[Q] why wont my WIFI Wont turn ON - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I went on a trip yesterday, i turned my WIFI off to save battery. When i returned home i tried to turn it on, but its just stucked on 'Turning wifi on' and the button to toggle wifi locks. After a minute or so the button unlocks but the message is still on screen.
I dont remember i did anything different to my phone than usual. I dropped it once there, but it wasnt too hard or anything.
Any suggestions?

Desire wont turn on..... HELP!!!!

I know most of the Desire users on here have upgraded but i am on a 24 month contact and require some help!!
My phone since new has been excellent apart from the boot loop problem which HTC fixed with a new motherboard, however today it's all gone to ****. Went to use it and switched on 3G while waiting for it i just put it down for a few seconds, went back to it and it had froze buttons didn't work, screen wouldn't move even long back press didn't kill it.
So (this is were i think i might have broke something) i pulled the battery out, popped it back thinking it just need to restart and it wouldn't turn on!!! thinking that the battery might be flat (it was low at the time) i plugged the charger in but it would do anything (No orange light) and quick google and i find a way to get it charging (Without the battery in, plug the charger in which makes the green and orange led flash then insert the battery) this made the orange led stay on and after a few hours the green led came and i thought OK it should work now.... but it doesn't :-(
Anyone got any ideas?
The phone is rooted/s-off and running Oxygen 2.3.1 so without some life in it to put a RUU on i don't really want to send it to HTC.
Thanks for any help you lot can provide.
James
Hi!
Got the same problem....my Desire won't turn on...
Were you able to fix yours?
I'm on S-Off, too...
THX
Are you able to boot into fastboot / hboot?
I don't know if it is the same problem but the HTC Desire I got can not be turned on for longer than a few seconds after booting into Android (GingerVillain 3.3) (With AC, on battery, USB.. doesn't matter).
The battery indicator is sometimes jumping from 100 to 0 percent and from 0 to 100 percent. Before this the phone had problems with incoming calls not showing up and the other side getting an "calling partner not available".
Aswell the OC/UV Beater daemon was constantly crashing.
Since the phone's recovery menu is still working fine, I tried a full wipe, formating everything, reinstalling the ROM but it didn't help to solve the problem, it just fixed the crashing OC/UV Beater daemon occurring before.
I am rather clueless what to do now. The phone worked fine for many many months with that problem suddenly appearing. It is the phone of my girlfriend, so I cannot tell you exactly what changed in that time. She is claiming that she did not alter anything and with the phone not working after a full wipe, it may be the truth
May the hardware be damaged in some kind? What would be possible steps I could try out next before defining it as scrap metal?
Flash 2.3.3 RUU and if problem persits, call HTC.
Do a full wipe and don't install the rom just leave as is...
I had the same problem... so I tried that and it worked so now I'm using cm7 nightly build #258 for the past 5 months or so and no problems since...

It's usually very difficult to brick a phone. If you can get into your custom recovery then it still works. If not, then get into your hboot and install a custom recovery (if rooted) or RUU rom (if rooted will make it unrooted).
If your phone doesn't turn on, check wires, battery, plug, connector links between battery and phone (clean them). Hopefully you haven't had a sudden power surge which has blown up a component on your desire.

[Q] Accessing service mode on CM9

Hey guys,
So I have the WiFi problem with my S3; whenever the phone goes into sleep, it for some reason needs to cycle the WiFi connection when waking.
This is incredibly annoying - whenever the phone goes into sleep, I have a 5 second freeze before I can actually unlock it due to the wifi dropping and such.
So the solution when I was on TouchWiz was simple: enter the service mode, through the phone menu, doing *#0011#, and turning off WiFi Power Save.
Now this is all fine and dandy (even though that stupid setting wouldn't stick on reboot, I could always re-enable it) but now that I've flashed CM9, doing the *#0011# code doesn't work anymore - nothing comes up at *all*.
I'm on the current nightly (7/24). Now I'm no Android expert or anything, but I *think* I need the Service Mode application from Samsung to access the service mode menu.
I have backed it up through TitaniumBackup, but I can't restore it. It seems to hang whenever I restore it, which I would think is expected since I did get a warning that I wouldn't be able to restore system apps on a different ROM.
Can anyone help? Is there a way to do that? Or to at least turn off WiFi Power Save, even if it's temporary?
+1 same problem with cm10. Driving me absolutely insane.

I had started another thread similar to this. I have the same problem. I rooted using the 2, 4, 1 method and all was fine. Then I started having the same problem you are experiencing. The power button would not turn the phone off and all screens are frozen. Only removing the battery works.
I have since booted into recovery (CWM) and fixed permissions and that appears to have solved the problem for now. If anything else comes up I will update my post.

[Q] Desire HD freezes after using Home-Button in any App

Hey,
since today my Desire HD keeps freezing after I pressed the Home-Button when I'm in an App. After that I have to remove the battery, so I can actually restart my phone.
An example which happened already twice to me: I was playing "Bike Race" for about 5minutes. Then I turned off the Screen. After about 30minutes I turned it back on. The games pops up. I press the Home-Button, the phone vibrates and freezes. Not even 1 Button is working after that anymore.
Yesterday I followed this tutorial to calibrate my battery correctly : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226016
I also flashed the newest Beastmode Kernel. My Desire HD is rooted & is running Sabsa Prime v12.
I never had this problem before, so I'm wondering if anyone knows how to fix this.
Thanks for trying to help ..

Have you tried a system factory reset (and cache/dalvik)
If not, I would suggest doing so. Also, try flashing a non sense rom and see if that works (not for permanent use if you don't want, but then you can find out the root of the problem)
Good luck

Desire HD keeps restarting

Hi guys, i have a big problem on my htc desire hd. Its rooted, S off etc. Cca. two weeks ago htc starts restarting. I thought its a battery problem, couse i tested it 1 months ago and it has only 200mah. So i bought new battery, but its the same. When i charging the device, it does not restart never. When stop charging... restarts. When i using the device (browsing web, texting, etc) its fine, it doesnt restart. When stop using... restarts. These restarts keeps repeating every couple of seconds. Then i hard reset my phone, doesnt work. Then flash with CM 10.1, manually install kernel, but is the same. I dont know what more can i do. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks and sorry for bad english
News When phone goes to sleep mode (black screen), it shuts down. I cannot wake it up, if i press power button, it just booting again.
In recovery it does not restart.
just installing another custom rom (try SVHD v2.1.0) from recovery..don't forget to full wipe/factory reset except the sd card..before installing any custom rom..
hope this help..
I already installed 3 new roms, but there is no difference. Now just shuts down when idle. If i use the device, is ok. If i press power button (sleep), i cannot wake it up anymore. ALWAYS:crying:
Is this behavior also happen on the stock rom or arhd rom? Try flashing them and see whther the same problem occurs

sorry for that too..so this is cleared that's problem is not from phone software but related from the phone hardware itself..
hope your phone will be fixed soon..
Yes, it seems so. Its strange... when charging si all ok, when using the phone is all ok, the problem is only when dont charging + idle together.
No such things
Cm 10.1 works well on mine.
