Root - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Quick question here can you root the s3 on 4.1.1 without losing anything? Because from what ive seen you have to flash a stock ROM with root injected in it. I put on CWMR and flashed superuser but I do not have root.

Sorry, but there's A LOT of threads answering this question, that being one of them, and I don't want to type it all again.
Also, qking77 has a thread related to this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31763293
Either method works, the choice is yours. Good luck!

Unlock rooted s3

Hi, I rooted my s3 with odin but I think that I only rooted it rather than unlocking the bootloader as well, how can I now unlock the bootloader so that I can try some custom Roms? Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Did you install CWM or other recovery?
You could also try Mobile Odin from the market to install a custom ROM.

From the video that I watched it said that the clockworkmod was installed but I have no idea how to check this or to put it to use.
Thanks again

With phone off - hold down volume down+home+power buttons.
I would suggest you do lots of reading before flashing your first ROM.
This is a good thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426.

Hold that it has been installed, I found it in my app drawer. But what do I need to do with it?

Just to clarify, I used odin and CFROOT SGS3 V 6.4, so does this mean that I'm unlocked and ready to rock?

Yes you should be good. You could always post in the CF Root thread for assistance on that particular method.
You need to read before you brick your phone.

I flashed it without wiping data with no problems. just do it, it works

Yup I recently realized I could do that smh... previously on other phones it always forced a wipe if I recall when you first did a new rom

Root66 is really easy and you don't have to do anything after root.
Although having TWRP has really saved my butt a few times so if worry about potentially voiding warranty (there are ways to reset the flash counter but you take some chance) isn't an issue it's really a great thing to have.
Rooting is quite simple, doesn't take long. I did it my first time over the weekend. Galaxys3root.com is a great site with good resources.
Currently running Wicked 9.1, you can root and leave the phone how it was stock, works absolutely fine

Awesome guys.. I'm going to look into it now.

Well I was able to using a app. Im cursed with having a broke volume down button, so that was my only choice since i couldnt get to download mode without rooting and using a widget to reboot to download mode.
I have to dig around for the app but I know I saved it just in case...
Actrully found it I used a app called framaroot.

Interesting. It's worth a shot OP. Worst case, it fails and you uninstall. If it is successful, you can install mobile odin, then get the latest gb27 tar, and money. While you're at it, you will have to flash a cwm custom jb kernel, since you're on ics, and, MO won't flash modems, you'll need a jb modem to use data on gb27. Download the zip though of the modem . Good luck, let us know how it goes.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Hopefully it works for you. I don't see why it wouldn't. Might be more complicated but it worked for me. but of course YMMV. Just follow what jdsingle76 said you you'll be good to go.
