Will my xperia pro run "faster/smoother" on 2.x.x Android? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm currently running Ultimate HD 3.0.2 and am quite happy with it. However, since the xperia pro device was developed in GB times, I was wondering if it would generally run smoother and faster on a tweaked 2.x.x rom. Am I right? If so, which Kernel/ROM would you recommend for travelling back in time?
Thanks,
pan

Yes GB works better than any ICS or JB ROM in universe but performance comes at a cost of design and features. Basically no Holo for you.

Also GB font is ugly as ****.

And next time ask your questions in Q&A.

Yes it is really bad in design and font is also baas and too big .. I downloaded font resizer paid app
And it requires root and font is smaller and you can see more on your display
For design i modded the framework and replaced the pngs from my mothers xperia S themed framework with the pngs with my framework i using now atomic gb v7 and it is really fast
And it has full xperia S design and look better than the normal atomic framework
My batter also lasts longer with gb about 13 hours moderate usage
In jb or ics only 7 hours moderage usage
If yoz want the framework just pm me xd

i used many roms on my xperia pro mk16i
the best battery and performance with gb roms
i recommend Gin2JellyBean v2.2.2 it is amazing rom with JB theme and i have 6970 at binchmark
u can find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250691
with ultima kernel 1.1.1 for gb and wifi models 1.1 (for wifi fix ) from this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1600165
and for camera use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569309

Stay with GB... Having performance issues and battery drain since i updated to JB :/ The ram is not enough to run JB oder ICS smooth...

GB is rock, very smooth

Try X-Gamer GB Rom . It's very awesome. With ANTUTU i earned over 7000 points.

Most stable(and least buggy) AOSP rom

So what is the best AOSP rom out there for the HOX, both JB and ICS. I am thinking of finally getting AOSP and was wondering what have people's experiences been with so many roms out there. For both ICS and JB TripNRaver and Tbalden's roms are my top choices right now. I was wondering which is more stable and has better battery life. It seems that both of them have stopped working on their ICS roms in favor of JB roms. TripNRaver's rom is RC2 and Tbaldens is Beta 5, should i just go with Trip's rom seeing that his was atleast a RC as opposed beta? And what about JB, whose JB rom is better for everyday use?
EDIT: By best i mean which has less bugs and is more stable
There is no best rom, the best rom is what works best for you, it's always good to try them out personally and see how they meet your needs. If you don't like it try another one until you find the best one that caters for you.

Yeah I get that i just meant which is more stable and has less bugs
Also, will there be an official CM10 for the HOX like there is for the SGS 3 and other devices?
it seems like cyanogenmod doesn't support htc one x? WHY?

It's still in alpha I don't think the cynagon team will release officially until it's stable. They haven't released cm10 on the sg3
IMHO tbalden alpha4 is the most stable its my daily

ohh.. i just thought since htc one x isn't listed on the cyanogenmod, its not officially supported by them. And I thought all these CM9 and CM10 roms for the HOX are just ported from other cyanogenmod roms??

ICS Battery Life

Hey Everyone,
Been messing with my kindle since I got it at release, but more or less put it down due to time/new phone (HTC One X whutup).
I know before I put it down, I was having a lot of trouble with the new ICS roms and battery life. Has Hashcodes kernal / the roms that are around now gotten to be more gingerbread-like with their battery life?
I know on stock, and with a little bit of tweaking on one of the GB roms, the battery would easily go a week while just reading. I'm just looking to go for a day in general =P
Looks like this rom may be more for you

And btw my Ics rom lasts all day with just a charge nightly... moderate to mild use... if I just left it in standby it will last 4 to 5 days... but cm7 will definitely last much longer

[Q] best rom?

Hm...
There's many rom for galaxy w but wondering which is the best?
Do you like ics or jb? If you prefer jb it is still have some bug but a lot new feature, so if you don't mind then try jb.
But if not try cm9 rc4 it is the most stable ics of all. And you can find other ics based rom that is been customized either. Just try some man, you can even know if yoy didn't try. After all rom is just personal preference

They both are best. Because it was made from the same dev and the only major difference is that cm9 rc 4 has no bugs but jb still have bugs to be taken care of

Best Rom.
I had the same doubts, and I chose to use the CM-9, very good!
Is it really worth upgrading to CM9 RC4?
I use Bagux 1.4 rom, GB with custom go Launcher. So what would change if i installed CM9 and had the same launcher too? Any advantages to CM9 over GB on our device?

I'd recommend you to stick with CyanogenMod 9 as it's the cleanest ROM out there. No mods/scripts/tweaks so you have the freedom to flash whatever you want. And you're gonna get the updates first too as the other ROMs are based on CM9 and it takes a day or a week for them to update to the latest release.

Can we get some more Odexed (not Deodexed) ROMs please!!!

I know I'm probably the exception. However I rather have a smooth, fast, battery friendly phone, than a themed one. I've used pretty much every ROM in both AT&T threads. As far as stock goes, the maybe 2 or 3 odexed ROMs, and including (stock rooted) are the fastest and most battery friendly, compared to deodexed. I would be willing to donate well for a good modded odexed ROM.

I didn't think the odex/deodex made any difference in ROM functionality/performance/stability, just dealt with how apps were built into the systems memory and allowing theme options (as you mentioned).
Possible it's just placebo you're experiencing?

+1. As far as I know the speed difference is negligible. Battery life should negligible as well if any at all. While being odexed may make some small differences here and there in speed, it is probably not going to be noticed. The difference is so little that it would be hard to blame speed or other issues on solely the odex vs deodex because it is a custom rom. The only time being deodexed would make a difference is when you first boot up after installing a new ROM. This can take a little while, but after that, boot times should be normal.
Besides, if there really was a noticeable difference, then many devs would offer odexed roms
I also only use odexed ROMs now. Its hard to explain but it seems the odexed ROM doesn't get bogged down over time. I have been using the same odexed ROM that's been personally debloated for the last 6 months and it's still just as smooth as when I installed it.
Though the difference is minor, it is noticeable to me. Just like how many people notice the smoothness difference between an iPhone and a galaxy phone. The difference is minor but it's definitely there.
I've been working on learning how to mod certain apks then reodexing them, but I'm still having a lot of trouble. And I wish there was a way to do it easily on the computer without using the device.

That might be true, I'm a perfectionist. I notice its definitely smoother in most applications, boots a lot faster. Just over all the performance way better. Like I said, I've tried most of the roms in the forums.
