to pay (or compete for bandwidth if the air carrier is nice enough to let people have at it for free).
I think there are many valid situations when the cloud is simply not an option.

It sounds like an issue with your phone. Do you have the problem with other cards as well? The mechanism to eject its part of the phone hardware and really not related to the card. My card ejects fine. I just have to push it in and it will then be ejected...

It's under Secure Notes - you can choose Credit Card as an option. I believe you can also attach an image to it, if you'd like to take a picture of your physical card as well.
i like to know if i'm at the next '10 cents off' range on my kroger card.
do either of these apps accurately show you your kroger points as well? i see kroger has an app that does that..does keyring or lemon or lastpass provide this info or do they just store the loyalty id #?

LastPass seems to simply store textual information and an optional image. As far as I can tell, there is no system that checks balances or point totals.
there is a kroger app that does it :banghead: but i was hoping for something to avoid that.
looks like w/ all the coupons that kroger app might be worth installing anyway in addition to giving me the monthly balance on my points (since they reset every 30 days)

Your driver's license though?!?! Sorry man, until the government endorses an "App" that allows it, you're not giving that card up anytime soon. I don't think there's a Cop on the planet that would take your word that an image of your license on your phone couldn't be altered and is just as good as the hologram embedded copy-proof ID that the government issues to avoid fraud. haha

What good does storing a debit card do anyway? I mean, unless I'm seriously missing something or misunderstanding, you're basically storing the number, expiry date, security digits and possibly a photo of it in most cases. It won't store chip data (assuming chip+pin debit card) or mag stripe info (for mag stripe cards). The only way I can see it being used after digitized is online. But you most likely wouldn't pay your bill from your phone anyway, would you?
well.its a debit/credit card.
i get these little paper invoices from clincs for my kids and i just call the 800# and give them my card # over the phone to pay them.
but i never carry the HSA card with me so having it on the phone means i should have all the numbers & stuff i need to do the bill paying over the phone.
i should point out its technically a 'debit' card since the HSA is a bank account, but i don't actually use it that way with a PIN or anything.
Here's what I use... http://goo.gl/Kc2S6
The developer is constantly updating the application and he is really open to feedback. The application allows you to add anything so that you always have it with you. The only thing I'm not sure of right now is if he lets you add pictures of the card, I think he would add it though if you suggested it. The alternative is Lemon Wallet, http://goo.gl/FVv5G
This is what i use and i love it.

Maybe the UK does things differently. Debit cards are basically the standard way to pay by card in the UK. Most, if not all, are visa or MasterCard and all by now should have chips in them, so it's not exactly easy to digitise. Are things different wherever you are?

Yea, with how much fraud we have here in the States and how much banks say they want to keep your money safe, implementing chip&PIN is apparently too expensive an endeavor for us.

Mine got far enough to let me create a username and password and then made it to a screen asking for a credit card or redeem code. If it had its way, you would be stuck at that screen. It accepts virtual credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid ones, if you dont want to give them your american express black card number. I gave them some $1 prepaid BS with a zip code in beverly hills, 90210 and got past it. There's a rumor going around that a secret button combo will let you bypass that screen. I tried for 30 minutes mashing buttons and never found that combo.
However, by the time you make it to that screen, the android framework is already running, adb is chugging right along. You are perfectly free to 'adb install" apps and another launcher if you want. You may not be able to access the ouya market, even to play the free portions of games. But you can sure as **** sideload emulators, media players, and games.

I got mine about 2 weeks ago and I did not need a credit card. The screen popped up for it and I believe it said at the bottom like hit Y to skip.
Blasted from my Samsung Galaxy SIII (CM10.1 Masta Mix).
They must have changed it since then. I got mine on launch day and it updated right away. Then did this mess where it really wanted the credit card info.
The Day 1 update added this, but I'm kind of thinking it's a bug that it's mandatory, then again if it was they should have pushed out a fix by now....
Their website says it's mandatory to have some form of payment before you can download anything, but says you should be able to use "credit cards, debit cards, and pre-paid/gift cards and promo cards"
I've had my OUYA for well over a month and have never added card info. I can still download and play demos. I don't plan on buying many games until I see how viable this system is. I'm going to have to get a second controller replacement, because my top right trigger broke.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
It sounds like the people that set theirs up before the current update came out didnt have this forced credit card screen. For the people buying them at launch day, the first thing it does is update to RC-OUYA-1.0.328-r1_ota.zip, and when you go through the account setup process in this FW, it requires a credit card or some other form of payment.
